“You won’t just disappear as my mom did, will you?”

Here comes the emotional massive wave. I'm having contradictory thoughts about where I want this tale to go and where I think it's going, despite the fact that I'm really enjoying it.

As the hero finishes his concert, the mystery of his missing musical companion is explained, and another character realises their actual sentiments, this volume deals with catharsis, denial, and love.

This series is a masterpiece in storytelling.

You might like to wander through a few artistic journals — they’re full of sparks and surprises.

I’m not sure how I’m going to make it through this series. There are so many amazing elements that revolve around themes of healing, grief, loneliness, isolation, familial expectations, friendship and more. Though this volume has less “action” than previous volumes, I truly believe it’s one of the volumes that evokes the most emotion (so far). Kosei is finding his way back to the piano and through that journey he’s finding healing. I think that he’s going to have to experience one more significant loss before the music comes back to his ears and I know that my heart will be shattered for it.

This series goes for big emotions which you either roll your eyes at or let yourself get swept away with. I'm swept. This volume deals with catharsis, denial, and love as the hero finishes his concert, the mystery of his missing musical partner is solved, and another character comes to realize their true feelings.

Soap opera with pianos. Love it.

Two panels in this volume seemed especially poignant to me. One is about halfway through the book. It's a close-up of a pile of library books in Kaori's hospital room, and the caption is Kaori's thought: "I don't have time to read all these."

The other is a few pages later, when Tsubaki's friend is challenging her about her real feelings toward Kosei. The final panel of their conversation shows the sky, with the caption, "Someday it's going to be too late to fix it." (It's unclear to me whether it's said or thought by Tsubaki or her friend; any of those options would work.) It's one of those quiet moments that I like about manga and anime.

This series is such excellent storytelling.

The first half of the volume was so beautiful.... the second half is starting to make me feel depressed already though-
I do appreciate that the manga goes more into the complexity of Kousei's love for his mum, despite everything that has happened and her abusive nature. The series does acknowledge that Kousei's mum goes too far, it does, however, also show her 'reasoning'. Even though I appreciate the nuance and understand that the relationship between Kousei and his mum is complex, I feel a bit weird about it. On one side, the book is clear enough that her reasoning isn't an excuse, I don't do well with stories giving the 'she did it out of love' reasoning.
I'm double on it, the book for sure doesn't fully excuse nor glorify the abuse, and again: I do appreciate that they show complexity because these kinds of relationships are never black and white. I just think that they should've put a bit more attention on that side of the story. I can see the intent, but it does make you raise an eyebrow for a second.

THIS ONE SLAPPED 😁 this is one of my favorite parts of the story, i remember loving it in the show as well. he’s finally able to let go of his mother’s shadow and say his final goodbye. also tsubaki is being focused more!! i love her because she’s such an average girl with realistic feelings. can’t wait for the next oneee although kaori is already struggling so yikes 😥

This made me tear up. It is so sad just as Tsubaki was understanding her feelings, Kosei said he was leaving. 😭 and with Kaori feeling sick noooooo. Kosei can’t take that. I can’t take that.

It's amazing how good a musical manga can be, WITHOUT THE MUSIC AND STILL WITH ALL THE FEELS. Although apparently the anime adaptation did the music really well so I can't wait to watch that :D

This is, among other things, a love story with two possible choices for Kaori to fall in love with. He has made his choice, but I haven't. I really like both. That's unusual, but this is an unusual manga.

En el flashback, la justificación de la mamá de Kousei para cagar a palos al hijo fue re ??? una cosa es ser exigente y otra llenarlo de moretones y todo "para que pueda vivir de la musica cuando ella no esté" es joda???? el hecho de tener una enfermedad terminal no justifica que le cagues la vida a tu hijo, igualmente entiendo que Kousei la ame, obvio ya que es la madre pero la justificación de la mina fue CUALQUIERA y que Kaori le oculte que está gravemente enferma (no hay que ser genio para darse cuenta) a sus amigos me parece egoísta. Veremos como sigue

I rate this 3.5 stars because the mangaka did what I was dreading might happen, which is try to make us sympathize with the abuser. He was basically saying, it's ok that his mom treated him horribly after she got sick because she only did all that because she was afraid of what might happen after she's gone. News flash, there is no good excuse for child abuse, except maybe if the abuser has a mental problem but even then I'm not so sure. Normally when it comes to fictional characters, there's a lot of things I can let go because these people are not real. I don't mind age gap relationships like in Takane & Hana and Hitorijime My Hero (in fact, I'm enjoying those series) and in Japan it's seen as differently than some people see here. I also don't mind fan service or many other crazy stuff. It's just when there's child abuse it bothers me a lot, especially when people in that series don't do anything about it.

Y yo que pensaba que Shinji Ikari era un pesado llorando por la mamá en monólogo interior...

