NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR, ELLE CASEY, brings readers the Thriller/Romantic Suspense novel ALL THE GLORY: How Jason Bradley Went from Hero to Zero in Ten Seconds Flat.

Jason Bradley has everything going for him. He's Banner High's first-string varsity wide receiver, headed to another State championship, and the college recruiters are already knocking on his door. His girlfriend is every guy's dream, there's a brand new black Camaro with a 6.2L, V-6 engine parked in his garage, and he's on cruise control.

But when the school's beloved football coach turns up dead and Jason's found standing over the body, his cruise control cuts off bringing his charmed life to a screeching halt, and the reality of being an accused murderer of the first degree takes over.

When everyone else walks away and leaves him to hang, one girl can't. But it's going to take more than guessing and wishing to get through to him and the truth of what happened, since he seems bound and determined to accept his fate as a criminal, tried as an adult and eligible for lethal injection.

Can one really determined girl get to the bottom of the mystery when no one else seems to care? It would be so much easier to watch him go down, and for many, maybe just a little bit too satisfying. After all, who isn't guilty of finding pleasure in seeing that perfect someone suddenly exposed for the self-centered prick that he really is?

Content warning: For teens and adults. Some foul language, violence is mild in description but serious in effect.

A message from Elle about this book: I was lying in bed one night, almost totally asleep, and this story just popped into my head. It was so gripping, I forced myself to wake up so I wouldn’t lose the idea. I sat up in bed with my laptop computer that’s never far from my side and wrote out the first 10,000 words along with a plot outline. I’m a big fan of stories where people’s lives are completely turned upside down, so this was a real pleasure to dig into. For me, it was one of those books that practically wrote itself.

"I just thought you could use a friend."

description

Katy Mary Magdalina Guckenberger is a wonderful young heroine. She was funny, brave and stood by the high school’s famous wide receiver, Jason Bradley when no one else did.

”Why are you here?” he asked.”

Jason and Katy aren’t even friends but when he gets lead out of the school’s football field in hand cuffs by police and arrested for murder she’s all he’s got.

”I’ve made my decision. I’m going to stand by Jason through think and thin, and I don’t care what the news says or what the kids at school say. He needs a friend and I am that friend. It’s a done deal.”

Katy was tenacious in her need to be Jason’s friend as a reader you can feel her desire to help him while seeing him as the most popular guy at a school. Katy and her gay best friend, Bobby aren’t really noticed at school and they reminded me a bit of Making Faces Fern and Baily while Jason reminded me of Ambrose. Jason appears to have it all, the prettiest girl friend, a promising football career and popularity.

"Your friends. Your girlfriend. Her friends. You guys have it all. All the glory."

Katy and Jason do develop feelings and this story is on the G level in the smut factor as a kiss is all you’ll be getting. However, what Katy uncovers as to what really happened was predictable and I was hoping to be surprised still, it was well played out.

description

Overall, this story was well written with all of Elle Casey’s style humor while having a mystery aspect and a sweet spin on the non-popular girl landing the high school football team’s star.

”The irony is, I had to murder a guy to become a better person.”

"My Constant Gardner."

What a great surprise! I started this last night while waiting for Midnight Lily to download to my kindle, not expecting to get so engrossed in this story. But when I started it, I was hooked. Okay, so I went to sleep but then woke up...only to continue where I left off. Although that was partly because I didn't go into work today, being that I had to take my daughter to the hospital. She caught the flu so while she was off and on sleeping and getting meds forced into her body, I was sitting in the chair, reading. Yeah...mother of the fucking year, right?

Ha! It's all good. I stopped each time the doctor came in to recheck her temperature and give her anti-nausea medicine, asking questions, but once the doc was out of the room and she was comfortably sleeping, I went back to the book. It was just that good for me.

This was my first Elle Casey read and I was impressed. Honestly, her characters are awesome and funny and so damn relatable. I just loved Katy. I wanted to be her best friend because she's the no-shit-taking kind of gal. She speaks her mind, unapologetically without filter. And hot damn is she fiercely loyal. My. Kind. Of. Heroine. And her best friend, Bobby, who is gay and as awesome as she is. Together they had me in stitches with their banter, never letting up. Both of them made this book for me. Well, partly. Then we have Jason, the hero, which isn't really thought of as a hero through most of this story. But that's okay, I found myself hanging on his every word. He's the hot football star with a heart of gold. I loved him.

