At eighteen, Melissa seduced her best friend Julia's brother only to run away shortly after. While Daniel was her fairytale prince, Lissa didn’t believe in happy ever afters.
Ten years and a near death experience later, Lissa is ready for a husband and family. But a cry for help from Julia puts that dream on hold. Daniel is acting weird and he’s about to marry his long term girlfriend—AKA The Evil One. Someone needs to save him.
Daniel has never stopped loving Lissa. Ten years ago when he gave her a little freedom, he always intended that one day they would be together. Right up until the moment he was bitten by a werewolf. Now, Daniel has to hide what he is. He won’t risk anyone else, especially the woman he loves.
But Lissa is back. Their attraction is stronger than ever and Lissa is nothing if not tenacious.
Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.
Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.
Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

4 - "Come on Danny. For one night, pretend I'm your princess." Stars.
I really enjoyed Operation: Saving Daniel already being a fan of Nina's contemporary romances, I am happy to say her PNR writing style is just as enjoyable.
I loved the characters, their development, the pace and the fact that their story initially began a decade ago. This is a pretty quick read, but the story didn't feel rushed. Daniel Melville *Swoons can put his paws on me anytime!
"Were you always this beautiful? How did I ever walk away?"
This is one of those stories that you start looking for a few hours of escapism, and finish knowing it will be a book you are most likely to read again and again.
"I wanted you to know... I love you. I always loved you."
Straight onto book 2 of the Melville Sisters series for me!
As promised - here's another review of the awesomeness that is Nina Croft! I so want to grow up and be Nina Croft. She's just plain awesome.
Lissa's a great character, a complete package. She's smart, she's relatively tough, she's strong-willed and never once, throughout the course of the book, does she have a "too stupid to live" moment. It could have all too easily ended up that way, but while she's determined not to run away when Daniel tries to send her away as the dangerous mounts, she's not incredibly idiotic about it and I appreciate a heroine like that.
Now for Daniel. Somehow, when reading the description of the book, I completely overlooked a single word: werewolf. I had absolutely no clue (I blanked out the fact that Covet's contemporary with a paranormal twist line) that there would be any non-human critters roaming around until Daniel's thinking about how he became a werewolf. Um, oops? It's great that Daniel wasn't born a werewolf, and in fact I suspect no one's really born a werewolf any more, given the notion at the end that werewolves tend to miscarry because they have to change forms in the middle of the month.
He took what could have been a horrible situation, and he really wasn't happy about it, and instead worked to better his situation rather than just letting life happen to him. The wolf pack is led by an evil wolf of a man who's using Daniel's loyalty and protectiveness toward his family against him to make him use his brain to find some sort of immunity to silver for werewolves. Daniel's not so happy about that and has formed a plan to challenge the Alpha for leadership when he's ready.
And then comes Lissa. He's never gotten over her after she seduced him on his 20th birthday, though he's long buried those feelings. She's never totally gotten over him, and in fact had come back to finally get him out of her system once and for all. Of course life's never that easy, and there's the whole werewolf mess to deal with on top of their feelings issue.
I've never wanted a character to die as much as I wanted the villainess in this piece to die (the sister of the wolf who changed Daniel). She poses a huge threat to the two, both emotionally and physically.
Ultimately, I like the resolution that Ms. Croft brings her hero/heroine to, and think that all the characters got exactly what they deserved in the end. I hope to see other books in this same basic series. After all, there are some new werewolves that could use some mates! Thanks again Ms. Croft and Entangled. I love these books!
Well I can safely say of I want an easy-read sexy romance, regardless of genre, Nina Croft is now one of my go to authors. I'm no stranger to her contemporary hotter offerings, but this was the first paranormal romance I have read by her and I loved it.
On his 20th birthday, Daniel Melville had his virginity seduced out of him by his younger sister's best friend, Melissa Jackson. The following day she left. Ten years later and Daniel is about to announce his engagement to The Evil One when Lissa reappears to assist his sisters in Operation Saving Daniel. But she doesn't find the lanky, slim, bespectacled, studious young man she loved and left. No he is long gone, replaced by a gorgeous, wealthy, buff hunk of a man. With a secret. One that if he exposes endangers his family and Lissa...
“Did you know, that werewolves have superhuman strength? And amazing stamina. I could keep this up all night if I wanted to.”
Mucky pup. Lovely.
The chemistry between them is undeniable; this couple are soul mates whether Daniel wants to accept it or not. He's honourable, protective, sexy and stubborn, but Lissa is as equally stubborn and she'll not give up without a fight. The action side of the story was so easy to visualise and with moments that are passionate and intimate combined with those that are frustrating and touching, even if PN romance isn't your thing, I would recommend. I hope there is more, as with fabulous secondary characters there is definitely scope.
For being a Paranormal Romance, Operation Saving Daniel was pretty light on the "paranormal." I mean, Daniel is a werewolf and the ultimate showdown was between him and his pack leader. But most of the build up was Lissa trying to seduce him away from his awful fiancee, and Daniel pretending to be this emotionless robot.
