Ok I finally did it! I tried an audio book.

With that said, I can only give this book 3*s. Now honestly I can't decide if it's the book itself or if it was the strangeness of listening to a book. Was a very different experience for me. I just couldn't connect with the narrators.
The story-line itself seemed a little disjointed and far-fetched...but again was it the book or the narration.....hmmm....not sure. I am glad it was just a short Bookshot since it just wasn't quite working for me.

The one plus was I tried this experience on a flight and I did very much enjoy closing my eyes and tuning out the noise of the plane and letting the hours fly by. ( I hate flying!)

I will give the audio book experience another chance....maybe on my next flight!

This book is a REAL page-turner. I didn't really plan to read this book, just accidentally opened it in my book-reader and after reading the few lines, I got so intrigued and so thrilled that I started it. Every time I wanted to put it down, to take rest, author showed up another twist which made me so anxious to read, read and read till the end.

CHARACTERS
Molly (Lead )
Mother of Alex, a 15 years old teenager. Her husband leaves her after the birth of Alex.
She is very well written.
Mason
FBI agent.
This character was very annoying for me in the beginning but eventually I began to like him.
Hank and Stevie
Brothers of Molly. They are just the helpers of Molly in her plan.

OVERVIEW
Molly's son, Alex is (so called) murdered by smoking Crystal Meth. His friend informs his mother and she finds her son's dead body at school. She wants to take revenge from the person who supplied his son that drug. She knows who has done it, who has murdered her SON. She makes a plan by which she takes her revenge and also saves her house too from being foreclosed. Plan is to steal money from two different places and frame the drug supplier for those thefts. Money can save her house and also she can take her revenge too.

THINGS I DIDN'T LIKE
So Called Murder
In synopsis, author wrote: her son was MURDERED. But I don't think it was a murder or intentional killing. It was a mistake of her son, who took that drug maybe more than enough.
Names of Chapters
Well, these were interesting and also very confusing for me. All the chapters' names are based on time like: "2 minutes, 45 seconds", "15 seconds", "1 minute" etc...
These were confusing because in chapters, hours or months were passed rather than just few minutes or so.
It leaves me with one option that the sum of each chapter's name is equal to 113 minutes, the title of this book. I didn't add them up but I think so.

THINGS I LIKED
Writing Style = Good!
Pace
This book has exhausted me by its fast pace. Just the type of book I like.
Robberies
Those were excellently planned and written.
Narration
This book has two types of narration:
1st Person and 3rd Person
1st person is for Molly and 3rd Person is for Mason.
I liked how both POVs were managed in this book.
Ending
It was little unexpected for me. I couldn't see what was coming. But I liked it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Well, some may like this book some may not. I ALSO couldn't understand I should like it because Molly took revenge of her son's death or should hate it because she stole the money to save her house from being foreclosed and framed the drug supplier for those thefts.
Either way, this book was a good read for me. Author didn't let me go till the end.
This book wasn't a great start for me of James Patterson's works. Hope I will like his other works. Yeah! I will give him another chance. Not now, but maybe latter.

To end the year, I took a chance on re-reading this shorter book, in hopes of filling some time before the new pile of looming books overtakes me. Here is my original review:

Patterson joins Max DiLallo for another story in the BookShot collection, one filled with heartache and fast-paced action to keep the reader curious. After Alex Rourke dies of a drug overdose, his mother, Molly, vows to get revenge for the person responsible. Working alongside her brothers, she devises one 'hell of a plan' and begins putting it into action.

All the while, Molly Rourke must face the fact that her family farm is about to go into foreclosure, forcing her to think quickly to come up with the needed funds to keep the bank at bay. After orchestrating and pulling off two significant heists, the Rourkes are able to pay the bank and put that part of the plan behind them.

However, the FBI is called in to track down those involved in the heists, headed by Agent Mason Randolph. Following the leads and clues left behind, he narrows his search to one of the acreages in Scurry County, Texas. As Agent Randolph and his collection of guns-toting agents narrow in, Molly Rourke must hope that the final leg of her plan goes off without a hitch. Trouble is, she never anticipated getting caught. An interesting story that the reader can finish swiftly, perhaps in a mere 113 minutes.

