Mismatched

Rate this book
Former college roommates Erin and Ridlee leave Boston for Ireland to track down an inheritance, and end up at a matchmaking festival in Lisdoonvarna.... Ridlee's a newly minted attorney, and Erin's part owner of the Pot O' Gold Pub, hoping to buy out her new, mysterious partner, some old Irish guy she'd never heard of before the reading of her late grandmother's will. It seemed like it would be an easy thing to show up, find the bloke, and make him an offer… But the magic that is Ireland and the people who speak the lilting Irish brogue are as unpredictable as the weather, and things get a little more complicated than the girls anticipated when the town's legendary matchmaker pulls out his leather-bound book and proposes two matches…

So, the lovely Wendy recommended this book to me. I read her review and her blurb on the recommendation and sort of rolled my eyes and said… OK, another fecking clichéd book to keep the fecking foreigners happy. Then I read the book description and saw that it was set in Lisdoonvarna (no, not a fictional village). This place is literally half an hour away from the village I grew up in. So I was a little bit excited but also a little bit worried. I one-clicked the pre-order and promptly forgot about it.

Wendy's wonderful review

Then yesterday, St Patrick's Day, I see it on my Kindle in the morning. I had started KA's Soaring and, as you know I am a huge fan of KA and usually cannot put her books down... but sure, I said to meself, for the day that's in it, let's give this one a shot.

Why was I worried? Well, most of you know me and how I like my "IRISH" to be authentic. Darby O'Gill and the LIttle People is a great movie … but not really representative of Ireland. C'mon, Leprechauns?

As I was reading this I said to myself, why does that author's name seem so familiar … Elle Casey? Checked it out and see I have read and LOVED her Shine Not Burn series. I kinda hoped I was onto a winner then. I hadn't heard of the other author Amanda McKeon. She has written other books but not in a genre that I am that interested in.

Love Erin and Ridlee - FYI, nobody in Ireland is named Erin. Well, very few people. Loved their arrival in Dublin, meeting her family. Yep, stuff like that does happen. Big meet and greet at the airport, then into the Airport Bar for a quick Pint.

'Fuck it' is Erin's favorite response to anything bothering her, but when she's especially angry like she is now, her Irish accent gets really strong and it sound like she's saying fook.

The fook think annoyed me. But I supposed the author explained it.

The interactions with her family in the house were funny.

"Is she right in the head?"
"Ridlee's a lawyer, Dad."
"Oh," is all he says, taking another swig of his pint.

Wendy mentioned in her review that she found the rhythm of the language a bit hard to grasp. I suppose it is written as Irish folks speak … well some of it. Found the use of the "ye" and "yer" a bit too much. Then again, I haven't lived there for nearly 30 years so maybe dialects in certain part of the country are still quite strong like that.

So they venture to Doolin and Lisdoonvarna. The Matchmaking Festival is on. It must be September. That was one of the highlights of our year … hitching a ride down by the Grotto in Corofin to Lisdoonvarna on a Saturday night. Do I need to provide "translations" here? One Saturday night myself and my sister and a friend were hitiching a ride. None of us had cars back then. This car stopped and we got in … there was a horrible smell in the car but beggers can't be choosers so off we set. I think I must have gagged at one stage. The farmer turned to me and said …"Sorry about the smell, but I was at the mart today and the trailer had a flat tyre so I had to put the sheep in the back of the car." So there we were heading off to good old Lisdoonvarna smelling like sheep. Ah, good times.

Is this hammed up for the foreign reader. I think so. If I was not from the region would I have enjoyed it as much. You know something, I think I would. But it was an added bonus for me to read about my home County.

Do all Irishmen look like this? Not a hope in Hell but sure we can live and dream.

I have a confession to make. I met my husband at said Matchmaking Festival in Lisdoonvarna in 1987.
I wasn’t there to be "matched". I was there with friends and he was there staying with his friend, the local Curate …. I know, only in Ireland. He asked me to dance… the song that was playing was Ride On, by Christy Moore. I know, only in Ireland. But, hey, we are still together. He was a city slicker and I was a country bumpkin. No shame in that.

