Hunt of the Dragon is book four, the final book, in the Vale of Stars series by Juliette Cross. It’s been quite a while since the third book came out in this series. I was worried I would have trouble jumping back into this world. That was not the case at all. It felt like it was just yesterday as I began this book and was drawn back to this world of Morgons, half dragon, half human hybrids. I have to mention here that Juliette often starts her books with amazing prologues that set the stage for what follows. But this time, she did something different. And let me tell you, goose bumps happened! I was spellbound.

Krissa Nadeem is a human journalist and is on assignment when she convinces her guide to take her a little further, beyond the borders of where they are allowed to venture. With her camera, she captures a sight no eyes have ever seen before. Something that shocks her beyond reason. At home, she quickly deletes the images but somehow, they are discovered and she is summoned to the offices of her best friend’s mate, a man who is a friend, but in this instance, she fears that friendship will hold little value.

Bowen Huntergild is Morgon and works for Kol Moonring for the Moonring Guard. This guard has one mission and one goal. To kill the evil Larkos Nightwing, otherwise known as the Blood King, and take down his entire faction. Larkos wants to conquer all. He hates the humans and uses Morgons only if they will serve him. He devastates one city after another. His tyranny must be stopped. Bowen has a particular interest in taking down Larkos. Larkos captured both his sisters. One was rescued and is recovering. The other died while in captivity at the hands of a Bloodback witch. A witch that is visible in Krissa’s photograph. A witch that Bowen has vowed his vengeance on behalf of his sisters. A witch that Krissa will lead him to.

“For all his stern sharpness, his smile made him utterly beautiful.”

As Bowen and Krissa begin their journey, they are strangers, but it’s immediately obvious to them both that there is something between them, a pull, a connection too strong to understand. Only Bowen quickly figures out what it is. He soon realizes that this human woman was made just for him. And he will do anything to keep her safe.

“I’d never known I was missing something until her. That a part of my soul had been wandering out in the world without me.”

I love this world of Morgons who love so deeply, who will lay down their lives for their mates. This book was full of so many surprises. I couldn’t put it down. It builds throughout to the final, epic showdown, of good versus evil, of right versus wrong, of light versus dark. I have read every book in this world, from the original Nightwing Trilogy, and then this Vale of Stars series. My heart was both sad as I finished this final book but also glad to have enjoyed these characters and been a part of this world. I have long been a fan of Juliette Cross and I will always first associate this world with her as it’s the first experience I had with her work. But, with that being said, it’s time to say goodbye to my Morgon friends, and I can’t wait to see what she is going to do next.

I’m a bit late to the party catching up on the finale in what has become one of my favourite series’ from Juliette Cross, and although it’s been a couple of years since the last book, it took no time at all to fall back into the magical world where human and dragon hybrids coexist.

description War is upon us, and we’re fighting for our lives. It’s always good to have someone to fight for.”

Bowen and Krissa seriously deliver on the romance and true to series form love hard and fast and fight with everything in them to overcome evil. And whilst the focus is absolutely on them, all of the characters we’ve met and loved throughout the Nightwing and Vale of Stars series’ play an important part as judgement day nears.

description I’d never known I was missing something until her. That a part of my soul had been wandering out in the world without me.”

As is often the case when you finish a series you’ve loved it’s a bittersweet feeling, but undoubtedly a ride I recommend.

Oh my gosh!!! We finally have Bowen’s story!!!

I’m absolutely in love with this world and it’s diverse cast of characters. I especially love the heroes. These guys will do anything to protect their mates (even before they become mated) and their jealousy and possessiveness is delicious and exactly the type of thing I crave. Bowen was all of that and so much more as he never dominated over Krissa and was so sweet and gentle with her. The fact that their relationship developed organically was wonderful and really gave me a chance to see these two together.

Krissa was a tough heroine without being over the top alpha feminine. I loved that she was more than capable of handling Bowen and was never one to make the type of decisions that cause me to roll my eyes. She knew what she was waiting for and once she recognized it, she knew why she had waited for so long. I absolutely adored her!

