Review from my 11 year old daughter:

In this volume, all the ponies are well drawn and have great stories that are true to their characters. Each also had a strong story arc and not just random vignette stories empty of a point.

The book has 4 stories:

In the first, Apple Jack's family meet up with Flim and Flam for the third time. Most of the family thought the pair rather shallow but Granny Smith saw their true worth.

In the second, Rainbow Dash helps Spitfire get over her nervousness with kids. It showed that she didn't have to completely change her attitude but she also had to learn to not always be her tough self and be nicer with the kids.

In the third, Iron Will learns to manage his anger issues with Fluttershy. She learns how to connect with him personally rather than using outside methods to help him see his softer side.

In the fourth, Twilight Sparkle helps Pinkie Pie overcome a bad habit (eating om noms). It shows how Twilight's logic isn't always the answer - especially with Pinkie Pie. It's about finding solutions with your heart as well your head.

The stories have a nice mix of humor and action (the second didn't have any humor but the third was all humor). The ponies get to solve different problems that take into account their personalities and individual needs. Although the art was different in each story, they did accurately show the ponies and so it wasn't distracting.

In all, very enjoyable and my daughter's favorite in the series.

As a kid I always loved to watch the original series of My Little Pony. I still several boxes full of them as I really liked to play with them as well. So, every time I see one of these on Netgalley, I'm very happy.

All the ponies are there once again, and if you like the tv-series you'll love these books as well. They are fun little stories, and ponies will save the day. After all, Friendship is Magic!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Ever wished for a Pony?

They are loved by kids, are models for cosplay and everyone knows them – The hoofed pets of My Little Pony!

My Thoughts / Meine Meinung

All the lovely Ponies are back in town!

In the third volume of "My little Pony: Friends Forever" you'll meet again your favorite colorful companions. Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie invite you to their funny and fluffy world.

I have to admit that this was my first "My little Pony" book but I really enjoyed it from the first page on.

This comic book is fully colored and has great drawings. Especially the facial expressions of the characters were depicted in a great way. Rainbow Dash's grumpy face made me really laugh.

The book itself is divided in four parts – each telling a unique story. The first one is centered around Granny and her hate/love relationship with the Flim Flam brothers. In the second story Fluttershy tries to carry out an anti-aggression training with the biggest bull in town – Iron Will. Will he be able to find his inner pony? Rainbow Dash, on the other hand, is totally excited when Wonderbolt Spitfire sends for her. But in the end she has to ask herself: Is someone KIDding her? In the last story Pinkie Pie tries to find the answer to the question: Can I has Nom? Hint: Better stay out of the way of all the PheNOMNOMenons.

All stories are perfect for young and old readers and even if you are new to MLP you'll have your fun with the cute and dorky ponies.

Die süßen Ponys sind zurück im Stall!

In Band 3 von "My Little Pony: Friends Forever" triffst du all deine liebsten farbenfrohen Freunde wieder.

My Rating / Fazit

I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read more stories about Shutterfly, Trixie, Applejack and all the other hoofed friends.

Ich empfehle dieses Buch gerne weiter und kann es gar nicht erwarten, noch mehr über Shutterflys, Trixies und Applejacks Welt zu erfahren.

**I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.**

I love My Little Pony. I think I put it on TV more for myself then Emma, and I am ok with that. I love the characters, the lessons and the wonderful candy coated world. I didn't however love this book. There are 4 stories collected in this comic and I only found one to be mildly good. I don't know if the characters and show just don't translate to the written word well or what, but I had a hard time swallowing this. I found the illustrations to be off from what I normally expect and have seen in comparison to other publications and franchise products. And to be honest the images from the last story with Pinkie Pie are incredibly jarring and disturbing. Not my favorite taste of PonyVille to say the least.

Same set-up as the first two book. Four stories that feature one (or two) of the Mane Six (Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie) as well as a side character (Iron Will, Spitfire). This one also included a story about Granny Smith and the Flim Flam Brothers, which I enjoyed. As much as I love the Mane Six, sometimes it's nice to see what the other characters are up to.

As with the other books, I prefer the art styles that are similar to the show (Tony Fleecs) and was really thrown off by the artists that used there own style for the characters (Jay Fosgitt's hardly even look like the characters and it drove me nuts).

Good stories, I liked the variety. Overall, another nice collection of stories for Pony fans.

I really wanted to like to this but it was just okay. The illustrations were a bit off and a couple of the stories were lame. I love Applejack, the Apples are one of my favorite parts of the show and their story was not good. The Rainbow Dash story and the Pikie Pie stories were pretty good but the Applejack and Fluttershy stories weren't that great. I asked one of the Bronies I know at work if he read these graphics and he said he didn't because he thought they were lame and didn't translate well. I thought he was being a harsh teenager but it looks like he was right. These are good for the little kids who need characters to learn to read but otherwise not great.

