Another good book for counting calories but I found it hard to locate foods. too many prepared foods mixed in with fresh.

And excellent resource for anyone interested in diet and nutrition--although perhaps this 2003 books is of less utility in the day of the internet where much of this information is a click (or app) away. Contains thousands of alphabetically organized listings, including brand-name, frozen and fast food items and featuring calorie counts, grams of carbs, proteins, fats and fiber, sodium and cholesterol and calories.

Great information, but ipads and phones have all this information now. Not sure if it's a faster route or not.
