I checked out this book because of the cover art. #noshame

It also seems I have a knack for picking up 異世界 stories when I'm not even trying to—been happening a lot to me in anime as well. It's just a huge trope in the manga/light novel/anime realm right now so you're guaranteed to stumble on at least one if you're reading new series.

So the main gist of this story is: Hime escapes from another world where she is a princess (way to be creative with her name 😐) and grows up in Japan. <-- pretty much the whole plot of chapter one, hidden if you don't want a summary.

I was worried about a couple of things while I was reading this. The two MCs grew up together and Satou has just realized he's fallen in love with Hime. Just when he's about to admit his feelings, Hime tells him she's moving away the next day. It bothers me when two people should be together but circumstances prevent them all of a sudden. This gets addressed very early-on though and it's not stretched out.

Another thing that bugs me is when people hold back from saying how they really feel and there are unnecessary misunderstandings. Omg, just communicate! Thankfully, this is another thing that quickly gets quashed with Satou and Hime talking things out. The characters feel much more mature and staid, especially Satou with the way he's honest and open about a lot of things.

Then finally we get to the part that almost made me want to stop reading. In order to gain the full power of the ring, Satou must *groans* 😒 I did not sign up for a harem manga. I don't hate them but in this case I really thought that might kill the story for me. Thankfully, So for now, I just have to wait and see.

There's a mild bit of ecchi in this, but nothing super over-the-top. The artwork and character designs are really nice.

This series was a pleasant surprise and I have no qualms about continuing.

This was quite a fun volume, though I am probably not going to read this one further, I was actually kind of hoping this would just be a one girl manga, but instead our MC has to flirt/date/wed a few more girls to get all the rings. I just want Satou x Hime, and not Satou x everyone.
The idea is fun though (well before we knew there were more than one ring). And I just adore Satou and how sweet he was to follow Hime. And to also stay at her side.
The art is also quite pretty!

Art was nice, but...I can see where this is going: HAREM TIME!

Go pick up To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts by the same artist instead: AU version of the American Civil War with beasts.

Though the story is interesting enough for me, I know that I am not the type of reader that enjoys harem manga.
The world, and concept of the story are well done. I just feel this could have been executed differently, and told a deeper story in the process.

Odd, but entertaining enough. I think I will continue in the series at some later time. Other manga's have more priority.

I had a lot of fun with this! It's not the most original story (in fact the story is pretty weak), but I really liked the characters. Satou trying to be brave and even achieving it on the outside, but being really insecure on the inside was endearing. I'm interested to see where his character goes!

Hime may not be the most nuanced character (childhood friend love interest strikes again), but I do like how bubbly and fun she is. Plus, her design is adorable! I also loved how Satou and Hime were honest with each other and decided to be married for real rather than treating it like a ceremonial tradition. I'm amazed this happened in the first volume, usually they drag that shit out and milk it for all it's worth, so kudos Maybe!

Finally, I am BEYOND thrilled that Marse isn't the jaded, slighted potential rival for Satou. He was actually really supportive from the get-go, and while it seems to be because he doesn't want the responsibility, I'm just glad he's a nice, supportive guy.

I was nervous going into this volume because I really like To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts and wasn't sure how I'd feel about a fantasy harem, but I'm pleasantly surprised by this. I'm looking forward to reading more, specifically about the other princesses and their respective cultures. This may not be for anyone, but I had fun and encourage others to give it a try if interested.

Tales of Wedding Rings is rated Older Teen and has bare butt shots for both male and female characters as well as some cleavage (as if you couldn't guess by the cover) as well as a typical bath scene that seems common enough in manga these days. In addition the main character who is chosen by his childhood friend to be the Ring King must convince other girls to marry him as well (she chose him by kissing and ultimately becoming married to him) so if any of this bothers you turn away now because I have a feeling the harem will be strong with this series.

