Every gentleman has his secrets...

London 1821

After years of marriage to a selfish man who preferred gambling to his young bride, Jane, the widowed countess of Stanwell, now seeks what she was long denied—a satisfying lover. Naturally, a lady needs a list of eligible candidates, which doesn’t include the dangerously handsome (if far too arrogant) Gareth Ramsey…until he steals a sinful kiss from Jane’s all-too-willing lips.

Reputed as an arrogant barrister, Gareth’s real occupation is as a spy in the service of His Majesty, and his suspect is on Jane’s list of possible lovers. With her life in danger, there’s no safer place for Jane than with him—and in his bed. But Jane is as distracting as she is infuriating, and keeping her by his side while he pursues his mission might just endanger them both…

It’s the first book of Tina Gabrielle I am reading and I must say I totally liked her writing style and I will definitely check her work in the future. I love historical romances and I really enjoyed this story with these interesting and strong characters.
it is the story about a young woman who has decided that she needs to find a new lover. Jane is now widowed. Her husband was an ignorant man who spent his days gambling instead of fulfill his marital duties. After her husband’s death by commiting suicide she has to suffer the rumors of the society that she was the one that let her husband die in order to live her own life Now tired of being lonely she makes her own list of possible candidates. This list doesn’t include the handsome Gareth Ramsey an attractive barrister. Gareth Ramsey steals her a kiss and he is trying to convince her to include him in her list. What Lady Jane doesn´t know is that Mr Ramsey is indeed a spy of the majesty and one of his suspects is one of Jane´s possible lovers. Although Ramsey feels an immediate attraction for Jane and the duty gets between his passion. What I liked the most in the book was this amazing attraction and chemistry of the two main heroes. A kiss was enough to put on the fire. It was just incredible the power they had together as lovers. They both search for passion. No commitments, no marriage. After Gareth´s pressure finally Jane accepts him and they begin their passionate love story. Their nights are no longer the same. Did I mention how much I loved their chemistry? But there is a problem. Gareth is a man full of secrets and Jane made the mistake to trust him after a long time without letting anyone get into her heart.
I really liked Jane. She is a very strong woman. I felt sympathy for her. She never felt lovable from her dead husband and she never had the chance to have her own baby which was one of her biggest illusions. She thought herself sterile so feeling kind of half a woman she only wanted to feel lustful again. She never asked for love until Gareth came on her way and changed everything. She thought that finally she could trust him and let him enter to her life but his hidden secrets made her take dramatic decisions. Even though I didn’t agree with her decisions I can understand her because in that moment and with the new data that came up to her life she needed to act immediately in order to be safe.
Gareth Ramsey is of those alpha and dominant males we use to love in books. He is attractive, secretive and very sexy. He carries himself a troubled childhood and he never thought he could ever commit to a woman. He loves his secret job but what happens when he finds something or better someone that loves most? I loved the way Jane got into his life and managed with her character to change his theory of life. He was a man but he didn’t scare to declare in love when he finally realized it and he was ready to battle in order to win back the love of his life.
A beautiful love story settled in London 1820 that you will definitely enjoy. Easy reading what you need as your company to the beach

An OK read..

In A Spy Unmasked Sophia became TSTL and I’ll be darned if Jane didn’t do this same thing in this book. I just hope she gets over her stupidity as fast as Sophia did. And, of course, she added drunkenness to her stupidity. It’s a really good story but, good grief, why do the heroines have to go off the deep-end. Why do the authors try to make us believe that that’s brave and she’s able to take care of herself when it just makes her look ignorant? Yeah, but not for long. Yay! The author didn’t drag out Jane’s *stupidness* but I still knew she would get into more trouble.

And, yes, Jane then had another TSTL moment when she was in the carriage with Gareth and he was trying to explain that he couldn’t tell her who he worked for and she got all pi$$y and told him she should stayed with Simon. Now, had I been Gareth I’d have tossed her right out of the carriage and told her to have fun being raped by Simon and his cronies. Wow, I’m beginning to hate all these heroines who act like bitches and we’re supposed to just love them because they’re so strong and brave. YUCK. Every book is like the last anymore. A hero who’s a great guy and a heroine who’s a complete and total a$$. I hate, hate, hate so much angst and misunderstandings. Especially the misunderstandings, they’re the worst part of ANY book. And if you can’t trust and believe in him then don’t try to convince us you love him.

