I have an inexplicable soft spot for this sort of survival horror series where the characters aren't just trying to kill each other Battle Royale style, but there are rules created by sadistic game theorists which force even the pure hearted characters to manipulate the other players. And unlike the previous series, Doubt, which shot its load too early and had to rely upon silly twists for the last two volumes, this one is taking its time and not just killing people left and right.

I do enjoy the plot but it seems to be very random at the moment so I think I still prefer the artist's first manga. Perhaps it's still the issue with the translation.

This volume was rather boring, even the fact that * gasp * not every followed the plan and the "twist" that the executioner is in the group did not come as a surprise, especially if you read Tonogai's Doubt, Vol. 1 .I get that it set the stage for the final 2 volumes of the series, but I feel like this volume could have just been skipped, or condensed into 1 or 2 chapter instead of dragging it out. I do still plan on picking up the next volume to see how the game ends.

Judge, Vol. 2 is a quick, spooky continuation for the series. The premise, that these kids have to vote to execute one of their own, is compelling. I'm interested to see who the mastermind is to this twisted game. Even though the story is far-fetched and a little random at times, it's still a fun read.

Another entertaining read. Someone dies and no one is surprised (reader, that is) at who. It's almost a relief to tell the truth. I'm ready for this to jump more into their "sins." Still a cool read.

WARNING!!!!!
Some might find the story’s formula repetitive, as the survival game trope is familiar territory for fans of the genre. Additionally, the cliffhangers will make it hard for me to stop reading!!!
Judge Vol. 2 by Yoshiki Tonogai continues the intense psychological thriller that began in the first volume, blending horror, mystery, and moral dilemmas. The story picks up where it left off, with a group of strangers wearing animal masks, trapped in an isolated location, forced to participate in a deadly game where each must atone for their sins—one person is to be sacrificed every twelve hours.
In this volume, tension escalates as alliances form, suspicions grow, and secrets unravel. The characters, all flawed, undergo significant development as their growing desperation leads them to reveal more about their past actions and the sins for which they have been condemned. This character development will keep you connected to the story and the moral ambiguity of the characters.

Tonogai’s art continues to complement the dark, detailed panels that heighten the sense of claustrophobia and danger. The psychological elements are also more pronounced as the characters grapple with fear and their survival instincts, which lead to betrayals and difficult choices.

Overall, Judge Vol. 2 builds effectively on the suspense and mystery established in the first volume, with enough twists to keep readers hooked. Wow; Se7en meets Saw meets manga in this wonderful series 'Judge'.

9 strangers, each with a deadly sin in their past, are kidnapped and locked in an old courthouse to face their judgement. Every 12 hours they must vote for one of them to be judged.

This second volume sees the group discover the outcome of the first vote. Will they have all voted for themselves, as Hiro suggested? Whilst dealing with the fallout the group splinters into factions, each with a plan to survive. Rapidly the second vote approaches...

Who will they vote for? Will they escape judgement?

This is seriously good and completely gripping. I can't wait to read the next instalment, the lesser found Volume 3. 5 stars.

Summary (for the whole manga):
Nine people wake up and find themselves in a building with animal masks on. Each of them have no idea how they ended up there. A stuffed doll then speaks and informs them that they are all in a game called "Judge" and that all of them are here because they committed a sin: pride, greed, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony, and sloth. At each round of the game, they will have to vote for a person who they think should be punished. At the end of each round, the person with the highest votes will die. At the end, only four people are allowed to leave the game.

Treachery results in the death of one of the people being judged.

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I think the idea - people who have sinned are forced to decide who should die - has promise, but this second volume felt like it could have been eliminated or at least hugely condensed. I'll still read the third volume because I want to see if there's a point to the story but I don't have a lot of faith right now.

Really enjoying this series so far. *read English version*. The only real issue I have with Vol. 2 is that it does tend to be slow in parts. The ending did pick up the pace though and I am still having fun with this! I love most stories that involve groups of people having to pick each other off (like Battle Royale style).

Also - I know this is a weird thing to praise, but I think it is neat how on each cover it shows which characters have died..

Still waiting for this to get crazy. This volume was quite predictable and short. Nothing really happened, but I am hoping that it is just taking its time to lay the groundwork so that the rest of the series is crazy and mindblowing.