Now with that warning out of the way I enjoy the interaction between the characters in the story. In particular even though the time in the normal world is only a small fraction of the book you can get a feel for how close Hime and Satou are which makes sense when he gives chase after her as she vanishes through a magical portal. Now married by the Ring King rite they find out there is affection between them that neither has acted on before which doesn't make it any less awkward when forced to share a bed or bath together. After all they were simply best friends before entering this magical world cursed with creatures from the Abyss that would see Satou dead. So if a little fan service and harem style action doesn't bother you why not try this book and see what you think about these awkward kids thrown into heroic destiny. :)

My fave part would have to be Satou entering the magical world after Hime went through the portal. It took real guts and shows how much he cares for her that he would traverse the seemingly impossible to get her back and ends up being the hero of a new world to boot. :)

"Wha-? Isn't that polygamy!?" -the best line.
I think the best word for this story is generic. Not in a bad way. It still surprises you in a few little ways, never enough to be too cliché. It's fun to read, but don't expect a something totally out there.

Okay art, generic fantasy background characters and settings. Just a couple of confusing pannels, but otherwise fluid reading. Simple character designs, good details.

Before I delve into the story, I'd like to point out that the author/artist gives us two full pages of written worldbuilding at the end, in character, and I love that to pieces. Extra kudos.
In terms of story, we'll have to see but I don't think it will fall into the harem trap. It's very straight (how surprising! /s) but there are a few elements that avoid the distastefulness/harem-ness of other mangas I've seen before. The immediate live rival seen in the first chapter does not become bitter and is instead supportive and a friend (+1), the main pair knows they are in love and both confess (+1), and they agree to follow a healthy pacing in their relationship, suddenly married as they've become (+1). Now we'll just have to see what the main pair's relationship with the other princesses becomes.
It made me curious enough, and that's a plus.

I absolutely HATE polygamy stories. I feel like the author/s are just shoving their own perverse desires at the audience and I hate it. Polygamy disregards the feelings of women and belittles them, reducing women to mere objects that aren’t even considered human. Their feelings and needs are thrown out the window. I hate it even more when the women in the stories are just all for it. That isn’t realistic at all because 99% of women are not ok with sharing their husband with other women.
This type of writing shows a lack of human understanding and consideration.
The moment this story said that the male lead has to get married to other princesses and engage in polygamy so he can get stronger and defeat the monsters, I put this down. I just can’t support any of this sexist bull poop.

This story had a lot of potential and in my opinion it was all just flushed down the toilet when the author/s decided to be perverted and sexist toward women.

When Sato's best friend Hime (who he is in love with) has to move away, it turns out she is from another world and a princess, ready to fulfill her duty of marrying a prince. Sato is being pulled into the other dimension with her and she decides she will rather marry him, than some stranger, And they do, but here the trouble starts because as it turns out Sato is now the chosen one. He has to battle dragons and become a hero. There are further complications, the marriage to her brings...,
I really like the story and idea, the artwork is decent, I had some problems with him as a character, so far he is a bit boring and arrogant, but I hope he will grow and turn more likeable in the course of the story, I fear however, that my library only had part 1 and I am not sure I want to invest money into this series...

Already can tell that this is going to be a harem but in all honest truth I'm alright with it. The art is dazzling and the character set up has potential. Maybe definitely seems to have a way with providing personality to the characters which is easy to follow. I'm in hopes that this series will gradually build with a story line and stays interesting. There have been to many series that I've had to set down because the plot fell to pieces. Guess we'll see with the next book which path it'll take.

I just can't with this one.

Satou follow's Hime and ends up married to her. Then surprise, surprise he has to save the world, but in order to do so he needs to marry more women.

I should've known this wouldn't be my cup of tea. I tried it, but even though I'm a fan of harems I just couldn't with this one.

Kind of surprised how high people are rating this one. It was pretty much the most unoriginal isekai I've read. I also hate how the female lead is basically a prize and doesn't have any autonomy or characteristics besides childhood friend. It's a shame because I really love the art style though.
