I'm a USA Today bestselling mystery/suspense/thriller author and a big horse and sled dog enthusiast.

My hunky husband and I ride our beloved draft cross horses way up in the frozen north of Snowheresville, WY, where we run a rustic, off-the-grid lodge on the face of the Bighorn Mountains. When I'm not writing or riding, I'm passionate about wilderness sports, always with a couple of rescue dogs, bear spray, a mountain lion knife, and my Judge. Best in the series without a doubt I've got so many Katie quotes. I love her
I loved book 1 and 2. This is the third and final installment for all the cozy mystery fans out there. I liked Katie as the high powered bloody mary drinking lawyer, and I cant tell you how she has grown in this book. The characters on St Marcos are priceless. Having met the voice of St Marcos in person I can picture him speaking and he is awesome by the way. The voice is actually panty melting. I say that here, but I was just staring at him in person. He is a Caribbean dream for sure!

So back to the island. Katie is on alert as usual. She seems nervous about this dead guy showing up at Annalise, but the author has mellowed Katie just a bit in the beginning of this book. She doesnt over think as much as she used to.

This one doesnt disappoint. So if you have not read the first 2 books, then please do it NOW. Nick is just such a character and he really compliments Katie. So this plot is starting out with some shady locals. I just adore the descriptive scenes in here! All hell breaks lose when Nick doesn't show up after work. There is trouble with the estate and some say that is is a burial ground. Even when you will be thinking this is creepy, there is a lightness that makes the plot so much more enjoyable. "All the dead men and women dem buried under this house" Holy shit run away and hide right? NOT Katie.

I have to say the opening scene with them looking for a pig is hysterical. The way they catch the big pig is a combo of Lucy and Ethel and maybe Abbott and Costello thrown in there too. Katie knows looking at Nick the pig did have the upper hand! All the while she is thinking about his white polo shirt.

Back is Collin and there is a Tamara. (He met her in Texas) When he admits he is going to get married Katie freakin out goes old school and twists his earlobe. I love her! I loved every aspect of the writing style from the suspense, the humor to the mystery. The story is great, the writing is great, so I say read it now!

Finding Harmony by Pamela Fagan Hutchins is a February 2013 release. I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Since we last visited Katie, she has become a mother to TWINS! Can you believe that? Wow! She and Nick are living in San Marco and doing the married life thing until a man is found dead in their driveway. Initially, suicide is the ruliing, but NIck and Katie do not think that is the case. They agreed to work on finding out what really happened to Eddy. But once they start asking questions, Nick becomes secretive and begins to shut Katie out.
To make things even worse, Eddy's wife, Elena is a very attractive and Katie is still battling baby weight, feeling a little frumpy. With Nick behaving oddly, and the rumor that Eddy killed himself as a message to Nick, Katie is trying really hard not to draw the wrong conclusion.
When Nick leaves one morning and never comes home, his cell and all other resources for communicating with him, gets no response from him, Katie knows beyond a doubt that he is in serious trouble. Enlisting the aid of her father in law, Katie goes in search of Nick. With the help of Annalise and some very vivid dreams, Katie begins to think she may know how to find him, but the chances that he is still alive are not too good. Will Kurt and Katie find Nick before it's too late?

This third and possibly final chapter in the Katie and Annalise series was the strongest in my opinion. The mystery of why Nick disappeared, why Eddy was murdered, and then the harrowing search for Nick will keep you on the edge of your seat. My palms were sweating I was so nervous. The author does a great job of creating this unbearable suspense. Katie is frantic. Her mind is telling her that Nick didn't just run away from home, that he is in terrible danger, maybe injured, but her heart is breaking because she knows he was dishonest with her and he shut her out of this investigation and she is told Nick as was worried about her weight. But, the dreams she is having helps convince her that Nick has uncovered the truth about Eddy's death and someone wanted to keep him quiet.
The plot Nick uncovered was really clever, and plausible. While I was all kinds of PO'd at Nick for putting Katie through everything he did, I was very proud of how Katie handled things. She was able to reign in her infamous temper, stay clean and sober under duress, and proved how very far she has come since we first met her.
The best part was that the mystery of Annalise is revealed and the ending is indeed wide open.

5/5 stars!!!
*I was provided a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review*

When I began reading the book, I found it somewhat difficult to get into and understand. I guess its because I didn't read the two previous books prior to reading this one. :( That might have actually helped me. But even with that, I would definitely recommend it.
I enjoyed reading about what they were able to overcome; everything that was thrown at them. How she managed to keep it all together was impressive. Believe me it was an enjoyable read.

