My Review:

Whew! My pulse needs to slow down now. My heart was pumping like crazy for awhile there! That ending, that cliffhanger...well, I'm getting ahead of myself, again...

This book was given to me for review from an awesome site, Ebooksforreview, and Kathy (the wonderful lady who runs the site) always has good indie authors you can request for a read and review. This one was a little mysterious-sounding, and I knew it was in my interest area, but I really had no idea what the plot was until I read the book. Glad I chose it, and I hope it gets more exposure. So let's get to it, shall we?

The book starts off right away with Desiree stuck in a truck with the new boy at school, who's tagging along to a bonfire. Blake Thomas, an "unremarkable" looking boy (however, Desiree sees he's really not so unremarkable-looking, but she forces herself to see him that way), seems a little off to Desiree. It might be his insessant questions about her life and plans for after graduation, or it might be his perceptive nature that turns her off. For Desiree is hiding a secret, a secret she has hidden for years, and it has kept her at arm's length from the people in her life. Blake persists in asking Desiree to give him riding lessons, and because she needs the money so that after graduation she can travel, she begrudgingly complies. Each lesson he gets more and more under her skin, trying to peel back the layers that make up Desiree. But she's used to keeping secrets: her super-stamina and strength have been used only in extreme circumstances, and she's been able to explain the abilities away or avoid recognition completely. But Blake seems accident-prone, and he keeps alluding to something; Desiree fears he might suspect her of being the girl last summer who pulled a rolled-over Jeep off the body of a man, saving his life and creating a legend called the Phenom.

Soon, she is caught...but Blake sheds light on her concerns: she's not alone. There are other people like her, converters, that can do the things she does. Just like Blake can. But before she can get more info about the group he secretly belongs to, he disappears, along with her hopes of truly being able to use her abilities and be understood for who she is.

When a chance to get some answers presents itself, Desiree takes it, and deep down hopes it will lead her to Blake...and to the one person that she let it. But Blake was right: she should've stayed away.

Is it Classroom-Appropriate?

Yes. It would be a great way to get boys interested in reading: though the POV is from Desiree, she's a tough chick, and there's plenty of action to keep them reading. It's a fun read, and it has twists and turns that no one suspects...I believe it could be a classroom read or an at-home read. However, for academic merit, there's not much that the book would bring to the table...it's just an enjoyable and suspenseful science fiction read (I believe it's more science fiction than fantasy, but it was put in a fantasy category on Goodreads). So if you're looking for an auxiliary read, or something to get kids (especially boys) reading, then this one is good for that.

Age Range:

Lexile.com does not have it available...this happens a lot with indie books. I would say you could go as young as 12 with this one. No sex, no swearing. It keeps interest for even those with roaming minds. I'd stick with 12 and up. It's a nice, clean read.

End Result:

★★★★★. There is nothing to take away from that rating: the writing is well-paced and well-written, the plot keeps interest, and the characters are flushed out. Desiree can be infuriatingly distant, but you can understand how hard it must be for her to connect with someone. She keeps thinking Blake's attraction to her is out of pity, mainly because she doesn't see herself having anything to offer. Her sarcasm is a defense mechanism, but he's so perceptive that he can see right through it...most of the time:
“What if I want to stay?” I stipulate. I’m tired of them acting like I’m not in the room, like I can’t handle the responsibility of making my own choices. Like I can’t help.

Blake’s incredulous eyes lock on mine. “Why would you want to?”

Why? To find out about my father. To get to the bottom of Doren’s behavior. To be with him. I match his intense expression. “For someone so perceptive, it’s astounding you still don’t know how you haunt me.”

Love that line. He says it to her earlier in the book, and she throws it right back at him.

In the end, there is a cliffhanger...but I won't give it away! I'll just leave you with another awesome quote:

The loss spreads through my system—more powerful than all the other pains, wrongs, and betrayals combined.

Creeping to the rise, I take one last, long look at him. Then, trusting he’ll understand, I move deeper into the forest.

Away from it all.
Away from him.

Like Blake at graduation, I don’t turn around. I don’t second-guess. I don’t even cry. Because when you truly love someone you’re blessed and cursed with the strength to let go.

Right?? I told you...awesome. Just awesome. Berezay, I'm ready for book two.

A bit of a slow start but I enjoyed it more and more as the book went along. The last third of the book was fast paced and crazy! I'm sure glad this series is on kindle unlimited! I'm looking forward to the next book!