Ten years ago, Lissa and Daniel had one special night together before she ran off. Now, she's back and hopes to get him out of her system for good. I'm not sure how seeing him again after so long is suppose to accomplish that, but okay. The man she finds is certainly not the same one she left a decade ago, but she can tell that something about him isn't right. Meanwhile, Daniel is caught in an engagement of convenience (or so he says) with an awful woman, but he really has no say in the matter if he wants his sisters to live. Of course, all of this is backed by the fact that Daniel and his fake fiancee are werewolves, but the plot could have been exactly the same if they were human.
Once the paranormal elements of Operation Saving Daniel kicked in, it was nearly over. All of the excitement in crammed into the last quarter-or-so, and one of the big bad wolves is killed off the page! That was majorly unsatisfying. At least Lissa and Daniel got their happily ever after...
This was not your average shapeshifter romance and I've read quite a few of them. What I found different and amazing about this story is that Nina brings reality to fantasy. Yep, most of the time in a PNR read you have a little bit of the over the top sentimental easy fixes. Hero has issues , Heroine also. Hero may have to save Heroine from harm blah blah blah. They have hot sex, they have a crisis and then make up and ride off into the happy ever after. Well, not Daniel and Lissa. No..from the first moment this was a not so happy ever after type story. Lissa gives Daniel a 20th birthday present any guy would die for. She takes away his V card. What does she do next? Leaves for almost 10 years. But when she finally comes back Daniel is not the cute but geeky boy anymore.
No, Daniel was filled out in all the right places and unfortunately hooked up to a raving Bitch. Trying to keep his family protected by attaching himself to The Evil One and also trying to hide his werewolf status was wreaking havoc with Daniel. Seeing Lissa again just rocked the foundation of his world. The feelings these two had for each other would not be denied and they couldn't keep their hands off each other.
Daniel tried so hard to fight his feelings only because he thought this would keep his family safe but what Lissa wasn't giving up. She was gonna save him from his own stupidity no matter what.
I loved that the secondary characters stepped in to help and that even though Daniel was a true Alpha male he didn't have to be the sole hero in this story. Lissa stood by her man and she let him know what she wanted without playing the weak female
If I had to pic one thing to critique about this story it would be I wanted longer love scenes. I mean we are talking about Daniel ..and I wanted more of his take charge ways. I really enjoyed this sexy story and I look forward to more.

I haven’t sought out many paranormal romance novels in the past few years, mostly due to the glut of sparkly vampire books written for the same readers who made the Twilight series such a big success. But I’ve been trying to expand my reading comfort zone to include more paranormal books, and have been rewarded with some wonderful reads. I’m pleased to say that Nina Croft’s Operation Saving Daniel is one of those rewarding stories, and one I wholeheartedly recommend.
Lissa has always loved Daniel, but as the brother of her best friend Julia, he was strictly off limits. It’s only when she’s about to leave for a job overseas that Lissa dares to take what she’s denied herself for so long. Her memory of the night she presented herself to Daniel for unwrapping is one she holds tight during the decade they spend apart, but it doesn’t stop her from believing that she could never settle down and truly love Daniel or anyone else. It takes a life changing experience for Lissa to reconsider marriage. But it takes a plea from Julia for Lissa to reconsider Daniel.
Daniel had never realized that Lissa had been crushing on him ever since they were kids, so he was thrown for a loop when she appeared at his door for a night of unforgettable passion, only to find himself alone the next morning. He thought she just needed some time to think things through, yet as years passed without a word between them, he was never able to make the next move to bring her back. When Lissa finally returns to Daniel, it’s his own recent life changing experience that could make their reunion dangerous for both of them and Daniel’s entire family. But this new Daniel has a heightened desire for Lissa more powerful than the supernatural threat they will soon face together.
What I especially loved about this book was how it started out seeming like one kind of romance and then suddenly transformed into something I did not expect in a way I found surprising and enjoyable. Lissa’s feelings for Daniel have always been superseded by her determination not to commit herself emotionally to another person, but Julia’s plea to save Daniel from his beastly girlfriend arrives exactly the right time in Lissa’s life for her to take action. The initial scenes where Lissa and Daniel reconnect after a decade apart are exactly what we might expect to read, and they set up the assumptions for what should follow. Those assumptions are blown away when we find out what happened to Daniel while Lissa was away, and how The Evil One is a more apt description of Daniel’s current companion than anyone might have ever imagined. It’s a startling change of direction that helps feed the sense of foreboding and concern that everything might not turn out okay, and it kept me riveted all the way to the end of the story.
But none of the thrills and excitement would work half as well if we didn’t believe in the romance between its hero and heroine. Their romance is what anchors Operation Saving Daniel, keeping the the story from devolving into just another story about nice people in danger from occult forces intent on destruction. Daniel and Lissa been separated by geographic and emotional distance, denying their true feelings and letting external forces keep them apart, until they finally accept the force of their attraction and do everything they can to defeat their enemies and save their loved ones and themselves. Operation Saving Daniel has both laughs and thrills to spare, but it’s the love between Daniel and Lissa that made it a book to be savored. And now I need to go find more Nina Croft books to read!