Oh, and then Jane had another TSTL moment when she was going to marry Liam and pass Gareth’s baby off as his so she wouldn’t trap Gareth into a marriage he didn’t want. Huh?

Anyway, I was glad when it finally ended. There was some really nice sexual tension in this book and well written sex but overall it was not a real good read. However, this book would not keep me from reading this author again.

The story itself was good but Jane was just too stupid through most of the book.

I love the first book in this series but this one, not so much.

This is am exceptional read. Starting was captivating and ending was perfect. Although in the middle it seemed to drag for a while but overall it is good. Plot and characters are well written. I'd definitely recommend this book to all historical romance lovers.
Gareth Ramsey is a spy. He is supposed to be on a secret mission but Lady Jane Stanwell keeps distracting him. She is a widow in search of a lover, she seeks adventure and pleasure. Gareth is more than willing to fulfill Lady's desires but his duty is standing in the way. There is instant attraction between the two. But they are reluctant to trust each other. This book has it all, romance, intrigue, adventure and a little mystery. I really liked reading it.

P.S. I received a complimentary copy of this book for which I thank the publisher.

At the Spy’s Pleasure is my first book from this author and I enjoyed this historical offering from Entangled. A simple tale at first that becomes more intriguing and interesting by the chapter as the author takes us to 1821, where a woman is determined to live life to the fullest with out commitment and love. A typical situation but the author gives us a story that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Jane has paid the price and has done her duty of being married. Now a widow she can’t bear to be reminded how much her marriage and husband’s death affected her. It is bad enough the ton won’t forget in a hurry. It is even worse that her husband didn’t do his duty to her and was more interested in gambling and horses. The worst bit was that the fact that her husband committed suicide and the ton believes she was some way responsible for his death. Now she just seeks her own chance a little bit of happiness, thinking that with everything that has happened is a her life sentence.

Jane has been through a lot and now after a couple of years of her husband’s death she decided to take charge of her own life. It is perfectly alright for a widow to seek out a male companion and she has come up with a list of men who will be the perfect discrete partners to have a liaison or two with. Jane simply wants to have a sense of passion in her life and she is desperately hoping that a lover will fulfil. She doesn’t want much, however we all know what happens when a lady takes a lover. It never seems to work out the way they hoped.

It seem perfect in theory, Jane doesn’t count on Gareth Ramsey who decides to make himself part of her life and steals a kiss from her. Invoking responses she thought she had long buried, a man she left off her list because of his reputation. However she doesn’t know the real Gareth, a man who is on a mission.

An arrogant barrister and disowned son of a Baron, Gareth Ramsey tackles the ton’s dirty problems. Helping disillusioned husbands divorce their wives. It is a job he has come to accept as a cover for his side job, a spy of the majesty. And as a spy he needs to be on the list as it is the only logical way to investigate a suspect who Jane’s considering as a lover. A man who Gareth would rather be gone as he wants her for herself and is not under any illusions . Despite appearances it seems there more to this barrister then most people see and the author slowly draws these two out as they wager a war of worlds to hide their truth thoughts and their secrets.

Though on different missions, it soon comes apparent that Jane’s and Gareth’s lives are about to thrown together, whether Jane likes it or not. She gotten under Gareth’s skin and he doesn’t want to let go of her in hurry. . From the moment they first met in the book, you can see that Gareth is attracted to Jane and is willing to risk everything in order to get the best of both worlds. He willing to give her the passion, she desperate seeks after doing duty. A strong character, Jane knows that she will be satisfied with someone with the same needs, nothing more , nothing less.

She can’t accept anything more not after learning hard truths in her marriage. She must live out her life as widow, however fates has very different ideas.

If you love a bit of intrigue with your historical, check this book out. It a power of wills with this love story and we watch them fall in love, you get a sense that Gareth has a stronger will and is determined to get his way. It a clear cut with the characters. The author writes such distinguished characters that you can easily fall in love with this book and enjoy her prose.

That why I give it 4.5 couples

Jane, Lady Stanwell, is finally out of mourning and is looking for a lover, but it is not an easy feat. Her husband's suicide has tainted Jane, and has given her a reputation among the lords and ladies of the Ton. Men would be wise to stay clear of her, whose husband chose to end his life over a horse than to continue living with his wife. She's only looking for pleasure, with no commitments -- and she's narrowed her list down to one man, Simon Marbury.