So, Jason, the hot football star, has it all. The good-looks, great friends, cheerleader girlfriend, the athletic talent...he's got it all. Or so everyone thinks. That is...until he's hauled out of the school the day of the big game. Right before the game starts. In handcuffs. And the coach is dead in his office. What the hell happened? There's only one conclusion...Jason killed him.

Say what?

Yeah, I was a bit floored myself at that scene, wondering what on God's green earth possessed a guy who has everything going for him, including scouts watching the game to recruit him to the NFL to kill his fucking coach. My mind was reeling with all kinds of scenarios. It just didn't make any bit of sense to me.

As I kept reading, I kept guessing, or trying to. But then I just sat back and enjoyed everything unfold before me instead of playing detective, because I suck at it. And that's okay. I enjoyed the story as Katy played that role. She was good. And I loved the fact that when the paparazzi and all of Jason's friends turned their backs on him, including his bitch of a girlfriend, she stood by him. Because in times of trials and tribulation, he needed a friend. Everyone was quick to assume he was a murderer and shunned him. In most cases, I would've been that way too, but as I got further in, I started to doubt what really happened. And question everything. It was so good, the way it all played out. I loved how the friendship of Jason and Katy progressed. It was slow and very PG, but surprisingly, I didn't care. This story was more about friendship anyway, but eased into love. I didn't need sex to satisfy my reading thirst. I gobbled it up. It only took me a day to read this and I'm not ashamed.

I loved all of the characters. Jason's dad. Katy's parents. Bobby. Katy. Jason. Leo. They each played an important role in this story, and I felt like I got to know them and care about them. Katy and Jason had been neighbors since he moved to their street when he was 8, but they weren't friends. Although, there was a time, a bunch of bullies picked on Bobby for being gay and Jason put them in their place. It was so sweet and Katy never forgot it. So when they got to high school, she crushed on him from afar. However, they belonged in different circles, so she knew he was way out of her league and he'd never see her as anything different. That all changed though, when Katy stepped up to the plate and showed him what "true friends" are supposed to do, how they're supposed to act. And by God, she was awesome. I truly freaking loved her determination, her loyalty, her spirit...just her as a person. Ack!

Okay, I know this is long, so I'll wrap up my review and say...the big reveal, I did see coming, but it made no less of an impact had it been a huge shocker. I still hoped I wasn't right. I teared up a bit, but in the end, I was so damn happy. The only reason I can't give this a full 5 stars is because I wanted a little of Jason's pov. I wanted to know how he felt during his trial and when he was locked up in prison for that time and how he felt about all the reporters being outside his door all day everyday to the point that he was a prisoner in his own house. I just love male pov and wanted his side of the story. Other than that, this story was a solid book for me. I really hope other readers will give it a chance, despite the fact that it doesn't have steamy sex scenes. I didn't care. I don't always have to read pages upon pages of fucking and moans and groans and blow jobs. This was just what I needed. Besides, it has a mix of everything else I love. So go get this book now...it's still on sale for .99. I bought it when it first released 2 years ago at full price. It was worth every penny.

Okay, I'm done. Happy reading!

I love Elle Casey's books, be it about supernatural creatures, cowboys or football players.

All the Glory broaches some delicate topics I don't want to develop or I would spoil your read. Just know I loved everything in this book:

-the humor Elle is famous for (the witty comebacks, the banter and sarcasm) even if this is a drama;

-the wonderful characters, be it the hot but fallen football player Jason, Bobby the best gay friend skinny and glittery or Katy the stubborn heroine with a "devil may care" attitude;

-the difficult topics and thoughts they raised. How your so called friends can turn their backs in one second if you're accused of murder, even if minutes before you were the golden town boy. The price you pay when you are "famous and beautiful";

-the plot with multiple layers and the pace not too fast but not too slow either;

-Katy and Jason's relationship, how they grew from knowing of each other to knowing each other.