"And its County Clare. Lisdooonvarna to be exact. And I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you, it'll just be a very big band of mucksavages loookin' for sex."

Won't say too much more. I should hope not, I hear ye say. You've fecking written a whole novel already!!

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph, there aren't even any towels in here. Ridlee, could you get me one from the airing cupboard?"

The men are brooding, sexy, handsome.

It was a fun read and I hope there is a second book for Ridlee and to catch up with Erin and Mícheál.

LISDOONVARNA, by Christy MOORE

How's it goin' there everybody,
From Cork, New York, Dundalk, Gortahork and Glenamaddy.
Here we are in the County Clare
It's a long, long way from here to there.
There's the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher,
And the Tulla and the Kilfenora,
Miko Russell, Doctor Bill,
Willy Clancy and Noel Hill.
Flutes and fiddles everywhere.
If it's music you want,
You should go to Clare.

CHORUS

Oh, Lisdoonvarna
Lisdoon, Lisdoon, Lisdoon, Lisdoonvarna!

Everybody needs a break,
Climb a mountain or jump in a lake.
Some head off to exotic places,
Others go to the Galway Races.
Mattie goes to the South of France,
Jim to the dogs, Peter to the dance.
A cousin of mine goes potholing,
A cousin of heres loves Joe Dolan.
Summer comes around each year,
We go there and they come here.
Some jet off to ... Frijiliana,
But I always go to Lisdoonvarna.

CHORUS

I always leave on a Thursday night,
With me tent and me groundsheet rolled up tight.
I like to hit Lisdoon,
In around Friday afternoon.
This gives me time to get me gear together,
I don't need to worry about the weather.
Ramble in for a pint of stout,
And you'd never know who'd be hangin' about!
There's a Dutchman playing a mandolin,
And a German looking for Liam Og O'Floinn.
And there's Adam, Bono and Garrett Fitzgerald,
Gettin' their photos taken for the Sunday World.
Finbarr, Charlie and Jim Hand,
And they drinkin' pints to bate the band.
.. Ain't it grand?

CHORUS

The multitudes, they flocked and thronged,
To hear the music and the songs.
Motorbikes and Hi-ace vans,
With bottles - barrels - flagons - cans.
Mighty craic. Loads of frolics,
Pioneers and alcoholics,
PLAC, SPUC and the FCA,
Free Nicky Kelly and the IRA.
Hairy chests and milk-white thighs,
And mickey dodgers in disguise.
Mc Graths, O'Briens, Pippins, Coxs,
Massage parlours in horse boxes.
There's amhráns & bodhráns, amadáns
Arab sheiks, Hindu Sikhs, Jesus freaks,
RTE are makin' tapes, takin' breaks and throwin' shapes.
This is heaven, this is hell.
Who cares? Who can tell?
(Anyone for the last few Choc Ices, now?)

CHORUS

A 747 for Jackson Browne,
They had to build a special runway just to get him down.
Before the Chieftains could start to play,
Seven creamy pints came out on a tray.
Shergar was ridden by Lord Lucan,
Seán Cannon did the backstage cookin'.
Clannad were playin' "Harry's Game",
Christy was singin' "Nancy Spain".
Mary O'Hara and Brush Shields,
Together singin' "The Four Green Fields".
Van the Man and Emmy Lou,
Moving Hearts and Planxty too!

CHORUS

Everybody needs a break,
Climb a mountain or jump in a lake.
Sean Doherty goes to the Rose of Tralee,
Oliver J. Flanagan goes swimming in the Holy Sea.
But I like the music and the open air,
So every Summer I go to Clare.
Coz Woodstock, Knock nor the Feast of Cana,
Can hold a match to Lisdoonvarna.

4 From Pot O' Gold to Pot O' Love Stars * * * *

Oh, the desire to say all of the silly phrases we, Americans, think are Irish right now...I will not. First, because I have more discipline than that and second, because I have learned well from my Mentor of all things Irish, Mo... never to feck around with that shite.