Barrister by day, spy by night, Gareth Ramsey has been tasked to shadow Simon Marbury over suspicions that his family's foundry is manufacturing faulty cannons, which has resulted in countless injuries and death among British soldiers -- but the assignment develops an unfortunate complication when Gareth meets Jane, and discovers that he wants to be the one she chooses as her lover.

"Don't you feel it?"

"Feel what?"

"The attraction. Don't tell me you didn't enjoy our kiss last night."

A tingling began in the pit of her stomach. She shook her head in denial. "I did not."

"Liar."

I liked Gareth, and the author really nailed the alpha male type perfectly. I enjoyed reading how assertive and take-charge he is. I love how confident and brazen he is, but he doesn't just barrel into any situation without considering matters. I thought he handled the mortifying situation of discovering Jane's list (with the names of potential lovers) with tact and sensitivity. I thought he made an interesting riddle: how is a barrister like a spy? Both are concerned with justice and the law, and both have a tendency to blur the lines of right and wrong -- where the end justifies to means. It's already a difficult "double life" for Gareth -- and now he has to deal with another dilemma: does the need of the one (Jane) outweigh the need of the many (his investigation into the faulty cannons)?

I thought Jane had bitten off more than she could chew with her decision to find a lover -- she chose Simon Marbury, believing that he is a dandy and nothing more -- but quickly realises that there's more to Simon than she could manage. She makes the same misjudgement with Gareth -- seeing only what's on the surface and not delving deeper. But, what's great about Jane, is that she is a fast learner -- and she doesn't allow herself to get trapped into an unwanted situation. She handled Simon's advances very well and was also very clear in what she wanted in her liaison with Gareth.

The story progresses in 2 prongs: the development of the love story, and Gareth's spy mission -- and Tina Gabrielle does a very good job of seamlessly moving these 2 stories together. I haven't read the first book in the series, but Robert Ware, the hero of the first book appears in Gareth's story. I liked the juxtaposition between Robert, Gareth and Daniel, a fellow spy -- Robert is newly-married and his decisions and actions are informed by his new situation. Gareth is slowly forming an attachment with Jane, and one could see how this is affecting his work -- both in a good and bad way. Daniel doesn't seem to be in any lasting relationship, and his words and actions are very telling: the work comes first. Nothing is more important than the work. I love how the author showed how one event could elicit very different reactions from people in different situations: from the one with nothing to lose, the one with something to lose, and the one with everything to lose. (Read Chapter 11)

That being said, I thought At the Spy's Pleasure read very well as a stand-alone. I will be reading Robert's book soon, though, because I'm very curious.

At the Spy's Pleasure is the second book in The Crown's Secret Service series and will be released on May 26.

This is the second book in the fabulous, In the Crown Secret Service series, and I’m loving it. Each book can be read as a standalone.
This book takes you on a journey into the past, during a time of dashing men and women in beautiful gowns, where dark deeds lie hidden behind a smile and danger lurks in the greed hidden behind a charming façade. Where a few good men must do what is necessary to protect Crown and Country, even if it means, becoming the lover of a woman who can disrupt his orderly life and make a mission that should be simple, become ever so much more dangerous.
The chemistry sparking between Gareth and Jane is practically combustible. Gareth tries to convince her to take a chance at the fire between them, after all neither of them wants anything other than passion. But will secrets and the dangerous mission, Gareth is on, keep them apart?

Opening Scene:

June 10, 1821 London
Tonight I will find a lover.

Jane’s pulse skittered with excitement as she stepped into the glittering ballroom.

The Review:

The widow Jane, Countess of Stanwell, has decided she has been denied a satisfying lover, after years of being ignored by her, now, deceased husband. A selfish man who preferred to ignore his young wife, for the pleasure found in gambling. Not knowing how to find a suitable lover, she does the logical thing; she gathers a list of eligible candidates. This list does not include the dangerously handsome (if far too arrogant) Gareth Ramsey. Until he steals from her a sinful from her more than willing lips.
Reputed as an arrogant barrister, Gareth’s real occupation is as a spy in His Majesty’s Service, and his suspect is on Jane’s list of possible lovers. With her life in danger, the only safe place for Jane is with him, and in his bed. But the infuriating woman is a complete distraction, and keeping her by his side while he’s in pursuit of his mission, might just put both their lives in danger.

