Just as I started this review, my power went out. Oh, the irony.

I found Volume 15 to pick up the comedy and romance that I used to love about this series. I had been anticipating this one to fall flat again, but it brought back some of the joy I had when I initially started this series. I truly still have no idea what in the world is going on with Kaname, and I can't even guess what it is. Deep inside of me, I really hope we find out what the issue is because it was super random for him to do what he did.

But, more Zero? Maybe? That was good. His dramatic character change had been super annoying for the past few volumes.

Maybe. Just maybe... We'll get lucky and this series will pick things up a bit for the last few volumes.

Three out of five stars.

I barely have any idea of what's going on anymore. Why the heck is Kaname MIA? Why is Yuki playing school? I know the answer to the second one but it still seems so futile. I'm trying to persevere through this series but it's making it so hard to enjoy it. I'm still kinda icked out about the Yuki and Kaname connection. I'm still firmly on #TeamZero. Why am I sure I'm on the losing side? *sigh*

Vampire Knight

I feel obligated to write a review even though the series are not finished and, I'm hoping, never end. I absolutely loved this amazing series, right after I got over the first three books or so. I loved it even more when I figured out that Yuuki is actually a vampire and a pureblood! The only thing that made me really frustrated was Zero but we'll get to that later.

How everything happened -- my way!

Warning: love triangle ahead

Okay, let's start from the beginning. I am a girl that especially loves love triangles even though I get extremely aggressive with them. It's Twilight and Vampire Academy all over again!! What's worse is that I have a special intuition to fall in love with the character that gets thrown-out-on-their-ass in the end. That's why I'm loving these books now because later on, I will kill something. The whole waiting for things to change is making the series dreadful. I start looking for deeper meaning in conversations and obsess over minor things that make me miss important factors. It is very frustrating!! =O

I don't have a good history with triangles, and that's why I'm very wary of the series and treading the water (or pages) with extreme care!

Yuuki, and here your entitled to your own opinion, is a very strong character who doesn't wait around to be saved, but takes maters into her own hands. She, like in most triangles, claims to love both the guys.

She is currently with the pureblood vamp (the guy I'm in love with) but apparently he went bad but, she's still, theoretically on his side even if she is going to attempt to stop him from killing this other pureblood because she thinks she knows that he is wrong. Twisted, no?

This is where the vampire-hunter-turned-vampire-and-hates-all-vampires-with-a-passion Zero comes in.

In his mind he is debating wether he loves Yuuki (and love is winning) although he is trying to kill her because she's a pureblood vampire therefore a threat to his ideal world, so he always threatens to kill her whenever they meet, and she doesn't fight back (and calmly takes it!!! I wouldn't have, the nerve that asshole has!) because "some part of her heart still loves him, doesn't want to fight with him, and wants to get along with him," but, in the end, he always fails to pull the trigger on his beloved, anti-vampire gun. Dramatic, no?

(All you grammar freaks, sorry for the run-on sentences but I had to get the point across!)

So here I am with my dilemma.

Here's some background  info: Zero is the one with the tortured soul, and in despair who's in danger of becoming an insane vamp and going on a human killing spree.

Yea, I soooooo want to have to deal with a vampire that has so many problems he can't see straight and wants to, no, is forced to (job and personal reasons with personal reasons flying off the charts!) kill every night so that he doesn't leave on a trip to Crazyville and has to start slaughtering innocent human being because we, mere humans, are so weak and fragile! I think I'm going to start a human-ism petition so that we, humans, can be more strongly depicted in books! (This should be considered a crime.)

Here you have a handsome vampire, Kaname, that loves you very much and is doing everything in his power to protect you and here you have Zero who claims to love you but is constantly trying to kill you. If your smart, who would you want to spend eternity with?  You have a powerful vampire who is trying to keep you safe and you have a vampire that has to realize he has anger problems and get them treated! (I choose Kaname ;) )

The other part of my dilemma is that, deep, deep, deep, DEEP down in my heart, I know that Yuuki is probably going to be the one to kill Kaname, who she loves because she will love Zero more, and here you have, again, a tortured soul that has the sympathy of so many readers. After all, we wouldn't want to disappoint the fans. Arggg. These series is going to kill me by drowning me in a love/hate/love again relationship. Note to self: why do I read these?