After a couple of chapters, I was able to learn the characters Katie, Nick, the kids, figure out who Annalise was and really beginning to understand the story. I found the idea of their home being build on top of a cemetery really creepy. It was also quite scary that someone would be found dead in a vehicle right outside their driveway and the police not really be that supportive. Talk about a bad day!

Nick decides to investigate what really happened to Eddy(the man found dead in his car). Both him and Katie begin working on the case together. Nick then tells Katie that he doesn't want her involved and she begins to doubt....What is actually going on? What is going on with Elena Monroe (Eddy's wife)? In the midst of everything, her husband disappears and she decides to search for him. People are following her and trying to kill her.

At the same time as all of this is going on, she has to deal with the issues at home. The possibility of losing her house.

Good for her for keeping it all together. I really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it! I can't wait for the next book!

Finding Harmony is the third book in the Annalise Series I have read. I think it is the last in this series although I wish it wasn't. I kind of hope she will continue with this series. I do suggest you read this series in order as references are made to the prior books. The First book in the series is Saving Grace (click to see my review); the second is Leaving Annalise click to see my review. I enjoyed the first two books so much that when the author contacted me to ask if I would read and review the third-I immediately replied YES!!

I don't know how she does it but Pamela Fagan Hutchins manages to combine voodoo, mystery, suspense and romance and will have you laughing and wondering and truly getting into the story. The characters are just that, characters with a capital C . Some you will love, some you will just shake your head--but for sure you are going to love the ghost who inhabits the house and watches over the family!! I really can't say enough about this book and the previous two. These are all very quick reads simply because you will not be able to put them down. Her writing style will keep you entertained and the only thing I will say is--you will have to read this book to see how it all ends (f you read this Pamela Fagan Hutchins--PLEASE keep this series going!!) I reread the first two books (Saving Grace, Leaving Annalise) leading up to this Book #3, Finding Harmony so that I could just keep reading this yummy goodness all in a row. I do recommend you purchasing (and reading) the first two if you haven't yet. Finding Harmony is a continuation of the story of Nick and Katie and all the wonderful characters who people these books. You feel like you know these people personally! We continue the adventure, add more mystery, wonder at the most excellent Jumbie house, and enjoy the lovely, lovely Caribbean atmosphere. Pamela brings island living to life and you feel you've been living there all this time. I also love that Katie is so very real. None of this perfect heroine who can do no wrong and has mad ninja skillz. No, she is a very human woman who could be your best friend or even you (if you're a woman!). She faces the challenges thrown at her and reacts in a very real way when Nick goes missing - freak then do something about it. I love their love affair. I love this story. I love this author and can't wait until she writes more fiction! Hurry up!

This is the third book in a series that I did not want to end. Pamela keeps you reading, chuckling, and wondering what is going to happen next throughout the book. You just don't want to put it down because who knows what Katie will do next. Do yourself a favor and read Saving Grace and Leaving Annalise first so that you understand where the characters are coming from, and you will not be disappointed. I hope these characters show up in future series because I'm not ready to be done with them! Enjoy.

More Katie?... Yes Please ! My Favorite Author Never Disappoints!
I could not wait for book 3 in this series to come out so I could see what Katie had gotten herself into this time! Page after page I was enthralled. Full of mystery, suspense, island locals, Nick, that crazy house Annalise, lots of babies, and of course Katie is her loveable, relatable self. I LOVE the character Collin, Katie’s brother. He is my favorite character in Finding Harmony. He is very “Maverick,” and every girl would have a crush on him.

The third book by Pamela Fagan Hutchins in her Katie and Annalise series is more of the same, but that is oh so good! Katie seems to have found harmony with 3 kids, her husband, and her in laws all living in bliss at Estate Annalise. However, we have come to know Katie, and we expect the fates to have an incessant need to throw wrenches in Katie’s life. The sound of a gunshot near the gate of the estate leads to the discovery of a body in a car dead of said gunshot. The police are quick to write the incident off as a suicide. However the apparent suicide is an employee of a large oil company on the island that has a cult like hold on their employees. The company and the widow don’t believe it is suicide and hire Nick, the PI, to investigate. The second wrench is a crazy looking stranger showing up insisting that there are bodies of former slaves buried beneath the house and that they must make amends who dishonoring the dead. Harmony is not to be found on St. Marcos with the government now looking at the need to take Annalise away from Katie and her husband disappearing as he looks into the death of their guest at the gate.
Pamela has done it again giving us a fun, lively, and laugh out loud look at Katie’s life. We have seen Katie go from an alcoholic, unhappy, lawyer to a sober, loving wife and mother of 3. As we watch the twists and turns in Katie’s life we always hold our breath with her, and cheer as she mucks her way through the mess of her life. Welcome back to the island mon, have a Painkiller and settle in for a tale of Katie and Annalise!!