Notable Scene:

He may be the most masculine man she knew, but he was too intense, and instinct told her that he was not a man to be trifled with. A woman could easily lose control of an affair with Gareth Ramsey.
And that wasn’t at all what she wanted.
She’d be far better off with the Simon Marburys of the ton.
Gareth took a step closer and Jane was suddenly nervous. She could smell his cologne, sandalwood and bergamot, and feel his black eyes taking in her features.
“I must return,” Jane said.
“Why so soon after your mad flight?”
She refused to allow him to bait her. “There is to be a champagne toast to the future happiness of the engaged couple.”
“Ah, and you’re eager to participate?” he asked, noting her interest on the dance floor.
She shrugged. “Yes, of course. They are fortunate to have found true love.”
Gareth scoffed. “Come now, my lady. Only fools believe in true love.”
Her gaze narrowed. “Are you calling me a fool?”
“It depends,” he drawled.

This is book 2 in the Crown's Secret Service series.

After years of marriage to a selfish gambler, Jane, the widowed countess of Stanwell is ready to take a lover. She has made a list of candidates and is slowly making her decision. When Gareth Ramsey gets ahold of her list, he asks her to put his name on it.

Gareth has been attracted to Jane since the first time he saw her. Working for the home office doesn't give him time for a wife, but a lover, he has time for. Getting close to Jane is part of the job, her list includes a man he is investigating, but it definitely has it's perks.

But what happens when Gareth's lust for Jane turns into something much stronger? Jane is tired of men lying to her and Gareth's whole life is a lie. Can he save what they started?

Loved this story. I've been reading a lot of stories lately that include the male or female lead as a spy. I think that element just adds to the overall enjoyment of the story.

Seeing the tension between Jane and Gareth in the first book in the series, A Spy Unmasked, I had hoped that Gabrielle would pair them up for this story. I was not disappointed! The banter between the H/H is masterful and is always a plus (something that is always a favorite in my book!)

I can't wait to see what Gabrielle has in store for us next!!

Thanks go out to Entangled Publishing via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

This is my first book to read by Tina Gabrielle. I enjoyed it very much and want to go back to read the first one in this series. But I loved Gareth Ramsey. He was very self-confident and was very good with his words. He was direct, passionate and protective. Jane was a spitfire of a character. She did not let the suicide of her husband destroy her. She found her confidence and did not settle. By the end of the book, she was a character worth her salt.

I enjoyed the secondary characters as much as I did Gareth and Jane. Her Aunt Eleanor was a hoot. Her knowing eyes and her meddling made me smile and laugh. Her friend Olivia was a very sweet and true friend. And I am hoping for a book for Gareth's friend Daniel.

This is the first book by Tina Gabrielle's I've read, and it won't be the last. I enjoyed reading this romance, the characters are warm, intelligent, sexy, the story is original and exciting, and was hard to put down once I began reading. I look forward to reading book one in this series, and I hope you read this book and enjoy it as much as I did. This is the story about a spy who sets his sights on saving the lady from, well, herself. Jane, a widow, is determined to find a lover. She's made a list of eligible men, however, Gareth gets his hands on her list, and is determined he will be Jane's lover. Now the chase is on, and Jane can't fight her attraction for Gareth, and she finds herself in the middle of his investigation of another of her potential lover's.

Sexy and charming historical romance.

I love the way it starts: with Jane, our widowed heroine, making a list of potential lovers who will entertain her in bed, with no strings attached. Gareth, our hero, is a spy and his mission quickly becomes to move up to the top of Jane's list of potential lovers.

These two have loads of chemistry and Gabrielle seamlessly intertwines a clever spy plot that kept me guessing. If you enjoy your romance with chemistry and heat, with some intrigue thrown in, this is the book for you!

Highly recommend!

Second in the series, second being just "okay", with the back & forth pros & cons, and potential to be better. I like this review and can't remember enough about the book (only read it last week, but have read a couple other more memorable books since then) to add more.

At the Spy’s Pleasure is a historical romance that’s actually the second book of author Tina Gabrielle’s series, the Crown’s Secret Service, but if you haven’t read the first book, A Spy Unmasked, never fear. While this book does make mention of the heroes of that novel, Robert and Sophie, this is done in passing, and it won’t affect your enjoyment or understanding of this story. And it’s likely that you will enjoy it, if you have a love for the genre, as Jane and Gareth’s story is a delightfully sensual yet light-hearted romp through the Ton.