As with anything that attaches itself to the James Patterson name, BookShots can be a hit and miss endeavour. With this story, some readers might be drawn to the story and enjoy its progression, while others might not feel the drama that some of the other thriller stories have had to offer. I find myself in the latter category, though cannot pinpoint the precise reason. The story had all the elements of a successful tale, though I felt it fell flat, even with the twists in the narrative and the interesting character development. Neither Patterson nor DiLallo can be expected to shoulder the blame for this. As with any piece of writing, it is all about how the reader receives the piece. The characters were decent, the story flowed well enough, but the spark was missing for me. Perhaps others will feel differently.

Thank you, Messrs. Patterson and DiLallo for another BookShot. I hope I find your next collaboration more to my liking.

Another addition to the BookShot collection. This time Patterson teams up with Max DiLallo and it's a winning combination.

Molly Rourke's son has died of an overdose and she knows who's to blame for supplying the drugs. Having children of the same age as her son, I felt empathetic and cheering her on in her plans to take this person down. *Don't poke a momma bear*

Molly is also facing her family farm being taken back by the bank. Times are looking bleak, but she hatches a plan to come up with the money. With the cooperation of her family she puts her risky plan in motion. It's suspenseful to watch the plan play out with a great twist I didn't see coming. This short read delivers!

Great short story! I'm really starting to like James Patterson's New bookshots. They are just the right length and get to the point of the story and the plot.

Molly Rourke’s rush to her son Alex’s school was in vain – at fifteen years of age he hadn’t lived the life he was destined for yet. Molly was devastated at his death and she knew in her heart who had killed him. She was determined to avenge his death if it was the last thing she did.

Molly’s family was close – the farm where they lived had been in the family for generations. Her two brothers and their families rallied around Molly, feeling her pain as their own. They could never bring Alex back, but could they stop other families suffering the way theirs did? Would Molly’s intense love for her son as well as the burning desire for revenge bring the results she wanted?

113 Minutes by James Patterson is another in the BookShots books; a fast paced and easy read, this novella was indeed a little strange. I found myself suspending belief on a number of occasions, especially at the end! But of course it’s fiction, so anything goes! I don’t mind recommending it though…

Horrible novel. The plot didn't make sense at all and there was so many plot holes.

Spoilers below, just so I can fully explain the ridiculousness of this novel.

The new book shots aren't as exciting as I had hoped.

That blurb is sure short, sweet and cuts right to the chase! Even though it’s brief it sure caught my eye. A mother avenging her sons death is both heartbreaking and gripping and I was curious as to how this would play out, especially as this is one of Patterson’s Bookshots, which is like a novella meant to be read in one sitting in a few hours. This was my first time listening to a Bookshot and man am I ever hooked!

Molly Rourke is a woman on a mission. Someone sold her son, Alex crystal meth that killed him. He was only fifteen and Molly’s whole world. The only way she can cope is by making a plan. She wants revenge and she will stop at nothing to ensure the men who had a hand in Alex’s death are brought to justice.

Both the narrators for this are fantastic. Molly is voiced by Becky Ann Baker and Christopher Ryan Grant narrates from the perspective of the FBI agent who is in charge of apprehending Molly and her brothers as they set off on a crime spree the likes of which he’s never seen before. The story is set in West Texas and both had awesome accents that made you feel like you were standing next to them under a blazing Texas sun.

This was perfect to read/listen to in one afternoon and I was really caught up in what the outcome would be. Listening time is just shy of three hours, a nice bite sized read. The twist in this one threw me for a loop, I was honestly not expecting that from such a brief story! This book was fun, flew along at warp speed and still managed to blindside me, so pack it in your bag on your next vacation.

This is the first of the "bookshots" that I have read and this one was not a good start of them for me.
It started out fine. Story seemed interesting enough but somewhere along the line it just got silly to me. There were some feeble attempts at suspense that really didn't work for me. There was no flow and it seemed to jump all over the place.
And am I the only one that is bothered by this whole plot? I get the part where we are out to avenge the death of Molly's son, Alex. But the whole bank robbing and horse ranch stealing seemed way too far fetched to have the outcome it did. And you need money to save your home, but are perfectly ok stealing it from other people and terrorizing innocent people? For me, the end does not justify the means.
I am hoping the other books of this type are not as awful as this one was.

Story was good. I missed understand the meaning of "a story in real time". Story takes place over 1.5 years not 113 minutes. However each chapter is a timing for the action in the chapter. I guess they add up to the 113 minutes. Wonder if Patterson added them up?

Shorts stories you can read in a couple of hours.... okay, I'll bite.

A mother's revenge. A little far-fetched. She has no valid reason; she has a gut reaction; but the length and scope of this revenge is ridiculous.

I did like the robberies, though.

