I have a nightshade allergy so I was really excited to read this book. I did find many recipes that peaked my interest. A note to the author, nightshades also include paprika. One recipe in particular, the Kale and Chickpea Salad, is marked nightshade free. When I'm reality it's not, because of the paprika in it. If this would have been made for me by someone else, it would have been life or death situation.
I waited to write my review until i had lived with this diet for a while. I have to say this diet has worked wonders for both myself and y grand daughter. Between so many different reasons for me to be in pain to asthma and eczema I thought if it helped just one or more of these for us I would dance in my seat. All i can say is read this book and try it, Is it a catch all for everyone no but it is so well worth the money simply for what I learned and what it did for me. It is nice to real about how to how to use combos of foods together to heal the body. There were things I never thought about as being inflammatory and now that this brought this to my mind I now how things to do. This is my go to book and I have read and re-read and not only that advised all the doctors I have seen to check it out including my Grand daughter's ped food specialist. It is worth every penny
I really appreciate that this book started me on a search for more healthy food information. I did find some information presented contradictory (ie. white rice is discouraged but a recipe could include "rice noodles"; tomatoes are out but chili would contain diced tomato) to what I thought I had learned. So, I took my new knowledge to mean diet awareness and moderation of all are key to healthy eating. Also, serving size is not clearly defined which is important to some of us who are working to manage carbs or calories. I will continue to explore for, as always, one book doesn't contain all the answers.
To me, the recipes in this one don't look as promising as the ones in the author's The Anti-Inflammatory Diet & Action Plans. Maybe it's because of the 5-ingredient limit, but these recipes just don't sound tempting. What I do like about this one is the shopping list that accompanies the meal plans.
I have been searching for an anti inflammatory book for a while ,this book answer almost all question in my mind. It is simple, interesting, informative and easy to understand.
I have read a few books about starting an anti-inflammatory diet. This book makes the change as easy and pain free as possible. The book contains a menu for all three meals each day for three weeks. It also contains the enitre shopping list that you will need for all three weeks. My favorite part of this diet? There are no crazy menu items. No crazy expensive ingredients. No crazy food preparations. Like I said, easy and simple. Don't think that the food you will be eating will be bland, it is anything but. Some of the recipes are for fish tacos, chocolate fondue, baby bok Chou stir-fry. These are simple foods to make and are delicious. I am planning on my entire family taking the full there week challenge at the beginning of the year. We are ready for a transformation and this book will make it easy and delicious. I recieved this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I was recently diagnosed with arthritis, painful no debilitating. Following some of these recipes and already feeling the difference. It's a life style change and a moment or a week or a month, always to improve inflammation issues. It's a commitment but worthy one, in my opinion.
The recipes are awesome, very good, especially compared with other books in the same field. BUT the Shoppe nvr lists are off. I only deducted one star for this as anyone with half a brain can figure out how to do this but I was tempted to deduct two. It really is the only flaw in the book in my opinion. All the recipes I've tried have been delicious and accurate.
This book is to the point. I have tried a couple of smoothies that I wasn't sure sounded appetizing but they were great. Now if I can just stay away from bread.