I've read several paranormal books, but I thought this one was unique. The abilities that Desiree and Blake had were different but not crazy. It was believable. The relationship between Desiree and Blake flowed naturally. There was some pulling and pushing that made me want the relationship to work. The plot was tight, and the characters were well developed. There were a few twists, which is always wonderful. Great writing style.

I would rate the book between 4-5 stars because the beginning was a little slow for me. I was tempted to skip ahead and learn what Desiree's "special" ability was sooner. After you learn about Desiree's gift, boy does the book pick up the pace. It becomes a thriller, action packed with a purpose. I already bought Book 2, The Keep. I'm very excited about getting into it.

Where to start? Where to start? Where to start? I know I keep writing that and I have been thinking about this review since early this morning. I still I'm trying to decide what to write. I finally made it to the computer to sit and type out my thoughts and all I can think is I want the next book and I NEED to know what happens!!! Usually I am a pretty patient person in general but this story was amazing and it really just hooked me and was one of my unputdownable books. Unfortunately I had to put it down because against my desires to just sit and read family and life were calling. :-)

I just keep wanting to say to Desiree, why???? I love Desiree's character, she's awesome, just pure awesomeness!!! When you read this (or you already have) you'll understand what I mean. The middle, the ending...why Desiree? So many things could have turned out completely differently if you had made different choices. Ok I say that but I'm not complaining about the choices that she made. I probably would have made the same ones and they were perfect for the story. Oh My Word!!!!

If you like(or love) the Divergent series, the Matched series, the Michael Vey series or any other YA dystopian type series I really think you will enjoy and quite possibly LOVE this even more! I haven't read Michael Vey yet(shocking I know-we own the whole series and my kids love them) but I have read all those other series and more and really truly I think this one is my favorite by far. So if you are looking for a new great read and enjoy that genre then you should definitely check this one out.

I've already said it but I'm going to say it again, Desiree is awesome! To some the beginning might feel a little slow paced but I for one actually really liked the pacing of it. We get to see into the mind of Desiree and really figure out who she is; the emotions she is struggling with, the hardship of carrying around her unbelievable physical abilities, the desire to test her power abilities, the awesome (and sad) family life she has, her best friends, pretty much every(or close to it) aspect of her life is laid out for the reader. I really felt that as a reader I could connect with her. Yes she's a high school student and that aspect of my life was over a long time ago, yet she is very mature and very easy to relate to. The way Tenille writes is great because it really connects the reader to the characters emotionally. Desiree has had some pretty rough emotional moments in her life and we read about a couple more that happen as the story unfolds and she's pretty upbeat and,(watch out I'm using the word again) awesome in how she digests the moment and keeps moving forward positively.

I liked the opening of the novel and how the importance of some of the conversations were brought to light not much further into the story. Desiree and her friends are driving to a bonfire with the new guy tagging along. Desiree really isn't too thrilled about that. Graduation is approaching fast for her and her friends and they are all trying to decide what direction to go in life. Blake, aka new guy tagging along, approaches Desiree and asks her to give him horseback riding lessons. Desiree really holds herself back from opening up to any new friendships and even with the friendships and family she has she's pretty closed off. Why you ask? Well, due to her extreme physical abilities she doesn't want to hurt anyone or become the subject of testing if she is discovered by the wrong person.

Blake is bad news for Desiree. She finds herself falling for him and opening up more and more around him. This is dangerous for her because she knows that she can't take back any hints or clues that she gives him and he is very, very perceptive. I really liked all the scenes between these two. If anyone wants a great, sweet romance this will definitely fit the bill. I just loved the chemistry between these two and it was all written without really writing too much detail or direction between them. Read it and see if you agree with me that the amount of writing is minimal verses how much shows between them.

At one point Desiree learns some information that alters her after graduation plans again and has her wanting to head to Portland for any clues or leads. Blake leaves town and makes Desiree promise not to follow him, look for him or remember him. Does it feel like I'm being vague? I am! There's so much awesomeness(again with that word) that I seriously hate to give any spoilers or even hint at what has happened but let me just say that it's past the half way point in the book that Blake leaves and Desiree graduates and heads off to Portland to learn about something from her past.

