A plane crash in the wilderness of Newfoundland. A band of survivors connected by a profound sense of duty.
Home was the mission, but confronted with an enemy greater than the Primal virus they are sidetracked to once again put their unique skills to use for the greater good.
The fight continues as Brad and his men struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where the Primals are only a part of the danger.
W. J. Lundy is a still serving Veteran of the U.S. Military with service in Afghanistan. He has over 12 years of combined service with the Army and Navy in Europe, the Balkans and Southwest Asia. W.J. is an avid athlete, writer, backpacker and shooting enthusiast. He currently resides with his wife and daughter in Central Michigan.
I developed the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot series from notes and ideas I had put together while deployed to Afghanistan. I had been jokingly asked how we would defend against a zombie attack.
I wanted to tell a story that portrays the military that I know, that displays our actual capabilities. These are my thoughts, I hope you enjoy them, and thank you for reading.
It's been over two years since I finished the 3rd book, but it was easy to get back into. Still good pacing on the action and easy to read. On to the next book!
HOME TO A COUNTRY THAT HAS BEEN TORN APART, JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD.
Damage to their has gotten them as far as it can go. With some of their people badly hurt, they need help and medication, more than they have on them. That has to come first. But not everyone will make it back to the United States. When they do all they do is find primals and nothing more. Until they pick up a ping letting them know that someone is close by, in a vessel and close by. But will they be friend or foe? Another must read story.
I liked the last one better, but, I still enjoyed this one enough to grab the next through kindle unlimited. I'm a cheap reader, so not paying on a per-book basis is definitely a perk I like.
So... well, from the end of the last book we knew they went down in Canada. This picks up a bit before that, so we see the crash happening, and the first contact with locals from the team's perspective. Brad keeps doing what needs to be done, but it's starting to show - first on the oil platform, and now again in this book with the peanut butter. To be honest, I really liked the peanut butter. It felt right and real. And, I guess at this point military discipline really no longer applies, so I shouldn't be as upset about the Chelsea situation as I am, but, it doesn't feel right. This may be because somewhere along the way I thought Brad had mentioned having a spouse, and so that's become part of my head-canon for this series.I suspect he talked about family, and I mis-interpreted it.
So, all that said, I do like the series to continue reading it while it's convenient. I've got the next one sitting on my kindle, though I've read a book or three in the meanwhile. I'll get to it. I think there are seven out right now, and I'd be surprised if I didn't finish all seven before my unlimited trial expires (or, really, gets cancelled before I start getting charged for it).
A WJL. SYFY. Military (End of the World) Action Adventure (WITSOD) (AWTFNB - 4)
WJL. has penned a SYFY. military, end. of. the world , action adventure which begins after the crash of th AN - 12 on the Eastern Seaboard of Canada. Somewhere in the vicinity of Prince Edward Island. The men and women that survive the crash unscathed take care of the injured and bury the dead. Then they begin to look for a doctor with the walking dead right behind them. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
The story continues. Of all the characters Brad is the most confusing, sometimes shows experience but most of the time is like a grunt bumble idiot that needs to be take by the hand by Sean. The rest of the characters are better even the new ones.
The story seems to move in circles just trying to fill voids. That means the readers keep in a loop that shows no end. Will need a good review by the author.
Book 4 picks up just a few days after book 3. Now they are on new soil dealing with the same issues..well same issues basically with a few new ones thrown into the mix..but the story is continuing extremely well and it’s well worth the read.
Kind of like "The Walking Dead" military style. In helping others these soldiers also seemed to find a little peace amongst themselves. It's sad when one falls but they keep moving on. Brad is still looking for his family but also longs to return to his comrades to bring them home. You can't help but to love them and route for them . Definitely a recommended read.
I’m really enjoying this series. It’s in my top 5 zombie apocalypse series thus far. Characters, storyline, pace, and action are all on point. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author. Now, on to the next book in this series...
A really good read with non-stop action, and interesting characters, and great narration. A great plot with plenty of exciting twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
After leaving the island, their ship moves south in search of more survivors. Will it be successful, or have the undead really taken over the rest of the world? A must read is this fast paced series.
Another excellent addition to this compelling and gripping post apocalyptic tale of grit and determination as Brad and his friends continue on their journey to get home.
I have really enjoyed reading this series. Plenty of action and the characters are likeable, at times i found myself smiling at a little joke told so a great balance.
I gotta admit... Best book in the series (so far) is right here...
We have survivors, bad guys, Primal infested towns, soldiers fighting for their own and helping others... As soldiers should... And peanut butter. We have peanut butter.
Our now expanded group including Brad, Sean and Brooks find themselves going from the hot desert to a frozen tundra when their plane 'lands' on an island off the Canadian coast. First mission: safety from the Primals who just heard the dinner bell ring. Second mission: invade a primal infested village to hopefully save their own. Third mission: stop the bad guys and help the local survivors. Four mission: they still need to get home!
These guys are just heroes, not just cause they are soldiers, but because that's who they are. In fact that's probably why they became soldiers in the first place. They could just 'quit'. I mean the worlds gone to hell, they could overpower people, take what they want and probably ride out the apocalypse. They don't need to risk themselves any more than they have to, yet they do. Over and over. And why? Cause it's the RIGHT thing to do. They don't take the easy way out and when they can they help. They leave others in a better place then when they came.
The Primals remain scary, the alphas especially, but our heroes have learned their rhythm. While they still have to plan, then expect the unknown they have a feel for their enemy and are constantly learning more. Too bad the Primals keep changing. We have the fast ones, the slow ones, the alphas and too much unknown about them all.
I came here for the Zombies (Primals), but I've remained for the men. If there's a zombie outbreak I just hope I have soldiers like these guys nearby.
The trip has already been long and arduous, but it's not over yet.
So grab your peanut butter and have the next book nearby cause this story remains one you just can't wait for more of.
I will admit that I'm a Walking Dead fan and, therefore, somewhat of a zombie snob. I don't fall easily for every story about the undead, but this one hooked me all the way to #6.
In book 4, Lundy keeps the story fresh and anxiety ridden. I didn't think it could get any more harrowing, but it does. Lundy will reel you in with just the right amount of detail and suspense. You feel the anxiety of the characters and you find yourself feeling suspicious of each new situation and character. You are often wondering if you will lose a favorite character or will he/she squeak through another harrowing situation. Warning - nothing is predictable in these page turners by Lundy...you just gotta hang on and ride it out to the end!
This is one series that has driven me to read into the wee hours of the night, taking the stories with me on errands wondering if I can sneak in a few pages here and there, even closet reading so the family doesn't catch me still reading those "zombie" books.
