Twin daughters of an ancient Bedouin king struggle under the weight of an ominous prophecy that threatens to divide them forever. Royal sibling rivalry explodes as the young women realize that they must fight for their future and for the love of Alexio, the man they both love. The Tale of Nefret chronicles their lives as they travel in two different directions. One sister becomes the leader of the Meshwesh while the other travels to Egypt as an unwilling gift to Pharaoh.
From the desert to the throne room, The Tale of Nefret is the first book in The Desert Queen trilogy, the fictional story of Nefretiti, Queen of Egypt.
4,25 stars - English Ebook - I have dyslexia - A dazzeling tale of sibling rivalry that guides one sister to the throne of Egypt. In this first book of the series the Dessert Queen, we meet the two sisters Pah and Nefret. One cold, one warm hearted. There people, the Meshwesh , were driven from their home into the dessert. - clappin my hands tree times, I Smiled amused at a half dozen pairs of dark eyes that watched me enteranced with every word and movement I made. - The two siblings are forced to trails to determine who is going to lead the tribe as Mekha. Both sisters love the same man. One sister sister becomes the leader of the tribe the other will go to Egypt. I enjoyed this novel with referentces to acient Egypt. Times where hard in the dessert. And when you can not trused your own sister what will you do? Would like to read the second book in this series: The falcon rises. - Somehow, I would convince Pharaoh to help us. - 🌹🦋🌷
This book was wonderful. It was full of unrest and had great historical details included. It kept me hooked late into the night. I would recommend to someone who enjoys Egyptian (type) history, though it is fictional.
Hand on heart, I have never read any books set in deserts or Egypt, but this book totally hooked me. The nature of Nefret's character maker her highly likable and I experienced her growth and development with anticipation and excitement. Super enjoyable, easy read.
I truly enjoyed this book completely losing myself in it. The story felt like home. I was very happy to find there are three more books and all are in kindle unlimited! I can only tell you this-if you want to relax and get away, immersing your self in a great historical novel, get this! It is not an actual cliff hanger but if you're like me, when it ended I wanted more and was so happy to discover there is a set. It's all in kindle unlimited, appropriate for anyone to read and the kind of story you don't want to set down for anything. I highly recommend this book! :)
I really enjoyed this book. It started a bit slow, but I stayed with it and am glad I did. I most enjoy reading all things paranormal. M.L. Bullock is one of my favorite authors. This was a nice change from haunted houses and paranormal investigations. Just staring book 2 in the Desert Queen series. I am really looking forward to seeing how Nefret will fair now that she is finally in Egypt!
I'm not sure if any or parts of the story are true but it is possibility that the story of Nefertiti could have started this way that's why I say interesting. The story leave you to wonder and ready for the next book
The tradition of storytelling is honored in this telling. It's a short, lovely read. I enjoy reading about strong women in history and the beginning of Nefret's journey to Egypt is an interesting one.
Such a lovely tell. I was very engrossed in the storyline. It was very well written and sad as to what happens...can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next.
2.5 stars. I have book #2 so will read it but it will have to be a lot better for me to go on with the series. Nothing wrong with it really. There was just not much to it.
The start of a promisingly good series that I will continue reading. Twin sisters who are forced to travel different paths. How will their tribe survive?
The glory of Egypt we envision is the end result of the any desert tribes who became integrated into the life force that became the strange and dark people of Egypt. This series reveals that rivalries between sisters exist among the desert oasis and the great pillars in the temples at Thebes.
Not a bad read. The plot is based on the mythical city of Zerzura. The story from middle eastern sources tell that it was inhabited by light skinned and silver haired people, while the author portrays I this story that it was the city of Meshwesh people.
Interesting take on the history of Nefertiti. Enjoyed the story as it moved along crisply. There are two other books in the series and have read a sample of the second. The timeline is a bit wonky and certain key figures have wrong names but other than that I am enjoying the story telling.
The tale of Nefret by M L Bullock... A historical fiction, first in the series... great storyline a desert queen of the tribals fights for the safety of her people to land up at the pharaohs land to destine her future.
Characters were not flat, very descriptive writing , could picture in your mind as you read. Can't wait to read the next book, however me personally don't like the chapters are told by the different characters.
took me a bit to get into it but once I was in the story, I was totally immersed in it. Different from anything else I've read. So nice to have a fresh new storyline! I loved M. L. Bullock's other series, Seven Sisters & this flows just as that one did. Onto the 2nd bokk.