Unfortunately she does find Blake(fortunate too) but is held for testing. Eeeek! The pace picks up quite a bit once she starts the testing process while being held by a group. There is so much information to take in and so many little plot twists and shifts that it sets up the ending great...leaving you with lots of questions, needing many answers to those questions and dying to know how Tenille is going to start the next book and continue on the series. Oh and can I say again Why Desiree? Ok maybe I already know the answer to why she did what she did at the very end but I have to ask it. Does anybody else feel the same way and want to ask her Why? Or a more appropriate question could be How could you? Have I peeked your interest or just made you frustrated with wondering what all my secrecy, vagueness and Whys and Hows are for?

Before I finish I do have to say I love the cover! Love it!!! I kept wondering why water but once you get into the book and Desiree explains her physical abilities and testing those abilities it will all become clear. Seriously if you enjoy YA and those series I mentioned earlier in my review I think you will really enjoy this one. I can't wait to see more readers discover it and enjoy it like I did. I also want to see what happens with Blake and Desiree. They are pretty high up on my favorite couples list, especially for YA novel couples.

The book is a great clean read, with no swearing or sex. I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone 12(possibly 10 depending on reading ability and comprehension) and up.

Tenille, you're amazing!!!! I'm so proud of you for getting your book published and am so glad I stumbled across it and got the chance to read it. Not being crazy stalker type person here. I know Tenille but haven't seen her in a few years and when I saw her name on the book I thought what are the chances that there's another person by my friend's name. That being said, my 5 star rating and rambling thoughts raving about the book are truly my personal feelings for her great writing and storyline. Read it! I love it and I can't wait for the next book to come out.

I loved the plot! Converting powerful emotions into physical power. How original!

I think many people are going to give this one a well deserved five stars.

I didn't quite work for me. I believe it's an "all me" problem, not the book's.

Where it fell a little short for me was in the development of the relationship between Blake and Desiree.

At 50%, I still wasn't sure how or why they developed feelings for each other when the entire time they'd been frenemies. I needed to hear more of Dezi's thoughts when she was falling for him. I needed to read about her confused feelings, especially the ones that were more tender towards him instead of only the ones where she didn't really like him.

Blake Thomas was hard for me to like. He seemed sneaky and made me suspicious of everything he said and did. He's 20 years old yet seems at least twice that old. The problem is that I didn't trust or believe him even when I was supposed to.

At 70% I was still so disconnected from this story. I just didn't get what the big deal was with the convergence group.

By 75% I was actually getting mad. So many of the decisions made by the MCs were strange to me. I didn't understand their reasoning.

At 83% it became a struggle to even finish the book. The action went from bad to horrible and I couldn't find the "feel good" I wanted from the story.

Bottom line is that I believe this is a good YA paranormal romance plot, but I personally couldn't buy into the MCs. I felt detached and confused by them the whole time.

This is book 1 in a series. It doesn't necessarily end in a cliffhanger, but romance readers will be screaming for the next book.

I'm going to edge this into my 2.5 star category.

Actual rating is 2.5/5 stars.

If there's one book I can give the "it's not you it's me" speach and really mean it, it would be this book. Because I can see the potential in the book, I can see why so many people would like it. I can see a really original idea being presented that had a pretty cool ending.

Yet, I felt nothing. Nada.

You know why? Because I really did not care one bit about the characters. They were ok, they weren't bad or anything, but for some reason I couldn't find it in me to connect with them, love them or even just like them. They were meh individually, they were meh together - I could not see any sort of chemistry between them -, and that meh feeling was so strong it got projected onto the entire story.

So really, this isn't a bad book at all, but if I can't connect/like the characters, then the is almost certainly doomed for me.

I'm really sorry I did not like this, though.

I had a little trouble with this book. I have started reading it like 4 times cause each time I just could not get past the first 50 pages. It was soooo boring… I agree with the comment that the beginning of the book is slow that`s so very true. Don`t get me wrong I do love reading slowing books but it depends on the type of book. From this one particularly I expected more action.
Well when finally I get passed those boring moments the story got really interesting. More or less in the middle of the book story stars picking up the speed and by the end it get crazy.
I like the characters and their interactions with each other, however I have not connected with them as I would like to. The story line was ok, I was intrigued. I think Tenille has created nice society in the book and I would like to see second part.
Overall I am giving this book 3,5 star

What a unique story. I've never read one quite like it and that's a complement to Ms. Berezay because it's hard to find a story that's different these days. They all seem to have been done before. Not this one.

