Are you looking for a healthier diet? Searching for easy to prepare, delicious meals the whole family will love?
The Paleo diet is based on the nutritional needs of our bodies. An assimilation of the diet eaten by the pre- agriculture, Hunter/Gatherers. It includes all foods that can be grown, caught or collected. What better diet to eat than the natural one?
Fresh, organic and free-range foods have the highest nutritional value, taste sublime and are simple to prepare. Make a single serving or make enough to feed the whole family. They are easy to adapt to any need or taste.
If I understand Paleo it means gathering probably nearby. Many of the ingredients used are not available locally, bananas and coconuts for example. The recipes look simple and the book is put together well. Would be happy to try some of these recipes as they appear easy to prepare a and seem healthy to ingest. Hope this review is helpful. Was hoping to find easy healthy meals simple to prepare and this books fits the bill on that .
I need to simplify my life. With this eating plan, My kids love to be able to contribute to the diet by the veggies we grow. This eating plan includes most ingredients that are found in someone's cupboard. Great recipes Ill have for the week.
I don't think the author really understands what the paleo diet is. Recipes in this collection include buckwheat, peas, beans, and white potatoes, none of which are acceptable on a paleo diet (with the exception of those paleo folks who admit they "indulge" in some of these items from time to time, but even then they know that they are not really paleo). Also, the use of "vegetable oil" all throughout would have many paleo people reeling. One of the first things you learn when switching to a paleo diet is what kinds of fats are healthy and which are not, and "vegetable oil" is bad news. Olive oil (under certain temperatures), coconut oil, rendered animal fats, and butter are the most common paleo-approved fats. The writer also uses a fair number of "prepared" condiments that would likely not be paleo-approved.
The recipes, even excluding those that are not really paleo, are pretty dull. Nothing new. I got this for free, so no loss, but there is also value for me here.
I download a lot of free paleo cookbooks to garner ideas for things to prepare. A couple of the 40 presented here are similar to things I make on occasion. The rest of the recipes absolutely do not appeal to me. Vegetable dishes and soups are heavily represented here. There are ingredients used that I do not.
At the end of the cookbook I can honestly state there is not one recipe I read that I even thought "perhaps" to. I will not read this one again.
I will definitely try a lot of the recipes. The premise of this diet is to eat like our ancestors did before highly processed foods started contributing to the obesity and health problems of many Americans. There are lots of tasty recipes for vegetables, meats, and even some baked goods like muffins and waffles made without flour.
This book is an okay one if you do have some cooking knowledge to start with. It is even a fun one if you don't. The recipes are okay there are some that do help with health and weight. But this is not really my kind of book.
Some interesting information about the history of the Paleo diet but none of the recipes really sparked my interest. Quite a few highlight beef and my particular diet does not allow for that but they did sound good.
This book is useless. The so-called directions are usually 2 or 3 steps with very few words. This means that many steps are skipped and the directions as they are are sometimes wrong. Any recipe online will be better.
I actually just skimmed through to see if there were any recipes that sounded good to me. I saw only a few that I would actually consider for sure but who knows?
Very easy to use and some good and easy recipes... most Paleo books have recipes to feed many... it's only me eating this way, so I needed something simpler that I would stick with.
