Aliens Attack! When science camp buddies Kevin, Warner, Tara, and TJ summon alien life to earth, they quickly find out that not all extraterrestrials come in peace. Can they stop an alien takeover and save the world in time to win the Invention Convention? John Kloepfer, author of the popular Zombie Chasers books, has done it again. Galaxy's Most Wanted is full of sidesplitting descriptions; a fast-paced, silly plot; a cast of diverse and endearing characters; and a slew of creepy-crawly aliens oozing off the page. With out-of-this-world black-and-white illustrations by Nick Edwards throughout, the first book in this new series is going to blast off! Meet the
This is a book that you can get lost in. In a good way. I read it in one sitting. Kevin and the gang were entertaining. Of course, I had Tara's side. She is a strong, smart female. Always glad to see these female types in books. I am big into science and engineering and such. So if there had been a summer camp like Northwest Horizons around when I was younger, I would have wanted to attend. The illustrations in this book just added to the story and helped give me a wonderful visual of the camp, Kevin and the gang, and Mim the alien. Speaking of Mim. He was quite the character himself. He kept things fun. My nephews will enjoy reading this book and they can as there were no huge words that they can't read for themselves. I am interested in what happens next in Galaxy's Most Wanted: Into the Dorkness.
In the book, Galaxy’s Most Wanted, John Kloepper tells a story about four children: Kevin, Ward, Tara, and TJ, who had to find a way to win the Invention Convention at Northwest Horizons science camp. They fought with the monsters in order to win the battle. My favorite character was Kevin because he was the main character. He was the one that was interesting and he was smart and felt real and brave. The characters had a small circle just like real people The story kept me guessing because it had a lot of interesting scenes. I like the part that they had to help Kevin against the spider at the science camp. If you need to brighten your day, you should read this book. It has a lot of scenes and funny parts.
This book is a thrilling space adventure that keeps you hooked from start to finish. The plot is about a band of improbable champions who contend with danger while exploring the depths of the galaxy. Klopfer’s universe seems to never end, and his characters are very likable, which makes it all too easy to throw in with them and follow wherever they may lead.
Though the book speeds along and gets interesting, some sections feel really stale, and the personalities that inhabit its pages might be better with more depth. But it is still a book I personally enjoyed greatly.
Now, I'll start by saying, this book was certainly childish, but I suppose that was part of the charm. It was nice to read about some of the characters and their refreshingly childish motives. Characters Reminiscent of Palacio's 'Wonder'.
I would have loved this book in elementary school. It's another title from the school library that I wanted to read because it looked like a crazy sci-fi adventure. It didn't disappoint! It features a fun and diverse group of campers and a pretty good plot twist right before the climax.
Synopsis- Kevin Brewer and his science camp friends (Tara, Warner, and TJ) are at the best STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) Camp in America. Basically it’s a science summer camp for nerds. Alexander Russ has won the Invention Convention (a competition) four years in a row, and Kevin isn’t going to give up yet! It doesn’t help that Alexander is a snobby rich kid. So, to beat him, Kevin and the other Extraordinary Terrestials (Kevin’s team) must do the impossible! Getting their idea from a comic book, they decide to make a Galactascope – a device that can communicate with aliens! To their surprise – no one really expected it – an actual alien, named Mim, responds, and appears through the sky! But what if Mim isn’t all that he seems?
What I Liked- I LOVED THIS BOOK! The world that Mr. Kloepfer creates is pretty much my heaven – nerd science camp – with aliens! And just plain cool stuff! The plot is really good! I like how there is a great plot twist in it that was somewhat unexpected (when it happens, it feels like there is no foreshadowing, but after thinking back, I realized that there was). The characters were believable, and very realistic. Kevin is a normal geeky nerd. So are his friends. It is really cool how they all have a specialty. Looking forward to reading book 2! *NOTE I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
When an alien visits Earth it’s up to Kevin, Warner, Tara, and TJ to handle business at summer camp while also getting rid of the alien. What ensues is a hilarious teen story filled with drama, twists and turns and witty resolutions.
As a parent of teens I thought it was great, clean fun. But to ensure that it actually was as funny to its intended audience I gave it to my (almost) 12 year old daughter. This is what she said:
“This book is unlike most books I’ve ever read because from the beginning I could tell it would be an exciting adventure with many mysteries and fun filled days. Other books most of the time start out as boring and are often annoying to most people because you basically have to wait 4 or 5 chapters to get exciting. This book was nothing like that at all for me. The details and descriptions made it full of adventure and excitement. I would call this a perfectionist’s masterpiece. All the adventure and non-stop fun and danger made me not want to put the book down. And it’s a cliffhanger, too. I’m dying to read the next book. It was absolutely amazing.”
So yeah, adults and teens will love this funny adventure.

Full of action, adventure, and implausible aliens. What's not to like in this new sci-fi escapade from the author of Zombie Chasers?
*Update* My full SLJ Review: Gr 4–7—This is a suspenseful science-fiction adventure that will keep readers glued to the pages. The fast-paced story chronicles how Kevin, Warner, TJ, and Tara create a device to communicate with aliens to win the science-camp-invention convention. Excitement abounds when Mim, a friendly purple alien, crash-lands and becomes fast friends with the group after receiving their message. But when intergalactic bounty hunters begin touching down at science camp and hunting down Mim, things take a turn for the worst. Mim isn't really the last of his kind and is hiding on Earth; he's a world-destroying fugitive. Kevin, Warner, TJ, and Tara grow as a team and as friends throughout the story as they work to stop a terrible end for Earth. The accompanying illustrations add to the quirky nature of the story and reluctant readers will gravitate to its style. Libraries with built-in fans of Kloepfer will want to purchase, but it is also a good addition for collections in need of more science fiction or reluctant reader choices.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I'm not the intended age group. This story is action-packed and full of unforgettable illustrations. The characters are relatable and likable, even the aliens. The plot was inventive, unpredictable (in a good way), and smart. The plot tied in the character growth with the action for one exciting and satisfying conclusion. I'm handing this off to my ten-year old son to read next. The content is suitable for all ages, and this would make a great read-aloud book for younger kids. I recommend this book for boys and girls. I received this book from the publisher.
Galaxy's Most Wanted is a good book by John Kloepfer. It is a science fiction book that takes place in a camp called Northwest Horizon and stars Kevin, Tara, TJ, and Warner. Kevin and his friends go to the best STEM camp in the country. When a invention contest comes up, they come up with a great idea. They were going to make a device that can signal aliens. I rate this book 4 stars because it was a interesting book but didn't always keep me wanting more.
My Review: Greetings Earthlings! Fun book for kids that love to read all about aliens.
FTC Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book HarperCollins Publishing in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not monetarily compensated for my opinion in any way.
It was so cool, but I'm not spoiling all the secrets in it. Because there are a lot of secrets, including the one where Mim .. *oops* ... I almost told the secret.