Desiree is a girl with secrets. She can do things. Amazing things. But no one can ever know. High school is not a time to be different. It's a time to fit in, be like everyone else.
Enter Blake, the intriguing new kid with secrets of his own. How does he seem to know so much about her?
Before long, Desiree finds some of the answers she's been looking for, but it only leads to more questions and an even bigger secret her father has been keeping from her that could change everything.
I loved this story so much and can't wait to jump into book two. It's fast-paced, fun, exciting, and dangerous. Blake is wrapped in mysteries that I can't wait to uncover more of.

I'm going to give this book a solid 3 stars.

The beginning is the same story as any other YA book in this over saturated genre. Special girl and special boy meet and fall maddeningly in love. The protagonist is whiny and dramatic. The whole first part is predictable and has been done so many times before.

So why not 1 star? Easily the last half of the book, or more like the last third. Once the action starts and Desiree figures out what is going on, you will be sucked in and not be able to stop until it's finished and leaves you wondering why it's over and with a little bit of heartbreak for good measure.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather a book start slow and end wonderfully than vice versa. I'll definitely be looking forward to the sequel.

Desiree Morgan has this amazing strength that enables her to do incredible things. She can fight like no other, she is an extremely fast runner, she can lift a great amount of weight. But she doesn’t understand how she is this way, or why she is different from others. She learnt at a young age that this ability she has is not something anyone else in her family, or anyone she knows possesses. So she keeps it a secret.

Then Blake Thomas shows up, and sees more than anyone has ever noticed in her. She can’t keep her true abilities hidden, and the more she gets to know him and spends time with him, the more she wonders if she wants to keep her secret hidden from him.

When she is thrown through another loophole, a fire ignites in her, making her want to search out even more of who she really is and what this ability means. And Blake holds the answers.

I enjoyed Desiree a lot. Her drive, her power, her healthy stubbornness and her great wit are all characteristics I can relate to. She is flawed, making her very realistic. Her interactions with everyone throughout this book were perfectly executed. She stays true to herself and this makes her the perfect heroine for this tale.

Blake was a little harder at first. His easy banter with Desiree is great. He has a very sharp mind, but she is right there giving him as good as he dishes out. He had to grow on me in the first few chapters, but soon I found him absolutely fascinating and captivating.

The friendship that develops into romance between these two was engaging, and had me fully immersed in this book. I read this book in a mere 3 days, which is not too bad, considering it was during the working week, and has a full 416 pages.

Due to the length of this book, I felt it gave a full detail of the tale (to this point), and answered all my questions so far. As to the end of Desiree and Blake’s tale, there the readers are left hanging in the most brutal and heartbreaking way imaginable. Now the slow process must start of awaiting the sequel, and hoping the author gives us a continuation in this riveting tale as soon as possible.

I have never really been one to get too excited about super powers, superheroes and such, but I must say, reading this book had me thinking, dreaming, almost longing for what it would feel like to convert. That is how well the whole idea of convergence is portrayed.

Fans of the Divergent series will be sure to love this book!

When I receive a book, I classify it into one of three groups: a book that I can read in short 10-15 minute chunks throughout the day, a book that I need or want at least an hour per sitting to read, or a book that I can read before I go to sleep. I can usually tell which group a book belongs in after reading the first few pages. I thought this would be a good book before bed. After all, there is nothing overly complex about the plot or the vocabulary, so it's an easy read, and it felt like I could easily put the book down to go to sleep after reading a chapter or two.

I was wrong.

The first night, I didn't have a problem with putting the book down to go to sleep. I was reading about a high school girl, Desiree Morgan, who feels like an outsider because she has to hide her amazing superhuman strength. Blake Morgan is another student who asks Desiree for horse riding lessons, and through these lessons, he wants to get to know Desiree better. Both want to know more about the other person without giving too much away about themselves. Typical relationship development.

But then, the next night I started reading, and the action took off. Once she learns that she is a converter (a person who can center and control their energy to do amazing things), I could not put the book down. So much for a good night's sleep!

I am anxiously waiting for the next book (if there will be a next book) to find out what happens!

Book in an exchange for an honest review.

"Redefine your impossible."