This is easily read as a stand alone as the author updates us on all the details related to the storyline. And holy heck, what a storyline!!! This had so much action, adventure, drama, and danger involved that I couldn’t stop reading. Add in all the smexy details of this couple becoming mates and I was drooling as I turned pages. When the end came, I was a bit sad to say goodbye, but wow, this did this series justice in every way. A perfect ending.

I didn’t realize how much I needed this book!! I’ve been wanting to read it since it released last year so I could finish off the series and feel complete. And my goodness, do I feel complete. And satisfied. And happy. And also a bit sad it’s over. Such bittersweetness. I’m going to miss this amazing world and all the characters in it.

With the author’s talented storytelling skills, I was easily transported back to the magical world of sexy Morgon men and women and the adventures that happen there. Vivid descriptions so perfectly penned had me diving head first into the pages and feeling like I was there experiencing every single thing.

Bowen has always intrigued me. When I read the previous books, I always wanted more of him. He was so broody and quiet and such a gorgeous badass Morgon. Since Hunt of the Dragon is his book, we get LOTS more Bowen.

Krissa has always thought Morgon men were attractive, hot AF actually. So when she sees Bowen, and then realizes she gets to be closely strapped to him for a long period of time while flying with him, she couldn’t be more thrilled. And a bit tingly in all the right places. The chemistry between them sparked and sizzled and lordy they were full of passion. *heart eyes* I thoroughly enjoyed their story and watching them get to know each other, care for each other, protect each other, and realize they belong together.

And let’s not forget all the HEART this story is filled with. I loved, loved, loved watching the relationships between Mykah and everyone. Some scenes were so sweet and emotional, they brought tears to my eyes. He’s a very special character and I fell for him instantly.

There were intense scenes that had me gripping my kindle tighter, touching moments that pulled at my heartstrings, and delicious steamy parts so hot they could start a fire. To say I loved this book is an understatement. This was a perfect ending to an amazing series.

I FLIPPING LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! The finale of the Vale of Stars series is finally finished and it did NOT disappoint!!! While it’s been over 2 years since book 3 was released, I was able to start reading Hunt of the Dragon without being lost or trying to remember what happened previously. While it is a standalone romance, I highly recommend starting at the beginning to have the entire backstory.

Hunt of the Dragon features Bowen Huntergild and Krissa Nadeem. Bowen, a Morgon tracker, is looking for every advantage he can find to defeat Larkos, the Blood King, when photojournalist, Krissa, snaps a photo of the person responsible for his sister’s death while on a scouting trip outside of safe boundaries.

While I am sad to see this world of dragon hybrids end, Juliette Cross finished up the series extremely well in my opinion. Reading the final battle scene, played out like a movie in my head. I can truly see this on the big screen one day!!! Kudos!!!

Received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Hunt of the Dragon is the spectacular conclusion to one of my all time favorite series. I have been anxiously awaiting Bowen & Krissa’s story and JC did not disappoint! It has all the humor, action, suspense, & steam with a capital S that we’ve come to expect from her. I highly recommend starting at the beginning if you haven’t read the first 3 in this series as Vale of Stars is definitely best devoured in order. There’s also an amazing spin-off series titled Nightwing. While I’m SO sad that it’s come to a close I have hope for future spin-off stories featuring Bastien, Mykah, etc. and I’m very much looking forward to what comes next!

I had almost forgotten how brilliant these Morgon books actually are.
The final in this series did not disappoint as it has the magnificent Bowen Huntergild who has featured in previous books but this one is all about him & Krissa who is his fated mate.
Krissa photograph’s a young dragon boy & his mother on an illicit trip into forbidden lands. This comes to the attention of the Morgons as it was thought that dragons were all killed. Krissa is sent with Bowen to show where this was taken so that the Morgons can capture the mother & protect the dragon boy.
Many of the previous characters are back in this book & we find out about “The Vale of Stars”. It is a really enjoyable finale but still has a full storyline for Bowen & Krissa.
I love love loved it!

