I liked this book. Tried to read a story from it every night so that I could be a little more positive the next day. It's a good reminder that even when things seem down, you are able to overcome them and smile and still enjoy life. A lot of the stories got me thinking, and made me thankful for the things I have. A good read when you need a little pick-me-up.

This is truly a phenomenal book. I recommend it to everyone, old enough to read a book. Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive has 101 Inspirational Stories about counting your blessings and having a positive attitude. This version is extremely appealing to me. I often try to keep a positive attitude, but I find that as I get older and experience more trauma in becomes more difficult. I started to read this around Feburary, then I abandoned it for a while. I started reading this again when my grandma was hospitalize the first week she arrived in America. She was diagnosed with a flesh eating bacteria, that ate almost half of her body. It was the biggest wake up call and the scariest moment in my life because I never experienced someone so close to me be in their death bed. There were so many commotions and stress, that I don't know who to run to anymore. I started failing my classes and loosing friends. So I found this book under my bed, and I never put it down. I brought it with me everywhere I went, and read at least 5 stories a day.
This book has nothing to do with love, sex or violence. It was more of a book full of story lessons people face each day and how we can over come the obstacles. My personal favorite would be chapter 5: Counting Your Blessings, because this made me realize no matter what happened to my grandma, I should look at the brighter side that I am lucky to have met a person who can change my life. Honestly, I think this is a great book for anyone who is struggling with life. Someone who may not want to talk to people about their feelings, but I think this book has the answers to all.

I usually like this kind of books, but this wasn't the case. The problem I have with it is that it's really long and perpetuates some dangerous opinions. I understand that it was supposed to be for people to read amazing stories and see the benefits of positive thinking. It's great idea, but the result isn't great.

The book is divided into several sections based on the problems that the people in them faced and some of the sections feels like a constant variation of the same story. Which makes sense, because if you have an entire section of health problems, there's only limited amount of outcomes you can have, especially if you're writing only about the ones where people find a positive way to deal with it all. And when you feel like you're reading the same story again and again, you get annoyed, not positive.

Some of the stories were also annoying on its own. For example, there is a story told by a woman, where she talks about our current culture of borrowing money we don't have to buy things we don't need. She goes on and on about the little house the have, that it's tiny and broken, but they are happy, because they don't need several jobs to buy things they can't afford and that they are happy and don't need more things just so they can have as many things as other people and so on. And at the end of it, she says that thanks to not spending so much, they paid back the loan for the house several years before its time. Seriously?! You go on and on that loans are bad and you don't need to borrow money to get things you can't afford and it all feels like you're trying to persuade yourself and then you say you actually had loan for the house...

I also didn't like the recurring themes of "doctors are bad" and "don't you dare having negative thoughts". Lot of the stories had this tone that doctors don't know what they're doing and with positive attitude you can help yourself much more then they can. The second theme was even worse. I get that this is a book about positive thinking, but it presents any negative thoughts as absolutely bad, regardless of the situation. The people in the stories couldn't grieve without it being labeled as self-pity. Anxiety was painted as something doctors prescribe you addictive medication, which pissed off, because that's exactly the way mainstream society sees it, but it's not entirely true and it's harmful to perpetuate this. And don't get me started on depression, again, it was self-pity, selfishness, something that people need to get rid off, it's bad and you shouldn't feel that way. As a person suffering from both anxiety and depression, I was getting really annoyed with this attitude, because I'm absolutely sick of people thinking I can snap out of depression. Instead of shaming the people in the stories for being depressed after stressful experience (sudden loss of job for example), they should have acknowledged that certain amount of negative thoughts is normal.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend this book. The repetitive stories are exhausting and it perpetuates many myths and attitudes that are harmful to people living with mental health issues or just going through a really rough time in their lives.

We have to look at the positive of life. Photographs are positive prints not the negative or black n' white. I have been reading Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive a lot this last week too. Seeing how others are looking at the good in life. Loving that I am counting my blessings. Thrilled that I have Dear at home with me in the evenings and weekends. This last weekend he was here to see his Grandbabes when they visited. Like so many will say, it is that you have food on your plate not that the food is not the richest there is. A blessing is just that, blessed. A gift from a friend, family member, stranger even, A gift that has made your life richer. It may be that you take the time to see those beautiful leaves swirling around you showing off the beautiful colors of the changing season. Or that you have the ability to take time to rest with your family around you. Of course we all want the windfall blessings. But if we remember to think positive then we will start seeing all that is in our lives making us 'richer' and happier.