What happens when a guy is one of five children and he's the only make? Yep, you got it four women sure they know what's best for him. Sure to meddle in his life and sure to make everything their business. Add to that the best friend of one of his sisters.. the one woman who has fascinated him since they were children. The woman who actually seduced and left him right on the brink of adulthood. Yep, no way will he ever have a moments privacy. Except, somehow Daniel has managed to hide the fact that he was bitten by a werewolf.. shoot he's managed to hide the fact that there are werewolves. Except his sisters are on to him. They KNOW something is wrong and they are determined to save him. Since they don't know about the werewolves, they will be happy to just save him from the "Evil One" the woman they think he is going to marry. Gathering together they come up with a plan.. Send in Melissa to seduce him away from the "Evil One". Nina Croft brings family dynamics to a whole new level in Operation Saving Daniel.
At eighteen Melissa seduced Daniel for a number of reasons, first and foremost she loved him. But she didn't believe in happily ever after and Melissa totally loved him and left him. Now ten years later, after a near death experience Melissa is back in town with the idea of getting Daniel "out of her system". Explain to me how does one get the love of one's life out of their system? Of course, Daniel's three surviving sisters have other ideas. There is something wrong with Daniel and no one is quite sure what it is. They just know he is close to becoming engaged to a truly awful woman and well Lissa seduced him once, can't she do it again?
When Lissa left, Daniel always planned to give her space but to eventually reconnect with her. He understood that love like that.. well it wasn't a fairytale. He knew she ran because she was afraid but that's ok, he could give her the time to grow up. Except.. a local werewolf Alpha had other ideas. He wanted Daniel for his brain.. so he did what all evil leaders would do. He bit him. Turning Daniel into a werewolf wasn't enough though, in order to get Daniel to cooperate he had to have his sister killed right in front of Daniel. Now Daniel is afraid for every member of his family. But he's not quite the whipped wolf, Ethan thinks he is, he has a plan! And he doesn't need is sisters and Lissa around to muck it up!
I really really enjoyed this book. There was just something about it. It wasn't an intense twisted multi layered book, it was pretty basic.. two people fell in love, one turns into a wolf.. Ok, not so basic. But there wasn't a lot of subplot and questions. Just excellent writing! I am hoping this will become a series because there are a lot of really likable secondary characters. Daniel's sister, Lissa's brother, the decent members of the pack, the British Government.. This has tons of potential for an exciting series. And maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part because this book was that good. I don't want to say goodbye!

Well I must say she has done it again and has written a winner and once started you will not put it down until you have reached the end. Melissa has given a birthday present that it seems was good enough that the impression has lasted for years. That is some kind of present. Years later after a recovery from a illness comes back and her best friend Julia has concocted a plan that involves Melissa because of her concern with her brother Daniel and the changes she has come to see and know. Also there is also the matter of the girlfriend that no one wants likes and can not believe she is the one for him. The fun of siblings is when they are close and really care for each other is the meddling they feel is their duty to do. Right off Melissa goes to Daniel's office to pay him a visit before she is even fully aware of Julia and her plan. Boy is she in for a treat. In he comes with the clinging vine of a girlfriend. Sophia is the type you love to hate and she usually hates others as well. I am sure you know what I am speaking of those who think their stuff is better than anyone else and no man could turn them down. But then again there are some men out there as well. She notices something off about Daniel right away. Robot would be a apt description and to me that would be a cold one to fathom. By this time I am drawn into this and really sinking some teeth into this because I really want to know what is going on and what are they going to do. Julia wants Melissa to lure Daniel away once suspicions are confirmed that not everything is as it should be with him that with her attraction she knows she has for Daniel and Melissa still feels for him no twisting of arms here to do the operation of saving. By the description she is saving a mighty fine piece of a male and it will not be hard on the eyes and other senses. Events that follow are filled with alot of action and little by little truth comes out and boy that truth is a hum dinger by the way and my kind of story. Their mutual attraction does develop into so much more and that also is a wow factor in itself to further the enjoy of this story. There are some hair raising action that will have you on the edge of your seat until the victor is known. Mysteries will be solved and at the end of it all another birthday present given that never gets old and by now seems to and will last a lifetime. I wonder if Daniel has a friend that looks like him that could use a bit of saving? Received an arc for a honest review.
Even though the book is about werewolves there is not much paranormal going on.
Overall this is a good book - very pleasant to read like all of Nina Croft’s books. She is a very talented author and I like her a lot.