Above all else, I really, really, really ... adored Katy. She is just my kind of heroine: strong, determined, fiercely loyal, with sarcastic humor. She was the "take no crap kind of girl". She was dead set of being friend with Jason and thought she wanted to be the kind of friend she would love to have if she was in the same awful predicament Jason was experiencing. It was "Katy against the world"against Jason even some time. He pushed her but she came back. He tried to intimidate her to make her drop some sensitive topics but she held her ground. He tried to make her falter with his hot bod and sad puppy eyes but she was not swayed (and most would falter under these circomstances, me included!);

I guessed what had really happened long before the big reveal but it did not make my read less interesting or wonderful. I don't know if every reader would guess but you have little clues from 75% in the book so try to play detective and see if you can solve the mystery.

If you want a very well written YA book with just the right balance of humor and drama, this is a very good one.

This book right here! I honestly did not expect to love it or be so engrossed in it as I was. I thought it would just be a funny, hokey mystery. But man was it so much more.

I can't put into words all the feels this gave me. I laughed, I cried, I hurt, and I was frustrated. I started off the first few chapters not sure where it was going. It seemed like the typical high school story. But as it got going, it became so much more. Katy is goals! She's so fierce in her convictions. And sweet Jason, so heartbreaking at times.

I just knew there was more to the story, and getting small bits and pieces along the way made me anxious for the reveal. And oh man, the reveal had my heart breaking.

I'm so unbelievably glad I took a chance on this one. I got it on sale for $0.99, but after reading I'd say I'd have paid more. I definitely recommend giving this book a try :)

3 stars -- So my husband asked me how I was liking this book, and the conversation went something like this:
"How's the book?"
"It's interesting."
"How so?"
"It's different..."
"Are you going to say 'It's unique' next?"
He's a bit of a smartass. But it really is hard to define this book. It's a bit out of my wheelhouse -- I don't read a lot of mystery type books. I saw it categorized under suspense and thriller, but those don't feel like they quite fit either. And while it does have a smidge of romance, I wouldn't call it that either.

In fact, as anyone who reads my reviews can tell, I tend to stick with books that have at least a smidge of romance in them, and it will play heavily into my enjoyment of a book. And that would be one area where this book kind of let me down. It definitely wasn't the focus of the book, but the romance was there...only it wasn't all that compelling, and I didn't really get the feels from it. Their friendship I definitely felt and really enjoyed, but the romance aspect just didn't work for me.

Quite honestly, Katy kind of confused me. There were certain bits about her I just adored -- she was hilariously awkward and adorkable, and said/thought some of the funniest things. But when she was analyzing her feelings about the case, I kind of got lost...like I couldn't quite understand what she was trying to say in her head, or how exactly she feels. She would say she was feeling guilty or like a horrible human and sometimes it would come out of nowhere and wouldn't make sense to me. Maybe that was more just me? I don't know. But she really did confuse the heck out of me sometimes. Even with regards to her feelings towards Jason and the way that relationship progressed -- one moment she would still be confused about his feelings for her (thinking he just felt for her as a friend), and the next paragraph she seemed to understand (that he loved her) and yet I didn't see the transition. Maybe I was just too tired and I missed something. But that would be a huge part of why the romance didn't work for me, b/c her change in perspective came out of nowhere.

So really this story was more about the murder and the mystery surrounding it. And I guess that's where I was kind of bummed out too -- b/c I made some educated guesses practically right from the beginning that turned out to be in the right direction, and I was just surprised that Katy didn't make those leaps as quickly. I mean, if you're looking for a reason, what would be the kind of thing that would drive someone to murder? And a coach no less?

This book was heavy on the teenagerness too. Duh, it's a YA. But it was sometimes hard to see Katy acting like a brat towards her parents. She was very volatile in her emotions, and sometimes that was a bit cringeworthy. I know it's pretty realistic for a teenager, but maybe I just wasn't in the mood. And there was a bit of stereotypicalness about the people in the high school. Heck, I was even hoping for more out of her and Jason's conversations about the different social circles, and how not everything was as it seemed. I never really felt like Katy got what Jason was trying to say there...and it was kind of a poignant moment.

