Dopiero o wpół do ósmej Walter Pettibone wrócił do domu i zastał tam ponad setkę przyjaciół i znajomych, którzy powitali go okrzykiem: "Niespodzianka!".

-My most favorite book in this series so far...-

With each book I'm loving this series more and more but so far this book is my most favorite in this series. It was so emotional, so raw... I felt Eve & Roarke's joy and sorrow. Eve faced with her past and as always Roarke was with her. People who read it will understand me but that scene made me cry like river. But also another scene made me cry too but thank god, it was because of the happiness. :) Their first anniversary as a married couple. :) They gave their gifts to each other and ugh that moment was so special, so thoughtful. <3 They know each other so very well. :) Ahh anyway, don't mind me please. I'm just obsessed with this series. :D And I'm seriously in love with Eve & Roarke. :)

Ps. I listened the Audiobook version and it was so freaking good. Susan Ericksen is bloody awesome! ;)

“He could want her, every minute of every day. Was certain he would go on wanting her after he was dead and gone. She was the pulse, the reason, the breath.”

"It ended here."
He brushed tears from her cheeks.
"And what started, darling Eve, was you."

OMFG 😢 Roarke... <3 Chapter 13 literally ruined me... :'(

I love the entire IN DEATH series and REUNION IN DEATH was especially a standout. As detective Eve Dallas pursues a female killer who has been released from prison and is bent on revenge, sleeping with and then poisoning her victims, she is forced to confront demons from her past. I thought the way this examined Eve’s personal history was especially well done. The relationship between her and Roarke is what makes this series phenomenal, and I also loved the side plot with Peabody getting to lead her own case, plus getting to meet her parents. Such a great addition to the series. 5/5 stars.

Reunion in Death is, I think, one of the best books in the entire series. It certainly runs thought the entire gamut of emotions, from laughter at all the witty conversations to tears when Eve goes back to Dallas and faces some of her fears.
This is also one of the books where Roarke goes almost too far in the direction of controlling male. I always like to see him as perfect and he is most certainly not this time!
Amazing too that Roarke and Eve have only been married one year. An awful lot has happened and a lot of books have occurred within that twelve months.
And does anyone else think Peabody's parents are way over the top? Or was that just me?

The bed was covered in a spread exploding with what she thought might have been poppies ...

There was one particular scene in this book that was heartbreaking. I cried for Eve ... and for Roarke, who cannot change the past.

Watching her, knowing he had no choice but to watch her live the nightmare, Roarke broke inside.

Roarke seems to be trying to ingratiate himself into her work life more and more ... I don't mind that. We get to see more of him. Eve, though, is not too pleased.

"Darling Eve." His lips found hers again, rubbed gently. "So beautiful."

He made her feel beautiful. Made her feel clean. Made her feel whole.

We know the killer quite early on in the story but that does not detract from the storyline. It is the cat and mouse game that is being played between Eve and the killer that draws us in.

She picked up the teardrop diamond he'd once given her, looped the chain over her neck. And added the St. Jude medallion to it.

Suspense 4.5 stars / Romance 4.5 stars

A female killer! Call me a sick f*ck, but I think the authors discriminate our gender by writing almost all villains as males... I liked to read about a case with a female murderer. She was a very strong and clever opponent to the brilliant Eve.

Eve was / is / will always be the best!

Romance. I liked their time/his support in Dallas, but was slightly annoyed with Roarke toward the end. Stubborn man, but guess what? Eve can be stubborn too!

“By the way, Peabody looked wonderful. Love’s in the air.” (Luise)
“Something’s in the air,” (Even grumbled)

”I know where I am and when I am. And that we’ve got an anniversary coming in a couple of days. And, Carlo, I’ve never loved you more.” (Eve)

”I feel exactly the same way, Miranda. ---- If you’re feeling better, perhaps I can let the children in. Carlo Junior, Robbie, Anna and little Alice are anxious to see their mum.” (Roarke)

Mmm… this seems something Eve could ask, but I’m not sure how Roarke would react…

These are only a few examples of the wonderful banter present in this series!