However this book was lacking something. I think it was details. The paranormal world could have been deeper. There was just this one pack of werewolves. I also had the impression that the characters were not well developed. We only get to know the surface of them. Lissa might have been in Africa and that should have given her some depth in character. But it did not because we don’t get to know what she did there, why she went there in the first place and so on. According to Croft Lissa fled to Africa because she was running away from Daniel and her feelings for him. But that can’t be everything in my opinion. If a character does something so potent as going to Africa for ten years it has a lot of potential for a great story. However Nina Croft didn’t quite use the potential. It was the same with the other characters in the book. You get to know the basic background information about them but that’s about it.
Because of that I didn’t really feel connected with the book. The story was good and also Nina Croft’s style of writing is great. However the book could have been better. There was also something missing in the story line.
However the sexual chemistry between Lissa and Daniel was great. They couldn’t leave their hands off each other once they were alone.
This is an awesome read with bewitching characters, an intriguing plot with some unique and refreshing elements.
At eighteen, Melissa ran away after seducing her best friend’s brother because she didn’t believe in fairy tales. Ten years later after a call from help from her best friend she returns to find Daniel acting weird and that someone needs to save him from marrying his long term girlfriend- AKA The Evil One. Daniel never stopped loving Lissa, but he was bitten by a werewolf and to protect his family and her, he has to hide what he is.
This fast paced and intriguing story keeps the reader well entertained with action suspense, romance and hot & steamy passion. The author paints a vivid picture of the plot with great detail that makes the reader feel as if they are part of the action. All the characters are strong and compelling and grab the reader’s attention and keeping it to the very end.
The attraction Lissa and Daniel feel is combustible and the rocky path they have to travel to be together is full of tensions and adversity they must overcome. The author conveys the emotions and turmoil with an intensity that engages the reader’s emotions as they follow Lissa and Daniel on their journey.
I found this to a fantastic read that captures the reader’s imagination and holds on to the very end. I think Lissa and Daniel make an excellent couple and that the bewitching supporting characters give this book great potential for future books, which is fantastic because I believe the writer is working on the next one, I can’t wait.
Before Lissa left home she spent one memorable night with her longtime crush, before walking out of his life for ten years. After being hit with an illness that could have lead to her death, Lissa is home and bumps into her old crush Daniel. Daniel is curt, tense, and completely unlike the man she once knew. He also has a barracuda of a woman hanging all over him, she knows who she is thinks to stories from Daniel's sister, the Evil One definitely has her claws in.
Daniel needs to stay away from Lissa, for his sanity and her safety. He can't though, he wants her and the feeling is mutual. Daniel is harboring a secret though that could have Lissa running for the hills and he needs to fix an issue that has been wrong or a very long time before he can start anything with Lissa.
Exciting story, this was completely unexpected. I liked that Daniel had a plan but with Lissa in his life, it gets bumbled a bit. I thought the chemistry was off the chart and liked that initially Daniel comes off cold to Lissa.
Recap: Melissa (Lissa) has had a crush on Daniel since she was 14 and he was 16. She seduced him on his 20th birthday, and then left the next day for college. She didn't return.
In the ensuing years, Daniel was bitten by a werewolf and forced to do research for the pack. He has a handler whom he is being forced to marry. His sisters don't know he is a werewolf and being coerced. They just want to prevent him from marrying "The Evil One." They bring Lissa home to change his mind.
Daniel needs to keep up the pretense, or Lissa will be killed. But his heart won't allow him to stay away from her.
Reactions: I really enjoyed this book. It grabbed me from the beginning and I had to finish it all in one afternoon/evening.
I loved Daniel. He was sexy, self-sacrificing, protective, powerful, and noble. And he loved Lissa with all that he was.
Lissa had one TSTL moment, but otherwise she was an admirable, fun character. She never gave up on Daniel.
Operation Saving Daniel is a quick, emotionally satisfying read.
Powerful story! Although this is a romance story at heart, this book brought about other emotions with its secondary story for me. First and foremost, I loved the selfless love Daniel and Lissa had for each other. They were constantly putting the other above their own needs. Very touching. I loved the sarcastic and sisterly wit Julia brought to the story. She was funny (would love her story, maybe with Jason). Onto the secondary story. It has been a while where I read a story and felt such animosity towards a character, but Sophia. I just wanted her gone! Such evilness in a character can be quite shocking. Glad to see her part in this book play out the way it did. Wants of retribution for her character were so strong. Loved the angst and the romantic feel of the whole book.
WOW! In first Chapter I fell in love the book. The subject was cool and as soon as I fell in love again! The Werewolfs! Damn! This book became more cool! You can never imagine the path of the book. I was anxious to see what happens with the pack and the threat. So much action so much love in there.

Daniel Melville is determined to protect Melissa, the woman he has loved for more than ten years. He will go so far as to marry Sophia to accomplish this. written with strong characters and with written with vivid scenes that bring the story to life. Follow Daniel's and Melissa's anguish as they fight their attraction.
My rating of "Operation Saving Daniel - The Melville Sisters Book 1" is 4.25 out of 5 stars.
I love the story and the characters -- but the entirety of the world could have been fleshed out better. I remember reading a werewolf story from Wattpad that was written better than this (not to say that this novel wasn't written well).

