After Cilmeri #1.5

Winds of Time

Rate this book
Meg had thought that taking a commuter flight from Pasco, Washington to Boise, Idaho would be a simple matter. But nothing is simple for Meg when it comes to travel, and especially not when she finds herself in the Middle Ages again instead of in a plane crash on a mountain side in Oregon.

And when the pilot takes off without her in a quest to return to the twenty-first century, Meg will need every last bit of maturity and knowledge she gained in the sixteen years she spent in the modern world--to survive even a day in this one.

A note from the author: Winds of Time takes place between Part 1 and Part 2 of Footsteps in Time, Book One in the After Cilmeri Series. I think you will enjoy Winds of Time more if you read Footsteps in Time first. Diolch yn fawr (thank you)! --Sarah

This seems to me to just be a grab for $2 from all the people who enjoyed her series and were hoping for more. She calls it a novella and it really belongs right in Crossroads of Time where the events happen. I don't know why she felt it would not fit there. At least 1/3 of this novella is already in the book. She just expands on the time it took Meg to travel from where she landed in her little plane in Scotland back to Wales. She had some harrowing adventures and later has to explain some of it anyway, so I don't see why the author chose to do this. As I said, I think it was a way to get a little more money out of us, and it really wasn't worth it.

I have already read Crossroads in Time and Footsteps in Time. This 100 odd page book was set in the middle of Footsteps in time from the view of Marged. Where Footsteps in time was mainly from the viewpoint of the 2 kids this book explained how Marged came back to 13th centery Wales. They described this event in Footsteps as a great feet being she had to travel from England to Wales on her own, and being a woman, so being able to go through the journey with Meg was really interesting. I started reading the series with Crossroads so I fell in love with Meg and Llwelyn as a couple, even cried when Meg was taking back to the 21st centery during the labor, and was disappointed when the 2 weren't together in the first half of Footsteps, and then still a little disappointed when you never got a chance to see their side or see them together on their own. Especially when Meg returned we weren't able to see the couple alone since they would keep everything in check (emotions etc.) until they were in private. We only knew they were happy to finally be together. Footsteps was also very fast paced where as Winds brought back the detail and good pace, still fast paced since there was so much going on but the details were intact you didn't feel left out of any juicy details that you want to learn about. Being the third book I read in the series the Welsh in the book has gotten easier to read through. I hope their is more Meg and Llwelyn in the upcoming books becuase they are my favorite couple, even though I do like the other main characters as well. I also enjoyed getting to know how Meg and Aaron were able to meet, get to know each other, and watch them become friends. Going through the story with Meg was a treat, we all knew that Llwelyn was alive but according to her history he was not, so we were able to follow her and see the suspence build up trying to find out if he was still alive. Then to see if she would ever find him and if he still wanted her. Being able to read about her reactions and nervousness about the situation was quite realistic and great for the story, becuase it was a total different Meg from the first time she entered Wales.

Enjoying the remaking of history.....Short, but provides detailed information left out in Book one. Onto the next book in the series. I recommend this novella.

I am glad that I am reading them in order as otherwise this would have been confusing.

As the author states this was originally intended to be part of Book #1 of the After Cilmeri Series and I really feel that it should have been included in Book #1. However editors and publishers may disagree.

After just finishing Footstep in Time yesterday, I was disappointed in the disjointedness in the middle of that book. The arrival of Meg back in the 13th Century and who or why Aaron was with her was as if I had skipped two chapters. It took several minutes to even discover that Aaron was a physician banned for being Jewish. This short story/novella fills in the obvious gaps (chasms) and gives the reader a better introduction to the character of Aaron.

As others have said this novella also gives better insight into what an educated woman would feel like being tossed into a period where they were even more vulnerable to men. A further frustration was her realization that she had been somewhat insulated from this male condescension while she was previously with the prince.

As with the previous two books, the voice characterization was still very well done. I also agree with other who have reviewed the audio book for the narration. While the prose was much easier to follow, the narration seemed less practiced. Perhaps the narration task was easier because the story is all written from the viewpoint of Meg and there is very little Welsh to have to contend with. However, there seemed to be less emotion to the reading.

All-in-all, I am glad that I bought this as a part of a boxed audio book set from Chirp. I would have been disappointed to use an Audible credit for a 96 page (2-hour) book.

A continuation that holds my interest

I was surprised at how short this third book was. When anxiously starting to get into this next portion of the story I was not aware it was a bridge to bring Meg back into the continuing saga. Meg’s character gains depth, personality and substance in this solo adventure. It would be difficult to read as a stand-alone book without the background of Meg’s initial encounter and magical bonding with a Prince on the heels on an abusive marriage which she has invested great effort to endure, then to be left empty and emotionally bankrupt at finding herself a new widow. Time shifting and finding love in the Middle Ages may seem a trite fairytale however throughout their time together we glimpse the validity of what makes true love last. Woven into their story are trust, loyalty, dependability, engaging, faithfulness and fidelity. The shadows of truth whispering through the relationships portrayed throughout the story give uncommon depth to a premise of someone dropped into an unknown society who survives by drawing on inner values of good character.

