She’s determined to find out what he’s really like before she reveals who she is, and she enlists her friend Viv to help. When she was in kindergarten, Suzanne Nelson jotted down in a school keepsake album that she wanted to be a “riter.” Though she clearly had issues with spelling, she persisted, composing cryptic poems about rainbows, fairies, mud, and even "Star Wars" in spiral notebooks all through elementary school. When she was seventeen, she filled four journals with her handwritten first novel, titled “The Dream Keeper.” To escape her chores, she often lied to her parents about what time her shift started at the local fast food joint so that she could spend an extra hour writing in the parking lot in her mom’s faded Buick. Her first published novel was The Sound of Munich, followed by Heart and Salsa, The Ghoul Next Door, Cake Pop Crush, and Dead in the Water. She is a shameless fan of “The Sound of Music,” Hershey’s kisses, Charlotte Bronte, and Jane Austen, and can often be caught daydreaming of romping about gothic castles in lovely Victorian gowns. She was born in New Jersey, grew up in Southern California, attended college in Texas, and spent eight years as a children’s book editor in New York City. She now lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut with her family.

Macarons at Midnight is one of the worst books I've ever read.

To start, I dislike how involved Lise was to make sure she found her "mystery boy." Her and her crush (Raj) met at a taste testing for a new macaron shop opening in the town, but he didn't know who she was because she dressed as a frog princess with a mask (she left a party that she was dragged to). So, the whole premise of the book was not only finding him (which happened early in the book) but seeing if she'd really like him. That leads to another thing.

Lise lied to the boy by having him believe that her new friend, Viv, was the one he talked with at the taste testing. And that eventually led to drama because Viv started to like him. *facepalm* I'm sorry, this is almost like Girl Meets World but on a terrible scale.

There were other things that I disliked including kissing (come on! They're in 8th grade *shakes my head*); the author dragging out the story by adding additional drama (things could've been resolved a lot sooner); and there was an argument that made zero sense.

I typically don't like to "beat up" books in that sense, but to be honest, this was a waste of time. I only finished it because I was curious to see how Lise would tell Raj that she was the one he met at the macaron shop. However, this book was just pointless and thus, I honestly wouldn't recommend it.

In this book of a girl , Lise Santos , she finds out her world is going to turn in a different direction one night on valentines day . I didn’t really like the plot of this story because she shouldn’t have tricked someone to fall in love with someone else rather than the actual person . Since Lise doesn’t really know how she feels about when she meets Raj , her fling that she had one night on Valentines day at a bakery . I think she is to stubborn to think that she likes him and she doesn’t want to admit to him who she is after they were about to kiss that one night . I think Lise is having a hard time trying to fit in with his dads new family . I have to admit it might be tough for your parents to split up and have new families but she should at least give them a chance . But , it is somewhat hard for Lise to make friends with her step sister when her sister wants nothing to do with her . It is named “ Macarons at Midnight “ for a special event for Lise that had happened on Valentines day .

In my opinion since i started reading this romance of a girl searching for her prince charming everywhere and having a plot twist with her new best friend is that it is kind of dumb for her to think that she is in love with a guy that she had met one night . But honestly I would kind of understand if I was in that situation of trying to find a guy that i had really liked . I think i can somehow relate to her in a way since she is in middle school and has liked a guy . I had expected her to fall for her other guy friend Kyan , which had always been by her side when she was searching for him and he kept cheering her on . I expected to create a special connection since they seem friendly to each other , but Lise likes Raj and Kyan likes Viv , Lise’s new best friend . I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know about plot twists and surprises about romance . I think that my favorite genre is either Romance or Horror.

I really liked this book. It is about a girl named Lise and her parents got divorced and her mom is going to Switzerland but she can not come with so she has to stay with her dad. She goes to a Valentines day party one night but does not stay and she goes down the block to Swoonful of Sugar. And she meets a boy that she likes but when she leaves she doesn't know anything about him so she trys to find him. Does this story end in happily ever after you have to find out.

I really really really liked this book! The book was excellent and I couldn't put it it down! I love how her relationships with her step family, friends, and boys changes throughout the book! I only did not like that the book ended and didn't explain so much that happens after! Excellent book and was well written!

Macarons At Midnight is a book about a girl named Lise. She goes to this party with her sister that she really isn't into. So she takes a walk and finds herself in to a bakery’s midnight taste test. A mystery boy joins her to eat. Lise Taken a liking to this boy but she does not know his name. So it is her mission to to find the mystery boy. When she finds out who he is, he isn't like how she first met him. They get to know each other and they are the opposite of each other. And when she backs off, her friend Viv stats to take interest in him. Now Lise has to speak up and admit her feelings. Can she do it?
I rate this book 5 out of 5 because it was one of the best books have read. It's like a modern take on a cinderella tale with a twist. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I could never put it down. It had emotion, mystery, and suspense.

This is literally brain candy-- the kind of can't get enough sweetness that makes you throw all of your cares out the window and concentrate on the crazy sweet middle grade years when anything and everything is possible, scheming is necessary, hormones are all out of whack, and you'd do anything for love.

