Since escaping from The Ragged Cove and finding herself suspended from the police force, Kiera Hudson is hired by the mysterious Lady Hunt to protect her 16-year-old daughter from a stranger she believes is lurking on the moors. But little does Kiera know that it is she who will need protecting.
Arriving at the Hallowed Manor on the desolate Welsh Moors, Kiera soon realises that the vampires she has been seeing are not just the stuff of her nightmares, but are very real - and are closing in.
If Kiera is to escape the vampires who hunt her, she will have to discover the true identity of the bandaged man, the secret of the children's graveyard beneath the weeping willows, and who, or what, is hiding in the "forbidden wing" of the Hallowed Manor.

Kiera escaped The Ragged Cove, but not the memories of what she knows. Not even the police psychiatrist can convince her there are no vampire-like creatures and until then, she has no place on the police force. When Kiera receives a mysterious job opportunity as a babysitter/bodyguard to a young teen, she will discover that she may be the one in danger when her past comes roaring back and dark secrets are revealed. Does Kiera really know who she is?
VAMPIRE WAKE by Tim O’Rourke is a dark and unique take on the mythical creatures of the night. Something is going on at the Hallowed Manor and the suspense is topped only by the shocking revelations!
Tim O’Rourke’s style is spot on for dark paranormal readers!
Tim O’Rourke is an amazing author. I’ve read all five of his novels and, like a fine wine, his novels just keep getting better with time. Every single one of his novels have grabbed my attention and glued me to the pages, and Vampire Wake is no different. The second book in the Kiera Hudson trilogy, O’Rourke creates a deliciously creepy tale continuing the story of Kiera, Luke, Potter, and Murphy, while adding new characters along the way.
I really loved this novel. I love vampires in general, but O’Rourke has taken an age-old tale and made a completely unique, exciting story out of it. This novel is full of suspense, creating an enticing read, especially as some parts of it are a tad bit creepy, which makes it all the more fun, in my opinion.
Kiera, the strong female lead, is an amazing character. Her personality and sentimentality make her an extremely real persona and I feel like I actually know her. She has a very kind and caring disposition, but at the same time, she doesn’t let people walk all over her. Kiera is a very strong character and she has endeared herself to my heart...
Kiera is spectacular, I love her character and this book is giving us a hint of what she is truly going to become. The mystery of her mother still looms over us but this time it is also giving us a hint of why this mystery simply is!
The characters in this book, Mr. Hunt, Kiera's mum, and (without spoiling things) a new arrival's parent, all have a part to play and yet we haven't met them yet... Kiera and her two new 'related' friends are going to become quite some team, or so it seems, but each with a parent to 'save' maybe... the possibilities are endless...
What gets me though is Kiera and her 'love' for Luke... I can't really say too much here but I am NOT a happy girl... I love Luke, I have from the first moment I met him... and now I am left wondering and hoping.... and I aint gonna find out unless I read the next installment, which will be pretty soon!
This book left me guessing up until the very end. Sure, there were a couple things that I figured out but ZOMG I was expecting this and that and this and oh THAT and THIS!! Jeepers!!!
Vampire Wake kinda had a Scooby Doo vibe to it but I guess most mystery books do. I kept expecting the Mystery Machine to pull up or for them to pull a mask off someone's head but never the less this book was most awesome!
Kiera is back in Hobbit Land with her Mini that got pulled out of the snow in a tiny apartment or flat or whatever you want to call it and she's become super obsessed with clipping newspaper articles about things that sound vampy.
I know!! I totally gasped!! People still read newspapers? Crikey!! Who knew?!!