Finding Harmony is the third book in the Katie-Annalise trilogy. The first two books were great reads, and this one lives up to the standards set by its predecessors. In this book, Katie and her husband find a corpse at the gate of their home in the Carribean Islands, the result of an apparent suicide. They begin to investigate and bad things happen. Nick disappears and Katie must find him.

Katie’s come a long way since the first book where she was a failing Dallas lawyer with a drinking problem and a broken relationship with Nick. She is now a wife and a mother of three, and her character has grown and matured. Her old fears and insecurities still plague her but she has the courage and stability to overcome them.

This one is a page-turning, fast-paced read with intense excitement and suspense told in Pamela Fagan Hutchins unique writing style. The sentences seem to flow from her pen with ease, transporting you to the climate, culture, and characters of the islands and making you laugh out loud while confronting dead serious issues. I hope this is not the last we see of Katie, but if it is, this book provides a great ending to a wonderful series.

I have absolutely loved each book in the Katie & Annalise series. Finding Harmony may be my favorite but how do you pick a favorite among favorites? Like Saving Grace and Leaving Annalise, Finding Harmony is clever, funny and a page turner from the very beginning that I could not put down. I can’t wait for the next series by Pamela Fagan Hutchins!

Finding Harmony - a review by Rosemary Kenny

There's a lot going on in Finding Harmony (Katie #3), the conclusion of a fantastic trilogy by the illustrious Pamela Fagan Hutchins, in her, A What Doesn't Kill You series.
Best read in sequence to obtain background, Finding Harmony tells of MCs, Dallas lawyer and Mom of three kids, Katie and her PI husband, Nick, who have come to live in the British Virgin Island Paradise of St Marcos, on the gorgeous Estate Annalise, (haunted by a friendly spirit), with Nick's parents.

After the body of a man is found dead in a car outside their gates, Katie and Nick are hired by Petro-Mex, the victim's employers, to investigate, (as the police are uncooperative). Then suddenly Nick goes missing...

What do we learn about the history of the Estate Annalise, especially its location and the ghostly woman who appears there?
Was there more to Nick's alleged comment about Katie being slow to lose her baby-weight - has he left her for another woman?
Can Katie find Nick - assuming she wants him back? How does she feel towards her father-in-law and her elder brother during this difficult time?

So many mysteries and misadventures abound in this story, that you'll be completely fascinated throughout Finding Harmony. As Ms Hutchins' expertly drawn characters interact in a believable and engaging way, relationships and events develop at a thrilling pace that you're sure to love!

These stories are just so much fun, exciting and you can never guess where they are going to go! These mysteries have a little something for everyone. They are filled with humor, humanity, passion & adventure! In this latest installment Nick winds up missing and Katie has no idea why or where. The mystery unfolds, the search is on and the bad guys are hot on their trail! Of course Annalise lends her hand as she does and keeps Katie on the right track! When the pieces start falling together things get really scary and every one must work together or die trying! Even though this is a trilogy I know it cannot be the end of these great characters! I cannot wait to read what comes next from this awesome author!!!

Gah! This book was incredible! I literally could not put it down and devoured it in one day. Katie's search for Nick kept me on my toes until the very last minute, and my heart broke as hers did when she tried to keep it together. I can't imagine how I would feel if my man went missing, but I give Katie props for keeping her wits about her! She tried to figure out where the he** her hubby was until very last minute.

A few things I wish the book would have improved on: Katie's babies are only three-months-old, but the writer writes about them as if they are ten months. I wanted more written about Katie's connection with her babies, but the focus is on finding Nick (which makes sense). I do like how the book transitioned from Katie become a wife in the second book from being a mother in this book, but I still felt they could have focused on that more. Unlike the second book that focuses on Nick and Katie's relationship, this book is all about the suspense and mystery surrounding Nick's disappearance.

I also almost wanted a separate book written about the mystery surrounding Annalise and if indeed there were bones buried underneath her (I won't give anything away). I think a lot more could have gone into that, but the author did an excellent job with a recap relaid to Katie from the other characters.

I also wanted their dog Oso to be involved more, but it makes sense that he had to stay behind with the kiddos since he's so attached to Taylor, Katie and Nick's adoptive son.

