David L. Golemon (a.k.a. David Lynn Golemon ) is the author of the Event Group Thrillers, including Event, Ancients, Leviathan and Primeval. Legend, the second book in the series, was nominated for a RITA award for paranormal fiction.

Golemon learned an early love of reading from his father, who told him that the written word, unlike other forms, allows readers to use their own minds, the greatest special effects machines of all—an idea Golemon still believes. The only thing he loves more than writing is research, especially historical research, and he sees the subtext of his Event novels as being that understanding history allows us to create a better future. Golemon grew up in Chino, California, and now makes his home in New York.

This was a fun, roller-coaster of a ride! The Event Group is still reeling from their war with the Grays, which left so many of their own dead. And now, they must go after one of their own, lost not on the battleground, but in time. Whispers of a secret time machine built by the Nazis, have the group chasing information that they desperately want, as they meet up with a mysterious figure known as the Traveler. The Event Group is running out of time and now they also have to contend with the Russian mob, who are after the prize, the Wellsian Doorway.

I love the Event Group and the idea that there can be such a group out there who guard the great mysteries and artifacts from world history. I would love to be part of such a group. This cast of characters, along with Jeremy Robinson's Chess Team, Matthew Reilly's Shane Scofield and Jack West, James Rollins' Sigma Force and Greig Beck's Alex Hunter, this one is on my top 5 of action, thriller series that I can never get enough of.

A great adventure and highly recommended! 5 stars and a favorite.

It has been two years since we said goodbye to so many Event Group personnel, who once again saved the world from destruction. And it's been two years I've been waiting to see the follow up; to see whether Carl was really gone! When I saw the title of this book, I knew they would be getting him back!

Yet another outstanding book in the Event Group series, this one sees the Group track down rumours of a time machine created by the Nazis, with the intention of going back over 200,000 years to bring home Carl Everett. There was heart felt emotion, fast paced action, twists and turns; and of course, any book that has my beloved Event Group in it, is a huge winner for me!

The two years were worth the wait!!!! And I'm very much looking forward to seeing the Group back in action in the near future.

If you liked the movie or TV show ‘Stargate’ you’ll like this book. You may like it even if you’ve never watched the show, but if you add in Russian mobsters, you’ll have a good idea of what happens in the book.

Even though I like the idea of going back in time this got way too ‘Keystone Kops’ silly at the end.
Plus it reminded me a lot of the animal race and pirate battle in the original ‘Swiss Family Robinson’ movie. Excitement and humor is one thing. Idiocy and slapstick is too much for something that trying to make a Sci-Fi situation as believable as possible.

Footnote: 1) I’ve been keeping an Excel chart of all the main & regular personnel, plus the level plan organization of Event Headquarters. At the end of this book it is stated that L72 was the deepest, most secret storage level, but in previous books we read that both Levels 73 & 74 were destroyed and rebuilt and L75 was newly opened for new artifacts. So that means L72 was not the deepest and obviously not very secret. Especially since an earlier book said that the nuclear reactor was on L120.

Fave scenes: the Roc & the rabbit, the unexpected power source, Foghorn & Carl and the final epilogue.

The last couple of books in this usually action-packed series have had less action and more talk, to the detriment of the plot and pacing, the latter being essential for a good thriller. The idea is exciting: a mission is pulled together to time travel in the deep past to return Carl Everett to the present. An opportunity for some really fun dinosaur or other beastie type action. However, the initial subplot introduces the victim of Nazi science, who was sent into the past to test a technology being developed for time travel. This should have just been the launch point for getting back to the past; instead it dominates the first half of the novel and sad to say, is boring. There is also a great deal of dwelling on modern day Nazis trying to steal the technology, but the handing of the attempts is amateurish and cursory. Also, there is a totally unnecessary attempt to introduce romance between Virginia and one of the military men that is more high school than high drama. I felt much of the story was inserted into this novel to fill space. I hope subsequent books return to the working formula of science tech, lots of action and some kind of monster!

This is the kind of books I adore. Time travel, earth disasters, hot military men are among my favorite elements and this one has them all!!

Of you read the other books you know who the sinopsis refers to so it's not a spoiler, the Event sets up a the biggest Event so far to go back to Antarctica and find their lost navy man. Wow i love it so much, the science-fictiony of it all, the ancient earth times and our guys just trying to survive the whole thing. I love it

Annya and Sarah got a bit annoying on this one, I mean if you know the man you love (Jack) is going to put your safety first in a life of dead Situation, how do you claim you have to go to every damm mission cause you deserve to be there and put everyone at risk ? Neither Sarah nor Annya were needed for this mission...
Anyway apart from that it was some of the best books this author has. He's no the best writer out there but still I truly enjoy this books!

The 11th book in the Even Group series The Traveler, was a great read. Although I found some parts a little slow; I really enjoyed it. I really wanted the book to be longer. I wanted to see more of the world Everett lived in and maybe more types of beasts. I would of liked to see the Greys take part in the story other than just mentioning them through the saucer. I have to say some of Mr. Golemon's Event books have started off slow and built into a steam by mid book, but for the most part this one did not. It started at a good clip and kept that pace. I will clearly say I was not a big fan of the last Event book The Mountain, but this one stayed true to what it was and kept me interested. Although I feel that the book just was not long enough to answer all the questions; this is a very good installation in the series and I look forward to the next.