My Thoughts
The 2nd chance romance scenario is once again front and center and it made me jump at the chance to read this short story that turned out to be lighter in unexpected places and at the same time deeper in meaning in others.
Daniel is the middle sibling of 5, 4 of whom are girls, and most of his life has been spent in the pursuit of scientific knowledge. Imagine his shock when that became the reason for a werewolf targeting him to join it’s pack and provide a way for their species to become immune to injury or death from silver.
Lissa was too young ten years ago at 18 to understand what she was walking away from was a once in a lifetime love, now all those years later older and wiser she is ready to put her earlier infatuation for Daniel behind her and find the man who will provide her with the family life she finally yearns for.
This is a paranormal romance that has characteristics of Beauty and The Beast but on a more believable note. Daniel and Lissa’s relationship is one that has been on the back burner for more than 16 years, as both of them were attracted in their earlier teens without acting upon the feelings until he was 20 and she was 18.
I found upon them reuniting with each other to be sweet and long overdue, also wanted to take Sophia out of the picture long before she was removed from Daniel’s life!
It always comes down to a final battle between good and evil, in this case it also came down to a battle between Daniel’s conscience as he was so afraid of becoming the very thing that he was fighting against.
There is a lot going on that was mentioned almost in passing that can be used in furthering this as a series, especially how things turn out for Daniels sister Julia in the future and Lissas brother Jason as well. Plus it would be really nice to revisit with Daniel and Melissa to see if their dreams for the future had come to pass too!
[EArc from Netgalley in exchange for honest review]
There’s a long history of siblings believing that the person their brother or sister is about to marry is not good enough for their favorite family member; possibly even to the point of thinking that person is evil.
Daniel’s sister Julia has no idea just how right she is when she dubs Sophia “The Evil One”--the woman actually is a bitch--a werewolf bitch, that is.
Sophia is glued to Daniel’s side to make sure that he obeys the werewolf Alpha who turned him against his will; and to remind him that if he doesn’t keep his mouth shut about even the existence of the supernatural, more members of his family will die at the hands, or claws, of the wolves.
But Julia doesn’t know any of this, so she brings back the one woman guaranteed to penetrate Daniel’s emotional defenses. She calls Lissa back from managing charitable organizations around the world.
Lissa does humanitarian work, but she’s also running away. From her own past, and from Daniel. The only man she’s ever loved. Just once and ten years ago. But she never forgot.
He never did either. But he’s tried to. Because Lissa is another chink in his armor, another vulnerability. Something he can’t afford to have while he fights for his life. Fights for control.
Daniel is a research chemist. A talent that brought him to the attention of the werewolves ten years ago. A talent that may be his salvation--if he’s willing to push all the edges of the envelope in his research, while using himself as his only test subject.
He’s just afraid that after the battle is over, he will have lost the only thing worth fighting for.
Escape Rating B+: This was just too much fun! The relationship between Daniel and Lissa is such a beautifully realized second chance at love story that you are rooting for them to get together from the very beginning. Their relationship gets off the ground very quickly, but it doesn’t feel like insta-love because there’s all that backstory. They have a second chance.
We also have a “beauty and the beast” tale with a very modern twist. Daniel feels like a beast, not just because he’s an unwilling werewolf, but because he’s using genetic engineering to make himself an even bigger, badder werewolf. He needs to be an Alpha in order to survive, so he’s making himself get there ahead of schedule. He’s just sure that no one will love him, not Lissa, not his family, once they know what he’s become. Of course he’s wrong or we wouldn’t have a story.
One of the funnier bits is that the government knows about the werewolves and other paranormal entities. I hope that there are future books planned in this world and this aspect is explored in more depth. The government agency involved (this is set in Britain) is MI13. There is no MI13. Or is there? If there were, and it were gathering intelligence about paranormal entities, wouldn’t it be even more secret than usual?
Something that was almost hilarious at first reading, but makes you stop and think in retrospect, was Lissa’s and Julia’s reactions to discovering that Daniel was a werewolf. Not merely that they both believed him, but that they found it a much more acceptable explanation for his behavior than that he might have ever had feelings for the evil Sophia. Lycanthropism was more acceptable than a human bitch. It felt like a bit of worldbuilding was missing, albeit in a very fun way.

Review:
What a great story, I loved every minute of it.
Ten years ago Lissa seduced Daniel into giving her his virginity, I like that the Author has made the girl the seducer. But then Lissa leaves the next day, leaving behind Daniel and family and friends.