So I was initially at 3.5 stars for this book, but I'm gonna have to go with 3 stars after having written all that out. That's not even everything that bugged me. I really did enjoy the funny aspects of this book, and even some of the heartwrenching ones (Jason and his father in particular really got to me, and I thought that their circumstances were portrayed well). I guess I just was hoping for more out of Katy, and while her humour was top notch, I couldn't always empathize with what she would do or think. I'm probably not making any sense to anyone but me at this point...oh well.

What’s it like to suddenly go from the school hero to a big fat zero? Jason Bradley is about to find out when the football coach is found dead with Jason standing over him with bloody knuckles.

Although this is definitely Jason’s story to tell, it’s actually Katy, his neighbor and classmate, who actually takes the reins of the POV to get the story told. See, she’s the kind of girl that when a friend is in trouble, she helps. That’s just who she is. And if you give her a chance, Katy will soon prove it, too.

Inside the covers of this book lies much more than you would expect behind “all the glory” (yeah, I couldn’t help myself) usually found in a sports-related story with a too-hot-to-handle super star football player and the weakling females that just can’t resist him. A big difference that you’ll notice from the very start. A substantive and emotionally drawn story is what you’ll find in its place. Of course, there’s also a girl and a guy that will quickly draw you into their story that begins with tragedy that pulls them together and slowly mends a friendship lost long ago, and then builds into something so much stronger – maybe a forever kind of relationship.

The combination of dark and gritty topics, along with the relationship aspects filled with sass and flirtation, keeps this one fairly evenly well-balanced. And it didn’t hurt one bit that there was the additional suspenseful aura hanging over our heads either. During a good part of the plot, I anxiously awaited what I expected to be unveiled. The big reveal was fairly easy to spot early on – but it never lessened the impact or emotions that were evoked when it finally comes out. The author kept it all moving forward in an even flow and did a great job in the culmination.

This book took me by total surprise. With expectations of once again going down the well-trodden sports-related path, Elle Casey impressed me with so much more. I am definitely glad I took the chance and gave this one a try. I hope you will, as well!

OH this story...so high school and yet so adult.

Not in that way, but with a murder. Yeah, a murder. Committed by tight end all-star of Banner High, Jason Bradley. And this Jason Bradley character had it all: scouts and colleges drooling for his presence on their team, dudes on the team who were more friends than foes, and one of the hottest girlfriends in school.

So why would he murder someone> (take that back) not just someone, the coach of the football team who was also the town hero for his work with children?

That's what Katherine Mary Magdalina Guckenburger wondered.

She wasn't the popular girl in school. Nor was she on Jason's radar...ish...he did call her The Cobstant Gardener. But she wondered what would possess Jason to admit to murdering his coach and throwing away his future.

And so began a story that went a little beyond the typical YA romantic types...No matter how sweet it was. Because the descriptions/reviews stated it was more a murder mystery. That's kind of what I expected. But I had the mystery figured out by chapter seven. Bummer.

But that wasn't the only reason for my three stars. The story starts out with Katy explaining that she is the one telling Jason's story. It doesn't say why which has your brain thinking of "free man no longer wants to dwell in the past" to "dude's on death row and is probably not going to make it".

The overall story was okay. I didn't like the smart-alecky Katy's voice constantly changing. One chapter had her smart and sarcastic. Fun. The next had her talking street slang through out...it felt unlike her. Sort of like she was a whole different character at one point. I don't like to point these things out, but Katy was constantly changing into different people altogether and it bothered me. (Total me thing here.)

And the end. Well, way past it. I understand how characters can stick with you in your mind, heart, and soul way beyond the story. But sometimes the story being told has to end. this one went two chapters (maybe three) beyond where a nice complete ending would be. Maybe they should have been labeled with "epilogue" so it would feel separate and the tale could end nicely.

It's an okay read. The story idea was fantastic and touched on the atypical high school experiences.

Ah, well...

All the Glory by Elle Casey
4 stars!!

“I just thought you could use a friend.”