In this book we have Eve being targeted by a woman she caught and sent to prison at the beginning of her career. But this deranged woman does not want to kill Eve, but to make her suffer by killing Roarke!

So you can imagine how Roarke reacts when Eve want to protect him! Here we have some wonderful quarrels between Eve and Roarke! LOL

We also have two new secondary characters: Peabody’s parents. They’re hippy-like couple and I liked them very much! Yes’ they were pushy, but in an endearing way!

We also have a very emotional moment when Eve and Roarke go in the hotel where Eve was imprisoned as a child. I was feeling cold dread while reading…

Another wonderful addition to the series! :)

I skipped this one when I read the series because I couldn't get it at the time, so reading this book was like going back in time in the series set in the future. And, I gotta say, this is one of those series that gets better as it goes on.

In this one we have a lady poisoning rich old men.

She's maybe taking this a little too literally.

Eve is going to get her, don't worry. She's a strong, powerful woman who is determined to kick this chick's ass because she's making it personal. And, all the men in her life are completely supportive of Eve because they know she is smart, tough, and has what it takes to bring this evil woman down. They respect her skills, etc. etc.... .No, really, they are just hoping for a girl fight. There is nothing that brings men together more than a cat fight. I mean, hey, there's a chance that clothes will be torn or the girls might get so excited by their fighting that they may kiss. (Really, men? This is what you think? I honestly don't know how you've been in charge for so long.)

"When a man stands back and watches two women fight, it's with the cherished hope that clothes will be ripped off along the way."

Oh, Roarke, I'm so disappointed in you. I don't know. I just thought you were better than this.
So, what men are saying is that when they fight, it is because they have legitimate reasons, such as defending their woman or their honor. And, when women see men fighting, we worry that someone may get hurt. BUT, when women fight, it is because they are petty and jealous or fighting over a man. When men see women fighting, they are hoping for a free peek at a boob.

Another thing going on is that Peabody's parents come into town and for some reason they glob on to Eve as if she's their long-lost daughter or something. It's weird and creepy. I mean, they meet her and then Peabody's mother basically invites herself to dinner at Eve's house. Then, when the pushy parents show up to dinner, Peabody's mother manipulates Roarke into allowing them to stay at their house during their visit. Talk about pushy!! Eve and Roarke have a big house, yeah. But, that doesn't mean that they are obligated to be a free hotel for every friend of a friend's who decide to visit New York. WTH?

This book also has Eve face her past as they need to travel to Dallas. Although I feel bad for what happened to her, I didn't really catch the emotional feelings that were trying to be conveyed as she flashed back to her childhood. It's hard for me to believe that someone can be wide awake and get caught-up in a memory to the point of starting to speak as a child. It was strange.

Still, a solid book in the series. And, this is a fun series if you like murder-mysteries.

Fourteen books in and I am still LOVING everything about this series.

I LOVE that Roarke and Eve feel so real to me. Their love, their lives and all the challenges they face.

I LOVE each of the side characters and how they are developing. Peabody is my favorite right now. The ebb and flow of her and Eve’s relationship is just perfect. She is funny and sweet. Feeney, McNab, Mira, Summerset and Whitney continue to shine as well.

I LOVE that with each book there is no need for some big revelation or a twist in the plot to keep me engaged. The writing is fabulous.

And I LOVE that even after 15 books J.D. Robb has me wanting for more. Many more.

In Reunion in Death someone from Eve’s past has come to wage war with her. It would be more than one death that has Eve and her team tracking down someone who won’t stop until Eve has paid. But this case would bring Eve back to her nightmare. A place in her past that she is uncertain she can face.

There is no doubt of the depth of Roarkes love for Eve. He simply cherishes her.

He could want her, every minute of every day. Was certain he would go on wanting her after he was dead and gone. She was the pulse, the reason, the breath.

In this one Roarke can feel Eve’s pain to his center. It is hard for him to watch her go through what she does. It was hard for me to read it. Her story brought me to tears.

Watching her, knowing he had no choice but to watch her live the nightmare, Roarke broke inside.

