Like all encyclopedia’s, this encyclopedia is full of fun, exciting and unusual facts on a wide range of topics. This encyclopedia is targeted at those tricky questions children often ask that you often find yourself unable to answer. This book is useful for both children and teachers to brush up or gain basic subject knowledge on a particular topic. I think what makes this one stand out from the rest, is that most of the subjects covered in its content provide the opportunity for you to look at the areas you are researching in more depth by providing useful website links. Each website link shown on the page also provides details of the content you will find when logging onto the links provided. This is a great time saver and good way of guaranteeing that you or your students find exactly what you are looking for.

This was a great book of general information to read over the course of a kindergarten year -- it's mostly science (biology, earth science, space, technology, anatomy, etc.), but also includes a section on major historical people/periods and current world cultures, as well as maps, world flags, and more.

The full-page illustrations are bright and include a lot of actual photographs, with small chunks of text that help hold the attention of younger children. I can definitely imagine that we'll go back to this for information even after kindergarten is over!

Extremely short and informative articles, arranged by subject so you can browse. Very appropriate for 4-6 years, with plenty of colorful illustrations. Benjamin loves this one, and Josh likes it too.

This was one of my favorites as a kid!(Yes, I was a strange child. And I've always been a nerd, haha.) It lays so many different things out in an easy to understand way, including things from all the basic school subjects. Another great thing, the only hint at evolution is when it talks about dinosaurs living millions of years ago. Aside from that, none whatsoever! This is such an awesome, enjoyable book for kids who love to learn!(6+)

This is a great resource for early learners. We enjoy the internet links when the kids want to learn more about something and I know those links are safe for them. So much information to help lay a broad foundation for littles.

Fantastic non-fiction book which could be used with all primary children. Each page is beautifully presented with intricate illustrations, surrounded by lots of interesting facts. There are internet links which children can use to find out more information and videos, making it more interactive. This encyclopedia covers a wide range of topics, making it easy to incorporate in cross-curricular or thematic learning. It has a really clear contents page, so would be a great book for teaching children about the layout of non-fiction texts. This is definitely a book I will be putting in my reading corner.

I am in complete awe of this encyclopedia and how well it is made. There are tons of topics, including "our world", "plants and animals", "how your body works", "history", "how people live", and much more. Each page is in color and there are tons of QR codes that connect to all types of different resources: videos, webpages, etc. Each unit is broken down into smaller topics that typically cover a two page spread, and are explained using photographs, illustrations and external links. I loved this encyclopedia so much that I even bought "The Usborne Internet-Linked Encyclopedia of the Ancient World" as it aligns perfectly with the NC sixth grade Social Studies curriculum.

I would use this informational text with all elementary grades, and maybe even some sixth graders. For all grades it is an excellent resource for getting told bits of factual information, as well as seeing the connections between topics. I would have this encyclopedia available and on display in my classroom for students to reference, along with an iPad equipped with a QR scanner. It would great to use for extension activities, and I would also be sure to let students know when more information on a topic could be found in this book.

I haven't read this whole encyclopedia yet, but I read a page or a few pages a day together with my son. He loves it as he loves informational books. He enjoys all books, but I do think informational are his favorite as he usually chooses non-fiction when given the choice.

It's a good quality encyclopedia and a great price for what you get. I remembered having encyclopedias as a kid (it's how we did reports as 7 year olds in the early 90's), and I wanted an encyclopedia for him, too.....especially since computers will taint his childhood. For now, I can limit the computer to just at the library, but I cringe that kids are using tablets in classrooms now. Maybe I can find an elementary school that is more enlightened, but.... I digress....😁

We love Usborne books! This encyclopedia was the backbone for our kindergarten history and science. We may not have read every page or every paragraph on each page, but we sure read a lot of it. It covers a great amount of topics.

We like that you can go online to the internet links for supplemental material and I like being able to trust that the links will be safe and appropriate for my kids.