This collection is a very mixed bag. I enjoyed Pinkie Pies story most, less because of the story itself (which is cute but nothing overly special) but because of all the visual jokes that were in it. They really had me giggling madly because they were so silly but also so great. Fluttershy's story was fun as well but then Fluttershy is my favourite and I love everything she's in.
On the other hand I don't care that much about Rainbow Dash or Granny Smith so as the supporting characters in both stories were also some I feel mostly indifferent about (the Flim Flam brothers and Spitfire) I really wasn't overwhelmed by those.
Still a fun read overall.

If you've ever seen any of the "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" then you already know most of the characters in this comic. I have not watched the fourth season of the show so as long as you've seen the first few seasons you'll know how the story lines are for this comic. These comics are supplemental to the tv series so if you didn't get enough of them you can read these to find more of the adventures of Twilight Sparkle and her friends.

There are four issues in this volume, 9-12, and having not read the previous volumes I feel it's ok to read as a standalone as long as you've seen the show. The pacing is good for all the comics, although there is a different artist for each story (which isn't off putting, but is noticeable). I had no problems reading them. I did enjoy the particular expressions of one of the comics more than the others but they are all still very good and think the artists did a good job rendering the characters in their own styles.

I enjoyed each of the stories as they featured different story lines and sometimes characters. I think they were all well written and I had a great time reading them all. All the characters were spot on to the series and I could imagine their voices with no problems.

Definitely recommended to pick up if you're a Pony fan or want more of Twight Sparkle or her friends! They read similarly to episodes from the tv series so you won't be disappointed.

3.5 out of 5 rating for me.

Review originally seen on my blog Dee's Reads

I've read a lot of these MLP graphic novels. My reasons for reading them are really simple. I love the show and watch it regularly. I think the characters are cute and fun to watch, not to mention the "lessons" are inspiring (I don't think I'm "too mature" to learn from a kids show). Also, I love graphic novels.

My Little Pony has succeeded once again in proving to me that this is not just a great television show.

They updated and remade the show from the 80s into an extremely successful triumph. They have attracted thousands of people who are adults (i.e. google "bronies") and this graphic novel venture is, in my opinion, a success.

It's hard to have a television show (cartoon) and create a graphic novel that makes the reader feel like they're reading something entertaining, true to the show, and most of all—has something different that you don't really get on the screen. That "something" can really be anything—a wisp of something or a concrete difference. Like, pairing different characters together in situations you wouldn't see on the show.

The latter is what they did with the past few graphic novels and I really love that. This graphic novel had some really cute stories. I loved the one with Rainbow Dash teaching the little phillies (oh they were so CUTE) We got to see a side to Rainbow Dash that we don't normally see in the show. She was kind of…maternal (:o) But it worked, and I ate that ish up.

I have to say that this is the best volume of My Little Pony graphic novels that I have read so far. If you have read them but feel like maybe skipping it because "they're all the same?" DO NOT do that! I almost did and I am so glad I didn't because it was a great read.

It lifted me up and felt so light and fun — I really needed this read during my stressful week.

*I received this book as an eARC from Diamond Book Distributors via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Like the other My Little Pony comic books, this graphic novel is made up of a few smaller stories. Each story focuses on one of the ponies. The thing that I like about MLPFIM is the way they are able to teach good lessons in an entertaining way with subtle pop culture nods that only older folk will get.

The first story is about Apple Con. Applejack and her family are heading to this Comic-Con-like convention to sell their apples. There are many great comparisons, especially from Granny. Orange and berry growers now attend the convention and it's just not the same as it used to be. There are also some Music Man references in this story.

In the second story, Iron Will has come in search of Fluttershy for some help with his family. This tale shows the need of patience, kindness, and generosity.

Rainbow Dash has a secret mission from Spitfire of the Wonderbolts. She learsn that even your heroes can have flaws.

Pinkie Pie asks for Twilight Sparkles's help in avoiding her food nemesis, PheNOMNOMenons. This story is about breaking habits. I liked all the interesting food carts in this one.

Overall, these tales are pretty great. They all teach lessons in fun and interesting ways. I highly recommend this to young fans of the show. If your child or relative is a fan, this or any of the other My Little Pony comics would be a great way to introduce a love for reading and/or comic books. I give this graphic novel a 4/5.

My Little Pony: Friends Forever Volume 3 [Graphic Novel]

Barbara Randall Kesel (Author), Jay P. Fosgitt (Author), Ted Anderson (Author), Tony Fleecs (Author), Agnes Garbowska (Corporate Author)

Paperback: 104 pages

Publisher: IDW Publishing (March 17, 2015)
Grades 1-4

I saw this on Netgalley, and requested it.

I have a My Little Pony fan-girl who loves these graphic novels and so I was excited both to read it and to see how she would like it.

She Loved it, reading it all in one sitting. This was a fun book. As always, MLP deliveries great drawings, funny stories with a good lesson on friendship and getting along, in a way that never talks down to the reader while still being age appropriate.

The book is several stories of varying length linked more by main title than any continuous story that reminds me of the television series. There is a main story, then several smaller ones all centering around one or two of the show’ main cast: Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Cutiemark Crusaders.