Chicken Soup for the Soul kembali menyajikan sajian menentramkan melalui "Berpikir Positif".

(hal. 452)

Seri Chicken Soup for the Soul selalu berhasil menjernihkan pikiran dan menentramkan hati pembacanya dengan menekankan betapa pentingnya rasa syukur.

I started reading this book in August last year, with hopes that it will bring a positive perspective and lift my spirit with inspiring stories, and it did for the first month through the book. Then, Oct. 7th happened. The whole world, not just mine, have changed. I stopped reading, because no matter how positive the stories were, they would do me no good at all as I'm watching my city, Gaza, turned into ashes, and my Palestinian people became displaced, humiliated, starved, and killed. I went back to the book several months later, only to finish it no matter what. And I was right. The impact of the stories I read was so light in comparison to what's been happening in Gaza. The stories of illness, loss, and hardship in the book were humble in comparison to genocide, deliberate starvation, and lack of food and medicine altogether. It may not be the fault of the stories, but because what was happening in my real world in parallel was unprecedented and heavier than the ability of any positivity book to make me feel any better.

These stories were quite short, each only two or three pages. I was reading them a few at a time , every night! Alot of them were very inspiring and helped me feel better especially when I was getting down. I enjoyed reading them, and think alot of people would enjoy it as well.

I listened to this on audio CD. It lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, which means it only has about 3 or 4 of the 101 inspirational stories claimed by the title. I did not buy this new, so I'm not sure if there were more CD's that went with it, or if it was sold the way I got it from PaperbackSwap.com. All in all, they were great stories and inspirational. I would recommend this book, however short it may be.

That's my story, story #5 - page 11 : ) Probably the most pivotal moment of my life thusfar. Still cry whenever I tell this story. But I give this book 5 stars because I love me some Chicken Soup and this one is my absolute favorite. It's about feeling grateful, finding grace, and we can all use some of that most days.

Five stars, just because I believed there are stories in this book that can change or push me to be the better person I always hope for.

But first, all I've got to do is think positive, be positive, move forward and remember, be thankful to every little blessings that come into my path.

Alhamdulillah, is the key :)

Oh well! Finally! After months passed (red- 2 months 😋) its done! Almost 3-4 years only stayed in my bookcases (almost forgot that I have this book.lol). This book is really good and nice one. No matter how many stories that I read, it always gives me a good lesson of my own story. Chapter by chapter made me realized that being positive is a decision. Btw, this book theme is about think positive based on grace and faith. And there are so many different aspects included. If you have some free time just read this book. Very recommended! As always, right? No doubt, it’s the Chicken Soup for The Soul 😉.

After so many “turbulence”, there is no coincidence that I am reading this book and enjoy the moment of my me time. I am so grateful to read this book. It’s heartwarming and refreshing for the soul. 🤗

Like all of the other “Chicken Soup” series books I have read, I REALLY enjoyed this one as well. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the others too. But I have found that I have read (or at times re-read) these books at different stages in my life. Which I find is one of the best things about this ever expanding series. They have books for everyone, dog lovers, cat lovers, older (I meant to say wiser) people, kids, tweens, teenagers, the list goes on and on...Thanks again to all of the contributors and a special THANKS to Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Amy Newmark, you have created a series of books that will literally go on FOREVER!!!

I have read a few of these books in the past and really enjoyed them. Quite recently I thought that I would like to read more. This title was the one that really appealed to me and I was certain that I hadn't read. I have to say that I was overall quite disappointed. A lot of the stories were very similar. They were mainly stories about people who were faced with a life changing illness and found a way to turn their lives around and be positive. My favourite story was the one about the lady who could not have children. I will read more in this series but research the titles more thoroughly.

Seems like you entered a hospital filled with people having the worst medical conditions ever.
The book instead of being positive takes us to an information world where you get to know 1000 and 1 medical condition, which makes one feel as if you or your loved one gonna have that someday. All the stories not even single is addressing any issue apart from medical problems. Not recomended untill you want to be a doctor of understanding what all kind of medical problems exist. Scary.

The book is good and full of lots of inspiring stories and a right reading in this difficult time. However, the translation is sooooo bad that i can’t stand to read some of the stories because it just doesn’t “connect” to me.

Sadly i bought 2 other translated chicken soup book by the same translator 😢

It's been almost a decade since I read the original Chicken Soup and I remember enjoying it so I thought I would give this one a go. The stories range from people losing a job they didn't seem to care about to truly traumatizing and sad. Definitely more religious than I remember the original one being, but, for the most part, doesn't distract from the stories themselves.
