It has been ten years since we left Christian in Savage (Daughters of the jaguar#1). He is now a grown man, eye-surgeon and a father to five-year old William.
Even though time has passed Christian hasn't aged a day. But now Christian is suddenly changing. Something is happening inside of him that he doesn't quite understand. Why are his eyes glowing? Why does he feel muscle-pain? Meanwhile Christian is fighting for his marriage when suddenly Aiyana's prophesy comes true and she is back in his life again.

This 2nd installment picks up 10 yrs later from book 1. Christian is now a successful eye surgeon. He has a great home, a beautiful 5 year old son, and a wife & social life that is in the crapper.
But of course his love for Aiyana has never faded it's only grown stronger in her absence. But something is happenening now to Christian. Something that after all this time has passed, he never thought would happen. And to add to the mystery that is now becoming his life, Aiyana returns to him as well.
This one is properly named; "Broken" will certainly break your heart. This one is filled with amazing plot twists, heartwrenching & suspenseful scenes, and a raw display of love. The beautiful & ugly side of the love coin. I could not stop reading this one. I hated when I actually had to walk away from it.
You are left with another cliff hanger of sorts. Has me wondering exactly what is going to come of the choice Christian decided to make at the end.
The reason why I give this one only 3.5 stars is there were plenty of times through out this read involving Christian's son, William, where things did not ring true to me. And because these things occurred within certain scenes of this book that were critical to the flow of the scene/story, it didn't feel "real" to me or as something that could possibly occur. I have a 5 year old and although children can be very wise, intuitive, & recognize things with amazing clarity that we adults tend to over look, a 5 year old is not going to be able to convey or express such dire or intense emotions to another person in the manner or reasoning that say a 9 or 10 year old child would. And that is what sometimes occurred here. Also there was another critical moment in Christian's realization/decision process that didn't quite flow within the story.
This was still a good addition to this series. And I would recommend this read. I strongly urge you to read this series in order though.
The good: The plot was engaging and fun. It picks up 10 years after the first, and we get a glimpse into each of the two main character’s lives. It’s unique in its own way for a shifter story. Wraps up nicely in the end with everyone getting the ending they deserve.
The bad: The grammar this time around was a little rough to handle. Plus the author would sometimes use italics to indicate mind speech, and then other times wouldn’t so the flow was very off-putting—and would sometimes use italics for personal thoughts, so it was kind of all over the place.
I felt the five year old spoke way too adult-like to be a real five year old in many scenes (and in others more like a 2 year old).
Overall the book was a quick read and not horrible. I think if it was fixed up to accurately represent thoughts/mental chatting, and a little more depth to the characters, it would have been much better.

This is an awesome story I guarantee you'll not want to put down. It's been 10 years since Christian was left in the town of Savage. He's now grown, an eye surgeon, and a father of five year old William. Christian has not aged. He feels something is happening inside of him. Why are his eyes glowing? He realizes suddenly that a prophecy by Aiyann is coming true. This story is for adults. It's got some language, violence and sexual scenes. It's an awesome, spine chilling story only Willow Rose can create. Her stories are hypnotizing.
Chris's life has changed drastically since he started shifting. He and Heather have grown totally apart. William is his only saving grace. Aiyaya and her daughter are in trouble so Chris helped them. Big problem as her husband is a very psychotic jealous individual. Things change, people change and the children suffer.
It's a weird, strange story with retro ideas and concepts.
This was fun two book about werecreatures. It was special for me as I am from deep South Central FL and saw the elusive black Florida panther as a kid hiking around the swamp on my grandmother's land with my cousin. Willow Rose is a wonderful author. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book of hers I have read.
Book 2 was everything I hoped it would be. I barely put this book down. It was so fascinating and made me feel like I was part of the story seeing and doing as the characters were.
I read both of the Daughters of the Jaguar Books and thoroughly enjoyed them. I had never read any shape shifter books and found the Jaguars an interesting concept.
This 2nd installment into the series was a vast improvement over book 1 but to be honest there was a lot of "world building" that had to be done on the history of all the characters in that first book, with that out of the way the author was able to get into the meat of the story in in this second book in a much better manner. This is not a rosy story, it is a story of myriad plots, the paranormal parts, the unrequited love story, the human drama and the fact that the authors pulls it all together in a entertaining (although emotionally draining at times) manner is admirable. The story of Christian and his loves and family are more insightful than most in this genre and a bit more paranormal tidbits are served up here. This sequel takes place 10 years after book 1 and I suspect the next book (assuming there will be one) will take place after a long passage of time. I have to give this one 4 Stars and maybe more but to my way of thinking the interaction with one of the characters was unfulfilled and without knowing the future I can only dislike it until some resolution is made. I would still have a problem recommending these books until there is a good ending or stopping place, this book improved upon book 1 but still we are left with too many questions. As a trilogy with some fulfillment I would have no problem recommending the whole set. I will see what the future holds in this series.
"Broken" is the second book in the Daughters of Jaguar series. The story takes place ten years after "Savage". Christian, now a grown man is turning slowly into a jaguar like Aiyana. The transformation he experiences is very interesting to follow. Christian is now married to Heather, works as an eye surgeon and has a little son. Christian and Heather don’t have a happy marriage but Christian tries to do his best to save their marriage. Aiyana and Christians paths cross again, when Aiyanas daughter needs eye surgery.
The story is told from Christian's POV. Christian developed as a character. He grew up and lost some of his lifetime dreams on the way to adulthood. He is now confronted with a lot of harsh reality and one emotional roller coaster after another.
I enjoyed this book, although sometimes it was a bit too emotional for me and dragged me down a little. On the other hand… it shows how much I got pulled into the story… The author did another great job with this unusual story and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
If you're expecting the classic POV from the usual urban fantasy heroine with huge aggressiveness problems you're going to be deluded.
I liked this book. For a change the hot male is the narrator. For a change the story doesn't revolve around a huge catastrophe where the world is gonna end and only the heroine can save the day. And for a change (I havent' found this since anne rice), since we're talking about almost immortals, the story happens during several years of time.
There's no hero here, if not the one that lives everyday life searching for love. There's just normal people trying to live their life. There's no evil lord ready to destroy the world with his army of the darkness.
How refreshing!
It had a feeling of one of those books written in the sixties about long separation between true loves.
Good work to the author for the courage of telling a fantasy story in such a different way, so distant from the "usual" storyline.
It is now 10 year later from when he was bitten by a Jaguar in the swamps. Christian is married to Heather with a son, Williams. He hasn't aged, has not gotten sick, does he carry the fountain of youth in his blood? Christian learns that he can now transform into a Jaguar also. Aiyana returns with her daughter who has cataracts and will need Christian's help. But her husband is jealous and will not allow it.
I loved Broken even more than Savage (Savage was fantastic also). I never felt like the storyline slowed down or was boring at any point. There are some sex scenes but they are mild and nothing obscene. I did feel like it ended too soon. I am sure there will be a third in the series and I CANNOT wait! This is my favorite series!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the ending, and I read it really quick. I couldn't put it down!
I loved the characters still, the new characters. I loved how everything got put together to give a satisfactory ending. I'd love to read more books like this.
So much better than the first book! I do find myself wondering what happened after the book ended. I guess, the author leaves that up to us. I didn't see a book 3 out there.
Okay, so, the story line was pretty good. The only thing that really got to me is that Chris, the main male character, cried...a lot. Men shouldn't cry that often.
Still great story, but this time well written. I nearly gave 5 stars, but I change my mind after finishing the book, last few pages "killed" the whole book.