So, as Keira is kinda going through a hoarding period of her life... cuz let's face it... once you start collecting papers you might as well consider yourself a hoarder. A&E taught me that ;) Then she gets a knock on the door or... no wait.... Ummm... maybe it was a phonecall.. No... perhaps they met at a coffeshop... AHHH!! The details aren't important.... ANyways, this rich Welsh Chick comes and sees Keira and since she is Queen of the Hobbits (cuz all Welsh people are. Blessed Be Michael Sheen and his most awesome ways) she told Keira that she totes needed her to watch her youngin' over at her castly pad because she needed to go to NYC for a taping of SNL (or so I assume)
Keira isn't too sure but she's all like "Yeah, sure, Whatev'" and takes a ride in a limo with the Hobbit Queen and her driver her totally ignores her and doesn't even open the door. HOW RUDE!! (did you see that? I totally went Full House on this review)
Lady Hunt (Aka Hobbit Queen) jumps out of the car while they are on the interstate or toll road or umm... motorway or whatever the call em and says "Yeah dude! I'm gonna go jet to NYC and see my Dawgs... You have fun baby sitting my kid! And make sure that no one like spies in her bedroom! That's been happening and you know... that's kinda to catch a predatory so ummm... yeah!! Call Chris Hanson if you see any of that going on. Have fun!! Chow chow!"
Keira pulls up to a castle with a moat that probably doesn't have alligators or killer sharks with laser beams on their heads because it's too cold there. Seriously, why do places like that have moats when it's too cold to support the proper wildlife? I'll never understand that about Europe ;) And she's greeted by this Henny Penny woman (or that's how I envisioned her) named Mrs. Payne who goes all scary movie on her and is like "Stay out of the forbidden wing!". Hmmms... maybe it was more like Count Chocula... yeah, it was probably like that.
So, Keira smells something foul (which I assume was Scooby Snacks) and totally wants to go check out that wing but doesn't do it because she decides to go to sleep and wakes up to find Kayla the teenage hormones of the story going through her totebag and playing with her Fruit Pod.
Keira makes friends with Kayla and throughout the story of Non-mani-pedis the adventure starts.
I swear Man,.... you think you'll have all the answers and then WHAMO!!!!! The story twists and turns and flops upside down and well... that's what's awesome about this.... You think you'll pull off one mask and scream "DON KNOTTS!" but then you're screaming "SHERIFF TAYLOR" and then you scream "AHHH!!! WHo is it!!"
A very entertaining read!! I can't wait for the next one!
Questions from a Greta Did you learn anything from reading this book? Yes, I learned that a jumper is not what I think it is. It's a sweatshirt. I still don't understand why they are called that but ummm... I guess you jump in them or something.
Any romance in this one? Kind of sort of... but I fear what might happen in the next one. I'm not too sure I'm keen on it... But I think Tim is trying to make TEAMS lolz!
Do you need to read the first book to understand this book? Actually, I think you could read this book as a stand-alone if you wanted to. THe hobbit definitely tells enough back story that you don't feel lost at all if you were to just jump into this book. That's always a good thing
Which book did you enjoy more? I liked VAMPIRE WAKE better than VAMPIRE SHIFT. I thought the story line was a bit better, it totally left me guessing until the very end, and I rather enjoyed all the graphic violence.
What age do you think could read this? I would think a 14 year old would be fine reading this. THere isn't anything naughty going on and not a lot of cussing. I would definitely let my son read this book if he wanted to.
Were there any scary parts? Well, this is a vampire book so there is some spooky imagery but nothing that kept me up at night. It's kind of hard to do that but I look forward to seeing if the author can do that to me in the next one.
How did the hobbit author do at portraying a teenage girl? He actually did quite well! I was impressed! I didn't roll my eyes once!
What about a 20-something woman? I think he did better in this book than the last one which is awesome!!
Is Beyonce in this one? NOES!!! Adelle is played and Ne-yo or something like that and LMFAO (who I have no idea who that is) but no Beyonce!!
What's your obsession with Beyonce? Uhhh.... Ummmm..... I just think a 20 something hobbit girl should listen to her ;) Plus, she's awesome.
This is a vampire book. Any sparkles? HAHAHS!!! Yes!!!! And 2 other things that made me laugh and say ZOMG!! He did NOT!! lolz!
Are you excited to read the next one? You betcha!! This was left with such an evil cliffy that I just can't wait!!
Now go buy this book and find out what I'm squeeing about!! RUN RUN!!
6 Months have passed since Kiera Hudson left The Ragged Cove. Seeing is believing and Doc Keats and the rest of the Police Force didn’t see what went down at The Ragged Cove, she did. Nobody seems to want to believe that vampires were the reason for the deaths and missing people. Kiera has to prove to the Doc her sanity on a weekly basis, if she wants her badge back.