A ver, hay dos cosas que no me vienen gustando del tomo anterior y de este. Por un lado hay una romantización de los abusos de la mamá de Arima. No gente, no hay razón que justifique eso, ni siquiera una sarasa de filosofía ponja. Pero ponele que esa la dejamos pasar. Lo más heavy es que NO PASA NADA. Avanza demasiado lento esto. Con razón mucha gente la largaba en estos tomos. Si esto te lo ibas comprando a medida que salía era una tristeza. La serie arrancó con buen ritmo, personajes interesantes, relaciones complejas, pero se atascó dando vueltas sobre sí mismo hace dos tomos mínimo. Y las mil páginas de monólogo interno musical son re lindas, pero no dicen nada. Por lo menos el final de este está bueno...

Se siente la emoción que los personajes liberan en cada pagina, tanto con las escenas musicales como las de vida cotidiana a poco más de la mitad de la historia se siente hacia donde avanzara la historia, Kosei se esta liberando del peso que ha cargado por mucho tiempo que le ha impedido avanzar como músico pero a la vez se siente que un nuevo peso caerá sobre el respecto a Kaori, con la cual espero profundicen más respecto a la enfermedad que tiene, el personaje que en esta ocasión tuvo más protagonismo fue Tsubaki la cual parece empezara a tener más relevancia para la historia a partir de ahora. Mi única queja con el tomo es que los personajes tienen platicas internas que no se sientes acordes a su edad sino más profundas y adultas.

Arima è riuscito a superare il demone della madre, ha realizzato il significato dei suoi comportamenti e ha suonato davanti ad un pubblico. Un grande risultato per il ragazzo ma i problemi non sono finiti: Kaori è in ospedale e sta male anche se non vuole ammetterlo e Tsubaki finalmente capisce i suoi sentimenti nei confronti del ragazzo. Ho molto apprezzato la parte iniziale con Arima, mi piacciono molto le scene che si svolgono mentre i personaggi suonano. Una serie che mi ha preso da subito e che adesso entra finalmente nel vivo.

Kaori doesn't show up for her own exhibition to play and what's Kosei to do? Can an accompanist play in her stead? Well, that doesn't matter, because that's exactly what Kosei does.

Here is the beginning of Kosei truly finding himself again. As he plays he reaches new understanding about who he is, about how he feels, and about his relationship with music. Beautifully done, this manga keeps getting better and better. The seeds of unease have been sown though. We start to see the sad ending we know is coming. Can I take it?

Tengo sentimientos encontrados respecto a este tomo. La primera parte me encantó, todo lo relacionado al concierto y la visita a Kaori; me da mucha pena Arima porque es como si estuviese viviendo las cosas por segunda vez -hasta él dice que ve a su madre en Kaori-, aunque está empezando a sanar y eso es bueno. Por otro ladoooo Tsubaki no me gusta mucho, entonces los capítulos centrados en ella siempre se me hacen un poco cuesta arriba. Aunque el momento en la playa me re gustó, Arima está empezando a caminar de nuevo y es satisfactorio de ver.

Arima finisce il suo pezzo in solitaria, facendo pace con il ricordo della mamma.

Ma l'argomento principale di questo volume sono i sentimenti di Tsubaki che, pian piano, si rende conto che Arima non è il fratellino più piccolo che credeva. La scena in cui sono entrambi in spiaggia è molto tenera.

E sembra confermato che Kaori abbia una malattia piuttosto grave. Continua a essere ricoverata in ospedale e teme di non avere il tempo per leggere tutti i libri che Watari le ha portato.

Muchas emociones para un tomo.
La presentación despidiéndose finalmente de la sombra de su madre, al fin pudiendo seguir adelante. Kaori en el hospital como un reflejo de la época de la madre de Kosei así como también el paralelo a ese sentimiento de miedo ante la posible perdida de alguien querido. Tsubaki por fin dándose cuenta de sus sentimientos por Kosei...

Ce septième tome permet de découvrir une nouvelle facette des personnages, ce qui était à la fois extrêmement intéressant et passionnant. L’entièreté de l’histoire en est impactée et cela la rend encore plus belle et plus complexe. C’était un tome fort en émotion !
Une excellente lecture donc, à l’instar des précédentes. Hâte de voir ce que la suite me réserve !

Este tomo para mi mejoró mucho la historia, lo leí muy rápido y lo disfruté bastante, ha sido una parte muy emocional y profunda, conocemos más la versión de la mamá de Kosei (aunque no justifica lo que le hizo a su hijo) pues quería que su hijo creciera y fuera fuerte. El final fue muy triste, pobre Tsubaki sufrió mucho.

A very emotional volume, finally getting into Kosei's mom's issues, though only through Seto's flashbacks. It sure would be nice if she told Kosei! Poor guy. More yearning within the love triangle, but I'm suspecting something about the end of the series that will resolve matters (painfully)...

manga bellissimo, adoro come qua nel manga venga aggiunta la backstage e scene in più che nell' anime non ci sono, ma danno più senso alla storia.
molto scorrevole, la grafica stupenda.
