This book takes a turn away from the previous format of this series. This time we are going all cozy and juts a flirtation. I ended up starting this series with the 6th book, so I know this "romance" will be draw out over the next book as well. So, do not go into this looking for a HEA, not yet anyway.

This major change in the format wasn't something I loved. It is one of the reasons the series has lost a star. The other reason is the fat bashing. I am sick of it! It is so very uncalled for, sure

As the group of friends in Resurrection in Mudbug by Jana DeLeon might draw back in horror to  exclaim, "She's ba-a-ack!" They thought they were rid of Helena when, a year later, the obnoxious ghost has now returned to their lives. She has annoyed God and gotten kicked out of heaven. The people who can see Helena get a scare when Maryse's cousin, Jaydn, the new game warden in Mudbug, sees Helena. They have noticed that no one ever sees the ghost until that person is in serious risk of losing her ...more
The fourth book in the Ghost-in-Law series by Jana Deleon. Jadyn St. James, a cousin of Maryse from Trouble in Mudbug has arrived in Mudbug and her first day at work she is called to assist the sheriff, Colt Bertrand, with a situation that occurred in the game reserve. A wrecked shrimp boat has them investigating possible drug activity in the area. Murder and mayhem follow.

Okay, more fun with Helena and the residents of Mudbug and a new mystery to solve. A good addition to this fun-filled se

Full of humor. If you liked the earlier Ghost-in-Law books, you'll be sure to love this too. Helena is back again and ready to wreck havoc. Her clothes choices are getting wackier and wackier and I had a great laugh.
2020 bk 118: I love the Mudbug stories. I wanted that out of the way. This return to Mudbug seems to also be a return to some of the plotting/scenes/dialog of Rumble in the Bayou (one of DeLeon's earliest books). Marsye's cousin, Jadyn, is the new game warden for Mudbug and the preserve. When a boat full of money is found in a pond, it opens up the town to a new mystery and folks wanting to kill Jadyn and Colt, the town sheriff. Helena returns after a year in Heaven (God kicked her out, but that ...more

This series has unfortunately become too formulaic for me. There is always a beautiful women, who of course downplays her beauty. There is always a smoking hot guy who can't resist her, even when it jeapordizes his job. At least in this one the two don't end up as a couple right off the bat; that is will probably happen in the next book, after all how many gorgeous people can be crammed into this tiny town. What saves this series is Helena, the 'ghost-in-law'. Her reason for ending up back in Mu ...more

I waited a bit to write this review. I am a big fan of Jana DeLeon's Mudbug series. Though the story line was good, I could only give this three stars because it was so poorly edited. Editing is my biggest pet peeve and I was really disappointed with this book. Not only were there typos, but there were so many inconsistencies that at one point the main character Colt became Carter for a few pages. I assume at some time during the writing process the author considered Carter for his name but chan ...more

Fun read and a great continuation to this series. If you haven't read the other books, you should. The plot is good, but the romance doesn't get beyond the warm fuzzes stage, a real bummer.

A boat full of money turns up in a pond in the bayou. Everyone is wading in to grab some and the gators are eyeing dinner. Jadyn, the new game warden and Maryse's cousin had to take drastic action in order to prevent anyone from becoming gator bate. Sheriff Colt likes how she handles the situation and a lot m

Great Series!

Absolutely enjoyed the first three books and was extremely excited to learn there was three more! Book 4 introduces new characters yet still captures the humor, wit, action and overall mayhem that I loved about Mudbug, Louisiana!

The 4th book in the Ghost-in-Law series by Jana Deleon. Fun cozy mystery with a ghost. A hilarious ghost.
Decent story but some issues for me

I read the first 2 books in this series a while back and mostly enjoyed them, even though there were a couple of things I didn't care for. I pretty recently read the third one and was pleasantly surprised that these things seemed to be less prevalent , so I grabbed this one from the library. Unfortunately, the aspects I disliked are back with a vengeance. What I dislike most is the treatment of Helena. I get that she's annoying and was awful when alive, but sh

Resurrection in Mudbug is another cute addition to the Ghost-In-Law series. This one was different because Jadyn St. James was not a Mudbug town resident and I do not remember much being said in the previous books about Officer Colt Bertrand. So, for me it was new because I was not already familiar with the characters.

The mystery was good but I do not see where Helena Henry’s character was connected with this story. No real reason for her to have “come back” in order to take part in this story,

Jadyn St. James is thrilled to come to Mudbug to work as the game warden; her cousin Maryse Robicheraux owns the wildlife preserve, and so it's an opportunity to reconnect with family.

And then someone tries to shrink a shrimp boat full of money in the bayou ... which is how Jadyn meets the handsome sheriff, Colt.

Oh ... and Helena Henry has been kicked out of Heaven by God, so she's back ... and Jadyn can see the ghost, which is always a harbinger of danger.

The hijinks are just as hilarious, and

I was getting ready to talk crap about the author making all these the same, with the same exact relationships happening to all the characters, like can there be just ONE mystery?! Without someone meeting some guy who happens to be super hot, then the SAME scenario where they resist each other until they can't, and end up having sex, THEN getting married after 2 weeks of being together?!? But im glad to report that didn't happen in this book, although I have no doubt it will happen in the next, ...more

I enjoyed the first 3 books, so I continued the series. I wondered how it was still the ghost-in-law series after Helena had moved on. I was very disappointed in most aspects of this book. There is a big focus on the physical descriptions, but not on character development. We learn very little about Jadyn except that she's hot and Mayrse cousin. Helena is treated like crap and fat shamed throughout the book. Her outfits are even more ridiculous. Also, was there an editor for this book?! The gram ...more

I really enjoy these short little reads by Jana Deleon.

I was a bit sceptical about her resurrecting Helena but I’m glad she did.

This was a lot of fun, fast paced and well done.

I like that I can start reading after work and finish it before bed.

I’ll read the next one just to see what Helena panics about and whether Jadyn and Colt get it on!

Another great book

This is the 5th book in the series. The characters are great especially Helena. This book is really good like the others. You won't guess the outcome halfway through the book. I only have 1 more book left. Hopefully there are more coming. I love Mudbug and I'm not ready to leave yet!!

Not as good. Each book is the same as the one before. Just a different girl name with a different boy. I enjoyed the first and second, but now they are getting boring. Also, I found grammical errors. I had hoped they would get better.

A fun read as always.

I always enjoy the Mudbug books. They are quick easy reads, something not to intense when you're in the mood. They have a little mystery, a little humor, and a little romance.

This is a fun, rollicking, cozy mystery. Mudbug is a bayou town with a lot of interesting characters, including the ghost of one of its more unique wealthy citizens. There is a lot of humor, caring, romance and adventures in this enjoyable story.

Helena the Ghost is Back

Woohoo! I am so happy this series is continuing with Helena. I don't know why everyone rags on her, I think she is a hoot! Life would be boring and oh so much more dangerous without Helena. Great mystery too.

Easy funny read

I love the character interaction and how the relationships develop over the series. I especially enjoy reading these books and the fortune series as a distraction and will be guaranteed a smile.

Another great addition to the series. I like how Jana was able to incorporate another character into the series, without it feeling forced. Jadyn is a strong character. I am interested in seeing what happens next.

Got to love any book that has an inept ghost as a main character.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jana DeLeon was raised in southwest Louisiana among the bayous and gators. Her hometown is Carlyss, but you probably won't find it on a map. Her family owned a camp located on a bayou just off the Gulf of Mexico that you could only get there by boat. The most important feature was the rope hammock hanging in the shade on a huge deck that stretched ou ...more