The past 6 months haven’t changed her story, what do they want her to say? One way to shut the Doc up is to prove her ability to ‘see’ things....
Kiera is plagued by nightmares, leaving her bleeding from her left eye....now they are waking nightmares...what is happening?
Enter Lady Hunt who needs Kiera to do a babysitting job for her, now! Although not what Kiera would normally do, she needs an income and to keep herself busy , so off to the creepy Hallowed Manor with its even creepier staff.
What I love about Tim’s writing is he always has a wonderful ambience to his writing. Darkness is his friend. You really ‘feel’ the scene he is writing with lamp light shining in your face.
Tim has introduced some great new characters who are always very interesting and quirky. I think he has brought another hottie to my attention....I can’t wait to read more about him.
What can I say about Potter......apart from my crush just keeps getting bigger. He is such a wise crack , and I love how he always makes good use of a bad situation, especially if it involves Kiera. He does make me laugh out loud. I think if the layers were peeled back Potter is somebody who has been hurt underneath, he has a protective shell that is his shield and he doesn’t like anybody getting past it. I do love it when Potter calls Kiera, “sweet-cheeks” and “easy Tiger!”
Luke has me all in knots as I don’t want him to be hurt, I kind of want Kiera to end up with Potter....but Luke is just this nice guy that cares about her , wants to protect her, throws himself in harms way to save Kiera..... he may even love her.
I love a well written action scene and Tim visually writes his action scenes very well. He always has a lot going on in his fight scenes and Potter and the lads are always up for a challenge.
The reader is in for another mystery and what better person for the job than Kiera Hudson. When you think you have something worked out....Tim throws in another twist.
Kiera has a more ongoing drama in her life that we will no doubt read more about in Vampire Hunt the third book in the series to be released December 2011. I can’t wait!
Tim O’Rourke has a delicious recipe of action, blood ( yes , there will be blood), witty dialogue, twists, hot guys, quirky characters, dark tales, paranormal creatures, rule breakers, awesome ambience and a mystery to keep you turning the pages. If you haven’t picked up Vampire Shift, with the totally awesome cover, then what are you waiting for, I highly recommend it. Once you have visited ‘The Ragged Cove’ you will be itching to get your hands on Vampire Wake and visit , ‘Hallowed Manor’.
FAVE QUOTES:
‘Knowing what you’re like, the slightest sign of a discarded cigarette butt and you would’ve been crawling around on your hands and knees trying to figure out how tall the smoker was , how old he was, what sign of the zodiac he was , whether he’d taken a crap that morning and Christ knows what else.’
‘Staring wide eyed at him I screamed, ‘oh my god! You disgusting pig!’
‘Okay Madonna , I think we get the picture. Now do your coat up before you catch a cold.’
‘Jeez , and I thought your hormones were raging – that guy reeks,’ he said.
WOW... AGAIN! THIS BOOK WAS SO GREAT. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK. DYING TO FIND OUT HOW IT ENDS!... BUT NOW I'M TORN BETWEEN LUKE & POTTER. SOMETHING ABOUT POTTER NOT THINKING HE'D BE GOOD ENOUGH IS SUPER SEXY. LOL.
The first book was ok... I was willing to give book two a go as all the right ingredients were there... unfortunately book two got left to long in the oven.
The characters.... They had no character they were all so one dimensional, I felt the author just plopped a character into a situation with no rhyme or reason, there was no build up or mystery.
The chemistry between the characters is bland.... I was seeing potter as an older bloke Until he kissed Keira
The writing wasn't exactly gripping, there was a lot of dialogue and not much description.
The plot was ok, the way its delivered wasn't, I see that the book has great reviews so my review is in the minority.... But wont be carrying on......
AWESOME! Awesome wrapped in chocolate...and then dunked in blood. *winks*
Kiera is back at it. Finding herself back in the middle of blood thirsting danger, and again without a cell phone! Who is she gonna call to save her? No one. Well that is until she DOES get her hands on a phone and then even that back fires on her.