Ten years later Lissa is recovering from malaria and Daniel's sisters want Lissa to come stay and participate in Operation Save Daniel. I love Daniel's sisters and Lissa they are funny and perfect trying to split up Daniel and Sophia "The Evil One". Wow, is Sophia Evil with a capital "E". What Lissa and the sisters do not know is that Daniel was made a werewolf by the local Alpha to find a way to make werewolves immune to silver. Now, the Alpha is crazy and evil too, they made Daniel watch as they tortured and killed one of his sisters. Ms. Croft wrote these baddies perfectly because they are so deranged and evil and totally nonredeemable. Daniel has been keeping the secret of his other life from his family and then the girl who got away, Lissa, comes back and now he must try to push her away to save her. That does not work because there is just too much chemistry between them. So for me the first part of the book is lighter and a little more fun and the second part of the book is action packed with Daniel trying to protect those the loves and he keeps plotting to get rid of the alpha. Without giving away all the plot twists and turns, if you like action and suspense then this is going to be right up your alley.
This was an excellent book and I hope we see more of these characters in the future, there seems to be things left hanging so we will see...
I didn't even know this book excisted until I got a message about an free excerpt. I wasn't even going to read the excerpt because I had so much else to do. But, my book worm for brain did not agree with me. So I kept thinking about this book a lot. Why? Because of the title. The title is brilliant. It awoke my inner book worm and I finally read the excerpt thinking to get this out of the world.
Boy, was I wrong. I was so not satisfied with those few pages of teasingly mysterious writing. No, absolutely not. So what did I do? Well, I did everything I could to get hold of that book as fast as I possibly could and read it of course!
What did I love about this book?
I loved Lissa's character and how she seemed to sense something, but couldn't really figure it out. That part was so superbly written I was in awe.
I loved Daniel's inner monologues, because they were just so damn funny sometimes. I smiled alot at him. Although towards the end the inner monologue didn't quite match up with the person you pictured him to be in the beginning, but I guess a guy could easily change from having all those things going on, especially being with that sadistic bitch.
I adored Julia. She was annoying at times, hilarious at others and I loved how she stood up for her brother. She was a feisty little thing (Maybe a book about her is coming up??).
What did I not like so much?
Sophia. But that is a given. And I'm not so sure it was even ment for me to like her. Okay, I know I wasn't ment to like her. She was awful, awful, awful. So great job, Nina Croft, with portraying a great bitch without going over the top! Some authors don't seem to know when to stup the superbitch persona, but it was just enough.
Then there was also something about the a)story itself and b)the epilogue that left me unsatisfied. I wished I could say that when I put down the book I thought "boy, what a delightful read". I didn't. I felt...cheated. Like there was a part of the story Croft didn't want me to read and edited out. I'm not sure she truely did that, but it felt that way. So yes, that made me a bit disappointed.
I truely hope there is another book on the way about this family of furry humans, because I really feel like there is a whole other story going on in there somewhere that I would like to read to.
Anyway, thank you so much for at least a partly satisfying saturnday read!

It isn't often I read a story where the heroine one-night-stands the hero; that idea alone is often interesting enough to explore in a story. That the one-night stand occurred ten years prior is what intrigued me the most about Melissa and Daniel. Ten years is a long time to be apart, to change, to move on.
In Melissa's case, it isn't necessarily moving on but coming home to a man she loved and ran away from once. Recovering from malaria, she comes home to find that Daniel has not only changed but appears to have moved on as well. The Daniel she knew has disappeared, leaving behind a cold, hard, and cynical man who doesn't want her but seems to need her.
Once upon a time, Daniel loved Melissa enough to let her go, knowing her need for a little bit of freedom was important to her. Seeing her again ten years later, he knows he hasn't stopped loving her, but he's changed more than she realizes. He won't risk placing her in harm's way so he does what he feels is best: he pushes her away.
Or tries to.
Melissa's tenacity is a thing of beauty in this story. She doesn't stop, doesn't give up. She uses her head and follows her heart, putting the pieces together until she has some semblance of an answer to what's wrong with Daniel. In the face of his one true love's stubbornness, Daniel's resolve to keep her at arm's length weakens. This time around, it isn't about the sex between them but the emotional connection they share.
Daniel's strength in the midst mounting strife is amazing to read about. The control he exudes over his emotions and supernatural powers shows he's not just a protector with the potential to lead, but he's also a man on a mission to right the wrong that forced him into the position he's in now. Being a werewolf might have its advantages but he doesn't care to lose another loved one to the crazed maniac others call Alpha just because he is one.
An interesting take on rekindled love, the animosity and depravity within a pack, and how one man's stand against the evil that's demanded his submission leads to a happy ever after that's been a long time coming and so very well deserved.
Lissa took Daniel's virginity years ago as a birthday gift. The next day she left as she knew she wasn't what he needed in life. Years later she is back because Julie her best friend and Daniel's sister needs her help. While she is ready to settle down with someone she knows she has to help out. Daniel has gotten engaged to a woman his family has dubbed the Evil One and has been acting strange. They think Lissa can get him to change his mind and get to the bottom of what s wrong. What they don't know is Daniel is now a werewolf. He was turned against his will and must keep away from those he loves to keep them safe. He still cares for Lissa but won't put her at risk. Lissa isn't one to back down from a challenge and will do what ever it takes to help Daniel.