Short story about a grieving mother who turns to crime. Okay I can accept a protagonist who is the bad guy, but still this one is wholly unlikeable. And then there are the plot twists. This book seems to consist of Patterson and Dilallo trying to out twist each other. They come thick and fast, with each new twist more ridiculous than the last.

Too far-fetched for my liking. Maybe the book should have been called "113 plot twists and why not to write them".

This is not your typical James Patterson book (quick or not). There are complaints about some books going into way too much detail and oftentimes boring the reader. Not this one! The reader is forced to fill in his or her own blanks as the story progresses. Interesting and captivating read.

I really detested it. It was about some hillbilly people out in the sticks and the woman's 15 yr old son died of a meth overdose so she and her hillbilly brothers decide to get back at the old man who has a huge hillbilly meth business while saving the family farm from foreclosure by robbery. I felt I needed a shower after reading this. Ick. Way to hillbilly for me. Low brow all the way.

My second foray into the world of Bookshots, and one that I enjoyed very much more than the first.

In rural Texas, Molly Rourke's fifteen-year-old son Alex dies of an overdose when he and a friend are experimenting with drugs, and Molly vows vengeance on the operators of the local meth lab, who have been pushing drugs to the schoolkids. She and her two grown-up sons, one with frontline military training, plus a couple of their friends, put into action an elaborate plan that Molly has devised, one that involves a bank heist and much more . . .

I found the tale certainly quite gripping, although for me there were too many characters in Molly's team; perhaps the author felt at least one of the action scenes required five people, but for the rest of the time I kept forgetting that two of them existed. (He himself appears to have lost count on occasion: the five-strong gang at the bank heist is several times referred to as having just four participants.) Another niggle is that, throughout, there's an uncertainty in the use of tenses, as if the text had been initially written in the past tense but then this had been altered to a present-tense narration. (That's a tedious and surprisingly difficult task, as I know only too well -- you always miss a few of the relevant changes on the first go-through!) There's also a plot twist that's thunderingly obvious beforehand and that, when it comes, is delivered with a sort of smugness that made my hackles rise.

These carps aside, I did enjoy this novella, and it was a rattlingly fast read. Good fun, but not one for the ages.

I absolutely loved the twist at the end. Molly's 15 year old son dies of an overdose of meth at school and she knows the local drug dealer is the one who needs to pay for his death. After weeks of grieving, Molly and her brothers come up with a scheme and start working on it. Robbing banks as presidents! It's a bit more than that though. Loved it!

An interesting read, even though it is written in the new format of a short book. Ok read. Recommend. Not my favorite reading style or format. But can still be enjoyable in the bookshot format.

It's called "113 minutes" and I wasted 150 minutes(2 1/2 hours) reading this crappy book. Molly Rourke is going to lose the family farm because she's way behind on payments. So she & her brothers & their wives come up with the brilliant plan to rob a bank first & then a thoroughbred horse auction to get the money to "save" the farm. Of course, when they rob the bank, for some reason no dye packs were put in with the money, so they get away with it. And although they met with some difficulties at the horse auction, they got away with 1.2 million there.
An FBI agent is helping the local police investigate both crimes. And guess what? He marries Molly! It makes no sense at all!
Don't waste your time reading this drivel. I think James Patterson is just cranking out books to make the $$ at this point.

Another great Patterson read. As a mother, I can so Invision taking the law into my own hands and killing the person responsible for the murder of my child or even another family member. I think that I would make their death take longer than 113 minutes though, if at all possible they'd die a slow painful death.

This is the second BoookShot I have read. Not as many twist and intracacies as a full Patterson novel, but still a good read. This one is of a woman Molly whose 15 son was sold crystal meth. After trying it out at school with a friend, he went to hard and overdose. When his mother arrived she was just in time to see her son, Alex, take what was the last of his breaths. In Molly's mind this was murder, but the cops would only see it as an overdose and a mistake. Molly know exactly where the meth came from and knowing the police would do nothing about it she decided with the help of her brothers they would seek revenge for ending Alex's life at the ripe young age of 15. The book has some nice twists and a hell of a surprise in the climax that you won't see coming. Hope you enjoy. - Norman LaVelle

I don't think it's very hard to find a book you will like more than this. I can't see this being anyone's FAVORITE book. The action scenes weren't even good. The only good thing is that this book is fast paced.

It has a good ending, but by that time I was already checked out from how cheesy it was. It got more boring over time and I started skimming near the end. Mediocre.