Ridiculous

Of this is what we pay money for what a waste all it tells you how she got there. Ridiculous why because it was in the other book footsteps in time. If you have any sense don't buy it, all of it was in previous mentioned book just a total waste of money that's why I will be sticking to kindle unlimited for future books I'm just so angry this could have been included in footsteps in time instead of paying nearly two quid for a hundred pages if I'd noticed the amount I wouldn't have got it don't be conned nobodies 100 page book is worth it. magdg

In Winds of Time, Meg who readers meet in the prequel to the series After Cilmeri returns to Wales during the Moddle Ages and to Prince Llewellyn, but that is not all whom she meets, but if one wishes to know all, the book must be read. Actually it is a novella between book1 and book 2 in this series. I enjoyed it. My only wish is that it had been longer, much longer. 3 1/2 stars

I've read the first four books in this series. I don't know if I want to keep reading it. At first, I liked them a lot. Books 1 and 2 kept me turning pages. Then the prequel was nice to understand how everything began. But this novella , really .... Mmm.,, discouraged me to keep on reading. I'll give it a break and let's see if I'm into it again.

Very short

After purchasing the set of Footsteps of Time and Prince of Time, I thought it was necessary to purchase Book 3 Winds of Time to read between Book 2 and Book 4. Don't!!! It was a waste of money, that gave you nothing of importance to add to the set. I do like the stories.

This is a super short (100 pages) novella, but it was a good story on how Meg had come back the second time to 13th century Wales. Although I knew the story ahead of time it was still good to read. I wish it would have been longer and had more to tell, but it was still good.

Novella that fits in between books I and II of her After Cilmeri series. I found that reading her books in order helps keep things in order. Starting book II now - Prince of Time.

“Wind Of Time” is a 96 pages novella that follows Meg’s return to 13th century Wales many years after the events of “Daughter Of Time”(Prequel). If like me you are reading the entire series in chronological order, you must have previously read “Footsteps in Time” (Book 1) and wondering why Woodbury published a novel that narrates one of the events presented in the first book. Let me explain. Winds Of Time’s purpose in the series is to give readers a closer look into Meg’s journey back to Wales, but this time from her own perspective. As we follow our beloved time traveler, we learn what she felt, her doubts and fears, and which hardships she had to overcome to find her children and Prince Llywelyn. Winds Of Time is what you would call “a tasty snack” for all The After Cilmeri Serie‘ gluttons (And I raise my hand, for I am one), but also a good read for any newcomer to the series if interested in Meg’s personal experience during her journey back to 13th century Wales. Winds Of Time is short, true, and revisits what was already narrated in “Footsteps In Time” (although from David and Anna POVs), but serves its purpose. As always, Woodbury delivers a story that is not only well written but also packed with a few action bits, pretty descriptions, fantastic dialogues, and lifelike characters. There was nothing I didn’t enjoy about this short read, I loved hanging out with Meg as she returned where she truly belonged and I was thrilled to witness her personal reactions the moment she found herself before her children and lover. 4 Stars read!

This is a fairly useless little novella that tells us about Meg's journey back to her family. We got all of the pertinent information from her in the last book, but I gather this was written then and then published later as its own novella as like a little bonus, so that's fine.

The thing about these books is that I wouldn't be reading them if my friend's mom hadn't written them lol. I'm getting a kick out of them for that reason and that reason only. The writing is... pretty subpar. All of the characters have a bad case of exposition disease where they explain their behaviors in a very "time for me to narrate my life" kind of way that is not very naturalistic.

3.5 Stars • “Winds of Time," is a novella and the third installment in the "After Cilmeri" series by Sarah Woodbury. Meg, a time-traveling character, finds herself once again in medieval Wales after a plane crash. This time, she's alone and must navigate the challenges of the past with the knowledge and maturity she gained from her sixteen years spent in the modern world. The story explores Meg's struggle to adapt and survive in a world vastly different from her own, highlighting her resilience and determination. "Winds of Time" serves as a bridge between the events of "Footsteps in Time" and "Prince of Time," offering a deeper look into Meg's personal experiences and challenges during her journey back to the 13th century.

No no I don’t want to come back......

This book has helped to fill in some of the gaps from the previous book in the series. It is so incredibly detailed and well written that I don’t want to come back. Now I’m off through the veil of time to the next book. Thank you so much Sarah Woodbury for your fantastic writing skills.

It was fun to have Meg's story of her return filled in. Short read but good to know. It helps with what the next chapter of this story in Prince in Time, to know about the retrieval of Meg's 21st century items.

I'm into the time travel story. I feel like it's not as well-rounded as it could be, but I really like it overall. I almost gave it 3.5 stars but 3 stars is too few, and 4 too many. I'm diving into the others.

This series vaguely reminds me of The Green Mile, as each book in the series is only moderate (or as in the case with this one, short) in length, a pretty good stand alone story, and definitely enjoyable enough to continue.

I loved the first two books in this series. However, most of this novella, is contained in Book Two and is not necessary to spend your $$ on. This was a true disappointment.