But hold on...you look confused. Let me rewind. Rewind to the part where Kiera is suspended from the force and has been living out the last six months in work appointed therapy. Where she is constantly treated like she is as mad as the Mad Hatter for talking about the vampires and vampyrus back in Ragged Cove. To the part where Kiera spends all of her down time watching the news, clipping newspaper articles, and pinning them to her wall, transforming her flat into paper mache chic.
Why you ask? Why was she doing all this? To find him...Luke. Searching for anything that might suggest vampires, and thus Luke there hunting them. Little did she know that she was wasting her time. That Luke would bring her to him...sorta. A women comes to to see Kiera. Asking her to come stay at her remote castle location to watch after her troubled teen daughter while the mum goes on a business trip for her husband that disappeared.
Dissapeared....people are vanishing just like before so Kiera decides to go which lands her back in a place cut off from the world. Well if by cut off you mean no electricity, or phone lines, or tv, but cell phones work just fine. That is until you fall off a wall and lose your in a mote...So see? Here she is again without a cell phone.
It is really hard to give you much more without giving away all the twists and turns, and lets face it no one likes a spoil bunny. SO just know this...I thought Vampire Shift was made of awesome. Vampire Wake?! AWESOMETASTIC!! Tim O'Rourke improved a world that I didn't even know had room for improvement in the first place. Every time I thought I had something else figured out he would slap it down. There is no catching him. Tim has a way to paint a world that will leave you guessing up until the very end, and have you clawing your eyes out for more. I can't wait for the next book Vampire Hunt. I need it NOWS!!
And and Tim? If your out there reading this somewhere I just need to say one thing. A thing that only you and the others that have read this book will understand...Luke *GASP/SNIFFLES*, Potter *GASP/SWOON/HATES MYSELF FOR SWOONING*, Kiera *SIGHS*
And now for my highest of praise...
Buy it, borrow it, rent it, steal it if you have to....but you have got to ,READ this book!!!
Book two was a good deal better than book one and now I can officially say that I'm hooked! There is something quite cliche about the settings and scenarios in one sense. In book 1 it was a creepy deserted village and in book 2 it's manor house full of secrets and strange people in the middle of nowhere. It kind of feels like I've fallen into a murder mystery/horror show. But that is actually one of the things I love about this series! I don't know if the author is British or not but it has a real Miss Marple feel about it and I got a warm comfortable feeling curled up on the sofa reading this with a hot cup of tea.
And then, then there are the creatures :) The vampires are so gross and scary. I picture them like bloodsucking zombies. I'm not easily scared, really I'm not. I get bored in horror movies, they just don't affect me at all. But the actions scenes in this book really had me metaphorically hiding behind the sofa. The Vampyrus are interesting too. They haven't been glamourised like in a lot of paranormal romances. There's a good amount of animal about them, which makes them very 'otherworldly'. I do cringe a bit at any intimate scenes when they're not in human form but I'm sure I'll get over it.
Essentially I consider this book to be mystery/thriller/horror more than paranormal romance. I really enjoy the pace of the mystery, there's a lot of creepy unexplained happenings and the unravelling of it all always seems to surprise me in some way or other. There's also an underlying 'metaplot' (if you like) that is really complex and multilayered. We find out little bits and pieces and yet more questions are raised. It never feels like things are intentionally held back though so it's intriguing rather than frustrating.
The only weak area of this book, in my opinion, is the character development. I still feel like Keira is a little two dimensional and I don't feel her romantic attachments. I'm pleased with the direction it's going in though and I do think she will grow on me. I would just like some more insight into her emotional side. I feel similarly about Luke, I need more personality from him.
In summary, this is a really good continuation of a spooky vampire tale. I love the blood, gore and suspense. The book is mystery and action driven rather than emotionally driven which makes for a gripping adventure but not an intense romance. I'm looking forward to reading book 3!
Vampire Wake is a brilliant book. With Keira back at Havensfield she is trying to come to terms with what happened at The Ragged Cove and get her life back on track. However, this is not as simple as it sounds! To begin with, there are not many people who believe her story and, therefore, her mind is occupied with trying to find any information she can on the whereabouts of her beloved mother and her Vampyrus friends: Luke, Murphy and Potter.
