This book is not classified as YA (probably because the characters are older) but it is mild in its sex scenes as far as adult books go meaning that the hot and steamy parts are glossed over. So if you are looking for a paranormal book with the characters out of high school without the hot and steamy then this is the book for you.
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written in that it flowed and well thought out. There were no “Where did that come from?” plot moments. Also the as the story progresses the plot develops taking you along providing you with the information you need to start piecing together who’s the villain(s) and what they are after. The characters were alright I could have used more character development but characters are what makes a book for me. Aidan (male lead) in particular I would like to have more back story on like how he became Alpha to help understand his character more. I also would have like to see more pack dynamics. Phoebe the main character was the most fleshed out character with the most back story but there were still scenes (only a few) that I did not understand why she acted the way she did. The romance was okay (definitely was a side story) and the characters (Phoebe and Aidan) were cute together but I didn’t feel it was well developed nor that the characters had the level of magnetism and love that author was trying to portray. Overall I enjoyed the book and the look into Echo Falls and give this book a 3 star rating. It was a delightful read.

This book takes the reader right into the thick of the action. Phoebe, the main character, is running away from a certain evil who the reader will meet later on in the novel. Phoebe is a tense, cautious, and slightly afraid main character. She has every right to be though, the monster that chased her was the same monster that killed her brother. Phoebe lives life carefully and always with a wary eye on the lookout. When she runs into Aidan, a real alpha man, her life becomes even more confusing. She has to deal with feelings she now has for a person she can't easily protect.
Attacks by the mystery monster continue to happen, forcing Phoebe to come full circle and face her fears before she loses someone very special to her. The reader will enjoy reading about the shifter scenes, the touch of paranormal makes the novel much more interesting than the average love story. The love scenes are steamy and believable, integral in a novel with a romance edge. The characters were worth reading about. Phoebe has her flaws, but those serve to make her a more believable character. Aidan is the handsome protector, he will be a huge draw to female readers. The secondary characters are just as fun to get to know. The ending is exciting and perfect for the novel. The reader will be completely satisfied. This book is recommended to adult readers who enjoy paranormal romance.

I looked forward to this book and enjoyed it for the most part. I had a few issues with timing on revealing the important elements of the book. The book starts out with Phoebe running away from danger only to be attacked by a werewolf. Now you never see her freak out about it, which was a little weird, but then she doesn't realize there are werewolves in town until later. You suspect what her secret it right away but it all just felt more confusing than interesting.
Aidan is a detective investigating a series of werewolf murders. The town doesn't know they are werewolves, they just think people are being murdered. So Aidan is stepping lightly with his two partners, who are werewolves as well. Aidan saves Phoebe from the werewolf attack and tries to connect with her to let her know she is now a werewolf. See you can already guess the secret since Phoebe doesn't even think about what the attack could mean. But then Phoebe is on the run from someone who keeps finding and stalking her. She thinks she must skip town again, but she is tired of doing that.
In reality, the heroine thinks she can fix everything when she really can't. Then there is Aidan being he alpha of the pack, but I never really bought he was the alpha. He seemed more beta to me than anything. Not a softie, but not someone who leads either.
One main character seems to bite a bullet literally in the book, which felt a little pushed rather than shocking.
Overall, it was a good attempt, but the writing needs some time to mature and fill in the gaps and emotions of the story that I couldn't get into.