This was a very sweet and fun story done by accomplished authors. They took two friends from college...different from each other but bonded for all eternity. One was a granddaughter to a savvy, close to the vest business woman from the old country. Erin had devoted years to looking out for her grandma; she cooked, cleaned and listened...she also turned a pub which was on its luck to a more fruitful business. She took every dime made and put it right back into the business making it her own.

Ridlee is on her way. She just passed the Massachusetts bar. She is ready to take on the Legal profession. She has been working towards this since college and doing it stylishly, I might add.... 4 and 5 inch heels, designer labels...all part of the glorious uniform to take on the world.

We are there with Erin; she is at the attorney's office to hear about her inheritance from the passing of her grandma. As she sits there waiting to hear the bar she has worked so hard making what it is today...is hers...she hears instead...she must share it with some person over in Ireland...He owns HALF!

Oh, no.... this is not going to happen at all. Erin knows her bestie will know what to do... she calls Ridlee and tells her of her plight. Both women put their heads together and a plan is hatched. Erin's family is in Dublin; they will visit there first and then go to the town where this man lives, make him a "fair" offer and buy his portion from him. Then Erin can take the business world by storm having the best Irish Pub in the country.

The girls arrive in Ireland and Erin's entire family greets them...Parents, Uncles, Aunts, Nieces....the whole group. It is a welcome which ends all welcomes. Ridlee is taking all of this in...and get's on board with it all. It is everything Erin said it would be. After settling down and visiting for a day, the girls travel to the town where they think this co owner lives. We journey with them, arrive at the home which is a relative and has been turned into a B and B.

That night both of them go to a pub, ask around a bit and find out there is a matchmaker holding court at a table in the corner. There is a huge event taking place in a few days. The women chuckle to themselves. Chatting is done with the locals... Guinness is consumed like water and the women end up meeting local gents who are each charming in their own grand way.

Attraction happens but both women fight to be focused on the reason at hand... find the man who owns the other half of Pot O' Gold... each woman tries to put aside the pull to these men... for the lives they will be having after this week ends in Boston, not Ireland.

Now here I want to explain why I am not going to go further in the tale. Reading this story is like traveling to Ireland itself...at least it felt that way to me. At first I had to adjust to the language and rhythm to the words. It seem authentic to me...It was a little hard to grasp,,, but don't let that turn you away. Stay with it because the reading has a huge pleasurable pay off. It also has such charm and fun.

The men these women meet would turn any woman... one more dynamic than the other but perfect for both. The way all of it shapes out is in two parts... the first in Ireland... and then the second in Boston.
All of it worked for me and I thoroughly had fun...even when knowing the path of what was happening very early in my head. It did not take away for I was committed to it.

The pairing of Elle Casey (Shine not Burn) and Amanda McKeon
(Morrigan: Trials of a Teenage Witch) worked extremely well and I see another entry into this storyline. The secondary characters deserve their story and there is enough investment by the reader to merit it.

So, I will not end my review with some kind of sign off full of Irish charm...just with the nudge and push to try this out.

This was a cute story about two best friends, Erin and Ridlee. It's unique because it's told in alternating POVs from them both. They are funny, sassy, and real. They get snippy with each other and tell each other things that aren't always nice but true. But they really do look out and love each other. And their banter and conversations are so funny!!! They are a hoot!

Erin is left with only half of the Irish pub that she's worked so hard to bring back to life. Her late grandmother leaves the other half to someone in Ireland. So with newly minted lawyer and best friend, Ridlee, in tow, they are off back to Erin's homeland. Where there are cliffs, 40 shades of green land, pubs, plenty of Guinness to be had, and alluring farmers and sexy as all hell Bodhran players weaves their spell on Erin and Ridlee. They fight hard against being "those" women who gives up their dreams and goals and aspirations for love. They were there to take care of business - in and out quickly. And they do but not without some lingering effects.

The best friends' relationship was very well established and laid out. We don't get a lot of Micheal but what we do get is sweet and his and Erin's first night together....HOT!
When Micheal asked Ridlee to dance first, Erin was disappointed until Micheal explains, "Take care of her friend first. Then you'll win her heart. That's what my granddad always told me. Come on. You'll break my heart if ye don't dance with me."