She is then asked to 'babysit' Lady Hunt's sixteen year old daughter, Kayla, which Keira is reluctant to do at first but her thirst for work exceeds this reluctancy. Hence, life has not completely returned to normal for Keira but has provided her with something different to occcupy her time with.
Keira's character is very alert and she is able to piece a puzzle/mystery together with her ability to 'see' details and process them very quickly. And it is this, coupled with her drive, determination and curiosity that makes Keira a really likeable character.
I have to say, after reading the first two novels of this series, that the character Potter is possibly my favourite. I love that his dark, impolite side can swiftly turn into cheekiness and that there is something more about him underneath his harshness. Although it is well hidden for the most part, he does appear to have a soft side.
I do feel that Vampire Wake is largely the set-up for book three, Vampire Hunt. There are more revelations in this second novel but after the build up and some brilliant action scenes the reader is left desperate to begin the third book, knowing that plenty more adventure and action scenes are on the way.
Again, there is a great connection to the readers' reality as Tim O'Rourke writes with great imagination and knowledge of modern day Britain. For example, with current music being played on Keira's iPod this aids the reader to connect with the characters of the book. It allows the story to have a hint of realism and therefore, makes it more believable.
I have begun reading Vampire Hunt, book three, and it does not disappoint!
Tim O' Rourke has gotten me under his spell with this series. As each book unwinds - The more mystery and intrigue and twists and turns are thrown in. Just as you think you know what ' s going to happen, Tim throws in yet another curve ball , that will not only leave your fingers twitching but your heart aching for Kiera but also angry at the betrayal within.
Tim O’Rourke has a no drama in delivering delicious hot guys, smexy, - kick arse, tough, rough yet witty and delightfully delicious hotties. There isn’t a lot of romance in the story but enough to certainly have you curious as to where Tim will take us and enough to have you swooning for sure ..
There is Lots of blood and action in this book, a fantastic storyline that will not only keep you on the edge of your seat but have you grasping at your reader wandering WT hell is going on!!!
The mystery unveils each page at a time, an unpredictable storyline by any means; Tim not only delivers the goodies but has the reader by the short and cur lies till that last page has been turned.
As much as I thought that Potter was a pompus - smart mouthered terd in book one, I can’t help but be drawn to him in this story. I think I was even tingling for a moment of two. His witty character will make you grin but also swoon. (As much as you really don’t want to.) Believe me it’s hard. Grins…..
Luke is sweet and caring, what every girl loves but don’t be misplaced, it’s not all roses and chocolates with Kiera and Luke. A lot changes in this story and we find out things we never anticipated!!!! Shock horror!! Gasp!!!
Lots of mystery to keep you engaged till the very end. Once again I read this in record breaking speed and flew over at vampire speed and brought the next installment. !
The Kiera Hudson series is fresh - different and a vampire tale like no other. I really enjoying being able to pick up a story and think wow!!!
I didn’t go into the book much with this review - read the blurb and run and grab your copy today ….. You’d be batty if you didn’t ** snickers **
As I started reading Vampire Wake, the second book in the Kiera Hudson series, I wondered just where the author, Tim O’Rourke would take me on the journey. I was happily surprised to find how the book started out and even more surprised to see where the book ended.
As the pages turned, I began to see deeper into the story that Mr. O’Rourke has designed in his vampire world. While the first book in the series, Vampire Shift was a 4 star read in my book, I quickly found myself much more intrigued in this second installment with the Vampire Wake.
The twists and turns that are written into the story were easy to follow, but not easy to figure out ahead of time. Leading me from one event to another without knowing beforehand why they would do the things they did. Later to find that the way the story was woven around the people and the history of the vampyrus was much more extensive and intriguing then I originally thought.
Learning more about Kiera and the reason she is unique in this series explains a lot. I found that it opened up a potential for many more stories to come from Mr. O’Rourke. Kiera ability to see flourishes in this book and her ability to accept the things around her is one of her strongest abilities. Set into the scene someone who hears it all and smells everything and you have a group of people that are beyond your average characters.