When he saw her there his heart shattered. “I don’t know what to do for you.” His voice was thick with emotion, with the accent that took over when his defenses were most compromised. “What to say to you.”

But Eve is so strong. She is strong enough to show him her raw emotions and strong enough to say the words that make him love her more than he thought possible. Eve may have been broken once but with Roarke by her side, never will she be again.

“No.” She framed his face, let the tears come. “It’s so right. It’s so perfect. Can’t you see?” She lifted to him again. “Can’t you feel?” She smiled even as the tears sparkled on her cheeks. “You’ve made me beautiful.”

I’m not sure how long it will take me to reach the end of this series and quite honestly I hope it takes me a while. I love these two….Roarke and Eve.

I love the stories and the characters! Well written and intriguing!

In this instalment, Eve has to face two different parts of her past who are equally painful to her!

A killer is free and hasn't forgotten that Eve was the one who not only caught her but also didn't show any respect for her "work." Now she wants payback!

Eve with Roarke by her side and also good friends who slowly are becoming a kind of a family for them is doing whatever she can to stop her before it's too late and she might lose what's dearest to her!

One of her leads drives her back to the city that holds her most painful memories, but while there, more pieces of the puzzle are revealed, but Eve is no longer alone and can find strength and comfort in the man who loves her!

The character development of both Eve and Roarke, while they face daily challenges, is intriguing, as is the hunting of this particular vicious and intelligent adversary!

Despite the fact that it's the 14th story of the series, it's a delight to me to read about Eve and Roarke, and the cases remain intriguing!

When wealthy businessman Walter Pettibone is murdered at his sixtieth birthday party, Detective Eve Dallas is quick to recognise the face of the person who killed him. It's someone she helped put in jail ten years ago but now she's served her time and is out of jail seeking revenge. Eve can't work out her motive for killing Walter Pettibone - or her next victim and is frustrated by the lack of leads in tracking her down. But the murderer has plans to meet up with Eve again and is planning the perfect way to get back at her.

This was a really good episode in this series. It was a good blend of action and humour, often at Eve's expense. Eve also has to take a trip to Dallas and is finally able to summon the courage to revisit the horror of her early years, with Roarke there to support her. Eve and Roarke are also celebrating a very eventful first year together, and Peabody's parents drop into town.

Another superb addition to this wonderful series.

Definitely some raw and emotional moments for Eve here...as she comes face to face with her dark and challenging past again....but she consistently proves herself to be.... one tough chick, cop and badass.

Every book in this series so far has been an absolute pleasure to read. They are engaging, witty, smart and fun with an interesting mystery at the core of each story....... and I still expect to be saying exactly that even when....... I eventually hit book number "50" or however many more there may be by that time!

Reread August 2018 — Eve and Roarke come to their first wedding anniversary. It’s been a wild ride and they are still learning each other.
In this story our villain is a woman Eve put away 5 years earlier. Now she’s out on parole and ready to continue her killing spree. This time its vengeance. Every man who crossed her path and pissed her off is up for a glass of champagne...with poison added for flavor. She also wants to make the only woman to ever beat her pay. That would be our favorite murder detective, Eve Dallas. Now Roarke is in danger.

★★★★★ Wow! How does this series just keep getting better and better? I usually listen to the audio, because Susan Ericksen does such an exceptional job with the narration, but I found myself “stranded” with only the paperback in hand.

So many memorable scenes with wonderfully developed characters in this one, even the cat, Galahad.

my lack of interest in the murder mystery part (which wasn't as good as in some other books) was replaced with some excellent side storyline with Eve's past, learning that she is not only afraid of heights but animals too, that Texas part was heartbreaking but also hilarious in parts, Eve reaction to cows and horses..😂😂😂
and let me tell you how every time Roarke says darling Eve I am done for...gah I love these two!!

REUNION IN DEATH is hands down the best book in the series. It could possibly be one of the best books I’ve ever read. I consider all the In Death books to be above most books in terms of writing and characters but with this book, Robb has really surpassed herself exponentially.