Jane has thrown off her mourning for her inveterate gambler of a husband who committed suicide two years back, and she’s determined to enjoy everything life as a widow in high society has to offer. After all, she’s endured a marriage without love or pleasure in or out of the marriage bed, so who can blame her for wanting to experience what she’s been missing while being a little gun shy of entering into yet another marriage? Unfortunately, she’s set her sights on a lord Gareth is currently investigating as part of his work as an agent of the Crown. Gareth met Jane when his best friend married her cousin, and while sparks fly between them, it’s been something both parties have resisted.

Until, that is, Gareth finds Jane’s list of potential lovers with his initials at the very bottom. Suddenly, he doesn’t just want his name to be at the top of her list, he wants it to be the only entry! Infuriatingly (or perhaps fortuitously, though the couple doesn’t know it yet), the bad guy’s name is on the list to and Gareth finds he has to split his attention between doing his job and keeping Jane from being drawn into Simon Marbury’s depravities.

This is a relatively short book and, as I mentioned, a light read, so I didn’t expect the characters to be overly complex, and I was quite glad that, while well-developed in the sense of motivations and consistency of personality, they were pretty straight forward. Gareth isn’t your typical lord or rakehell—in fact, he’s neither of those things. Jane has lived her entire life as a proper English lady, allowing others to make her choices for her, and now she’s determined to make her own way. Simon Marbury, on the other hand, is as callous and unethical in his seductions as he is in business dealings and is overdue for a comeuppance.

What I didn’t expect was for this novel to be as sizzling hot as it was! Jane’s introduction to the art of lovemaking is an enjoyable one for both character and reader, thanks to the skill of Gareth and Ms. Gabrielle.

I guess the only thing I would’ve wanted was a bit more intrigue—I was expecting there to be more of that when I saw there was to be some sort of espionage and investigation involved, and I was surprised that the villain was revealed right at the very beginning, without any twists as far as that plotline went. Plus, as a result of this, I thought of a couple of ways to resolve the matter between the two lovers earlier than they managed it. But I nevertheless was glad when Jane and Gareth got their HEA, having felt that they’d overcome enough misunderstandings and struggles to deserve it. (I’m very big on romantic couples earning their HEAs rather than having them handed to them.)

I also have to admit I’m pretty intrigued to find out what happens when Gareth’s friend Daniel falls in love—and I’ve decided that he must! I hope Gareth gives him a hard time, which is only as he deserves!

There is something so fun about reading a romance set in England in the 1800s. Perhaps because it was an era that is associated with love and romance, a fantastical time that probably wasn’t nearly as wonderful as we make it out to be. Even so, I fall easily into the ideas and sink into the story, wooed by the picture we portray. However, that’s only if it’s done correctly, and this book easily swept me away.
Jane has been dealt a rotten in hand in her life so far, with a husband who ignored her in favor of his gambling addiction, and the subsequent scandal he caused through his death, and then being ostracized by the society for his stupidity.
Luckily, widows are granted much more freedom in their life and Jane is determined to make the most of it. She doesn’t ever want to have her heart trampled again, or be trapped by marriage, but she does want to experience the passion she has read and heard about. So, she sets out to find herself a lover, making a list of possible candidates and actively pursuing her goal.
Gareth is the youngest son of a Barron, but has forged his own way in life by becoming a much desired Barrister. Unbeknownst to society, he is also a spy for the crown. His newest assignment is to uncover the source of faulty weaponry being sold to the military. Through sheer happenstance, he runs into Jane and discovers her list, noticing that his prime suspect in at the top.
He pursues her, she runs, sparks erupt, and an explosion ensues!
Jane and Gareth both have strong personalities, which cause some clashing at times. But, their smart banter only fuels the attraction between them. I loved watching their relationship grow, the sexual tension strings the pages tightly together. Even more though, I enjoyed the way they easily fell into a friendship of sorts, outside the bedroom. Enjoying each other’s company and engaging in intelligent conversations and getting to know each other. Without that element, the couple would have fallen rather flat. I wouldn’t have believed it when their feelings began to become involved.
The secondary characters really make the story. I love Jane and Gareth, but without Olivia, David, and Jane’s aunt, it would have lost some of its fun and flare. They really helped move the plot along and put a smile on my face several times.
The premise of the story is interesting, though there’s not much in the way of plots twists and action (with the exception of a couple of hot boxing scenes), and it’s actually quite predictable. However, it still kept my attention and had me eager to see exactly how the events would unfold, even if I was sure where the story was going.
This book is well written in general, but kudos to the author for keeping to the time period and not modernizing it, which would have broken my concentration and made the story hard to get into.
I truly enjoyed reading At the Spy’s Pleasure. It’s not a re-read for me, but I highly recommend it.