Lissa is someone who has made it a point in life to help others. It has taken it's toll on her at times but made her stronger than ever in other ways. Even when she gets scared she still takes it in good stride. She cares about Daniel but is afraid to let him know at times. She as Daniel says likes to stir things up. Daniel is brilliant and while he was turned against his will he still does things his own way. He hates having someone watch him all the time and tries his best to hide who he cares about, He shows his true colors around Lissa and you can see the old Daniel. I liked both of them and most of the characters except Sophia. I hated her so bad. She really is The Evil One.
I really enjoyed this book and couldn't wait to turn to the next page. There is lots of action as Sophia will do anything to keep Daniel in line. I liked the plot and how Daniel tried his best to keep those he cares about safe. You get to see how he and Lissa got together years ago and how each left their mark on each other even back then. They are the perfect couple and Lissa makes sure he knows that. I love one scene in this book so much as she shows lots of guts asking him something. I really hope the author writes more books with these characters also want to see more of them along with Julie and Lissa'a brother. This is an excellent, action packed, romantic paranormal book.
My Review: What a great set-up for a book. Ten years ago Daniel and Lissa had a magical night, but she was afraid to ever hope for more and ran away, off to save the world. But she just recovered from a case of malaria that almost killed her and the one thing that plagued her was the unfinished business between her and Daniel. So she's come home to close off that part of her life. What she's found instead is a stranger who although cold and unfeeling seems like he really needs her help. She thought she was over him, but as concerns press at her, she discovers that was just a lie she was telling herself to get by.
Daniel knew Lissa was running and allowed her to do it, knowing that someday would be a better time for them. But before they ever got their chance, something awful happened to him. He's a brilliant scientist and chemist and a powerful alpha werewolf decided to exploit those talents and bit him to infect him with the disease. He's sees himself as a monster now and his only goal is to keep his family and Lissa safe from the other monsters that surround him. He's willing to do whatever he has to, include experiment on himself, to make sure that happens.
I loved Daniel's character. I loved how strong he is and how protective he is and that he has a plan. He's smart and is working to make sure that those he loves will always be safe. The pull between him and Melissa even though he knows how danger it is, is a gorgeous thing. I loved how she soon realized there was MUCH more to what was happening with him than he let on and won't sit back and just let it happen. She may not be a shifter, but she's one tough chick who will fight for the man she loves.
Everything about this story and the way it turned out was fabulous! It definitely provided a great groundwork for a series that I can get behind. I'm anxious to see what happens with the pack, Jason, and Sophia next. There was some great set-up here for more to come. I just hope it happens.

Operation: Saving Daniel is the story of three sisters and a friend trying to save their brother from marrying "The Evil One" that they all hate. What his sisters and Melissa don`t understand is their brother doesn`t need saving. He has a "plan" and has it all under control. NOT!
Daniel is an extremely intelligent man of science. So until the day he was BITTEN BY A WEREWOLF and transformed a month later, he did not believe they existed. Now he is spending his time running a big fancy company with a big, fancy lady (wolf) on his arm and tagging along everywhere.
Melissa (Lissa) is a woman of deep passions. She works with those who are less fortunate and has been overseas since the day after she seduced Daniel for his twentieth birthday present. A big red bow and a little black housecoat. Daniel was a goner. But so was she and it took her ten years to face herself and come back only to find Daniel completely changed (and she had no idea about the BIG CHANGE EVERY MONTH) with a fancy suit, fancy nails and shoes woman attached to his arm with "super glue", But Melissa has learned to be tenacious and knows that sometimes you have to work hard and strategize to get what you want. And she has finally decided to admit she wants Daniel.
I was 13% into this book when I realized I was grinning. BIG HUGE GRIN as I am reading and chuckling. So I was sold - one more author that goes on the auto-buy pile cause I loved it. she made me laugh and made me want to reach through the book and smack so-and-so and I loved that the person needing the smacking kept changing! I love it when everyone does something stupid one after the other and you end up in adventureland for ever!
Totally and completely funny and sweet and kick-butt sassy and just plain good. Must find more books by Nina. MUST!
Daniel got what he had been dreaming of when the object of his desire seduced him on his birthday. Eighteen year old Lissa has had feelings for Daniel since she was a young teen, but she doesn’t believe in happily ever after. After a beautiful night together she tells Daniel goodbye and disappears from his life. Ten years later, Lissa gets a call; Daniel is getting ready to marry a woman who his sisters dub The Evil One. She agrees to help, but Daniel has changed. Sparks fly between them just like they did years ago, but Daniel’s secret could place the woman he still loves in danger.
When the readers first meet Daniel he is sweet and kind. Ten years later his character is perfect in looks, the way he dresses, and has an outward appearance of complete coolness. I really wasn’t too impressed with him at first, until I learned his story. Daniel was bitten by a Werewolf, and he must keep his secret. After that the character I saw as cold and unfeeling was someone who was hurting. Lissa is a different story. She is intelligent, independent, and I saw her as a free spirited. I loved her “don’t quit” attitude, and although she has goals she wants to achieve she takes life in stride.