I enjoyed reading Vampire Shift, but I do have to admit to really enjoying Vampire Wake. Learning a bit more about the characters has made me feel as if I know them better. As if I can see exactly what they are doing, and what they are thinking. Now… If I could only figure out what Mr. O’Rourke is thinking in the way of Kiera’s love life!! I am finding that very interesting and look forward to reading book 3 in the series when it is released to find out.
These are Tim's words that are apt to describe this book if not the series. The editing is superb, hats off to Carolyn M. Pinard for that, plus Mr. O'Rourke's writing is masterful. It's how the words flow, it's not dumb nor is it overly smart, it the way everything was put together that makes it easy on the eyes and my brain to process. The last book I've breezed through without [almost] blinking was Silence (Becca Fitzpatrick) and Chronicles of Nick (Sherrilyn Kenyon) and this beat those records. I can't rave enough.

Compared to the first book in this series – which I was absolutely crazy about – this one left me feeling a little bit disappointed. It had none of the suspense, the pizzazz, or that unique eeriness O’Rourke managed to maintain so effectively during the first book, Vampire Shift. Not being a fan of vampire-themed books anymore (with the exception of Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse novels which will always remain a firm favorite with me), I fell in love with this series because it’s so different from all the other vampire books I’ve read up until then. In this second installment, the sense of dread and danger was still there, especially with the huge, old manor in a remote part of the country, surrounded by a moat, where Kiera now finds herself taking care of a teenage delinquent. But everything I loved so much about the previous book, wasn’t present in the second book. The writing which had me enthralled with Vampire Shift, just didn’t pack a punch the second time around and is in need of a good round of editing. Kiera’s character was in control of herself and her emotions in the first book, and it always felt as though she had a handle on things, but in book two her character sometimes acted immaturely and erratic. Where there were lots of action in Vampire Shift, the action only happened in the very last pages of this book, and the build-up to the conclusion were at times predictable. Overall it was still a good and enjoyable read, and the world-building was done spectacularly well. But in comparison to its predecessor, Vampire Wake fell a little flat. Still, I’m well aware that this sometimes happens to the second book in a series, so I’ll definitely be reading the third and fourth books which I already have on my kindle. I love where O’Rourke’s imagination takes the reader and how his vampires are different from all the others I’ve read in other books, and for that alone I give Vampire Wake a sold four-star rating.
I am absolutely loving this series. The first book was awesome so of course I couldn't wait to read Vampire Hunt. It left me in agony having to wait for the third book Vampire Hunt! I admire Tim O'Rourke's uniqueness and creativity. His ability to tell the story and keep you on your toes is superb! Love Love Love him!! I finished the first 2 books in just a couple of days because I just couldn't put them away. Halloween can't come soon enough for the next installment. I will be reading this series again and again. I love his mention of music in the book as it is some of my favs so I find myself singing along while reading. Elton John is my lifetime favorite artist and Adele as if there is anyone better!! :) Being a Texan I did have to adjust to the verbiage but this just makes it all more amazing.
For some reason this one took me a bit to get into. Probably because there is a small lapse in time (six months) and it's the first time you ever really see Kiera on her own. How is she coping with being sent to mandatory psych sessions to go back to active duty and her feelings about her therapist? How is she feeling about Luke, and the others too?
Then Kiera gets sent off on what really is basically a babysitting job, and the world kind of explodes about halfway through. From there, things just don't slow down, and Kiera continues to find out more about herself, as well as Murphy and Potter. Maybe more about Potter than she originally thought she wanted to know.
I just couldn't put this down - I finished within a few hours. I couldn't help myself.
