I had high hopes for this book, mainly because of how the first book had intrigued me and kept me on my tippy toes.
Here, Oona gets infuriating the more the book progresses. In the first book, her highlighted and helpful characteristic traits were able to aid her in solving the connected cases.
But now, it seems like her headstrong, stubborn, and curious traits have gotten the best of her and it's making her do foolish decisions and blinds her infamous judgement despite Deacon's warnings.
I found that the other characters were all amusing in their own way. Whether it be Deacon's amusing companionship (and the inside jokes they share throughout the story), Samuligan's strange but alluring presence or Inspector White's comical absurdity. They were enough for me to tolerate our heroine's .. uh teenage phrase.
I might also add that I like the chemistry brewing up between Adler Iree and Oona Crate's relationship. What might the details be? Well, read to find out.
Overall, if you're not a fan of main characters providing most of the problems in the story, then I suggest that this book ain't for you. But if the magical aspects of it lure you in. Then go for it.