I would be most ecstatic if Kaname, during his mission to rid the world of purebloods except for Yuuki and himself, executes Zero in a very torturous death like drowning, burns his body, burns the ashes again, and buries half in the in the freezing climate of Antarctica, and the other half he puts into an un-waterproof safe, and dumps it into the deepest part of the ocean where all the big fish would eat it. That way I'll be happy if Yuuki , in turn, doesn't murder Kaname, does the same thing, and then becomes a tragic girl who lost everyone. That would make me pissed! I would, upon revenge, enter the manga, choke her to death, and walk out, still pissed.

Okay, I'm done bitching.

The good parts.

The art was a-ma-zin. It had so much drama and passion in it that I loved the effect it had on me. I could completely tell who was a vampire and who was not by how they were drawn! I loved that.

Sara is also on my list of good things. Although she was a selfish brat, she provided good conflict and had the story moving.

The conflict was really well thought out, and the plot was never dragging, with just enough emotional drama!

The unexpected turns that the prose took. I am starting to worry that Hino (the author) is somehow going to screw this up with the whole demeanor and completely kill the story by introducing a very bad "unexpected" turn. I am reduced to begging for this series to have a good ending. (If not, I will find this guy, and I will make him rewrite the ending however many times it takes for him to get it right!)

The parts that bugged me.

The sympathy that Zero gets. Guys, wake up and taste the rainbow, he has MAJOR ISSUES.

Kaname is a very old (and I mean couple thousand of years old) that loves a seventeen year old but it's better than the time he was considered her brother. By the way, I didn't mind both. (Do not get mad at me.) During that time, I was pissed because all my hopes went up in smoke while others shattered into millions and millions of tiny pieces. I had a small (okay, it was really big) breakdown there for a moment and almost quit but then I thought, hmmmmm, I wonder what's gonna happen next and what the fuck is Hino going to do to make it all better?

Glad I didn't quit! =)

All in all, I loved the story, the setting, the idea of the Night Class and Aido (he was a very lovable, not to mention funny, character)!!!

To start off, I want to say that I loved (yes, past tense) this series when it started. It was funny, it was cute and it was easily understandable! I didn't have to re-read issues to understand what was going on and the characters were easily loveable. However..........

This volume is.....well...like the previous ones. It was confusing (thankfully not as confusing as the rest of them! ... I'm talking about you volumes 11 - 14!). The problem is there is a lot that happens in this volume. Sadly, most of what happens is boring; I had to fight the urge to just skip pages. At the same time, I am going to openly confess, that I didn't (and still don't) really understand what in the world is going on. Yuki was making split-second decisions, new characters were being introduced, new plot points (that didn't make sense) sprang up into existence...and

The characters all seem to look very similar to each other. A lot of the time I had to read the same page over and over until I realized who was talking to who.....and a lot of the characters have changed. Certain characters I can't stand any more. Yuki, being one of them, is very irritating in this volume, alike the last few.

I want to continue to read this series in hopes of it going back to the manga I loved so much, but I don't have a lot of hope for it. Unless the drawing becomes better, the plot is clearly defined, plot wholes filled in, and the whole romance thing is answered....I doubt I will read volume 16.

2013:
Oh no :'D

2019:

This one makes more sense than the previous volume, so that's good. I also enjoyed it more because Kaname only showed up for a few panels. :P

I like how, in Kaname's absence, Yuki is doing her best to lead... his faction? the vampires as a whole?... as usual, I'm not very clear about the hierarchy in this story. Whatever she's leading, her first course of action is to revive the night school at Cross Academy.

From the beginning, I haven't been comfortable with the idea of predators and prey "playing school" (Zero's words from the latter part of this volume) together. It takes about 40 seconds before Sara is making plans to disrupt Yuki's scheme. My guess is that not long after Kaname returns from whatever he's doing, he'll kill her.

"Vampirism as a symbol for another kind of thirst" takes some new turns here. Maria makes a play for Zero, calling Yuki's bluff of saying that she and Zero are now enemies. By the end of the volume, Yuki's hunger leads her to . "Why is it we must always hurt each other to move forward? It's the way we've always been together..." But somehow, they never manage to restrain themselves. This manga isn't exactly a handbook for healthy relationships, whether they entail drinking blood or not...

This volume of Vampire Knight is a return to form after the overly confusing chapters in the previous volume. This series is far more enjoyable when its characters are agonizing over biting each other than when they're engaging in opaque, boring politics.

I do love how Yuki looks in the night school uniform. Makes me wonder if the night school was re-introduced simply so we readers could see that, and its not-so-subtle indication that Yuki is fully in the realm of the vamps now.