It leaves the ending at a good place but realistic. We wonder about Ridlee so we are set up for a Ridlee story hopefully.

This was a fun read as I expected from my fav "Shine Not Burn" author and I was not disappointed. I really really liked it!!!

Mismatched and I did not get on the right foot when we started off...
I just didn't feel it. I wasn't even sure what it was... I just couldn't deal with it.
So just put it aside- I had a couple of let's struggle through it books before that. I simply just couldn't struggle through another one.
Then more than a week later I picked it up again. And wonder of wonders suddenly this was less of a chore and way more fun.
The first half of this seemed so cliche. The whole insta-lust....
Ridley's view of Ireland- and Erin's odd behavior about it
At about 30% I would have rated this a generous 3Stars at best, more like 2.5
And then somehow slowly Mismatched creeped up on me. And by 80% I found myself darn invested in Erin, Ridlee, Donal, Michael... well everyone really.
And even worse! At the end my first thought: Hey, wait what? That can't be it? It can't be done yet?!!
I might have paged back and forth making sure I didn't miss anything.
So I guess this is 3.5 Stars really.
BUT the second half was way better for me than the first third and I want more! (PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS MORE??!!) so I rounded up.

I think the character building is done splendidly. I honestly didn't like Erin much in the beginning. In fact I found her very annoying. It did change as the story went on. She really grew on me, the more I got to know about her the more she made sense and the more I actually liked her.
I am not sure how I feel about Donal btw.. I mean with him just fading out the way he did. And let me just put it out there in case that was missed. I want more. Specifically more of Donal. Just saying
.
I loved the crew in Ireland. It was fun and while at first I was a bit worried that it will be totally full of typical tourist conception. I was delighted to find I was wrong (ok,so in my defence: I didn't realise that McKeon is Irish) I came to love Lisdoonvarna and most importantly it's inhabitants.
I adored all of the descriptions of Ireland and of Boston as well ( which by the way I still haven't visited- it is on my never ending bucket list!)

The storyline is quirky. A bit of cliche and has a few twists and turns thrown in I really didn't expect- many that I totally did. Very nice cute and fluffy indeed.
It has a few insta's all over it. But quite frankly- I met Mr. O while I was traveling- I am a bit biased when it comes to meeting your guy while traveling... well actually maybe a lot biased. I think since I am so negative inclined towards the insta..well, insta-everything.. we can actually disregard my bias, it probably about balances it out.

One comment on the whole odd Irland thing: I honestly can't relate. Maybe because I am not American? Maybe because people from Heidiland (also known as Switzerland) are actually really quirky? Maybe it's because I am a total nomad, who has lived on several continents...
Or maybe because I just never expected Ireland to be anything I knew but simply loved discovering what it was? I really am not sure, but I found myself wondering why anyone would go to Ireland and expect it to be like anywhere else? (i.e. the US?) *shrugs*
Anyway.

Last but not least: the cover slut in my was total sold by that cover. And after reading this... sigh.. I even approve more (totally Erin....)

I want more! Please publish the next book FAST!

Forget green beer, the best way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is a hottie with an Irish brogue. So in preparation of March 17th I snuggled up with not one, but two Irish charmers in Mismatched.

The start of Erin and Ridlee’s story, while cute, was a bit slow. I like my romance with substance, and a good backstory goes a long way, but I felt a lot of the first 1/3 of the novel was a bit jumbled together. The story surrounding Erin and her pub back in Boston (her grandmother kicked the bucket and left Erin the pub . . . well half the pub) was a fun surprise. But when Erin and Ridlee meet Erin’s family in Ireland it’s rushed and awkward. I wish the authors had either left it out or added more material. Ridlee’s background was almost nonexistent. Although, this story focuses on Erin’s romance so maybe we’ll get more about Ridlee in the next book.

When Erin and Ridlee finally meet their men (Michaél and Donal) it’s adorable. I especially loved Erin and Michaél’s first unofficial date. It was sweet and sexy, and definitely one of my new favorite ways to have fun outside. I liked Donal and Ridlee too, we just didn’t get much of their relationship, which I though was a little odd since the book flips between Erin and Ridlee’s perspective.

