I like it. It's got dragons, and political friction between Nubia and Egypt, our main character is a spunky Nubian Princess avenging her parents and claiming her throne for the betterment of the world. It's kind of like Game of Thrones for 5th-6th graders (without that awful ending).

Oh, and I did not read the prequel to this sequel - I just read the book straight away and I didn't have any issues keeping up with the story or feeling like pieces of information were missing.

I loved this book! I liked how Princess Kandaki met Prahotep and Baki in the search of more dragons. Princess Kandaki wanted revenge against Shabaku, who killed her parents because he wanted to become king. In the end, Kandaki did get revenge against Shabaku and, Prahotep found a mate for Hathor, Prahotep's dragon.

Also lovely - good follow-up to The Dragon and the Thief! I loved the new characters, and the ones from the last book were just as nice as they had been before. And a minor point, but a telling one all the same: Kandaki, as a Nubian, is said to be black - and the cover illustration actually shows her black. Isn't always the case...

A likeable follow-up to The Dragon and the Thief. I like the message that is not what you are born or have been that defines you, but the way you act now. Prahotap grows with the challanges he faces and shows himself to be worthy of so much more than being a humble fisherman and a thief.