Even though I am forty, I still love a YA read and this is just that, pure YA at its best. If you are looking for a hot and steamy read, this is not the book for you, but if you want a feel good book with a bit of mystery and suspense, then you will love this one.

Jason Bradley seemingly has it all, he is the school’s first string varsity wide receiver, revered by all, he has the token cheerleader girlfriend, a flash car and an army of followers. He is “the guy” that all others aspire to be and emulate. Well that was the case until he was caught standing over the football coach’s dead body with blood on his hands. Now Jason Bradley has the biggest fight of his life or his life destined to be over?

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? That does not matter to this town and soon Jason is ostracized by everyone. His girlfriend dumps him, playing the injured party to the press, his friends are nowhere to be seen, he is just dumped…you know what they say “the bigger you are, the harder you fall,” well Jason falls hard. Nobody gives him the time of day, no one listens to his side of the story but moreover, Jason seems reluctant to actually say what happened. He is adamant his is just going to take what is coming to him, but why?

“Stop feeling sorry for yourself, butthead. And you can stop being ungrateful while you’re at it, too.”

Katy lives a few doors down from Jason; she has admired him from afar for as long as she can remember but not being part of the “it” crowd means that she is never noticed. Katy keeps herself to herself but she has a sidekick and that is her gay BBF. Katy has a huge heart and it is made from pure gold, despite the adversities she has to fight, she reaches out to Jason, at the end of the day, he needs a friend. Katy refuses to believe that Jason is a cold blooded murderer and the more she really gets to know Jason, the more she is adamant there is more to the story. Can one girl really make a difference?

This book centres round the burgeoning friendship between Jason and Katy and Katy’s fight to find out the truth. There is no sex in this book, this is pure friendship that may or may not lead to more. This was more a suspenseful murder mystery type but on a YA level. Most of all though this book should be read for the positive undertones that it brings to the forefront. In the book world it is always “never judge a book by its cover,” in this book it is “innocent until proven guilty.” People are all too quick to make assumptions whether they are right or wrong, but if you really knew that person as you portray you do you would know that there must have been more to the story than what the rumour mill spreads or the paparazzi print in their newspapers. People were all too quick to dismiss Jason as a murderer but Katy took the time to be the friend that he needed and ended up being totally invaluable. Furthermore we also got to see Jason for the real person that he was, he understood that his friends were “superficial,” he knew they were only friends for what they could free load off the back of his success and social standing and this made him appreciate Katy all the more. She was what he called a “true friend.” This book is all about friendship, being there for each other no matter the cost. Staying true to your ideals and beliefs and trying to be the best person you can.

After finishing this book, I felt good, I loved it.

W O W !!!

4,5 All the glory WITH NO SEX Stars!!!

First thing first: thanks to Livvie for the recommendation (e perchè sono rimasta sveglia fino alle quattro per leggerne almeno la metà.. o almeno quella è stata l'ultima volta che ho guardato l'orologio).

Second: I LOVED THIS BOOK. I really really loved this book.

I started to read this at 1 a.m., I took a pause around 4 a.m. (you know, I had to sleep), I woke up at 9.16 a.m. (thanks to my cat), started to read again and finished at 11.38 a.m. Yes, I'm basically writing asleep right now. Would I do this again for this book? Absolutely, and without the sleep break. Because I loved it. I loved it. I loved it.

Okay.

Let's start.

As you can see from the blurb, the author specified that this book has no sex in it, so you can understand my curiousity. Lately you can't see other than books with a plot that end up with sex scenes for half the story, and it's getting boring and boring if there's nothing more around. So, if this book had no sex, it means that the plot will take all the book! Wonderful! That won me. I have to admit, I was a little scared when I noticed the author (sorry mrs Casey), but only because I read one of her previous book and it took me almost a year to read it. But nothing to fear, darlings, this was not the case.
The story is well written, the characters are perfect, especially Kate. Seriously, I needed a book with no sex to love a female character! She's sassy, strong and a seventeen years old. And she think that Jason is hiding something. And how Leo's said, she's fearless. Who would have the courage to go to jail to see a guy accused of murderer, that she barely knows, and do this:

I lifted my hand and bapped him on the back of the head with it. “Stop feeling sorry for yourself, butthead. And you can stop being ungrateful while you’re at it, too.”

