Takeo Goda is a giant guy with a giant heart. Too bad the girls don’t want him! (They want his good-looking best friend, Sunakawa.) Used to being on the sidelines, Takeo simply stands tall and accepts his fate. But one day when he saves a girl named Yamato from a harasser on the train, his (love!) life suddenly takes an incredible turn!
Takeo and Yamato spend their days deeply in love. Yamato invites Takeo to a date at her house, but what’s in store when Takeo meets Yamato’s family for the first time? Furthermore, Takeo now has a rival in love! What will the gentle giant do about his incredibly handsome foe?!

Kazune Kawahara (河原和音) made her manga debut at age 18 with Kare no Ichiban Sukina Hito (His Most Favorite Person). Also, while thinking of her manga, she often spaces out and brings grocery baskets home. Adores her nieces.
Volume 8 features a visit by Takeo to Yamato's home and her parents! Also, Suna's sister Ai (who liked Takeo) comes home from college for a visit, followed by Oda, a guy who likes her, though he doesn't know how to impress her. Yamato, with her fine baking skills, goes to work in a bakery, where the chef begins to fall for her. Jealousy ahead for Takeo. My favorite part was the nervous parent meet. The other two parts are less memorable, less fun, but still very good.
This volume brought the Ai-Oda subplot to a new development. Although Takeo met Yamato's parents for this first time here, the chapters where he's the main focus were too few, and thus wasn't as memorable.
As a long-time Michael Jackson fan I specifically appreciate this volume's cover the most and was eager to own it because clearly it's my beloved MJ inspired; the pose, the glove, the jacket, the sparkles, and the pants. Beautiful. Love it.
Takeo Goda sweats his way through meeting his girlfriend's parents for the first time. Classic.
The focus then pivots to the love life of side character Ai Sunakawa, neighbor and big sister figure in Goda's life. It's a good arc, though it does too easily shrug off some stalkery acts and a couple of assaults that occur in the midst of the hijinks.
The volume wraps up with a little cliffhanger built around a co-worker at Goda's girlfriend's new summer job.
These would all be generic bits in any other manga, but Goda physical presence and sincere personality just elevate everything
3.5 stars Takeo finally meets Yamato's parents! So far into their high school relationship and he is only just now meeting them?! And she is so close to his family... I didn't expect that. Her sister worries me a bit but her parents are great. Both them and Takeo try too hard, resulting in an amusing meeting.
I really liked getting a bit more of a feel of Ai and Oda as well. Poor Oda needs to learn how to properly win a woman's heart though!
My favorite scene in this volume involves motorcycle helmets, a bicycle and a wedding dress! I will say no more there but it made me laugh!
Overall, I still really enjoy this series but at times early on it starts to feel a bit old, Yet just as I settle into that though, it seems Kazune Kawahara is adding a twist to add new excitement. Now eager for the next book!
*I was given a digital copy of this book to read in exchange for a fair, honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are strictly my own.*
Takeo meets Yamato's family, which goes pretty adorably. And then Sunakawa's sister Ai is back from college, with Oda following behind her. Even Oda loves Takeo! I love how the story with Ai and Oda ends up. Meanwhile, Yamato gets a part-time job at a pastry shop and Takeo has competition for her affections! Naturally, Yamato herslef is completely oblivious. :)
I think what I liked best about this volume was all of Takeo's crazy expressions.
This time around, we get learn a bit more about Takeo's family, a bit more about Sunakawa's sister, Ai, and have a bit of a (slightly forced) rivalry in love.
Keko conoce a los papas de. Yamato.
Ahhh just when I think I have a favorite volume, I read a new one and that becomes it! Ha!
I guess that is a good problem to have because it means I'm really enjoying the series and I definitely enjoyed this one!
I always like when we have Ai and Oda on page because they have a fun dynamic and "spice" things up by bringing extra humor. Plus, I really like them and rooting for them to be a couple!
The first chapter was SO good! I didn't really know what to expect when Takeo met Yamato's family, but it was a fun and great chapter!
I'm not fond of the new guy that shows up because he really doesn't listen to those around him. *nervous laughter* Sort of unsure where it's going to go from here, but I think the next cover makes a lot of sense due to how this volume ended. (And oh my goodness, Takeo's expression is HILARIOUS!!)
Sort of unrelated, but I really love how Takeo encouraged Yamato to do what she wanted to do deep down and pursue her passion. I thought that was really meaningful. <3
I realize this review is pretty scattered, but I laughed a lot reading this one! My favorite part is the whole family, including the baby, have that "deadly" look when they tell Oda that he better not make Ai sad because it was priceless! LOL!
The highlight of this volume is definitely Takeo visiting Yamato's parents. The rest of the chapters are okay. While I like Ai and Oda, the way their story wraps up is kind of clichéd and underwhelming. Yamato's bakery adventures got a chuckle out of me, but nothing more.
I love how well Yamato’s parents and Takeo’s interaction went and it was really cute seeing how embarrassed and nervous he got. I got a bit nervous with Ai and Oda but am happy to see her finally giving him a chance. Also, it’s great to see how well Yamato is handling her new job. But a part of me isn’t sure how to feel about Ichirose. It’ll be interesting to see Takeo get jealous and finally have a possible love rival.
Takeo meeting Yamato’s parents was just the cutest! And the situation with Ai and Oda is heading in the direction I thought it would… But what’s with this Ichinose dude at the bakery?! He thinks Yamato likes him??? Oh no trouble is coming (but I’m really not worried since this series is so chill lol)…
Takeo meeting Yamato's family was great. The final chapter about Yamato's job was pretty iffy. The middle two chapters were about pathetic predator Oda and involved him insulting Ai. It's really gross that they're making it seem like Ai and Oda are going to get together. More people should have punched him.
There was a story line that only lasted a short moment that I didn’t really like but it worked out okay in the end, overall I love this series dearly, it might be my favorite manga series or at least one of them. It made me so happy and giddy to read!