There were elements of this book that I loved (in fact there’s one paragraph in particular that I would buy this book for alone), but I do think it fell a bit flat of my expectations. If you’re in need of an Irish romance you can give Mismatched a try while it’s on sale as a pre-order before it releases.

I'm not sure, I think for the most part, this book just isn't completely my cup of tea.
It was really hard to get into and I actually only started to enjoy it after about 40-50%. That's a long time before I actually liked it. The Irish language made it harder for me. there's also a bit of insta-love mixed in and I feel like there's not really an end to the story. I want to know what happens to Donan. But I guess that's reserved for the next book.

Anyhoo, It was an okay read and I am curious to see how Ridlee and Donan end up.

Ugh. Did not like the mix of the two authors writing styles, nor did I like the trade off POVs between the 2 heroines. Not to my taste at all.

Sad to say but I just could not get into this book... I have loved all of Elle Casey's other books but this book just did not hook me. The first quarter just waffled and I found myself doing some speed reading to get through the gaping holes in the story. The two main characters have no substance, and I just could not make myself like either of them - no effort was put into seeing how they felt on a deeper level, their thoughts and comments seemed so silly at times (more often than not). The men did not even feature, they seemed a side issue a lot of the time, no depth. I also get that the story is based in Ireland but fail to see why we need to have to go into so much detail about how things are spelt or pronounced in Ireland etc etc it does nothing to enhance the story if anything its distracting. Maybe it's just me but I like characters to have some backbone and depth, an none of them had for me. If I was not such a sucker to finish a book hoping it would get better I would have stopped reading half way through....

So I was all excited to write this raving review. I still am. But I have to put this out there first. The ending left me hanging. It felt so incomplete. There was so much left open. And best I can figure out, it’s a standalone. And because of the ending, I’m feeling kind of down. But up until the ending, seriously the last page, I loved this book.

The humor of Mismatched is awesome. I laughed so much while reading. I especially loved the all the talk about Big Dick. You see, Big Dick, is a horse. Now just think of all you can say about a horse named Big Dick, including riding him. In all seriousness, Mismatched rivals the humor of Wallbanger by Alice Clayton and Snacks and Seduction by Tara Sivec. After reading so many serious books recently, it was just what I needed.

So while Mismatched is a love story with a great romance, it really is a book about friendship. And an awesomely amazing friendship at that. It is told from the POVs from 2 best friends, Erin and Ridlee. And it about their adventure of going back to Erin’s home of Ireland and trying to find the person her grandmother left half the bar Erin runs to. And it is an adventure. With a ton of humor. Nothing goes right, the cast of characters you meet along the way and the circumstances they find themselves in all make for an extremely funny story. Oh and all the Guinness they drink. That helps with the antics.

Like I said earlier, this book is awesome, minus the ending. The open storylines of not only Erin, who really is the main character and her love story is in the forefront, and Ridlee, who meet an awesome guy in Ireland, even though her story is in the background, really needs to be completed. If there isn’t a follow up, I really hope both the authors are prepared for me to start stalking the for answers.

First, I just want to say that after I finished this book I found myself talking with an Irish lilt. That's very important, considering I spent half an hour calling my sister a " wee lass".
Mismatched is a love story filled with humor, romance, and all that legal mumbo jumbo I can't wrap my head around any way. The first lines caught my attention from the very beginning, and at times I found myself tearing through the book with a fierce need to know what happened next. Our main characters Erin and Ridlee are a laugh riot duo with great personalities, and I found myself finding ways to connect with the two of them. Our male leads were adorable and I may have found myself crushing on them just a tad. With a very original storyline infused romance, humor, and great characters, mismatched is a great read.
However, there were times in the beginning where I found myself becoming somewhat bored since the plot hadn't really picked up, when it did pick up I was quite pleased. I'm hoping there will be a part two, they've left me wanting more.