4.5 stars-HUNT OF THE DRAGON is the fourth and final instalment in Juliette Cross’ adult VALE OF STARS paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on a dragon hybrid species known as the Morgons. This is twenty-something photojournalist and human Krissa Nadeem, and forty-something Morgon assassin Bowen Huntergild’s story line. HUNT OF THE DRAGON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

NOTE: There is a novella companion series entitled NIGHTWING (Soulfire #1 / Windburn #2) that introduces several of the characters and some background history into the war between the Morgons and humankind. I would strongly recommend reading the Nightwing companion series before starting the Vale of Stars series. This is not a series about dragon shifters but a hybrid species with specialized powers, wings and the ability to fly.

Told from three first person perspectives (Krissa, Bowen, Mykah) HUNT OF THE DRAGON focuses on the hunt for the person responsible for killing Bowen’s sister Lena. Krissa Nadeem is a human, a photojournalist who has captured the image of Bekkanine Bloodback, a murderer, a priestess who uses dark blood magic for evil gain, and as such Bekkanine has now given birth to something the Morgons have not seen in thousands of years. In an effort to capture the witch who took his sister’s life, Bowen enlists Krissa Nadeem to reveal the location of the priestess and her son but to Bowen’s surprise, Krissa is his mate, and his ‘soulfire’ burns with the need to claim our heroine as his own. What ensues is a cross country journey on the hunt for the priestess, and the potential fall –out as a war is on the horizon with Larkos Nightwing and the Larkosian army, a marauding army of soldiers, killers, rapists and slavers.

Bowen Huntergild never thought he would find the one woman that set his soulfire aflame. Flying our heroine on a cross country journey finds our couple up close and personal as they search for the priestess who took Lena’s life. Krissa Nadeem is best friends with Moira (Waking the Dragon) and Jessen, already mated to Morgan men, and as such our heroine is acutely aware of the Morgon’s soulfire and their need to mate but Bowen and Krissa are on a mission, a mission that will see a mating, and the recovery of a young boy whose existence is unlike anything anyone has ever seen.

The relationship between Bowen and Krissa is one of immediate attraction but begins as a working assignment to locate a killer. The sexual tension is palpable; the chemistry is sizzling and hot. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is as large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples from both series including Demetrius and Shakara, Moira and Kol, Conn and Valla, as well as Lucius and Jessen, and Lorian Nightwing (Nightwing series). We are introduced to Mykah, and the return of Bastien Silverback. Here’s hoping the author has plans for new spin off series.

HUNT OF THE DRAGON is a story of betrayal, revenge, power and control; a story of family, grief, vengeance and reflection. The character driven premise is complex, detailed and entertaining; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are dynamic, charismatic, strong and determined. HUNT OF THE DRAGON is a wonderful ending to a fantastic series.

Hunt of the Dragon is an epic conclusion to the Vale of the Stars series. I was engaged from the very beginning and the author’s writing kept me invested in Krissa and Bowen’s story. The book is full of action, adventure, and suspense. Krissa and Bowen’s story is divine. Their romance blossoms so sweetly with many “aw” moments. Of course, it happens while they are hunting for an enemy of the Morgon Guard. As they track the enemy, Krissa and Bowen find themselves growing closer to one another. We also get to visit some of the favorites from previous books in the Morgon world.

While many readers were chomping at the bit for the final book in the Vale of Stars series, I was over here secretly hoping that the author decided not to end with Bowen and Krissa’s story. Juliette Cross’s Morgon world is one of my favorite places to visit and I don’t want to let go. I was equal parts sad and excited when the author announced the release of book 4. I wanted to devour it yet spend as much time savoring the story as possible. I somehow managed to do both. I couldn’t put Hunt of the Dragon down but read it at a much slower pace then I usually read. See, that’s the devouring it but not so fast that I couldn’t savor the story, the characters, and the suspense way I read this book.