First of all, I feel like I couldn't sum up this book better than the description (at least not without giving something away), so I'll just go on with my thoughts and opinions.
I really liked this book; it was such an interesting read and I really don't know where to start. I loved the idea of this book and all the characters in it. The plot and character building were great. I could almost always relate to Desiree and I loved how tough, smart and funny she was. Her relationship with her brother melted my heart. I also really liked Blake; his sense of humor, intelligence and protectiveness over Desiree were all great qualities.
The only thing that bothered me (but obviously not enough for a lower rating) was that the pace was really slow sometimes. But the writer made up for it with some really fast-paced parts, great plot and really developed characters.
I would definitely recommend this book and I am looking forward to the next part.

Desiree Morgan carries a great secret. She hides secret abilities like she can run extremely fast, fight like no other and be amazingly strong. In the first half of this book she struggles with questions about herself. Is she a freak? Where do her abilities come from? She meets this special boy, Blake Thomas, and more questions arise. He also hides secrets...are they both of the same kind?

I kind of struggled through this book, the whole first part is very predictable. The pace was slow and it bothered me that the main characters didn´t talk to each other about obvious things.

The last part of the book is more exciting and both the drama and the pace increases significantly. Even if this book could have been the end of the story, there is supposed to be a sequel. But I don´t feel an immediate need to read part two…

I gave five stars. It starts out a little slow, but than you need a strong foundation and the author delivers this to the reader. The author gives the reader amazing characters that were so vivid you found yourself hating the villains and loving Blake and Desiree, and understanding the motives that are driving these characters. I loved the fight seen where even injured Desiree beats Doren in submission. The author gave strong role model. The plot had lots of twist and turns and kept me having to get to the next page. Great job on a well written series! I cannot wait to see the next book!

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for free as part of the Goodreads Giveaways program. As always, this doesn't affect my review.

I'm not even sure where to start with this. How did something so bad end up so freaking good?

It took me ages to get through the first half of the book. I think part of it is the storyline and part of it is that I'm out of the target age group for this (this is YA, meant for teens, and I'm an adult). We meet Desiree Morgan, a teen facing the usual issues: impending graduation, trying to fit in with her friends, and dealing with the death of her mother. However Desiree has a secret she keeps from everyone, including her family and best friends Nichole and Keith. Desiree has nearly superhuman strength, with an amazing ability to fight. The new transfer student, Blake Thomas, is a blue eyed heartthrob who somehow gets a ~feeling~ that Desiree isn't like her other classmates.

And this is why the beginning, where Desiree meets her love interest, loses my own interest. The opening scene is a car ride to a bonfire, the first time that Blake and Desiree actually interact. Blake came to the school two months before, but Desiree hasn't talked to him aside from having a weird ~feeling~ that there was something suspicious about him. That's not a logical conclusion if he's never said or done anything odd, and at that age, the weird ~feelings~ are those of budding sexual attraction. Desiree acts so tense during this trip for no damn reason that I called into question her sanity as a protagonist. The banter is stale, and in the beginning, her sarcasm and defensiveness aren't justified; in fact, they make her very unlikeable.

The book does gain ground a little with Desiree's relationship with her younger brother Denny (his name makes me want pancakes though). And after like 30 chapters, there is enough interaction between Desiree and Blake to make me feel like it's a real relationship and not one based on InstaLove.

Half the book is boring: Desiree finds out that she isn't the only one with powers, and that Blake himself has powers, and is part of an organization of likewise powerful people. These aren't spoilers, because it's kind of obvious based on the premise. Blake tells her that she's a Converter, which is a person that can channel emotion into physical changes, mostly inside the body (though some have the rare ability to channel this energy externally). A Convergence is like a coven for Converters (the terminology sounds weird). We also learn that Desiree's dad isn't her birth father, and that her bio father was a Converter (everyone has untapped ability, but Converters have a genetic mutation that actually allows them to tap into this power).

There's a bunch of boring but necessary training that Blake has her perform so she can learn to use her powers. He leaves for Secret Mission Reasons, and Desiree makes a promise not to follow him. She does end up following him, though initially not intentionally, and there she meets Blake's Convergence.

This is where the interesting stuff happens. Power struggles, , and a series of tests ensue to ensure that Desiree is the right type of person to be part of this Convergence. This isn't to be taken lightly, for if she fails, they wipe out her memory, and that is painful to the point that some have been driven insane and had to be institutionalized in the real world. The action in the last half of the book is intense. Particularly notable is a test scenario where Desiree is forced to race two other Converters on this rock wall to capture the flag. Desiree, an expert rock climber, doesn't have an easy time as she expects, because the wall is built in sections, and each can rotate independently, making it really hard to fight off the other two Converters and stay on the wall at the same time.