Lise meets a mysterious artistic boy at a new French bakery pre-opening and shares a magical moment in her Frog Princess masquerade attire. They part ways without getting names and the hunt is on until their first actual meeting in the light of day is anything but stellar and a swap ensues for Lise to figure out the real boy. She's also navigating her living situation-- sharing a bedroom with a stepsister at her father and stepmother's house while her mother is in Switzerland with her stepfather. Totally painful enough when she feels like she's not entirely welcomed and loved. It's the classic tumultuousness but it's so sweet and tantalizing if a little extreme at times, but what we wouldn't do for love.

"One thing about Swoonful of Sugar is certain. The macarons are as sweet as a crush, and as magical as a midnight, moonlit kiss."

Macarons at Midnight by Suzanne Nelson is a really good book. A girl named Lise Santos tells the story. Lise moved in with her Step mom, Step sister, and her Dad. Lise and her step sister hate each other. They are a year younger from each other. Her step sister Destry has to take her half sister with her to a party. When Lise is at the party and hates it she decides to go walk around the city. She finds this special place with pastries that has not opened yet. Lise sees a guy. They are both disguised though. When Lise has to leave because its past twelve her dad is really mad at her. She was about to tell the guy what her name was but then she had to leave.

This book reminds me a little bit of Princess and the frog and Cinderella. This is a really nice book on how the author puts the point of view as a teenager. This book is pretty easy to read in my opinion because it is a really interesting and I am so caught up in this book. The only thing that I don’t like about this book is because how the author ends it. Everyone wants to know what is going to happen next.

So this book was overall really sweet and romantic! It makes me think that one day I'll be able to find a great guy and live a fairy tale... Or at least it started with an evil sister and a guy who "swept" her up her feet *coughs* like a prince?

☁︎

Anyways, as it continued I just had so many questions! It kept me wondering what would happen. By the way I really can't tell if I hate this character (nicknamed Viv) because she was sweet, but sour at times... I know how she feels though! Like there are many cute and hot guys out there, but it's not JUST about how they look or whatever! Personality matters a whole lot more and I hope she realizes that while dating (SPOILER) Kyan! (I'm pretty sure she will learn so yayyyy.)

☁︎

I honestly would've given this 5 stars because it was a cute read that left me curious, but I felt that after all the trouble that happened the ending was just very rushed. Still though it was very wonderful and I do recommend it!

Like the all the books written by Suzanne Nelson, this book was very cheesy. It was pretty interesting though because of all the drama there was. I would recommend this book for people who want to be entertained with all this middle school drama. Like I said before, this book is very cheesy but fun to read. So I recommend it.

Such a cute middle grade read. I’m really enjoying the Wish series. This one had a bit of a Cyrano de Bergerac plotline. I also really enjoyed seeing the relationship with Lise’s stepfamily grow and change.

I hope I can find readers for this as I just purchased a few in the series for my school. But for me the writing is so clunky I am just giving myself a break and not finishing it.

Lise santos has gone to live with her dad for a while. so far it has not gone well, she hasn’t made any friends. she gets embarrassed at a party and somehow ends up in a bakery’s midnight taste test, where she meets a super cute boy. They have a sweet time but never get to exchange names. Lise is on the hunt to find again, but when she doe’s, he’s not what she thinks he was.

This was a really cute, romantic story about something that really happens in real life. It will make you feel bubbly but interested at the same time. I really like this story because its really nice and it doesn’t have anything bad and it makes you feel happy and colorful. the cover of the book really caught my attention and made me want to read it more. You can really relate to Lise and her step sister if you have one. Suzanne Nelson didn’t make the drama over the top just something that would happen in real life. I give this book 5 stars.

Well I have to say, the idea of the story is cute and reminded me of the indian movie ( Mujhse Dosti Karoge! ) but the execution wasn't that great .. Lise is such a drama queen for absolutely no reason at all #teamViv
the story is about Lise who was wearing a custom when she met the guy of her dreams, but later on when she meets him again she realizes that he is not so charming after all, so, in efforts to know him better she assigns her best friend Viv to "date" him so she knows him better .. and from there the drama begins
you see why I said she is a drama queen ? .. I have to say this was the least enjoyable book of the series so far

Love reading all about baking and cooking than you should read this book. This book was a series of the Cake Pop Crush. Lisa Santos has always loves baking and she is only in middle school. She has to get along with her step sister which they don't like each other that but they have to get along. But when she goes to a bakery at midnight she see the boy of her dreams but they never tell each other their name so they don't know who to tell to find each other again. This is a book for people who like a romantic book who wants one action and a lot of twists in the story.

Macarons at Midnight by Suzanne Nelson is an amazing story. As you read this page turner of a novel you will fall in love with the characters. This story has so many emotions sewn into the pages. Frustration when characters make "dumb" choices. Butterflies as characters fall in love. Once your finished reading this intriguing novel you will be asking for a second book. This book book is perfect for young readers, but would definitely be appealing for more mature readers as well.

I love teen story, simple yet enthralled. A story about a girl finding ways to fit with her new family hoped to be helped by making herself busy finding her artist. And shocked to find he so different from the night they met. Not any ordinary story as writer portray her model friend dislike being model. unusual right? I like this story.

This was a great book for those middle-aged students. The book did a great job of creating a modern day fairy-tale type story with a twist (in a middle school setting). I would recommend this book to students in those tween and early teen stages.