See what I mean? And that's when everything started.

You meet GaylordBobby, Katy's best friend:

“Now I see why you keep coming over here.”
A spark lit up my heart. “You can see it too? That he’s hiding something?”
“No. He’s seriously hot, and now he’s single and available too.”

And her parents, just seeing them interact you can understand why she's so special. And Jason's father. And more.

This story is refreshing (beside the obvious "incident"), young, real and touching. And if you feel sad, Kate surely can suggest a perfect church for you, because "God love you anyway" (cit.).

I can't say anything more or I will reveal to much. I'm not that good with words. So, what are you waiting for? Go read it!

All the Glory Elle Casey – 4 Stars

This book was not what I was expecting. It was so much more.

Lead Girl: Katherine Mary Magdalina Guckenberger – Katy
Lead Guy: Jason Bradley
Point of view: -first person
Part of a series: No
Happy ever after: Yes
Subgenre: Football, young adult, high-school

Jason Bradley, the star high-school football player, popular jock and secret superhero (Katy will tell you about that) is found standing over his coach’s dead body just before a game. With no explanation of what had happened, he gets arrested. Everyone believes he did it and he’s admitting to it. But Katy remembers the boy who stood up to her gay best friends’ bullies and she just knows that it’s not as cut and dry as everyone’s saying.

She forces her way into the Bradley’s lives and befriends Jason, much to his confusion, but his father’s delight. He’s lost his girlfriend, his friends and is looking at the lethal injection or twenty five years. But that doesn’t bother Katy, she knows there is more to the story, even if he says there’s not.

For a young adult book, it covers some pretty heavy topics but thankfully Katy’s inner monologue keeps the tone light. Elle Casey can write comedy extremely well and manages to keep the respect needed for the serious matters that get tackled.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Their feelings for each other grew naturally, and they created a bond that will last a lifetime. I had a huge smile on my face throughout most of the book. I will definitely read another book by this author!

This story was incredible. It blew me away. So much better than I was anticipating. I'm not really sure what to say about it honestly. I LOVED Katy. She had so much self-awareness and this rare maturity that is not often found in teenagers. She was SO honest and it was so refreshing because she was unapologetically herself. She saw past the bullshit and stayed strong in her beliefs of what she knew in her gut was right and what was wrong. I loved her developing friendship with Jason. They both changed deeply, I mean what they both went through and experience could do nothing but change a person irrevocably. This author brought up some great thoughts and issues that many people, even as adults, still do not understand. True friends are those that stick with you not just in good times, but especially in the bad. That's when you find out who has your back and who doesn't. Really quickly. That the media has a powerful influence over our own perspectives and how we see people and situations that occur. Fighting for what you believe in is a very difficult thing and takes an incredible amount of bravery and courage. I loved this story so much. It was a clean read in terms of sex and I'm actually really glad of that because the whole story was focused on all of the messages in the book and the actual characters themselves. This story is going to stick with me for a long time.

All the Glory is about a guy named Jason, the high school football star, who goes from hero to zero within a night. His story is told through the eyes of a girl, named Katy, who has known him basically all her life but didn't become his friend until after the incident. Then that friendship became a relationship--in a slow burn kind of way. The incident however was him murdering the high school football coach, who was loved by the whole community but he had a deep dark secret. The coach had a charity, sort of like a big brother, where he molested kids and Jason found out and wanted to put a stop to the whole charade.
On a side note, I loved the friendship/relationship between Katy and Jason. Katy was a normal stubborn teenager who happens to be a loyal and great friend. Katy is definitely relatable and I loved her throughout the book. She made me laugh so much. Jason is one of those guys who sort of had it all but then realized who his actual friends were in the end. Again, I loved the both of them and this book was really good. I couldn't put it down!! Everyone should read this book.

Ok. so I read this in one go. It was good but kinda slow. It had some strong subject matters going on. I kinda guessed it half way of whatbit was. IDK. I thought they were cute together and I liked how they grew from nothing to something, but I just didn't Love it.