What is fun about the television series and the book is how stories can be read at many levels and still enjoyed. There were parts of the book I know my daughter did not understand but I found wonderfully clever. And I saw her giggling at several parts and grinning the whole time. Her favorite story was the Minotaur learning lessons in kindness from Fluttershy. These graphic novels are always in demand at our library, and at book fairs. So if you have a fan of My Little Pony at your house, this is a very good choice.

I love the ponies, I think they are cute and each of them have fun personalities. This volume collected issues 9-12, which I have not read before, nor have I read the previous volumes/issues. I have watched all of the pony episodes though so I know about many of the characters that made cameos in these tales. We get four stories and almost all the ponies in this volume, all but Rarity who only has a very small part in these tales.

Granny and the Flim Flam Brothers is about family sticking together and was a lesson that everyone should read about all the time. Fluttershy helping others is the norm for her story, but it was done in an adorable way - with Iron Will a minotaur who is overly aggressive. Rainbow Dash's story was about finding your strengths and acknowledging that it is possible for great people or ponies, to have weaknesses as well. And lastly, Pinkie Pie's tale was about friendship and self control - her tale was the funniest, but it is Pinkie and she is always a spazz waiting for a good laugh.

The illustrations in this volume were all wonderful and vibrant and I think any My Little Pony lover will enjoy this compilation.

As of recently I've gotten deeper and deeper into the My Little Pony fever while watching it through Netflix, plus whenever it shows in Discovery Kids while taking care of my nephew.

This volume includes a series of four stories, featuring as the main characters of each story with Grannny, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Twilight Sparkle.

It was all fun to read and, like the animated series, it gives a lesson on friendship, will, developing patience, and even managing with kids!

I particularly loved all the drawings and vibrant colors splashing through the pages. In Granny's story I would find myself looking through all the tiny ponies for the ones I recognized from the show.

Overall, it was a fun, fast, and enjoyable read. Super excited to keep reading more of these comics of My Little Pony and to keep feeding my obsessions :3

There are four stories within this volume that focuses on the different ponies and their different adventures. First there is Applejack and her family at Apple Con where Granny helps Flim and Flam mend their differences. Then Fluttershy and Iron Will work together to help Iron Will become more kind and patient. Then Rainbow Dash gets a mission from Spitfire at Cloudsdale to help with the Junior Flyers Summer Camp to help the young ponies to learn to fly. Finally Pinkie Pie is trying to stay away from the deliciously dangerous PheNOMNOMemons and enlists Twilight Sparkle to help her with her dilemma.

These stories were cute and fun to read. The short nature of these stories was nice as well because while they were short they were full of adventure and comedy in some cases. Rainbow Dash's story was my favorite but these stories will appeal to kids that love My Little Pony.

My Little Pony Friends Forever, Vol. 3 by Christina Rice
Who can resist ponies? Ponies are for everyone! This latest installment of My Little Pony: Friends Forever Volume 3 does not disappoint. It contains four separate stories that both children and adults will definitely enjoy. The illustrations are adorable -a perfect blend of cute and funny.

The stories stay true to each pony's distinct personality while emphasizing kindness and all the values that My Little Pony is known for. It is a great and fun way to teach kids a lesson or as an adult, reminisce about your childhood. If you grew up with My Little Pony or if you have children who love the show, you will definitely appreciate this series.

*Squee!*

Look what just landed on my desk! And look what I devoured on my break! Woooo-Hoooooooo!

Here we have four more Pony tales (tails?) filled with more friendship, teamwork, cooperation, and family values than a year's worth of After School Specials. Except it's delivered in a way that's not all preachy and pretentious and eye-rollingly obvious.

More: It's funny! Genuinely, quirkily funny!

In conclusion, I'd like to say: This series just keeps getting more and more adorable...and oddly addicting. I believe I must have MORE of it's super-duper-uber-colorful-happy-feel good-sugary-sweet cuteness! If something could spontaniously combust from cuteness, it would be this series.

Also, I kind of really want a cupcake right now.

I love my little pony, and I was amazed when I found this comic at NetGalley. The original TV-show was entertaining and cute. The same cuteness is found in this comic, though I kind of wish it was one continuous story-line rather than a few separate stories.

The stories were nice and cute and well executed, with artwork that was very close to the TV-series. It was a quick and enjoyable read. Also I would like to defend the short story format, because it makes this comic ideal as a goodnight read to a child, you don't have to finish the whole book in one evening when it has natural stopping points.

This volume of the Friends Forever series features the following team ups: Granny Smith and the Flim Flam Brothers, Fluttershy and Iron Will, Rainbow Dash and Spit Fire, and Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie. Out of the stories, to me the first featuring Granny Smith is the best. And its interesting to see two (or three in this case) background ponies feature so prominently in a story. Once again though, the whole volume is a joy to read, and I encourage it for all bronies and pegasisters.

Ok I must admit that I don't normally read comic books but my inner child and love of the My Little Pony made me cave. I enjoyed reading My Little Pony: Friends Forever Vol. 3. I liked each of the four stories and giggled more than a few times. I think all little girls who enjoy them will enjoy reading this comic book.