In fact, it is scenes like these that made me really wish that this book (or series...I think there is going to be more than one book) gets optioned for a film or TV series. You get all the action and intrigue without Desiree's infuriating commentary. Though don't get me wrong, Desiree is a far more likeable protagonist than in some ~secret/creepy~ series (e.g. pathetic Anna from Altered, wimpy Bella from Twilight, selfish Grace from The Wolves of Mercy Falls). And even in the boring training parts, or in the test parts, she fails a lot--this is way more realistic than how Wade solves his problems in Ready Player One. I just think a lot of Desiree's narrative deadweight would be eliminated in a film.

I'd recommend slogging through this one. It definitely gets better towards the end. I am looking forward to reading the next book.

First I must say I was given this ebook in exchange for an honest review through Ebooks For Review.
We start with Desiree, a brilliantly created character, who simply wants to be a normal teenage girl. She's hiding a deep secret from everyone she knows, extreme strength and speed-just to name two. She has no clue where it comes from and is the only one she knows with these powers.
Then comes Blake, the new kid, who is the only person who has ever noticed that Desiree is special. He talks Desiree into giving him riding lessons to get to know her better.
As the two get closer, she is tempted to tell Blake her secret and is questioning if he too possesses these powers.
Then she receives extremely shocking news and dedicates herself to finding out the truth about her powers. When she tells Blake, he confesses who he truly is-sort of-and warns her to stay away from it all. He says she must continue keeping her secret and for her sake he disappears from her life.
So the hunt begins. She feels she has no one. Between exposed family secrets and Blake leaving, she just wants to know where she belongs.
I'm hesitant to say more and there's so much more! This book is amazing and very comparable to Shatter Me by Mafi, which I also loved. The characters are perfectly constructed, the settings and action scenes are so visual. I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy it because of the similarities with the prior mentioned book but was just different enough that I devoured it. Plus it's clean! That's so refreshing! Please read this!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I kind of struggled through this book. I thought the beginning was really interesting and then it started getting a little crazy for me. I would have given it more stars but there were so many slow parts for me, it wasn't a page turner for quite a few parts but then in other parts of the book, it was. I love the relationship that she has with her brother and dad. I love that she and her brother especially are so close and spend a lot of time together doing physical activities such as sparing. I love that instead of being jealous and angry that she is so strong, he uses it to his advantage and they have fun. I really like Blake's character as far as how kind he is and how he truly cares for Desiree. I love that he pushes her to be her best and tries to keep her safe. I would like to read the sequel just for the fact that I'd like to see how it all ends. I hope that Desiree is able to keep the same relationship with her brother and father. Even though there is supposed to be a sequel, this book could have been the end of the story. I wouldn't have necessarily been happy with it, but I understand the sacrifices that would be made if it were the end.

As the description of this book gives a great plot summary, I'll discuss my overall impression of the book. I received a free early copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I wish I could give 3.5 Stars instead of 3 or 4 Stars. Although I enjoy the whole idea of convergence and how it can be manifested in different people, I felt the story itself could be tighter. The first part of the book moved a bit slow for me. The plot really starts moving once you are about halfway in. Once it really gets started it moves very quickly and it's hard to put the book down. I finished it fairly quickly. I enjoyed Desiree and her wit. She was strong physically and sharp mentally. Blake is mysterious but one can tell fairly quickly that he is falling for Desiree. He also is multidimensional. Her family and friends are believable and likeable. There are some strong characters in the Convergence as well, complete with villains. There were a number of grammatical errors I hope were corrected by the time the final book was published. Overall it was an enjoyable read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. I expect it will be even better!

I received a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review. I have the Kindle edition and it was read to me via my iPad Accessibility features. The opening scene immediately grabbed my attention. I loved the riding scenes as I have always loved horses and have experience of riding. The characters are well fleshed out and I could really feel for Desiree and felt she was a strong but somewhat vulnerable character which is not surprising with everything she has been through in the past and other tough situations she goes through in the book. I found myself feeling glad that Thomas, aka Blake, was there for her. There was enough detail and description to not bore me, and the plot took some very interesting twists and turns. This was the first Tenille Berezay book I have read. A good mix of action, love and intrigue. The plot and pace were easy to keep up with, never rushed, yet drew me in and kept me hooked. I realised I wanted to know more about how the story would pan out and also the characters' fate, so I kept at the book, and I am glad I read it.