The first I have read from Tina Gabrielle, and I’m wondering just how I missed her books, but am pleased to be offered the opportunity to read At the Spy’s Pleasure, the second in her In the Crown’s Secret Service historic romance series. This book did not require that I had read the first in the series, but you will want to grab that title simply to stay in the world Gabrielle has created.

Set in 1821 London, Jane has decided to strike out on her own and find a lover. Her marriage was wholly unsatisfactory to a selfish man with gambling as his first love, his death by suicide allowed her some freedom of movement heretofore denied. Yes, there were wagging tongues nastily accusing her of being at fault in her late husband’s choices, but that just stirs Jane to further action. She compiles a list of potential candidates to fill the position of lover, and sets out to make her enquiries.

Gareth Ramsey is most notable for NOT being on Jane’s List. She shied away from the arrogant barrister, whose countenance is far too handsome. Until Gareth gets wind of her ‘list’ and discovers that a person he is targeting in his true occupation as a spy for the Crown is a contender. The flirtation and stolen kiss to sway Jane to adding him to her list starts a lovely interplay between the two: both determined to NOT fall in love or become attached.

Both of these characters have deep wounds and secrets, Gareth’s are a bit more obvious, but Jane’s solid sense of self and her strong friendships with Olivia and her Aunt give her added confidence in her own choices: she’s survived the worst, what can a dalliance with Gareth do to her? They truly are made for one another, if only the secrets that they have concealed won’t tear them apart. With plenty of tension, action and out of the world chemistry between them, this story was a lovely diversion and I read it through in one sitting. Certainly enough to add the first book in the series (A Spy Unmasked) to my ever-growing slush pile of titles to read, and one that puts Tina Gabrielle firmly on my shelf of authors to watch.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

For a romantic novel I think the author is off to a wonderful and an exciting start with this book. I immensely enjoyed the overly romantic plot as well as the characters. Still, I did feel like something was missing that I cannot quite put my finger {or should I say my eyes} on the mysterious extra. This could be strictly from the fact that I have not read the previous book in this series. Although I did not get lost while reading this book I always like to start at the beginning to better understand both series and author.

Moving onto what I loved about this book. Naturally it was the romance. It was splendid and worthy of blushing over. I loved both Jane and Gareth's chemistry from the start! From the moment of my introduction I knew I was going to like this couple and the author did not let me down. So the romance is highly entertaining in this book and if you are a romantic you will love this book.

The plot was smooth sailing as well. I enjoyed uncovering a few secrets along the way and I thought the author's writing style was highly skilled. It is so great to see an author have a talent like Gabrielle when it comes to telling a unique story such as At the Spy's Pleasure and I can honestly say that the author never missed a single step when penning this novel.

Since the only fault I had with this book was feeling like something was missing and it's entirely mine own opinion, I'm going to encourage everyone to read this book. As for myself I plan to read the first book of the series soon so that I can have a better feel for both book and of author and that will probably make the fault of this book fade away.

One way or another my first intro to Gabrielle as an author certainly has my attention and overall I'm more than satisfied by what I discovered.

Set in 1821, London, this story 'stars' Jane, the widowed Countess of Stanwell. She’s always been ‘good’ and done as she’s told. First following her family’s instructions, including who she should marry, and then having years of marriage to a man who preferred horses and gambling to his young wife before he committed suicide. Now, after two years of mourning, she’s ready to live for herself - starting with finding herself a satisfactory lover. She consults her friend and together they make a list of possible candidates…. though she only puts the initials of the man she’s most attracted too, Gareth Ramsey.

Gareth Ramsey is the second son of an Earl and a barrister famed for helping rich husbands divorce their wives. Secretly he’s also a spy in His Majesty’s service and he finds that the suspect he is currently investigating is on Jane’s list of possible lovers. He finds he is also disturbed to find he’s not top of the list! Neither wants marriage or commitment but, with her reputation and life in danger, their attraction so strong, will they be able to resist each other?

With a feisty, independent but naive female lead, an alpha, arrogant, ‘determined not to succumb’ male lead and a crime to be uncovered this is a great read. The author makes it easy to relate to and empathise with the characters. Gareth’s undercover spy work and his determination to keep Jane safe add to the mix, making this a book I have no hesitation in recommending. You do not need to read any other books in this series to enjoy this one - but you may, like me, be tempted to do so!

Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this book - but I didn't love it. The book is well written and well paced - although it wrapped a bit too quickly at the end - however, I do appreciate the author not dragging out the heartache.

I really liked Gareth, our hero. He is a barrister and a spy for the crown. He says he is no a gentleman - but actions speak louder than words. He is honorable and has a good heart. He falls in love with Jane - but doesn't want to admit it. He also is keeping secrets from her and it weighs heavily on him.

I really liked Jane until the end of the book. She has not had an easy time since her husband died. She has finally decided to start living again and wants to take a lover. She makes a list and sets out to get her man, Simon Marbury. Who also happens to be the man Gareth is tasked with spying on.

Simon is not a good man and Gareth doesn't want Jane anywhere near him. He convinces Jane to be his lover and the two start a very heated passionate affair.

Things come to a head when Jane catches Gareth going through Simon's desk and demands that he tell her what he is doing. He is unable to tell her and she cuts all ties with him, because she can't be with a man who lies like her late husband did.

A twist in the plot near the end of the book made me lose all respect for Jane - she becomes what she accuses Gareth of being - only worse.

In my opinion she doesn't redeem herself. But we do get a HEA and a very sweet epilogue. As much as I dislike what Jane did at the end - I never doubted the love between these two. I liked the book and would recommend it. And I look forward to the final book in the series.

Jane, the widowed Countess of Stanwell has been in mourning for her husband for 2 years but has finally decided to rejoin society even after the scandal of her husband’s suicide - he shot himself after his prized stallion lost a race. After suffering an unhappy marriage with a husband who never loved her but only cared for gambling, Jane wants to savour life & find an uncomplicated lover who will give her pleasure after years of being lonely & starved of affection in her marriage.

Gareth Ramsey is the youngest son of a Baron, a successful barrister and also a spy for the crown. His latest assignment has him investigating a man whom Jane has earmarked for her lover. When he finds Jane list of "Possible Candidates for Lovers" he's both alarmed that his mark is on her list and aggrieved that he himself is at the bottom of the list!

I was initially a bit put off with the idea of a heroine looking for a lover but Jane’s character was well written & I could sympathize with her reasons. She’s initially somewhat antagonized by Gareth’s extreme masculinity but his powerful maleness quickly becomes a point of attraction instead (not surprisingly!).

Gareth has never been one for lasting relationships but he cannot help but be charmed by Jane’s combination of innocence and passion. I liked how both of them worm their way under each other’s skins & their chemistry is quite potent *smirks*. If you object to pre marital sex then be warned that their relationship goes in that direction quite early on as both are adamant at the beginning of having an affair only. The love scenes are well written & fit in with the storyline.

A quick easy read tho some of the language was a bit modern & a bit abrupt it was still enjoyable.

After A Spy Unmasked, I was really looking forward to this book, especially after reading the blurb but unfortunately, Jane ruined it for me.

I found Jane to be willfully naive and intentionally ignorant, and when she got over that (many thanks to Gareth!) she became stuck in the past and intent on protecting herself without giving Gareth the benefit of the doubt. To make matters worse, when she found herself in a rather awkward situation, rather than coming forward and telling Gareth the truth in dealing with the matter, she decided to go down the path of deceiving another man in a misguided attempt at being noble and giving Gareth what she thinks he wants. She refuses to communicate with him, shutting him out rather than allow him to work things out with her. All of this annoyed the living daylights out of me.

Aside from thoroughly disliking Jane, the story was well written and the mystery though not quite as intriguing as in A Spy Unmasked, was interesting to read about.

I loved how much of a brute and alpha male Gareth is. Ms Gabrielle managed to make him thoroughly alpha even in a Regency setting. There are moments when I wanted to shake Gareth and tell him to come out of his stubborn misconceptions of what love and relationships were all about and just admit what we could all so plainly see. That might have helped things along the way with Jane too. Sometimes a guy just needs a good shake to get some sense into him. :-)

Overall though, I am enjoying the series because I love Regency spy stories. If there's a third book, which I think there will be, probably Daniel's book, I'm all over it.