Wow!! I don't usually like young adult/high school age stories, but this was written so well that sometimes I forgot that Katy was only 17. I felt connected with Katy and Jason and their story. I started to figure it out about the time Katy knew something was wrong with Jason's story and prayed that I was wrong but knew that I couldn't be. A very well written story with such a sad and horrible topic.

Omg! What a wild ride that was! I absolutely loved it!

Can’t believe it that Jason actually killed the coach 😳😮 but Leo is bothering him cause something happened to him cause of bad coach grrr! So glad he’s dead as Leo says…I agree with him…

Katy took guts to speak up the truth about Jason’s whole story and yes, she’s stubborn! I’m glad that she did but Jason wouldn’t tell them a story about Leo..

Looking forward to read another book from this author soon…

I have had this book on my kindle... for a while (I don't even dare to check the date I acquired a copy :') ) and I only started reading this due to my quest to do something about my huuuuuge pile of unread books on my kindle I've gotten at some point or other in the past 7 years or so since I bought my trusty paperwhite.
Luckily for this book I was on airplane mode and I didn't the blurb, otherwise I would've simply deleted the book as I've found that I no longer have the... patience for YA that I used to. But I did read it, some parts of it were kinda cute, some cringeworthy and all in all it was just OK.

I just finished All The Glory and absolutely loved it. I don't even know where to start because all of the things I really want to talk about I can't because I don't want to give anything away. It's an amazing story with an incredible message. There's the ever present Elle Casey humor and wit right alongside tough topics and yet once again Elle Casey shows that she's up to the challenge of tackling those topics and that she can do so with grace and humor. Plus she throws in so many other moral dilemma's such as friendship, loyalty, empathy and love. The book does have a dark side to it but that only makes the positive messages all the more powerful.

Jason Bradely is your average or should I say above average all American high school kid. He's got it all. He's the star quarterback, he's got the looks, a Barbie cheerleading girlfriend, talent, and a nice car. Basically he's the kinda guy that all the other kids want to be. He's Banner High's golden boy at least until he's found standing over the body of his dead coach and then everything changes.

All of his once so called best friends hate him now, his girlfriend is more concerned about her own image than what her boyfriend is going through. Everyone assumes he's guilty even though it's supposed to be guilty until proven innocent and the media have camped out on his doorstep. Everyone hates him and wants to see him pay except for one person: Katy. Katy has lived down the road from Jason all her life and even though they exist in totally different worlds. He's popular and she's not. She still remembers the kind kid who always stood up for everyone. A boy who protected others and thinks there's more to his story that what he's telling and sets out to find the truth.

I think Katy's biggest gift is her empathy. As everyone turns their backs on Jason she's the one person who decides to stand beside him. She is able to put herself in his shoes and realize how lonely and scared it must be facing possible murder charges and prison for the rest of his life and that's if he's lucky and doesn't get death row. She does have her doubts, fears and misgivings like any rational person would but she is determined to stand by him no matter what happens. She's forced to really think about life, about loyalty, friendship, what's right and what's wrong. She along with Jason are forced to grow up and are faced with challenges that would haunt even the sturdiest of adults. Empathy is what drives her to Jason, that and the fact that I think she's always had a bit of a crush on him. Loyalty keeps her by his side and justice is what drives her to never give up. There are just so many good and of course a few bad themes running through this book and the ending is powerfully haunting.

I absolutely loved Katy and Jason. Reading All The Glory tugged at my heartstrings and called to my sense of morals. It reaffirmed my feelings on justice and friendship. It put a smile on my face, made me laugh and then made me want to scream and cry. It did everything it was supposed to to do and more. And really what more can you ask than that? Another great book by Elle Casey to join my ever growing Elle Casey library and just one more reason why I love her writing so much.

This was a fabulous and wonderful story that is definitely worth reading. This is the story about a tragedy that shows you who your real friends are and what really matters in life. Jason Bradley was the Football God of his high school and town. He was gorgeous, had real talent, and way popular. It appeared he had it all until the day the school's beloved football coach is found dead and Jason was found standing over his body. Everyone turned on Jason without a backward look, the coach was beloved by so many people that they all turned on him. People that were supposed to be his "friends", his own girlfriend, and his teammates didn't try to question him they just believed what they thought they knew.