The Convergence – Here comes your new favorite YA series

I was stunned by how much I liked this booked. I liked all the characters. The main hero and heroine were complex and their connection slowly built up throughout the entire book. As the story progressed the side characters were nicely introduced as well, just like how the pieces of the world and story slowly fell into their places.

Here are the thing I didn’t like about this book:
• It was written in present tense, which bothered me in the first quarter of the book till I finally got used to it.
• The parkour, climbing, riding and other action in the first half was not interesting for me. It was just too detailed for my taste.
And that’s all.

I know, it’s hard to believe, and these points only depends on my preferences, but I couldn’t find any other fault in it. Tenille Berezay has a beautiful writing style and not afraid to use it to enchant us with this new young-adult series. I’m looking forward to read her future releases.

There were three things about the book that made me love it this much:

First of all, the characters were built up well and plausible. From Desiree the main character, to the evil villain. Due to the fact that they had fair motives for their actions.

Secondly, the story line was great. In the beginning it was a bit slow, but towards the middle it starts picking up speed and in the end it is full of action. The ending took me by surprise and was not predictable. Moreover I love the world Berezay has created. The world of converging.

And third, I agree with the message the author Tenille Berezay is giving with this book. That you can achieve more than you thought was possible as long as you keep fighting and don't give up. "Redefine the impossible"

I can hardly wait for book two! And I would recommend reading this book to everyone who loves young adult books!

I'd heard good things about The Convergence and so I downloaded it on my Kindle, hoping that what I'd heard was true.

I'll admit, the notion of a teenage heroine with supernatural abilities is not a new one, but even so, this felt fresh to me. Desiree Morgan is a Converter, which she realizes under the tutelage of the handsome but mysterious Blake. On a search to find out what happened to her father, she finds others like her, and entire company of them, but rather than welcome her into the fold, they seem to have their own agenda that doesn't involve her.

The pace of this story started out on the slow side, picking up steam at the halfway point and kicking into HIGH gear in the last 25%. I was very impressed with Ms. Berezay's writing style, and I find myself quite intrigued by how the story will continue.

Convergence is a well written book by Tenille Berezay. I was immediately intrigued by Desiree her personality and character and the secret she holds from everyone in her life. The book has a great build up of characters and how she introduces them flows easily and is not forced. I was speeding through the last chunk of the book because of the well developed tension and suspense the author writes between the two main characters. The mystery of the converters is well written and it keeps you interested and you still understand what it is and what is going on. This is a unique setting and very refreshing from the dystopian books that are often found in YA depending on where you look.

I was given a free copy of this book for my honest review.

Pro: I think the author did a great job with the story that was written. It had a great speed to the writing and the story stayed moving without any slow area. You were able to like or dislike the charters but you did start to care about what happened to them.

Con: I know my rating is a little low but the reason why is the story line is so close to the Michael Vey series of book. If you have read the Michael Vey stories then please know it will fill like you are reading the same book. Kids who are adopted and have superpowers being hunted by the big corporation to try and steal their power.

Young Adult novel with young coming of age girl with superhero powers and an unknown background, finding herself in the course of the story. Pursued and aided by Blake, there is a lot of tension and secrecy throughout, a fear of not being accepted, of being misunderstood, which would seemingly be very appealing to teenage readers. Most of all, I enjoyed the fact that the origins of the main character were kept secret, leaving the reader in curiosity and making it a difficult book to put down. Also, setting it in an otherwise typical highschool setting added an element of realism which added to the authenticity of the story. YA fans will love this!

You would think because I am related to Tenille, I would have to write an awesome review. However, her writing speaks for itself and it doesn't matter the family relations. I was captured from the beginning by Desiree's story, but even more so by the handsome and charming Blake. I stayed up to late trying to finish this awesome first novel by Tenille! This better be only the beginning because it is to good to end!

I received this book for honest review

The characters were well written, as was the storyline. I did struggle with the beguinning of this book but eventually did continue to read and enjoyed. Would definitely read more books from this writer when written/published. I read this book more leisurely than I read most books which is why there is a delay in review, nothing to do with the way the books has been written as was enjoyed,

I absolutely loved this book!! The story and plot were intriguing and kept me turning pages well past bedtime. I loved the characters and their interactions with each other. Even though I finished it late at night, I would have started book 2 immediately if it was available. I can't wait to read more from this author and series!!
