After a frightful flight that involved an onslaught from a flock of Berguinon, Melphiera and Aristide finally arrive in Middlaeg, a fortress city that is the home to the Duke of Galbraith. Now safe and sound, Melphiera is shocked by her bedraggled appearance and Aristide arranges for the Blanche Corps--a unit of lady knights--to assist her. Will Melphiera receive approval in this new land?
The Melphie and Aristide moments in this volume were literally everything, especially the last few panels with the sirius!! I loved this volume as a whole but it was really confusing at times. There have been lots of new characters introduced in a really short span and everyone looks so similar (other than Melphie).
MF, romantasy, royalty, heroine must marry or become nun, monster hunters, cooking montage
This series continues to be a pretty consistent 4-5 star read for me every volume. I definitely think the story is less exciting than the first volume but at least now we can see their romance blossoming.
I still think volume 1 was the best so far, but each volume after has been consistently of the same quality, if not sometimes confusing.
This one takes the relationship development at a glacial pace, but Melphie is being introduced to more people, so that's good.
RECAP: knights and her tools, learn about a monster fruit, Duke goes to handle the birds again, she extracts the monster energy from the fruit, it's delicious, she jokes about leaving and Duke was eavesdropping. He rescued a dog and they end the volume eating fruit and petting the dog.
I will say that the time and effort put into the covers of this volume (and especially backgrounds) is a stark contrast to the art used within the book. It reminds me of the comic book industry in America, in which a cover artist such as JG Jones or Clayton Crain is used, but the interiors are much different. This is not to say interior art is not good…it is just a stark contrast of detail compared to the poster level beauty on the covers. Okay, onto the review of this volume!
Once I realized that there were a bunch of floating eyes and faces, this series started to grate on me like the series Midnight Secretary. Why can you just draw a tiny person? Why all the floating single eyes or half faces with words next to them?
I’ll see how I feel after volume 6, but I’m probably not gonna continue this series…..
Got my grubby little mits on book 5! This is a very soft volume in a very soft series, I love how we get to see Melphie bonding with her new friends & settling in a tiny bit to her new home. Adorable all around + this one has a puppy!
Finally meeting other characters in the Duke's kingdom and fruit monster food. See the first arc of the story slowly wrapping before a new arc starts. Looking forward to see the progression of the two love birds. Curious if they get to keep the puppy that is the symbol of the Duke's region.

Their love story is everything to me, it’s so cute and so wholesome. I love that everyone is slowly supporting her and her research. Also whoo! 200th book this year!