Katy is the heroine of this story to me. She admits to not being perfect and making mistakes but she wants to be friends with Jason and not turn her back on him. It is so easy to turn your back on people or stay silent to not cause waves. Katy shows so much bravery and strength through this whole book. She also kept right on asking questions and trying to find out the truth and wouldn't let anyone stop her. She is pushed out of her comfort zone many times but she lets it help her grow.

Jason is a hero in his own right. This situation opened his eyes and he becomes so much more than what he was. Some people will grow and become better in tragedies and some just let it destroy them. He realizes what and who is important to him. He grows up from being a boy to becoming a great man.

This story will open up your eyes and see the good in people and the bad in people. It is so worth reading.

Wow! I didn't have a high expectation for this book but turned out it was pretty good and I really enjoyed it! きらきら

I've read some books by Elle Casey before, but those were New Adult. And this was the first YA book by this author I read.
The writing style was pretty different from all of her books I've read before. At first I thought it was a cute kind of YA. But no, it was a mystery kind of YA

Funny at some points, but I didn't find it that cute にこ

Although the story was so mysterious, but somehow I found it was pretty predictable in some parts, and it was pretty slow-paced in the middle of the story

I liked how the story ended and I liked the characters as well ハートラインストーン桃

Overall, this book was good. I really liked and enjoyed it! good

A YA book that was more teen-agery than most. Jason never acted like someone who was about to be tried for murder. The reasons for him not speaking up were ridiculous. Katy was plucky and fairly funny at times but she was a stereo type just like all the other characters in the book. I guessed what had happened about half way through the book. Not sure it even deserves two stars.

4.75 SOLID STARS.

I swear to god, Elle Casey never disappoints. All The Glory invoked so much emotions in me. I laughed my ass off, I was angry and I was tremendously sad.

Katy Guckenberger is hands down one of my favorite characters of all time. Her loyalty to her friend is admirable as hell. I want have a best friend like her!

Favorite quote:

"I used to think he was in all his glory out there on the football field, running blindingly fast, catching balls that should have been impossible to catch; but I was wrong. Now I was really seeing Jason at his best — free to live his life in the service of others, fearless and compassionate, beautiful from the inside out. Now that is glorious, all right. This is Jason in all his glory."

Sometimes you come across a book that hits you right in the gut with its subject and the way they approach it. I read alot some weeks 7+ book some stay with me and get stashed in my mind as go to books when I am in a book slump. All The Glory is one of those books I will always remember this book the characters were rich and relatable. A little quirky yet lovable, the story strong and engaging. With this one book Elle Casey has became an author I will not shy away from reading anything she writes. Five stars is as high as i can go but if i could i would go closer to 9 stars if they would let me. A truly amazing read and well worth the late night i put in to finish it.

This book was a miss for me. There were too many cliches and it read like a preteen wrote it. I didn't like how the serious nature of the plot was diminished by a lack of writing ability. I also felt that the book was extremely predictable. I was also disappointed by the lack of imagination and use of racial stereotypes. The author's attempt to make the black people "sound black" was offensive. Especially the old "white people save the poor black kids/adults/neighborhood" storyline.

I feel like I wasted my time reading this.

Elle Casey........I don't know how she keeps doing it!!!! This is a situation/ scenario that is very serious and sensitive, but Elle can tell a story that is a little scary and still have just enough one liners to give you a great ab work out!!

Loved this one!!!

Surprisingly good. I bought this book on a whim when I read the intriguing synopsis after it popped up in my emails. It tackles a very serious issue with friendship and romance and I'm a sucker for any story with a trial in it! The main characters were great but sometimes said or did things that were a bit questionable plus the high school stereotypes were a bit much but this book kept me hooked.

This was a different read...the story is told through Katy's eyes and her unwavering friendship to help Jason. Although I figured out the twist early, it didn't lessen my desire to finish the book to read the ending. It was a story of friendship and miss conceived labels. Well worth the reading.
