I remember reading this for the pictures. It always makes me hungry, especially when it comes to the dessert part! :9

Now that I'm a bit older, I guess I'll take this opportunity to whip something out from this book!

I love this book! I was so used to seeing my mother use this book when I was growing up. One day I saw an ex-boyfriend's mother trying to sell it at a garage sale so I quickly snatched it up!

Oh, if you can get your hands on one of these you will have found a treasure. It has some really old recipes that would probably be considered too fattening now, but are soooo good. I love the retro pics too.

Vegetable Garden Cake is a winner!

I enjoy seeing my college age son eating two helpings of this, before I tell him what is in it. I made a veggie stir fry yesterday with the zucchini and squash; he didn't want it, because he didn't like the idea of the some veggies being combined in one dish. I used the leftover zucchini and squash today in this cake.
I've made this a few times a year; once in the winter and then a few times when the gardens are full of produce.

I am really enjoying the variety of recipes in this very large, over-sized cookbook. There are so many recipes I want to make. Almost every page has a photo and the photos are especially enjoyable due to being dated/vintage. I discovered the Vegetable-Garden cake on page 150 while looking for a cake recipe that called for carrots. This recipe called for zucchini which I did not have enough of, so I made up the difference with squash. So, this is a 3 veggie cake.

This is another cookbook for me to donate to the library book sale for someone else to enjoy. It was given to me years ago, and I read it through that first year but only highlighted and tried a few recipes. Very little grabbed me. It sat on a bookshelf, completely ignored till I decided to give it a second chance. After reading over 40% of it again, I'm throwing in the towel. My biggest complaint is the book is too big and way too heavy. It would be a decent choice for a newer cook; although, I think "The Joy of Cooking" would be the best choice. On a more positive side, it's full of photographs.

This cookbook is huge, but some of the recipes (and pictures) look absolutely vile. Being from 1980, I expected some strange and unusual things, but green mayo, hot dog fondue, luncheon ring, turkey & grape aspic, hot baked grapefruit... WOW 😳

Found this treasure on the curb while on a walk and lugged it all the way home. Can't put it down.