Holy cows is Juliette Cross a master at writing dragon romances – actually, anything she’s written, really. I love all her books. They are filled with passion, realism, and chemistry. I was engaged from the start and couldn’t put the book down. Her ability to create paranormal stories with romance, action and a solid plot is what keeps me coming back.

***5 Stars***

While I’m sad that this is the last book of the series, I gotta say, this baby went out big. It pushed all the right buttons for me in every way possible and gave me everything I wanted and more.

I adored Krissa and Bowen. Krissa is adventurous, but not impetuous. She is all kinds of sweet and sassy, but has a good head on her shoulders. Bowen is even keel, for the most part, and leans towards doing the right thing, even when his emotions are riding him hard. Their journey to their HEA was a fun, low on the angst one, which I personally liked because of all that was going on with the Larkosian’s ~ that was more than enough drama for me. But while things did happen quickly between, it didn’t feel like anything was rushed. They got to know each other not only through conversations, but actions and they the kind of flow that made them work for me and in the end, I loved how everything worked out for them.

As I said at the start, I’m sad that this is the last book in the series BUT I am crossing my toes that this won’t be the last time we get to visit the Morgon world because there are still so many characters that I need more of, so toes crossed there. But if it is the last, I loved how everything played out. I got to spend time with so many favs Kol (Le sigh *BSEG*) & Moira, The Nightwings and their women, Demetrius and Shakara make an appearance and Conn and Vella ~ Conn cracked me, and then there is Bastian...I mean the list goes on and on. And then there is Mykah and Grandma Rita and Julian...the list is a long one. But, yeah. If this is the last, it was a great one!

Hunt of the Dragon by Juliette Cross is the 4th and final book in her fabulous Vale of Stars series. I am a huge fan of Cross, having read most if not all her books. She is an amazing author, who never fails to give us terrific exciting stories (paranormal world), with great couples, fantastic secondary characters, action filed and steamy. Hunt of the Dragon was a great addition to this series, and as always, I loved our wonderful couple.

Krissa Nadeem, our heroine, is a journalist who also excels in taking great photos. She just came back from secretly observing the evil Larkosian army destroying various towns and people. One of the pictures she took and thought was destroyed has gotten the attention Kol Moonring, who calls her to a meeting. As nervous as she is, she is surprised to see Bowen Huntergild, one of the most powerful Morgons, also attending the meeting. Seems one picture Krissa took was that of a witch and her son (who is a dragon), and both men want to know where she took it. The witch in question is the one who killed Bowen’s sister, and the boy is a rare full dragon. Kol tells Krissa that she will go with Bowen to find the place she had been, in order to find the witch and her son, who they want to protect.

Bowen Huntergild, our hero, works for Kol and the Moonring Guard, and is determined to enact revenge for his sister’s death, but he knows that the witch maybe able to help them turn the tables against the evil Larkos Nightwing; and the boy needs to be protected, as he is the only living full dragon, whom Larkos will try to kill. Larkos is known as the Blood King, and he has brought about destruction across all cities, moving along the way to destroy the remaining Morgons. He needs to be stopped, but so far, the good guys have not been successful. Will the boy who is a dragon, Mykah be the one to save them all?

When Bowen and Krissa begin their journey, they both begin to sense something between them. He fairly quickly, knows she is the one for him, as he can feel the soulfire within. Krissa was a great heroine, smart, savvy, and tough, but she also knows there is something between her and Bowen that pulls on her emotions. Bowen was a fabulous hero, not only a great warrior, but he was so sweet with Krissa, and treated Mykah like a son. I really liked Mykah too, as we watched him slowly trust our heroes, as well as see how quicky he magically ages and becomes powerful.