Robb takes a different approach to this book. We find out who the killer is early on, but in order to shut her down, we need to find the motive. As a birthday party becomes a murder scene, Eve Dallas and her ever important sidekick, Peabody have her hands full as they try to track down a killer with a personal intent to get Eve.

Meanwhile, Peabody gets her chance to shine as she is assigned her own cold case to shut down. I loved this because it not only showed Peabody’s capabilities, but it also showed Eve in a way that seemed almost motherly. And since Eve and Roarke don’t have a kid, this is one way to see a softer side to Eve. I also loved seeing the pride in McNab as he watched his girl do her thang.

Roarke is as involved as one can get in an ongoing investigation. When he acts as delicious bait, Eve’s protectiveness is revealed and we see the claws come out. For lack of a better word, the whole thing was badass. From the birthday party murders, to the chase in Italy, to the final take down in the end. Everything is perfectly executed. The plotting and pacing is perfection and I was literally on the edge of my seat as I listened to this audiobook. I don’t think I’ve ever been so consumed by a book before.

There’s a ton more I could go on and I think one of the most important scenes to mention is the trip to Dallas where Eve and Roarke go together to meet the killer’s step father. That particular visit hits too close to home for Eve and it was nice seeing the support from Dr. Mira and Roarke. It wasn’t an easy ride but I think that brought so much emotional depth to Eve’s character that the story and plot gained more momentum because of it. All of it seemed to further progress the story.

I have to mention the sex scenes. I really don’t know how Robb does it. You would think that with 14 books, you’d be bored of the same couple going at it, but each time feels like the very first time. It’s just as emotional and I think moreso in this case because of what happens right before. All in all, this book truly shined amongst a sea of gems.

Interesting story. A killer from Eve's past came back to taunt her and to wage war against her. A stone cold killer who targets wealthy older men who meticulously researched the victims background and habits.

My heart just about broke for Eve when she returned to confront her past. It was a nightmare but still she faced it with Roarke beside her. I couldn't love him more for it.

"I can't imagine not wanting you so that it puts an ache inside me. Seeing you, smelling you, touching you so everything in me needs. But, if when we're a hundred and twenty and that's more memory than reality, I'll still need you, Eve, a thousand ways."

"I looked, darling Eve, and saw the woman I would love, and trust, and need as I'd never expected to love or trust or need another living soul. The only woman I wanted to be with, to live with, to sleep and wake with, to grow old with."

5 Experiencing Everything With Them Stars
* * * * * Spoiler Free
This entry was one of the most intense so far for me. It was the case that was the culprit; it was the continuing PTSD Eve has from her childhood. Due to the release of a past murderer from "the cage", Eve is hunting her down once again. The killer thinks she and Eve have much in common...Eve proves her wrong.

But to do so, the journey in catching this killer leads Eve to a place she never wanted to go to again.
The telling of this scene will rip your heart out as it does Roarke's. It is powerful and highlights the very talent Robb has in relaying all the feels and experiences her characters have. She shares them with us as if they are first hand and they will stay with you long after the reading.

Another part of this entry is the growth of Peabody as a cop. She has been training and learning under Eve's hand and it is ready to be tested. We also meet Peabody's parents and they live up to the Free Agers they are.

Roarke is a rock. I repeat myself in every review...He is Everything. Yet it is the blending of him with Eve is what works the best. They are both learning this as any married couple does...