Vampire Knight finally turned a corner. The series is by far the most confusing of any that I've read. I still don't know where it's going or how long it's going to take to get there, but at least it finally feels like it's going somewhere.

After too many volumes where Yuki sat weak and useless while Kaname either manipulated her or wreaked havoc on the vampire world, our leading lady is actually doing something! Kaname is missing and Yuki steps in to assume a leadership role. She is determined to renew the positive relationship between vampires and humans that Kaname had forged with Headmaster Cross. The Night class reappears.

Kaname is largely, although not entirely, absent from this volume. I still don't know what to make out of him. I can't say that I like him anymore, but I also don't think he's as bad as he appears to be. I keep thinking that some explanation is going to come that will excuse his murderous behavior.

Best of all, Zero is back! He and Yuki have more interraction than they've had in many volumes. It's not like old times, but there's hints of the friendship they used to share. Even though Zero professes to hate Yuki, I think some of the "more than friendly" feelings he had for her are still there. As always, Hino-san's art conveys volumes of emotion.

The confusion of this series continues to frustrate me, but after this volume, I'm in for the long haul. I have to see what's going to happen.

E finalmente... soddisfazione personale: Aidou è splendido!

Welcome back, Cross Academy! We get to finally get back to where the series started. Maybe it means the story is slowly getting back on track? After the past few volumes I had been debating on DNFing the series. This has given me just enough to be willing to continue. So the new twist to returning to the school is that Yuki is restarting on the Night class!

I feel like the story is going back to it's roots. Yuki is starting to actually DO something (even if it is small and possibly misguided at times). I still kept wondering what is going on with Kaname though. We have new characters entering the folds and still no real answer. So still lots of sifting needs to be done to try and pull out decent story plot but at least we can find parts once again!

A boring entry that has perhaps the least objectionable content of all these volumes. Because barely anything happens. Characters just stand around talking, and the story is of so little substance that Kaname and Yuki are never given the opportunity to taint the pages with unholy content.

And while I am glad there is nothing gross in here, it's only because it's so dull. A nothing volume in a pretty nothing series.

Volume 15 of Vampire Knight immediately picks up where volume 14 ended. Kaname has murdered two pureblood vampire aristocrats for mysterious reasons and now he is nowhere to be found. The Vampire Hunter society has arrested Yuki in hopes of finding out information about Kaname. Yuki, like the rest of us, has no idea what Kaname intends to do nor does she have any clue about his whereabouts.
I found this volume to be a bit confusing, but I did enjoy watching Yuki stand up on her own two feet. With Kaname absent, she now has to take the responsibility in leading the vampires, tame their frantic aristocrats, and reinstate the peace alliance between vampires, vampire hunters, and humans. Yuki struggles on how to lead her people. She is not a natural leader nor charismatic, but her compassion and her human experiences give her an edge. Unlike Kaname who has ruled with an iron fist, Yuki gives her followers an option and they almost always obey because they know she is right. As her first move as leader, Yuki wants to rebuild a school where Day and Night Classes once again take place. Though the idea of recreating a school may seem an odd move at first, it does reassure the vampires that an organized, structured framework can once again be placed.
Hino once again teases the readers about the ambiguous relationship between Yuki and Zero, who were once best friends and had the potential to become much more. Though Zero claims to not want anything to do with Yuki, he is always found in her periphery. His hatred of vampires is tangible and understandable given his dark past. He is deteriorating quickly, which he can't hide from Yuki. Similarly, Yuki tries to hold on to her humanity and suppresses her urge to drink from humans in order to be a role model of how she would like her vampires to behave, but Zero knows how difficult it is for her.
With the exception of the last few panels featuring Yuki and Zero, I was a bit disappointed with Hino's artwork. There was quite a lot of shading and quite a few panels broken within one another. It was a bit hard trying to figure out what was happening. Also there were quite a few new characters mentioned in this volume that I'm pretty sure weren't there before and I'm really hoping their introduction would be made clearer in the next volume.

Full review coming soon! 😁

These last three volumes were three of the best volumes in the series. Matsuri Hino redeemed Kaname's character for me quite a lot in volumes 14-15. I used to dislike him a bit him before(mainly because of how he treated Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu) but after I had read these volumes I started to understand why he was like the way he was and started liking him not as a love interest for Yuki but as a character(Zero is still my favorite through).I think Yuki was actually endearing to me because of her protective, kind, understanding, non judgement, friend role through I wish she had gotten WAY more development than the "loyal friend" and because she isn't more than these things I feel conflicted about rather she's a good character or not especially as a main character.