What follows is a very exciting, action packed adventure that will bring back many of our favorites from the earlier books, as well as those from the original Nightwing series. I loved seeing them all. In a short time, Bowen and Krissa will succumb to the soulfire burning within, with each bonding together. I will say they made such a great couple; I loved them together

Hunt of the Dragon was a fascinating read, from start to finish. To tell too much more would be spoilers, and since this is the finale, you do not want to miss a thing, as this was an amazing climax. Juliette Cross has done an amazing job writing this story with a wonderful satisfying conclusion. Hunt of the Dragon was exciting, action packed, suspenseful and steamy romance. If you have not read Juliette Cross, what are you waiting for?

A perfect finish to a phenomenal series! My full review will be over at the LitBuzz website closer to release day.

Bowen and Krissa’s romance is perfect for any type of reader. Krissa is smart, fierce, fearless, and kind to everyone she meets. Bowen is her perfect counterpoint. He’s renowned for his tracking skills, his ability to pick up the slightest change in the wind or someone’s countenance makes him a fierce Morgon, and also the kind of male that is so addicting to read because it makes him intuitively attuned to the needs of his love interest. *swoon*

I loved the overall storyline that ties each book of this series together. While this is the final book, and each could be read as a standalone—it would be best and I highly recommend—readers should definitely start with the previous books in the series so as not to ruin any major plot points regarding The Vale of Stars.

I’ll admit I’m a bit bereft now that this series is over. Juliette Cross is one of those rare storytellers that never disappoints in any fictional world she creates, or genre that she tackles. If you haven’t read any of her books, what the heck are you waiting for?

* I was a BETA reading for this book, but my review is solely based on my personal opinion.

After waiting for what felt like eternity, we FINALLY have the final book to this amazing series, Vale of Stars. I've never had to wait this long for a final book, but this was SOOOOOOO worth it. And to be completely honest, now I'm a little sad that it IS over....

Krissa is a photojournalist. After capturing an image of the most sought after enemy, she's become the only person to lead the Morgan Guard to the location in hopes to capture this creature. But her journey becomes more than location. In fact, it changes her life forever.

Bowen is one of the Morgan Guardsmen. He's also the one Krissa is guiding to this mysterious location. Known for his deadly assassin skills, he's the best person to send for this job. But having Krissa this close to him is starting to have an effect on him that he wasn't expecting...soulfire. How? He's only known her for like.....a week. I guess the fates have their own plan.

YOU GUYS!!!!!! I seriously couldn't get enough of this story. Not only was I captivated by Krissa and Bowen's relationship, but finally finding out what the Vale of Stars is and confronting the Blood King had me absolutely consumed!!!! I LOVE THIS SO HARD!!!!

This was a great story! I haven’t read any of the books in this series that I can recall, I could have. This one is a great conclusion because they took out the bad guy and brought peace to everyone. I like Juliette’s books she tells a rousing good story that keeps you engaged and interested. She wraps everything up in a nice little bow, but I wonder if we will see any of the younger characters in future books? I can’t wait to find out!

Hunt of the Dragon is book four and the final book in the Vale of Stars series by Juliette Cross.

Its been a while since we had a book in the Vale of Stars series. I jumped right back in and enjoyed ever moment. We finally complete the overall ARC that was started at the beginning of the series with the resurrection of Larkos the Blood King. We get to see the prophecy play out and along the way we get a sweet and lovely romance between a Morgan and human.

I was be spelled from the very first page to the last. I love returning to the Morgan world of half dragon/half human hybrids. I just love dragons!

Krissa is a journalist and she wants to get pictures of the destruction Larkos arm is doing, so she convinces her guard to leave the safety of Gladium. She captures something that will change her fate and the lives of those in this world.

Bowen is a hunter. He’s been on the hunt for the sorceress/priestess who killed his sister in a blood sacrifice and he also wants to destroy Larkos army for what they did to both of his sisters. He wants vengeance, but fate has other plans for him.

Krissa and Bowen are strangers when they start their journey, yet as with all Morgan kind, they know at once when they find their mate. Krissa does feel this connection/pull toward Bowen and since her best friend is mated to a Morgan she has an inkling of what it could mean.

