I feel so conflicted about this...😅😅😅

I LOVED the beginning! I thought it was extremely funny and was like YOU TELL THEM LETICIA while she freed herself from princess lessons and the (who appeared to be) cheating prince! I was happy for her and with every declaration she made of how excited she was to completely leave the prince and the castle, I felt myself all the more happier!

However, when the Prince chased her down and FORCED her to come back, there were only so many incidents I could laugh about before I started thinking this young man had no right to FORCE Leticia to marry him.

And that's where my struggle begins.

I get the backstory and his love for Leticia is supposed to show that he was only being forceful because he felt there was no other way to get her attention. HOWEVER!

Why is it LETICIA'S fault if she does not want him to touch her or flirt with her and therefore cause him to potentially be at a "breaking point" where he uses force? Why is there a need for her to to be told that if she continues to "act out" and then next time he may not be as gentle with her? And why are other women saying that no wonder he's doing what he's doing because she simply is being insufferable and IS acting out?

That message doesn't sit well with me and I feel like with how often we see and are reminded of the Prince's deep love for her, I'm supposed to overlook and forgive his actions because "they come from a good but desperate place."

I loved the art and loved Leticia but I thought it unfair he took away her favorite and closest maid "because she may try to help you escape the castle" and kept confining her. (Like to the point that he put bars on her windows so she couldn't break them and escape...) Not only that but he also expected her to be okay with "lovey-dovey" situations and not feel uncomfortable despite being forced to stay in the castle against her wishes. Like what?!

I feel bad because I don't like being overly critical, but with the gorgeous cover and the news of an anime, I was really excited and looking forward to reading this one. It unfortunately did not match up to my excitement past the beginning. I want to say I'll give it another shot, but why do I need to excuse the Prince's actions simply because he's the lead and he has a cute face?

This had its fair share of funny moments. However, I found it difficult to fully enjoy the manga due to its problematic portrayal of the forceful marriage aspect, which overshadowed the humor and charm of the story.

Though funny and cute, I completely understand the controversy around this, and why so many readers took issue with it. It has dark romance tropes in a comedic setting, which not everyone is going to like. But I still enjoyed it. Clarke is clearly in love with Leticia, and what he loves about her is her spirited nature, so he isn't trying to change her. There are plenty of moments played for laughs, but this doesn't detract from some of the softer moments, and the ones that are present are very sweet. For her part, Leticia has repressed much of who she is, so I'm eager to see her rediscover both herself and some possible former feelings for the prince that she may have also hidden.

Prince Clark could easily be a bot on c.ai with the way he just appears out of nowhere and grabs her by the wrist/drags her back.

Leticia's engagement to the crown prince was finalized when she was a child. Ever since, she's taken "princess lessons" to make her into the ideal future queen. Truthfully, Leticia hates the lessons and how caged her life has become; she yearns for freedom from the weight of her duties. When Prince Clarke shows up to a ball escorting another woman, Leticia is certain that she's finally escaped her engagement... but she has no idea how deeply Clarke feels about her.

Hmmm. I love a good romance fantasy. I read a ton of webtoons and manga, and hadn't ever heard of this one (not surprising; the genre is super saturated) but figured that if it was popular enough to warrant an English translation, then it was worth the shot. So far, I'm hesitant about this story--2 stars.

This volume collects the first 10 chapters of the manga (plus a side story). Readers meet Leticia, who longs to break off her engagement, and Clarke, who cares for her but has never managed to make her see that. What gave me such pause was that Clarke is... stalker-y? Literally, the entire volume compromises of Leticia trying to escape and Clarke, her brother, the maids, and everyone else stopping her and telling her that she's so lucky he cares for her so deeply.

It's weird, because it's not even a dark romance--nothing extremely untoward happens (though Clarke does do the whole "you don't know how much I'm holding myself back" trope), but it just left me really unsure if I could like this story. Clarke seems to (at least marginally) respect Leticia's ultimatum on touching her/spending time with her, so it doesn't seem like he's a total lost cause, but still. I know that this is going to turn into a sappy love story, because that's how the genre works. And maybe there really is a lot of miscommunication and Clarke isn't as much as a creep as he seemed, but this one left me feeling awkward.

Soooo conflicted with this one. On the one hand, I looooove Leticia. Great active heroine. She makes plans and sees them through. Plus, she's adorable.

Clarke is insanely attractive, but the plot... Oof.

Poor Leticia wants freedom, and she nearly has it, but it is snatched from her again and again. Spoilers -- it is because Clarke actually adores her and can't live without her. But no one is thinking of what Leticia wants. It's all but he looooves you (he does), while disregarding that because of that, she has suffered for a decade. Acknowledge her pain, people!! Don't just go, poor Clarke, he loves her and she doesn't get it!

And in the end when it's revealed he has 'tried everything' to get her to fall for him, um no he hasn't. If it took ten friggin years for princess lessons to be cancelled, he didn't try everything. Had he even tried reducing them, then she would not have been miserable, or as miserable, for a decade, starting from when she was SEVEN.

Again, my poor baby Leticia.

And her brother can go to hell. Basically selling his sister for power. I hope your glasses break and you fall into a well.

I'll probably continue because I love Leticia, but oof.

This book is weird. If you go into this book thinking you’re getting a slow burn romance where the female leads boundaries are respected and they eventually grow closer, you are dead wrong. If you go into this book thinking your getting a slow burn where the female lead is forced into something she doesn’t want and just wants to be free while the male lead is obsessively in love with her and do anything to keep her with him, you’d be right. This book is quite an acquired taste and can be a little hard to get behind but I liked it. 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️

how cute and sad poor Leticia was so carefree and happy than princess lessons. I wonder how much truth is in these lessons and stupid rules these poor girls have to learn.