After I reread the earlier volumes,I'm going to review them and Vampire Knight:Fleeting Dreams.

Wow, I read this in approximately two hours. Amazing. Sadly, my fast reading actually means that this book didn't have much information in it. Sure, my love for Yuki and Zero was once again rekindled and I also laughed at a couple of the scenes, but all in all, there wasn't much that added to the story as a whole and that makes me so sad.

This is a review of the entire series.

Synopsis: Yuki Cross has no memory of her past prior to the moment she was saved from a vampire attack ten years ago. She was adopted by the headmaster of Cross Academy, and now works alongside Zero to guard the Academy's secret. Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, protecting the Day Class from the Academy's dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires.

Review: The opening chapters are little cliche, but the story quickly builds up to a rapid spiral of drama, psychological trauma and vampiric romance that isn't overly lovey-dovey. Yuki is the protagonist, but there's not much to like about her. The driving forces of the series are Yuki's two love interests. The tragic backstory of Zero and his desire for vengeance against a powerful vampire, and the alluring mystery of Kaname and his strange obsession with Yuki carry the plot. Zero and Kaname develop a bit of a rivalry for Yuki's attention that ends up leading to some pretty dramatic stakes and tension.

There are a lot of characters in this series, but only a small handful of them are actually engaging and memorable. Out of the 35 or so characters, only 5 or 6 of them carry the plot on their shoulders; some of which don't even stick around very long. Zero and Kaname are the stars of the show but the story grows rather dull when they're not around. Ichiru and Shizuka were cool but they only made a few appearances.

There is a pretty wicked climax in the middle of the series that really drew me in, but the rest of the series fails to live up to what that climax set up. The characters become less interesting, the plot falls apart and struggles to find a proper pacing and purpose. I really liked the first half of the series, the second half was just passable in my opinion.

The story mainly takes place at the Academy Cross, where the Day Class and Night Class live separately. The latter is made up of vampires students led by Kaname Kuran, a pureblood vampire. The two discipline officers, Zero and Yuki, are the main characters alongside Kaname.
Zero comes from a long line of vampire hunters, the Hunters, and Yuki is the Director's adopted daughter. Their lives are turned upside down when Zero becomes a vampire, Yuki remembers his past, and Kaname reclaims his place as leader by ousting the Vampire Senate. 🌸
Love mingles with war and their story unfolds in ten volumes. The first 5 volumes have been adapted to the screen in two seasons. If the series disappoints a few fans, I also recommend the manga which is really good, funny and exciting with a real turnaround in the last volumes.

💖💖💖💖💖

I don't like Kaname since beginning. I know I'm not fan for him (with due respect) but now I just understand why I cannot feel such that despair for him. Kayak dia susah dimengerti; apa sih tujuan dia? Apa yang dia pengen? T.T Setelah melakukan semua itu lalu pergi ninggalin Yuki lagi?
Well, saya nggak cocok dengan orang yang banyak berteka-teki kayak gitu T.T

But unlike Zero, he is the one, dia udah kayak buku yang terbuka, even if Yuki don't wanna read him to understanding closer T.T
It will be better more the ending we are all know it T.T

3.5 stars. Things are finally happening again! Kaname is on the run and the Purebloods take this as a sign to descend into chaos. Yuki convinces Headmaster Cross to reopen the Night Class to reunite the vampires once again; she's also keeping an eye out for Kaname. Maria decides she's going to make a move on Zero now that Yuki doesn't need him, but that declaration reminds Yuki that she does still have feelings for Zero. Sarah is also manipulating those around her and joins the night class to further her evil plans by framing Kaname for her murders. It's nice to see things are finally happening in this series again.

While we still don't know what's going on with Kaname, or where he's hiding, it was so fun reading about the Night Class again!

This had elements of the humour from the first couple books in the series and that was great to read, it made Yuki seem like "herself" again. I'm a bit confused with everything that is going on with Sama and the new blood tablets but I'm sure all will be revealed soon.

We finally got to see Zero for a bit and that was amazing. Is this an omen of good things to come and more Zero in the next 4 books? I really hope so. I missed him.

I really don’t know what to think about this series anymore. I’m excited to finish it. Jumping in, I assumed it was a vampire academy series, and then it became more, and now we’ve made a full circle and we’re back into academy land and I have no idea why Kaname is gone. Seems like a plot device because they have to bring Zero and Yuki back together. And this point, I’m about 4 installments from the end and it’s the only reason I’m continuing but I’ve lost interest in these characters and a plot that hops around so much.