I have read every book in this world from the original Nightwing Trilogy to the Vale of Stars. I have enjoyed the characters and this world immensely. I do hope we can return to this world one day, but if this is truly the end I am satisfied. Juliette cross has take me on a wonderful journey.

Hunt of the Dragon is full of surprises, action, and twists. We get a wonderful build up to the final epic showdown of good versus evil. I highly recommend both the Nightwing and Vale of the Stars series; especially if you are a dragon lover.

Rated: 4 Stars

2.5 stars.

I skipped quite a bit of this as I don’t enjoy erotica. However, I really wanted to see how the whole series ended and I have to say that I found the resolution to be very satisfying.

What didn’t work for me was the instalove but the story arc of the series itself was well paced and interesting.

👏👐Once again Juliette cross has written another fabulous book in her Vale of Stars series! This is the final book in the series and ending it with the dragon shifter Bowen and his mated one Krissa made my day! I've loved bowen from the beginning and wanted him to get his happy ending and his story was worth the wait! Juliette cross is a fabulous storyteller and through 4 books has kept the storyline flowing flawlessly with great writing and intriguing characters like these beautiful dragon shifters! The only thing I love as much as vamps are dragons!!! And this is full of beautiful and powerful dragons both male and female. This last book is full of action and sizzling steamy sex scenes that gave me the sweats !! Cross knows how to turn up the heat!! I will miss this series terribly but I love how Juliette wrapped things up! With twists and turns and a revelation that knocks everyone for a loop! I don't want to say anymore, but if you love sexy hot dragon shifters ( and who doesn't) pick up not only this book but all the books in this series! This can be read as a stand alone like all the others in this series, but I think you'll want to know more about all these intriguing characters and their mates back stories from this world !!! Until next time Luv's💋💕

I KNEW Bowen Huntergild would be my absolute favorite of the Morgons, when I got to read his book.

But here's the thing... Okaaaay, that is NOT where the hymen is located, nor how it works. It is not that far into the vaginal canal. It is, at most, LESS THAN AN INCH inside it. And it tends to not be a solid sheet, that needs to be ripped through. It's also elastic-y, SO.

I know this is a fantasy world, but COME ON, she's human.

ALSO the hymen is not an indicator of virginity 🙄 Virginity is just a social construct, ffs.

Moving on from that... I fell in love with so many characters and future couples in this, that I just really wanted more of an epilogue... And books for those characters and couples. Sad to say goodbye to this world.

I loved the finale of the Vale of Stars series! I was sad to see it end but very satisfied with the way everything was explained and tied up.

I love the world that Juliette created with all the different Morgan clans with different dragon gifts. The story is full of action, adventure, and suspense. Plus Krissa and Bowen’s romance and HEA is perfect. I loved their connection and how protective he was of her from the first moment.

It was great catching up with the all the other great characters from the previous books and meeting Mykah who played a big part in bringing together and wrapping up the whole prophecy.

********** Contains Spoilers**********

Wow, I loved this book. I was definitely one of my favourites books of the series. It was easy to pick up who was who even if it’s been ages since book 3 came out, so I didn’t need to read the series again, but I’m going to go back and do so anyway like I have already done over the years since I first read Soulfire. I love this world that Juliette has created with all the different Morgan clans who all have different dragon gifts. I loved the connection between Krissa and Bowen. I loved how protective he was even from the first moment. All I can say is that man he can fight and you really wouldn’t want to harm someone he’s cares about or someone innocent as you’ll meet his blade without even realising it. I loved getting snippets of all the characters from the previous books in this universe. I loved wee Mykah and loved Krissa’s automatic protective instincts when it came to him and I loved how Bowen gave him a chance even though he was angry at his sister’s life being taken so Mykah could become a dragon but after Mykah apologised, even thought it wasn’t his fault it was his mothers’ Bowen started to accept him, then started to love him.