I guess in the last year or so, Golemon's hit a bit of a slump. This might be because he went and wrote two books in that time instead of one, with one being a surprisingly not-so-fun horror story that felt like a knockoff of AHS: Roanoke, and the other being this Event Group book - and thank God for that! But while the book had all the action that comes with Event Group territory, and the history-bending, I felt that the central conceit of Wellsian doors and time travel hundreds of millennia into the past was, by Golemon standards especially, surprisingly thinly constructed and unmemorable. But hey, at least the Event Group was back, and they got to make contact with one of Golemon's most memorable characters yet, a very complicated woman connected to those weird Wellsian doors.

I have really enjoyed and is a good one. series. The event group and department 5656 is back. In this exciting episode, the group needs to rescue one of their own. Niles Compton and his crew are back and they are like a comfortable pair of shoes that you can't wait to wear again. The characters remain true to their personalities as they have developed of the series. For new readers, the book is not a stand-alone book. For readers of the series, no refresher course is needed. I would say this is one of the better books in the series. I do hope the series continues as I would miss this group of friends

An interesting sequel to the events of Overlord in which the Event Group must figure out a way to return Captain Everett back to them safe and sound from a more hostile time. With the loss of so many key members of the Group, will they be able to get one back? The only issue is that Time travel does not exist; or does it? And what people have been using time travel to attempt to change the outcome or future in pursuit of greed. Throw in a Russian mobster with a sense for survival and a race of intelligent creatures out of a horror movie and the Group might be in for rough times.

I look forward to the next installment of the Event Group series.

Another satisfying installment in the Event Group series, The Traveler returns to the Event Group of the present, trying to save Carl Everett following the events of Overlord. Merging the Dambusters bombing of the Rohr river dams with the creation of a Time Machine-esque Wellsian Doorway, David Golemon sets the stage for an intriguing story involving a Traveler who seeks to rescue as many as she can from the Holocaust, a Group trying to find its place following a devastating lost and those who would use such a technology for selfish means.

The question to ask about this book is, what doesn't it have? Aliens, Nazis, dinosaurs, time travel, Russian Mafia, mammoths, - check them all off. This story combines the action of the present with mysteries of the past and add the adventure in the future. This is David Golemon at his best. He even pulls off a good ending, so hard to do in a thriller, let alone a time travel novel. It was interesting enough that I could see myself rereading this in a decade, something I almost never do.

This was another good installment of the Event Group. In parts I did get bogged down in the technical aspects of what was going on. However, I really like the descriptions of Antarctica and what goes on there. With out any spoilers if you love Jack and the gang, you'll love this book. Also happy to see an old friend, a gruff one, return!

The only reason I wanted to get through his book was because of the previous one where Carl Everett had plunged backward in time. This was a disappointment. Same tired narrative, lack of any real character development, predictable comic book villains. A real yawn fest. The previous novel, Mountain was so much better.

Read it as the first book from the series. Worked as a stand alone, BUT would have been better if I understood some background and characters. Decent overall book, interesting premise but would have worked better with more background on the series.

The Traveler was the ultimate Event Group story. From prehistorical times to Nazi Germany to present day, the Group does what it takes to set things right and make sure the power doesn't fall into the wrong hands.

Spoiler alert! The book was ruined by the notion that velociraptors could think and reason. The author was probably watching that ridiculous movie that advanced this notion. Be Original. Probably the last book by this author that I'll read. Completely ridiculous.

This book fits well into the series, great use of the character's personalities. I feel this series is starting to become a formula driven, and this story took some liberties with the science, I believe. But still well worth the read.

Published 2016. Some of the Event series have been better. At times the author is over the top in word and deed making me laugh (I presume) inappropriately. Still a good romp.

Love it!

I think the best of the series, where else can you find russians, nazis, spear-wielding velociraptors and fighting chickens? Awesome.

I was given a copy via Netgalley for a fair and unbiased review.

267,000 BCE. The continent was its own world, untouched by the planet-wide catastrophe that ended the reign of the dinosaurs over sixty-five million years before. A traveler arrives in the jungles of this ancient world who will fight to survive carnivorous creatures in a land never meant for human kind.

In another time and in a land far distant, men and women struggle to recover from the loss of so many of their own in a battle. Inside of this Group, Colonel Jack Collins has summoned the best of the best from the most secretive organization in the United States government, The Event Group, to help him in his quest. The new mission is to recover one of their own: to bring home a lost soldier from a world that existed in the distant past.

To me this sounded like a fantastic read!! Full of Sci-fi and Action and Adventure what more could you ask for?

But sorry to say this fell well short for me there are far to many characters which gets the story very muddled.

Also I wonder if I had read any of the previous books it might have made it easier to follow as the story is always saying about the previous war and maybe the characters would have more meaning.

But as a stand alone book it just wasn't enjoyable for me.

One of if not the shortest addition to the amazing Event Group series. I allowed myself to linger reading it because I didn't want to rush through it in 5-6 hours knowing I would have to wait until some time next year for another.

Solid writing as always from Mr Golemon. Group is still having a hard time building back up after Overlord. New additions to Group that not everyone is pleased about so character interactions were a bit more tense and even cold than usual.

This was definitely one of the oddest adventures Group has been on. The pacing was really good throughout until the last few chapters. Everything seemed rushed and harried. Not quite sure what could have been done to alter that but Group was in high alert run around "panic" then poof home again home again, happily ever after the end. Not disappointing just left wanting a little more.