This was a wonderful story. It was about a character, Jane who recently becomes widow . Her husband committed suicide over his prized horse. She meets Gareth and becomes entangled with him and his mission. I truly found it captivating, It followed the story line and the characters were fascinating.
Olivia was the best friend to Jane and in my opinion was a great installment and played a great part in this story. Another character character was the Aunt to Jane that played a great part in the story. I found them both charming and witty. I absolutely loved the friendship between Olivia and Jane and how they cared for each other. Also how they stuck up for each other. Jane was a perfect character for the main character. She was well written and very witty. I love how she stuck up for herself and wanted to write her own story. After everything that she had been through she deserved to be happy. I absolutely fell in love with this character. I also loved the dance between her and Gareth.
Gareth was another character and was almost identical to Jane. They were great for each other. They needed each other to help heal the wounds of the past. So therefore, I choosing to give this story 5 stars. I recommend anyone that loves a good romance. I also look forward to reading more from this author.

Jane, the widowed countess of Stanwell, has decided that she is entitled to live her life to the fullest. She's going to take a lover. She hasn't know marital happiness. Her late husband was a gambler who had no time for her. Now she has her chance. Jane is a contradiction. She's both innocent and reckless. I liked her zest for life. Unfortunately some of her decisions were not the best. When she meets Gareth Ramsey, she's drawn to him. He exudes power and confidence. He's a barrister with secrets. No one knows that he's an agent of the crown and is working on a case. He finds Jane addictive but he won't commit because of his dangerous profession. I enjoyed the battle of wills between these two. The sparks fly when they are near each other. He cares for her and will protect her when she becomes entangled with his target. Their romance was passionate and made me want them to get their HEA despite all the obstacles.Tina Gabrielle did an excellent job. She wrote a passionate story filled with danger and intrigue. The setting was perfect for romance and the secondary characters were excellent. I couldn't put down At The Spy's Pleasure. I 'm hooked on this series and am looking forward to more books for me to enjoy.

Gareth Ramsey was born into the aristocracy but has had to make his own living... as a divorce lawyer helping men dispose of their wives. His job alone has made him cynical towards love but add into his dangerous side gig as a spy and he is about the least likely person to marry. Jane, widowed for two years, has decided that the marriage game just isn't for her either and is now in the market for a lover. As Jane becomes unknowingly entangled in one of Gareth's spy missions, the sparks and emotions fly. For some reason, I find Gareth's occupation as a divorce lawyer hilarious and that really made this novel more interesting to me. I liked the characters and thought their chemistry came across very well on the page. The ending seemed oddly rushed but overall I thoroughly enjoyed this historical romance novel. I received an electronic galley of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Fast paced tale of spies, passion, mystery, suspense and romance. The characters are likeable, believable, engaging and endearing. The storyline is unique, intense at times, well written and intriguing. I enjoyed hope the H/H are passionate, lovable and how their love grew into their HEA.
Fans of Historical Romance, intrigue, dust and romance are bound to enjoy "At the Spy's Pleasure". While, this is Book 2 in "The Crown's Secret Service", it can be read as a stand alone. Well written Historical Romance with spyies, secrets, treason and romance. Waiting impatiently for the next installment.

This is the first book I have read by Tina Gabrielle and I find that I loved this one so much that I am getting her others. This is the second in a series "In the Crown Secret Service" I found that you didn't have to read the books in order to enjoy them.. so if you are like me reading them out of order don't worry. The heroine is a widowed named Jane, Countess of Stanwell.. Jane has had a bad marriage and takes it into her head to find out what she has been missing from her marriage bed. There enters a hero Gareth Ramsey who is a undercover spy. Jane list of possible lovers has name on it! Gareth is also trying to protect Jane so their is a mystery in this story. I also like the secondary charters in this book and would recommend this book!

I loved this book even more than the first one. The characters are extremely likeable, and their chemistry sizzles right off the page. I liked that, though they were immediately attracted to each other, they didn't fall into bed right off the bat. Much more realistic and true to the times.

The author paid great attention to detail, yet the reader is not bogged down by pages of description. The story flowed page after page, carrying me along much later into the night than I intended to read!

I greatly look forward to the next installment of Ms. Gabrielle's Spy series!

4.5 stars!!
After two years, it's time to put away the Widow's Weeds...and as a widow Jane, Lady Stanwell has decided to make a list. A list of eligible men of the Ton that she could entice in an affair. Little did she know what she was getting herself into, both with the gentleman she chose and a gentlemen whose name she dared not put ink to paper!

This story started out a little slowly for me but gradually picked up the pace until I was turning pages quickly to see how it all came out. Every time I thought I had a sense of what was going to happen, it went in a slightly different direction. Since this is the first I've read by this author, I'm going back for the first in this series, A Spy Unmasked.