Overall I LOVED the trilogy and was sad to say goodbye to these characters. You know it's an excellent book series when you don't want it to end!

SPOILERS: Katie's father in law drove me nuts in this book. I can't believe he called Katie fat! I was seriously pissed during that part. As a woman, I can relate to gaining weight (even though I haven't been pregnant), and poor Katie is already dealing with missing her husband. Then the stupid father in law has to say something about her weight. Seriously?! I'm glad that Nick cleared up that he didn't say that at all at the end. Whew!

I love that Katie was a dominant chick throughout this novel as well as she was the one who ultimately found Nick. It seemed unrealistic that Nick was only tired and dehydrated after being without food and water for 3 days (not to mention he was stuck on the ledge of a cliff most of the time), but I went with it. They had to high tail out of there to stop the cartel from blowing up the plant! Lol.

It's pretty funny when Katie is like "Umm we can't go there when we have kids!" even though she did an exceptional job of steering the boat and helping the guys conquer the bad guys.

I'm also glad that Annalise did not have bones underneath the house. I'm also glad they provided more back story about the ghost who rescued Katie in book 2 when she was down below in the cistern (scary!) and Taylor in book 2 as well when he could have drowned. I love that the woman that Katie was seeing was named Grace (how appropriate) and that they decided to leave it up to the government on what to do with the cemetery and land above Annalise. I LOVE the idea of a historical spot where people can overlook the ocean.

Nick was a realistic character who wasn't perfect and he should have communicated with Katie better. I'm glad they made up at the end and I think they will make a great lawyer and investigator team going forward!

I think the author should make another trilogy just about Annalise and the slave and her daughter Grace that lived in the mansion! That would be a great book series. (hint, hint).

Katie and Nick are married and have three young children (twin babies and they have adopted Nick's nephew ... his sister had recently died). They live on the Caribbean island of St. Marcos in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Katie had moved there from Dallas three years ago after she fell in love with her house, Annalise, a jumbie (as in voodoo spirit) house. Nick's parents, Kurt and Julie, also live with them.

After they discover a man dead in a car of an apparent suicide at the bottom of their driveway, Nick and Katie (who are investigators) are hired by the guy's large corporation employer to find out what happened. A couple days into the investigation, Nick disappears. With the help of Kurt, Collin (Katie's brother), Annalise and Katie's dreams of Nick giving her messages, they set off to find Nick.

Though this is the third in the Katie & Annalise series (I'd read the first one, Saving Grace, last year and liked it), it also works well as a stand alone. The author captures the flavour of the island well with the dialect in the conversations, traditions (the book starts out with Nick having to catch a pig for the christening party of their twins), islanders versus non-islanders, etc.

There was lots going on with the suicide, Nick's disappearance, the discovery that Annalise might have been built over a slave graveyard, etc. I found this book to be more serious than the first one which is to be expected, I guess, considering Katie is now married, is a mother of three and has acknowledged her dependence on alcohol.

Having a voodoo house that protects them and getting messages in her dreams from Nick about his whereabouts gives what could have been a standard mystery an extra interesting kick.

Very good, safe beginning- twiddling my thumbs, because starts out so safe; Katie is married to her dream guy, with children living in St. Marcos with the in-laws and 3 kids, but things start to get dicey when the her dream husband lies to her and ends up missing. Her brother shows up, and the father in law and Katie all go out on an excursion in search of him. A little slow during the search, but kept me reading. Of course, everything ends up tied in a nice neat bow and then you get curious for the other happenings around the island and the backstories with the other characters. Nice job in concluding the Katie romantic mystery series, and a good transition into the next books. 4 stars for slow at times, but still enthralling, and then it gets quick moving again. Very good book.

Enjoyed Annalise and the jumbie house. The plot was good and slightly different -- I didn't know that Mexico has oil refineries on Caribbean Islands (of course this is a fiction book so that may not be true). Too much whining from Katie even if she does have post partum depression. Also too much of Katie's hygiene fetish and talk about losing the weight gained from babies, adds nothing to plot development. Why did Nick's parents move in with Nick and Katie? Ava got pregnant and birthed a daughter -- would have appreciate a bit more information. Katie and Ava are singing together again but there is animosity -- maybe more information about this? I like that the series has ended and is not dragged out ad infinitum!

