"His injured arm ached with a deep implacable ache."…and then again:
"The door swung back to reveal a small room lined with shelves lined with Mason jars."
"Mallory's shoulder ached with a vast, throbbing ache."Story itself isn't completely terrible, but as usual everyone involved is more caricature than character, (fat, stupid, bucktoothed, redneck, buxom, etc.). And speaking of, there's one particularly creepy note when he almost hooks up with his teenage daughter's best friend, ("I'm nineteen, Jeff. I'm a woman. Certainly Lori's my friend, but that doesn't…doesn't…").