There were definitely some funny parts in this book but overall I just couldn't connect with either main character or the storyline... The flow was of the story was all over the place, some of it was predictable and at times it felt like there was a lot of fluff... I wasn't really happy about the ending, it felt rushed and things felt unfinished... We get Erin's semi HEA but what about Ridlee?

It wasn't bad and I really laughed at times. However, several things:
- I did not particularly understand why was it a dual POV from two friends? I mean, I'd get it if they both found love and stuff, but Ridlee's pov basically just complimented Erin's (which could have been told from Erin's point of view) and her love interest in the book didn't even pan out.
- the book was supposed to be about finding the person who's the owner of the bar and buy him out. It just felt like that for most of the book, that part of the story was pretty much sidelined. And I mean, who goes somewhere to sort some legal stuff out and decides to arrive on a weekend? God.
- the way Erin just forgave Micheál (or Michaél? Turns out even the authors don't know!) after what he made her go through several weeks of hell and thinking she might lose her bar
- the grammar errors. There were just too many of them (and I'm talking basic stuff) not to notice. It just kept me from getting into the story at times.

A simple, uncomplicated, easy to read book which can easily be finished in under an hour.

A bit odd at the start, the book just kind of stumbles around aimlessly for a while, but then it picks up. Lots of fluff, zero angst, dual POV, and mostly likeable characters. The characters could have been fleshed out a bit more, but nonetheless a fun read.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest opinions.

I love it when I come across a story that is nothing like anything I have read in the huge abyss of the book world. This book is the perfect read when you just want to rug up on the couch and get lost in a great story.

Erin has spent the last few years working her ass off in a pub owned by her grandmother in downtown Boston. She has pretty much single handedly turned the whole business around and growing it into a successful bar. The Pot 'O' Gold pub is where her future is. When her grandmother passes away she has the rug pulled out from under when she is informed that only half of it is hers and the other has been left to some old guy in Ireland.

Erin convinces her lawyer friend Ridlee to accompany her back to her home country of Ireland to find this other person so she can buy them out and rightfully own the pub as hers.

"Me god where are we? Did we just travel back in time or what?" I'm staring out over mist-covered green fields, outlined by low stone walls that must have been erected over a thousand years ago and possibly by elves - Ridlee

Obviously this is a huge culture shock for Ridlee as she meets Erin's family and tries her first pint of guinness. Then there are the pub crawls, where they meet the village matchmaker and enjoy some irish music. What about those irish men though? There is nothing metrosexual about these men, they are pure, salt of the earth, rugged and freaking sexy.

"When I seem him in profile, I think that Ireland's tourism board should put him on a postcard. This country'd be overflowing with tourists every day of the year." - Ridlee

This is a crazy adventure for Erin and Ridlee as they try to track down the mysterious half owner of the Pot 'O' Gold pub. One of them has a hot unforgettable one night stand and one of them gets offered to ride a guys 'big dick.' Plenty of guinness is consumed, singing and dancing on the tables also features on their 'things I probably shouldn't do when I'm drunk' list. And one of them leaves such a lasting impression behind them in Ireland, that a bit of Ireland follows them home.

There are so many laugh out loud moments in this story, I loved it.

I have read the Rebel trilogy by Elle Casey and absolutely loved it; Rebel became an all-time fave BBF.

Now, it was a little bit harder to get into this one - due to a funk I was in from another book I read before - but it picks up and gets you sucked in, after a while. It also takes you to Ireland, making you feel like you're there, seeing what the characters are.

Erin and Ridlee go to Ireland, where they meet two sexy Irish men. The book is told from dual POV, so we get to know both girls' feelings and what happens when they don't spend time together. I was oscillating between them on who was my favorite; whom I liked and whom I wanted to shake some sense into. At first, the focus is on both couples, but then it settles on only one.

I think I have a new BBF because hello, big and mysterious Irishman! Speaking of, Ridlee cracked me up here,

"What the hell. How often will I get propositioned by a giant Irishman to ride his Big Dick? Probably never again. I'm pretty sure I'm dreaming this right now, in fact."

I'm giving this book 4 stars and I really can't wait for book two.

Love across the world?!