He was absolutely amazing and fingers crossed we get a book about him in the future as I’d love to see him all grown up, well when he’s his mental age to be that of his body. Man. Wolfgang Icewing was a pushy a*se who didn’t take rejection from Krissa well, especially after he found out that Bowen and her had mated he was still b*tt hurt that they’d mated after only a week whereas he’d had to wait 3 months just for a kiss, he shouldn’t have touched her even before finding out that but after is even worse. I loved how Bowen and Kol put the Morgan men who were acting like complete d*ckheads to Moira and Krissa in there place and told them that anyone under their command shouldn’t act disrespectful or forceful against anyone weaker than them, they are human too and not just their beasts otherwise they may as well be Larkosian’s if they keep doing it. I thought this book was a fantastic ending to the Vale of the Stars series but I’m hoping this isn’t the end of this universe as that would be a shame. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Perpetuates anatomical myths

The story and the romance are fine, the grammar and sentence structure are mostly correct, but I was left really wanting to clarify something: hymens are not remotely like what are described in this woman's writing. The writing implies that it is a painful freshness seal marking you as a virgin. In the reality we live in it is a flexible, stretchable, vestigial bit of skin more akin to the webspace between your fingers. Generally you're not going to feel it as "resistance" with your fingers. It isn't unusual for it to be broken by vigorous physical activity, like kickboxing; neither is it unusual to have a pregnant person with an intact hymen. So, just a heads up for the reader, this is apparently an alternate reality with alternate human anatomy which coincidentally matches old, misogynistic myths about said anatomy.

Hunt of the Dragon by Juliette Cross is the fabulous fourth and final episode in her epic Vale of Stars steamy paranormal series. In full disclosure, I’m a huge fan of Juliette’s books, including this series. Even so, I was totally captivated by this installment from the prophecy to the prologue all the way to the end. Hunt of the Dragon features Morgan Bowen Huntergild and photojournalist Krissa Nadeem as its main characters – and while their romance is awesome – this book comprises much more than the romance as the arc that has encompassed the entire series evolves towards conclusion. Please know that this tale is told from multiple viewpoints - mostly Bowen’s and Krissa’s – but Mykah, a young dragon who may be the one in the prophecy to save them all, contributes to the storyline too.

Even though this is the fourth installment, this story could work as a standalone. However, for your best enjoyment, if you have the time, I’d recommend reading the series in order.

As the story begins, while on assignment, Krissa has taken a photo of a wanted witch and her dragon son. That photo comes to the attention of Bowen. His sister was killed by that Bloodback witch and Bowen has sworn to bring her to justice. War with Larkos Nightwing and his Larkasians is imminent but Krissa and Bowen embark on their dangerous mission into enemy territory to bring in the witch and her son. Close calls abound which serve to keep me on the edge of my seat. Along the way, the couple find that they share a strong attraction and that they are meant to be together. They make a great couple.

Following are just a few of my favorite excerpts from Hunt of the Dragon chronicling Juliette’s wonderful way with words:

“No,” he said sharply. “I’ve taken no woman in this town.”

His thumb stroked the sensitive skin at the base of my throat then trailed over my collarbone, the small movement more intimate than I could imagine. Perhaps it was because his head was dipped low, his face mere inches from mine as he answered my question without condescension or sarcasm like he would someone who didn’t need to know such things. He told me as if I had a right to ask questions about his sex life. But I didn’t. Did I?

When his heated gaze drifted from my eyes down to my mouth, leaving a fiery trail, I was sure he was going to lean in and kiss me. Instead, he lifted his hand from my throat to cup my jaw and swept that same thumb across my bottom lip before lowering his mouth within a breath of mine and whispered, “Not yet.”
---
“When I catch you,” I scraped my teeth down the column of her throat and sucked at her pulse. “I’m not letting you go.”
---
“We’ll be on our way to Wilding Wood in an hour.”

“Your home,” I saw sweetly.

He shook his head, dipping low to capture my mouth. He slid his tongue along the seam and touched his tongue to mine when I opened for him. The kiss turned ravenous for a quick moment, then he pulled back.