Croft provided an exciting and sexy story for readers to sink their teeth into. Sparks fly between Daniel and Lissa, the chemistry is animalistic and sensual. She provided us with action and suspense you didn’t want to turn away from. In my opinion this was a read that was fun and addicting. Croft captured my attention and kept me glued to the book’s pages. I did not want to put it down until the last page was read.
Not knowing quite what to expect, I was pleased with this novel, and I believe paranormal romance fans will be pleased as well. I will certainly be reading more of Croft’s books!

I love Nina’s Bitter-sweet Magic and Blood novels so thought I’d try this one. I'm a great fan of paranormal romance when its done well, and having enjoyed Nina's writing I thought I knew what to expect. As ever though Nina throws in a few curve-balls.... Anyway, Melissa, I liked her – as a die hard romantic I love the idea of still loving someone after ten years of no contact...Through a combination of circumstances Lissa finds herself back with her old friends and their brother Daniel. He's about to be engaged though and the sisters call his girlfriend The Evil One. After meeting Sophia Lissa can see why, but Daniel is so changed from the man she remembered, and doesn't act like a man in love. So she tries to see what’s happening with the pair, but gets sucked into danger and a world she never envisaged. Still loving Daniel she does her best to help him, even though he wants her out of the danger. Its a fun read, with some tender and sensual scenes between Lissa and Daniel. Sophia was a great bitch, I do think a “good” bad person adds to the drama in a romance ,and in fact I’d like to have seen a bit more of her and Lissa together, but its a fairly short book so it's inevitable that scenes had to be chosen carefully to keep the flow balanced. Its not an in-depth, dark, heavy paranormal but a sweet and easy romance with a few dangerous moments thrown in. I enjoyed it as a light relief type book, but its not one I’d keep for re reading. It's currently priced at £0.99/$1.61 for 200 pages so its excellent value if you like a light and easy to read fantasy romance.
Stars: four, a good fun read. NB: ARC supplied via Entangled Publishing.
A paranormal suspense goodie with a hottie named Daniel that’s trying to rein in his darkside so he won’t be like the pack he was forced into. 10 Years prior he’d been attacked by a werewolf and turned into one. His family has no idea about this and he’d like to keep it that way. He was forced into the pack against his will and forced to deal with the witch his sisters had dub “The Evil One” and she truly was the evil. They had recruited their best friend Melissa who’d originally seduce him 10yrs earlier, because the sisters thought he might be gay. Turns out he wasn’t. It worked and then Melissa bolted not to long afterward only to reappear 10yrs later.
Daniel was a werewolf forced and kept at bay by the Alpha of the pack and his evil henchwoman he’d been forced into an engagement with. He couldn’t stand her but for the sake of his family’s safety he put on a good show. His sisters however, weren’t giving up and there was no way they were going to let “the Evil One” become a member of their family, so they came up with a plan and recruited Melissa again. Sophia(The Evil One) held Daniel on a short leash and once Melissa started hanging around, she really didn’t like it and kind of knew if the opportunity ever came up she’d find a way to make sure she was out of the picture for good.Daniel on the other hand, wasn’t about to let that happen and in his own way was trying to keep her safe.
It was really good. You didn’t want to put it down and you wanted Daniel to save his humanity as much as possible and defeat the Alpha who’d turned him and “the Evil One”. You rooted for the reunited former one night stand couple to actually become a couple. Definitely liked this and if there’s more won’t be disappointed.

Nina Croft is becoming one of my favorite authors for a guaranteed fun read. There is a great balance of supernaturals, story, smut, and romance. I could tear through a hundred of these books without a problem.
This story is about Daniel and Lissa. Childhood friends, something changes on the last night before Lissa leaves. Determined to seduce him and rid him of his virginity, Lissa gives Daniel a farewell/birthday gift. After years of each having a crush on the other, this could have turned into something more. Unfortunately, Lissa runs away from this possible relationship. Fast forward 10 years and Lissa has finally decided it's time to stop running. Unable to fight her still present feelings for Daniel, she returns only to discover that he's a changed man.
Daniel is not ordinary guy and he certainly isn't the hesitant young man that Lissa fell in love with. The story only gets more interesting as the paranormal elements surface and Lissa has to fight to get the Daniel she knows back. The conflict and characters were interesting enough to warrant a whole series of follow-up books (which would be great!). The romance and steamy scenes were really well done in this book. The pacing was good and I was able to devour this book in an afternoon. As I said before, I will read as many of these yummy Nina Croft books as I can get my hands on.

When I started this book I had a hard time getting into it. It was slow so I put it aside for a few days and then picked it up again. I'm glad I didn't give up on it because after a few chapters it started picking up. I'm a sucker for young love, losing that love, then it comes back when you are older. And of course adding werewolves is a nice touch.
So just stick it out through the first couple of chapters and you will enjoy this book.
