Searching for treasure, Jewel Sanderson, the daughter of a notorious pirate, teams up with Nolan Kenton, a man who claims to have known her father, and as passion rages between them, Jewel discovers that Nolan has a secret agenda. Original.
My name is Cheryl Howe and I’m a historical romance author trying to balance the demands of the writing life with everything else. I’m on a journey to heal my body, mind and spirit and be at my creative best. I live in Southern California with my husband, two dogs, a cat, a bird and a very British mother-in-law who lives down the street.
This was my first trashy romance novel- and honestly it was better than I expected. Took wayyy too long for the male lead to stop being an a-hole, I felt bad for Jewel for most of the book
Working as a bar maid in Charles Town, SC, Jewel Sanderson patiently waits for the return of her pirate father whom she hasn't seen in five years. All she has of her father (besides his genes) is a coded map to a hidden treasure. Nolan Kenton tries to buy the map from Jewel. She won't give it to him unless he agrees to take her with him for the hunt. Nolan must fight his attraction to Jewel because secretly he's responsible for her father's death. When they discover her father is in fact alive and as cold-blooded as ever, Jewel is torn between the two men who are bound and determined to kill each other.
I was kind of leaning towards giving this just 1.5 stars but I decided to be generous. The sex is pretty hot so that's worth a half star. Nolan isn't much of a pirate. He needs more swash in his buckle. I mean, what 18th century pirate says, 'I've set the parameters of our relationship'? That sentence alone is enough to make Blackbeard roll over in his grave (if he had one).
This was my introduction to the world of trashy romance and will always hold a place in my heart. Re-reading it years later I can recognize its failings, but the sex is still hot.