“No, my love. It’s not my home anymore. But I’ll be happy to show you where my heart used to live.”

“Where does your heart live now?”

He coasted his hand from my nape to spread his palm over the left side of my chest just above my breast.

“Right here. Always right here.”

I’ve inhaled every installment in this series – but this has to be my absolute favorite. Hunt of the Dragon is an exciting, excellently-plotted, action-packed adventure with a steamy romance. Fans of the series will be happy to catch up with many favorite characters from this world who appear in supporting roles within. You can expect a rocky path and plenty of surprising twists and turns along the way for those united against the evil Larkos, but Juliette wraps everything up in a wonderful, feel-good ending which makes me happy, but also sad, as I hate to see the series end. BUT, what a way to go out! The bottom line is that Juliette writes rocking dragon stories and this one hits all the right buttons.

4.2/5 ⭐️

Nothing can top Kol & Moira but this comes close. I love me some grumpy men who are secretly cinnamon rolls hehe. AND THE CREW CUT?! DEAR LAWD HALLELUJAH. Did the temperature in this room just got hotter??

Krissa was 100% correct, Bowen being able to let go of his rage and hunger for revenge just to protect and help Mykah was THE hottest thing that a man can possess (other than the ‘i’ll kill anybody that touches you’ attitude). My deep-rooted desire of becoming a mother just went off the roof in the middle of reading this book. I, too, would want this man to father my children. Thank you very much.

The fight was a little bit underwhelming especially since we haven’t had any Larkos encounter in the majority of the book. However, the constant status check happening in the background (as we were watching these two beautiful creature fall in love) is appreciated. It kept us from losing interest on the main conflict of the series. Speaking of conflict, I’m just mad that witch didn’t get what she deserved. And the dark creature (sorry sir I forgot your name) who took her 2nd child remained relatively unknown for the rest of the book after that first and last encounter that we had of him.

Maybe we’re getting a new series where Mykah is the main character (or one of) and then he’s gonna meet his younger sister/brother (sorry i forgot) again??? I’ll continue hoping for that. But for now, I’m gonna say that this series has been successful in creating a romantasy world that is not too complicated but still engaging in a way that you’ll want to finish the books, one after the other.

This series was amazing! I didn't leave a review of each book in this series because it was a series. I wanted to read the entire series and then make my comments. Although cruel in its storyline contents of racial divide, rape and cruelty, the story was amazing on how the Morgons and humans came together to rally against a cruel King dubbed "The Blood King". The main characters in the books were very interesting and the way they met their mates were very interesting. This last book, however, the conclusion of the series, but most of the love forming between Bowen and Krissa and the forgiveness from Bowen against Mykah had me in tears. Between the love story of Bowen and Krissa and the story of Mykah and Greta this series had me in tears. I have only cried at one other series before reading this one.

OMG!!!!!

I loooooooooooved it!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰I had to go back and read all the books from beginning to end so I can get back to what was happening and to remember what had happened. So is that it would soulfire and continue but I focus much more in Waking the Dragon not because I had forgotten how the story went but then I did had forgotten Valla & Conn book and the how Kieren & Liana book connected to the last? But once I had read everything I was able to connect all of them together the whole story. Which was awesome I enjoy every minute of it, brought tears to my eyes !!! It was a very exciting book to read, every little thing revealing itself little by little like peeling an onion and at the end it was the best of the best🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
Thank you Juliette 👸👸👸🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Great

3.5 stars for this book

4.5 stars for the ENTIRE series!!!

Let me say this series was EVERYTHING and more. My only negative for this particular was that I had trouble remembering the connection between all the characters from previous stories. That is likely due in part to the large gap of time between the previous stories and this one.

The ending seemed totally rushed. Like 10pages tops to conclude an entire series of drama. The couple was cute. I’m glad Bowen found a mate. Krissa is…well she’s okay. I didn’t feel a deep connection with her like I did with the other girls.

Overall the book was nice and I was glad to see things wrap up with a nice HEA.?