Series One review soon to be up on Modern Elektra Editing
The continuation of Kiera´s story, and I loved it. I was so eager to progress in the story that I found I was pressing the page turn button on my kindle before I had finished reading the page. I became quite irritated with myself, but goes to show how much I was engrossed in the story. I only occasionally bother to download the second book in a series and think this is the first time I have made it to the third!! I have to find out what happens. I love all the characters (particularly Potter, sweet cheeks) and the way they are all continuing to evolve. Oh, I have one question that I can´t remember being covered yet (maybe it will come out later) The "vampyrus" what do they eat/live on when they go underground?? Kim
Vampire Wake is the second book in the Kiera Hudson series by Tim O’Rourke. I wasn’t sure if it was possible for the second book to be as good as the first. I was wrong. In the second book Kiera thinks she is getting a break away from her worries and problems only to find out she is put in the middle of an even worse situation than before. Kiera finds out more about the Vampyrus and in turn more about herself and her gifts. I loved this book. It was suspenseful from beginning to end. I often had to force myself to put it down and get other things done. I cannot wait to start reading Vampire Hunt. I would defiantly recommend the book. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
I have to say, after reading the first book, while I did like it I wasn't sure if I wanted to read another. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed book 2 more. I think in book 1 it was very confusing trying to figure out what was going on, but now that you know who and what everyone is, it just makes the story even better. I like Luke, I liked him in book 1, but even though Potter was so mean in book 1 something my mother used to say popped into my head, "Boys are usually mean to you when really they like you". I knew Potter was hiding something. Ready for book 3 :)
I read this book when it came out in 2011 but didn't realise I hadn't done a review. After Kiera flees from the Ragged Cove she finds herself looking after Lady Hunt's daughter, where we first meet Kayla. Where Kiera still has feelings for Luke but Potter comes onto the scene and makes her look at him in a totally different way, Yay Love Potter!! I've read all the books in the series so far and they're still as fantastic as this one and leaves us well not patiently but waiting for the next one to arrive!!
As a lover & addict of vampire stories I thought I had seen it all...... boy was I wrong. Its always refreshing to see someone breathe new life into a genre & flip it on its back. This is one of those series. Loved everything about it & the sequel was even better than the first one. Im actually finding myself falling for Potter LOL Im hoping he gets some more lovin in the next book, LOVE this series!!!!
I seriously love this guy! I thought I was a fan of Luke but now I'm like sorry Luke who??
Second in the series, which continues on from book one. Kiera is off the force and is employed by Lady Hunt to look after her troubled daughter Kayla. Potter, Luke & Murphy seem to have disappeared and Kiera is obsessed with finding them. Little does she know what's coming...
Excellent second book in the series by a fab author!
Surprising to me, I have really enjoyed this series so far. This is a great vampire story full of mystery. I like how Kiera "sees" things, yet it takes until the end for her to put all the pictures together and see what she had been missing for the whole picture. We ddn't hear much from Luke or Potter, but they were there all along, and I am anxious to see what happens between Kiera and them. This is one of the better vampire stories/series out there!
A good read. Alot different to other vampire series i have read. The imagination of the author is amazing. The way he writes can take you to the world described in the series. I was suprised at the feelings i have for the characters that i cheer on or hope will see a bloody end. The author has done for me what only one other series has done and that is to take me there and care about Keria and luke and thier friends. Well done i say. A great read!
OMG!!!! Excellent book! At first it sort of dragged because there was so much "extra" detail being given about things that seemed not important, like Kiera's therapist....however, once Kiera got to the Mannor the story quickly picked up it's pace and all those details started turning on those lightbulbs in my head.....OH! NOW I "SEE" IT! LOL AND! OMG! Totally didn't see the Potter thing coming AT ALL!!! WOW! I can't wait to start Vampire Hunt!!!!
OMG Tim! I couldn't put this novel down. Its been a while since I read the first one, but as soon as I started this I remembered the characters and fell in love with them all again. I think my favorites are Kiera and Luke, although Potter makes me laugh and Murphy at the end I actually got teary eyed.
I am going to go ahead and buy the next one and start it now.
Another great story in this series! Can't wait to start book 3. Really liked how she didn't just say "okay" that's how I am now, when she got more information about herself. She recognized that she didn't really know who she was at the moment and will need some time to figure it out. Nice twists and turns, some I saw coming but then the author added some heat in a different direction. Loved it!
This book continues with Kiera Hudson after she returns from Ragged Cove. I enjoyed this book much more than the first one due to the evolution of Hudsons character as well as others. Again, a very fast paced books and a lot of fun. I also enjoy the aspect of the Vammpyrus against the Vampires. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a fun, quick read.
Wow! I couldn't put this book down! All of your favorite characters are back in this book plus some new people. This is fun adventure filled mystery that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Looking forward to book 3!! Great series, must read. And the attraction between done of the characters will leave you hot.