Watching Katie and Nick's relationship evolve was very satisfying, although I found myself wanting to shake some sense into both of them. Having the added element of Nick's parents gave another level of depth to the story that I think all married women can relate to in one way or another. The paranormal reached all new heights in this story, and I truly enjoyed it. My favorite moment was probably the simple, "I am not crazy." I also liked the end connecting all of the 'graceful' dots throughout the series. All in all, the end to a wonderful 3-book set, which I am very glad I chose to purchase all at once!

This was a bittersweet read, knowing it was the last of the Katie mysteries. It continued to deliver though, and had me swept up in the jumbie of it all, suspending disbelief with Katie, one of the most relatable heroines I've read, paired with her equally believable (through being completely frustrating!) husband.

If you're looking for an engaging and lighthearted read, I strongly recommend this series.

I don't give 5 stars out very often but I would have given this book a 10 star if I could have. The first three books in this series should all have a 10. Love, love, loved the series so far. This book has so much happening that it was hard to stop reading and go to sleep. Fantastic story, great writing. I think I will reread all 3 again that's how much I liked them.

Oh my goodness, there is just too much going on to even begin to try and do this book justice. A dead guy is found at the end of the driveway in his car. No one knows who he is but they soon learn he was employed at the local Petro-Mex, located on the island. Petro-Mex has it's own compound with housing, stores and everything anyone would need. They do not interact with the locals. The company hires Nick and Katie to find out what really happened, but they are threatened and warned off by the local police. Nick starts to keep info away from Katie and then he disappears. His parents have moved to the island and live with Katie and Nick and their three children. All are worried when Nick disappears along with their private plane. Many intrigues ensue and Katie and Nick's dad take off to try to track down, Nick, this missing plane, or any information they can find. Although they do find some info, they are constantly being followed and a young man who talks to them ends up dead. Katie's brother, a law enforcement officer, flies to the islands to help them look. What happens after that is the stuff adventures are made of. Oh, while they are tracking down Nick, the local policia are claiming Annalise is built on top of a sacred graveyard and are saying they are going to take over the property. An exciting, tense, but always rewarding tale in the What Doesn't Kill You ... series.

I have listened to the previous books in this series and this book is by my favourite one so far. It contains the perfect amount of mystery, suspense, super natural and romance to make it a perfect blend of harmony. You don't need to have read the previous books to follow along but I think it does help to explain the relationships between the characters and more importantly the house, which I just love. A ghost taking on the bad guys by not letting them into the house or throwing thing's is great fun. If you don't like syfy stories you can still enjoy this book as it only plays a small part in the story.
Nick and his wife Katie start to investigate a dead body that turns up on there drive way, with three young children in the house and him owning his own private investigation agency, they have no choice but to investigate when the police rule it a suicide. Being hampered at every step it is obvious that something serious is going on and Nick goes it alone. When he doesn't return home when he is expected Katie starts a man hunt, with the help of her father in law. Things take them in an unexpected direction where they are not only fighting for Nick but also to save there own lives when the guns start blazing.
I really like the narrator for this series of books and love the way she switches between American and Island talk.

Do you have that friend who keeps making decisions that get her into deep trouble? That's how I feel about Katie, the main character in this book. She is an attorney turned islander. And yes I feel like she is my friend. I am so invested in this series and this narrator does a great job in making me believe that Katie is talking to me, sharing her crazy adventures. In this book she is married with three small children. She is trying to live a normal life in her pretty much haunted house called Annalise. But nothing in her life is ever normal. All of a sudden she has a missing husband and people are out to kill her. She also has a crooked cop trying to threaten her and her family to get what he wants. Katie, Katie, Katie... This is a whole new adventure for her. She should forget calling herself an attorney. She is a straight up detective! And this book has a mystery that is deadly. I'm not giving away details. Go experience this book. I guarantee you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time like I was. I really had no idea what was going to happen next! All I can think is what is Katie going to get herself wrapped up in next. I am looking forward to finding out.

Trouble finds Katie no matter if she's looking for it or not. A body shows up outside the gate of Annalise and someone comes to the door, claiming that the house is built on a cemetery. Nick's new client turns out to the be employer of the dead man.

Nick disappears and Katie, with the aid of her father-in-law begin a search for him. Did he run away with the sexy widow of the dead man? With the aid of Annalise and Nick, who comes to Katie in dreams, the search is on for Nick - or his body. Then there is word of terrorists and potential kidnappers, and people wishing to harm the kids.

This book is non-stop adventure. Very exciting and interesting. I have enjoyed all of the author's books, but this series has captured me even more than the others.

I listened to the audio version of the book, which is narrated by the author. She did a great job with the narration and the story telling. This is my honest review.