This book is Mismatched written by Elle Casey. I have not yet read anything by Elle that I didn't love, and this book is no exception. It's about Erin, who's Grandmother has passed away and left her HALF of the pub that she has been running singlehandedly for the last several years, and her best friend Ridlee, who has just completed her training as an attorney, and their trip to Ireland. The ladies are in search of the other half owner of the pub so they can buy him out and get on with their lives. They run across a couple of great guys while searching and have to decide how to move forward while living across the world from one another. Will they try to make it work or just put it all behind them and move forward? Read the book to understand my ramblings.....so I don't seem like I'm crazy....;-) , please?? Please don't make me feel like I'm crazy.....

Perfect Escape Read

I enjoyed this book even though I wasn't sure at the beginning as I have to figure out the Irish translation but once I did I fell in love With Erin and Ridlee. Erin is strong, independent, and sexy woman that has inherited her bar from grandma only to find out she has to share it. Erin and her best friend go on an adventure to find this partner all the way in Ireland. Adventures are happening and love finds you when you aren't looking.. This is a very good read and makes me want to head to Ireland to find me a strong Irish Man..

3.5 stars. I nearly put this book down a few times but I am glad I persevered. The story is told from the perspectives of two friends Erin and Ridlee travelling to Erin's home country of Ireland to sort out her grandmothers will. Both have sideline romantic stories, these take a while to get to. Only one comes to fruition and to me the other is left with too many questions. Not sure if there will be another book.

Erin and Ridlee are two single successful women living in Boston. Erin's grandmother's sudden passing has left more questions than answers. Suddenly Erin is forced to go back home to Ireland to find out who else holds half the rights to the Pot-O-Gold bar. She and Ridlee hop across the pond and stay in a quaint B&B while hunting down the lawyer who can get them back to Boston. What Ridlee and Erin don't plan on is falling for blue eyes and brogues.

I'm Not sure how to rate this book. I liked it but it was.....different. First it dual POV, but it the two friends POV not the male and female characters. In the end it mostly Erin story. IDK I felt it ending pretty fast too. With a Happy for now ending.....and what happened to Ridlee and her HEA? IDK it was like it was two books(Erin and Ridlees) then at the end it only told the ending of one of the stories??? Also I didn't feel the deep love or connection between them either?!?!

I am a HUGE fan of Elle Casey. Shine Not Burn is one of my favorite books of all time. That said, I didn't get the same feeling from this one. It wasn't really my thing. I thought it would be because of having a Boston theme and set in Ireland. The Irish language and slang made it hard for me to follow.

Reading this book felt like taking a trip to Ireland. I really enjoyed the characters and the friendship between Erin and Rilee. I couldn't get into the alternating point of view between the two girls. Half the time I couldn't remember who was talking. And I was turned off by their business choices. Not cool. I wound up skimming a lot just to get to the end.

Sorry... too slow

I was pretty disappointed I'm afraid to say... there were some genuinely laugh out loud funny parts to this book and I have loved Elle Casey's other novels but I found this one painfully slow...i nearly gave up quarter way thru but I hate giving up on a book so persevered...sorry Elle this was not for me.

Amazing and addictive

I loved the characters, all of them. So much depth to them and you can tell that we didn't even find out about them all, which makes them more human and makes me want to read more. Learn more about them. I could totally see this become a tv show. I would watch the crap outta that show!

Traveling BFFs

Liked this book. Good humor. Loved the Irish culture and language used. The characters are good together but, the story is told from both friends points of view but only one has an ending. There needs to be a book the finish Ridlee. Then I can give it more stars. I did enjoy the book.

This is the first book I read that was written in 2 POV's but not of the couple, of 2 best friends. This was part of the reason I kept reading. Mismatched was a little difficult for me to follow.
My book, Unsound (available right now on Amazon) is written in 6 POV's in a cohesive story. Mismatched seemed just that... mismatched, not really a cohesive story.

The back and forth of perspectives was jarring and I had a harder time getting into it. I set it down for about 48 hours and when I picked it back up I couldn't remember who was whom. In the end I just gave up.
