Cook pancakes from scratch inside this interactive recipe book — readers whisk the eggs, flip the pancakes, and more!
Step one: mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Step two: whisk the eggs, milk, and butter. Step three: stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to make the batter.
Simple, straightforward recipe text brings readers through each step of cooking pancakes, while the interactive novelty features, such as pull-tabs, wheels, and a punch-out piece, invite them to participate in the process. Cooking pancakes has never been so satisfying nor so clean! Perfect for young chefs-to-be, or any kid who prefers to 'do it myself'. This is the first title in a series of interactive recipe books.

This is a fabulous interactive board book that walks young readers through a recipe and allows them to participate in making pancakes by turning dials, pulling tabs, and opening flaps. My two-year-old loves it!
Perfect toddler book for my Pancakes Story Time!! There is even a little pancake that readers can "flip" at the end, then move to the plate on the following page. OMG, I love this book...
Delightfully interactive, and a great way to introduce cooking to little guys when they may still be too young to get more involved with the actual process.
Wow I guess I bought this four years ago when my oldest wasn’t even 2 yet?! It broke pretty quickly and I forgot about it, but I just found it in a closet and glued it and my 3 year old is obsessed with it.
One in a set of "Cook In A Book" set. Pull tabs, spinners, and inset pieces make the cooking in this book come to life. Sure to be a hit with little chefs!
Such a fun cookery book where lil chefs can easily learn to make pancakes. Not only that, they can also participate in making the whole recipe by adding the ingredients with the help of pull tabs and dials found in the book. This way it gets so much easier to learn basic steps in making some delicious pancakes and also make them feel that they are ACTUALLY preparing the whole dish.. :)
Here . . .enjoy the whole process by yourself and help your young chefs too.. We bet that they will not only perform this task thru this book only but will also try to get their hands dirty in the kitchen as well.. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8gDO...
"Pancakes!" (the first "Interactive Recipe Book" from the Cook in A Book series) is an engaging read-aloud for young audiences. The clever use of tabs, wheels, and punch-put pieces reinforces the baking vocabulary introduced in the text.
Publication Date: 2016 Format: Board book Elements: Interactive tabs/wheels/pieces; limited text Connection/Topics: Pancakes/baking, following directions, sequencing
I thought my 2-year-old would like this book, because you get to "make" a pancake by doing all the recipe steps with interactive elements on page. And then my 6-year-old stole the book, played with it for an hour, and then made real pancakes with the recipe. And those pancakes were delicious! I think I need more interactive recipe books in my life.
This book is a lot of fun! It's a book you can read, but it's also almost like a toy because there are flaps to lift, dials to turn, and even a pancake to flip. It gives you instructions for an actual recipe that does in fact result in pancakes. I know this because L (5) was insistent that her dad learn how to make pancakes and she gave him this book to practice!
We thought this book was so cute. My kids are older (7) and (9) but always enjoy hearing the books I'm reviewing. Both kids were excited to pull the tabs and spin the wheels even at their age. Books like this are timeless. Kids always love an interactive or interesting feature! It was definitely fun!
pretty ingenious but it seems like there is an audience age mis-gap. the littliest kids want to pay with the moveable parts (even though some are a little challenging to move), but the recipe text is better for bigger kids. still fun and educational though.
Clever, fun, excellent design and stand-out colors in this crossover cookbook-boardbook-giftbook-popupbook. I didn't actually try to make the pancakes, but I'm guessing the recipe is solid. Makes me wonder how the marketing team decided to pitch it. Also, lemon juice on pancakes, huh?
This book is awesome! It's so much fun to play along and make the pancakes (with no mess required). I love the multiliteracy approach and the way it encourages cooking in a way that is simple and playful. A genius idea. I want to collect the whole set.
This book is an amazing way for children to simply learn cooking without the 'almost going to get burnt' factor. Not saying I don't cook with my kids because I so do, carefully. But this book gives all the ingredients and have you pour and mix together as you would be doing if you were making pancakes! Such a great way to learn and explore! I adore the removable and flippable pancake too! My 5 year old and 3 year old enjoy this and take turns making their pancakes together. The librarian enjoys these books so much they have both the pancakes and pizza books shelved and are ordering the taco and cookies because of how much it's enjoyed! Recommended!!
Absolutely the most fun interactive book I have ever read/played with. Using a few traditional pop-up book elements and some newer meta techniques, this graphic board book takes the reader from ingredients to plated pancakes and teaches, not just how to make breakfast, but some vocabulary—nouns and action words.I think it's perfect. The kind of board book even bigger kids won't want to give away. A treasure of meta fiction. Mindful of its audience and as delightful as a real stack of pancakes with fewer calories.