On to the next...Woot Woot!
~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
It Seems as if I don't want to read anything else...Eve and Roarke keep calling my name...
I loved it.
This case was really hard on Eve, she had to face her past and it was very difficult on both Eve and Roarke.
I loved Peabody's parents, they are so diffenent from their daughter. And Peabody, spread her wings and had her own case. I was equally invested in her case as Eve's as well.
This one made me really mad, honestly.
This is the second time that Roarke decided he had the right to absolutely stomp on her and her authority in her place of work. To go over her head, collude with her boss, and then dictate to her how her fucking case is going to go. In front of her team. I was so mad I was angry-crying, no joke. And then he made it even worse when he decided HE was the injured party and got all pissy with her for not just doing what he says. Calling her illogical and emotional. Hello, gaslighting.
I wanted Eve to throw her badge into her commander's face, and tell him she gets that cops are a boys club, but she didn't realize that even a boy NOT IN THE CLUB would constantly outrank her. And that if her boss has so little respect for her, both as a lieutenant and a primary, but also personally - when he agrees to wade into this alongside Roarke to enforce that what Roarke wants is what is going to happen - then maybe he should just give Roarke her job.
Nothing Roarke said or did made up for this. And Eve has never - NEVER - shown such a horrible disrespect for him. In front of her whole team, no less! And then it was like ... a running theme after this that Eve was over the top with being pissy and whatever. No, fuck you. Fuck all of you. She was mad for 10 min and then rolled over and forgave all of it.
I don't know if I'm going to continue on with the series, which is a bummer. Because this is the second time he has done this, and I don't see that ever changing - he is going to do it again and again, and it has made me despise him a little bit. I don't know that I believe he loves her, because that was so gross and fucking condescending and disrespectful...how can that be love? How?
Maybe I'll come back after a break, but right now, I sure feel like I won't.
I really do adore this series and maybe it is because it's been awhile since I've read one but this was so hard to put down. I adore Eve and Roarke and have always loved their crazy and slightly messed up dynamic. Their love it real, no matter how ugly that sometimes gets. I loved seeing them work together just a bit more in this instead of butting heads like they usually do. A well thought out plot line that kept me turning the pages furiously.
Another great read - love the fight scene at the end especially, plus things get blown up a couple of times!
We meet Peabody's parents (and I really like their characters). My "favourite" female serial killer on the loose using her speciality "arsenic poisoning" and then happily set up and apprehended in Eve fashion!
Two thumbs up and 5 stars!
This book had me laughing so hard at times. The fact that Eve is afraid of farm animals had me laughing to the point of tears. And of course, Roarke always has experienced most of the things Eve is always scared of.
I also enjoyed having Peabody's parents in this book. Eve has such a hard time with relationships and letting people in. But Peabody is part of her circle and thus she accepts her parents. Sam and Phoebe were good for Eve. It's really not Eve's fault she doesn't know how to accept affection and love from people. But I love watching her grow book by book.
I hate what Roarke did going around Eve in this book - and in the previous one. I think he gets off too easy with it. And I hate Whitney in those situations also. I also don't really like the ending.
I liked their anniversary celebration, Phoebe and Sam, and the trip to Dallas. It's always a bit of a see-saw to me in this book with those things I like and those things I don't.
Reunion in Death
4 Stars
In her latest case, Lieutenant Eve Dallas investigates the poisoning of a wealthy business man. After ruling out the obvious suspects, Eve realizes that the victim was targeted by a newly paroled prisoner - a killer that Eve was responsible for incarcerating. With vengeance in mind, the killer has set her sights on Eve and is determined to fulfill her deadly agenda.
The mystery in this installment is interesting, mainly due to the sociopathic nature of the villain who always seems to be one step ahead of our intrepid heroine. Nevertheless, much of the book actually focuses on the continuing character development and growth as Eve confronts some of her personal demons, Roarke accepts some difficult truths, and Peabody is put to the test when she is given responsibility for investigating a cold case and interrogating a suspect.
The dramatic scenes in which Eve and Roarke travel to Dallas highlight the emotional and psychological depths of Robb's writing as Eve takes the first steps in dealing with the horrific events of her past, and Roarke fully comprehends the enormity of what happened to her.
In addition to this trip down memory lane, the story also includes a visit from Peabody's New-Ager parents. While Sam Peabody is another father figure in the same vein as Feeney, Whitney, Mr. Mira and even Summerset, his wife is another matter. Phoebe Peabody has that protective mother vibe, but she is also somewhat creepy and perhaps even a lot scary. She's not someone you would want to mess with.
All in all, another action packed book in the series, but also one with some intense introspection on the part of the characters. Looking forward to the next one.