Echo Falls was a quick and enjoyable read. The book centers on two main characters, Phoebe and Aidan. This book is a book that focuses on werewolves, there are no other supernatural elements within this book. That being sad this a face paced, mystery, love story, and over all small town adventure.
The book starts out with Phoebe arriving in Echo Falls, and it's quite clear from the beginning that Phoebe is on the run from something. Not only is she afraid and on the run to begin with but when she makes it to Echo Falls she is attacked, and not by any random person, but by a werewolf. Clearly this has not been the best couple of days of Phoebe. A man named Aidan rescues her, and as the story progresses we find out that Echo Falls has been falling victim to the work of a serial killer, and Aidan (werewolf cop extraordinaire) is trying to find the culprit.
I think this book falls under the paranormal romance category because the really the chemistry between Phoebe and Aidan is palpable from the very beginning of the book. I do appreciate that the romantic elements did not just exploded at the beginning of the book, but rather McDougall allowed the chemistry to build and the two people to really get to know each other. The romance was more organic than just completely lust based.
One of the characters I would like to mention right of the bat is Mia, she is the mean girl all of us new in high school. I don't think there is a girl who hasn't experienced a mean girls wrath at some point or another, and a werewolf mean girl brings being a mean girl to a whole new level. Mia I think is one of the more well developed characters in the book, she was the easiest character for me to paint a picture off in my head.
I appreciate that the book was very fast paced, and it did a great job of keeping my attention throughout the book. Although there were several occasions where the book moved so quickly it almost felt a little disjointed. Also in some scenes where both Aidan and Phoebe were in it, it felt as if McDougall switched point of view every couple of paragraphs, which sometimes made it hard for me to follow.
Another point to bring up is that the action moves very quickly within the book and because of the characters don't really have a chance to evolve or for the reader to get to know them fully. If the author decides to do a sequel there is certainly enough character knowledge in this book to build on down the line. But if this is a stand alone only book then I wish I had gotten to know the characters a little bit better.
I think this is a good book for anyone looking for an urban fantasy book that is both action packed with a romantic element. I know a lot of us book readers out there love books that focus on werewolves only, and if you are one of those people then this is certainly a book you will enjoy. If you are looking for a book that contains a lot of world/character building this may not be the book for you, this is more of an enjoyable weekend escape kind of book. Overall, this is a good solid book.

Echo Falls is a Paranormal Romance.
Phoebe Martin has just moved to Echo Falls; running from a past she doesn't wish to embrace. Upon her arrival, she is attacked by a huge dog and she would have been ripped to shreds if it wasn't for the heroic attributes of Aidan O'Bryan. In an off-hand, flippant manner, she brushes away the attack and Aidan's help.
Aidan, a police officer and an Alpha-male werewolf, has his own secret agenda for keeping the streets of Echo Falls safe. When a serial killer begins to kill people in town, Aidan and his task force are set to remove the Hunter from their midst. Someone is killing off their kind and Aidan is determined to find out who it is before too many more are killed.
Phoebe is attracted to Aidan and wishes to keep him at a distance. There are things about Phoebe that Aidan could never find out and she tries to discourage their friendship but to no avail, Aidan has sworn to protect Phoebe at all costs.
The Hunter is tracking someone in Echo Falls and the psychological mind games he plays with his victim makes it hard for them to trust anyone and everyone is guilty of subterfuge. Who can Phoebe trust, she has been running for so long and she finally felt like Echo Falls may be the future she is looking for. However, someone is killing her friends and she feels that only she can stop the madness.
I loved this book and thought it was an excellent paranormal romance. I loved the descriptions of the characters and enjoyed their back stories and thought they fit the story nicely. I liked the attraction of Phoebe and Aidan and enjoyed watching their relationship grow. I thought Phoebe's trust issues were believable and I loved how Aidan ingrained himself into her life.
I thought however, there was, at times, too much time in between the characters and when they should have reacted to one another. Such as, Aidan swore to keep Phoebe safe and then doesn't come around for a few days...I understand he was giving her distance, but for the events unfolding, propriety should have been set aside for urgency. I thought that Aidan didn't dig deep enough when he should have.
I loved Mia and her wickedness and thought she was written perfectly to balance the characterizations of Phoebe and Elle, who befriended Phoebe from the onset of the book. I thought that there could have been more back story between these women, as well as several of the packs other members, such as Elle's husband Will, Aidan's best friend Thomas and even The Hunter. While I loved how the story progressed, I felt it could have been so much more with that added level of character understanding.
I would give Echo Falls a four out of five stars. I loved the pace of the story, the draw to the plot and the romance that built upon itself instead of rushing, however, I would love to see more of the back story characters. With a little more definition, Jaime McDougall is definitely a writer to keep on watch list, she has the right stuff and I would definitely read more of her work!

Phoebe Martin has been running from her brother's murderer ever since the night it happened. She moves from town to town trying to find a safe place to settle down and live without fear. She thinks she's found that place when she arrives in Echo Falls. Phoebe has found an apartment, is looking for an office to rent for her photography business, she's making friends and generally beginning to call Echo Falls home. But then the murders begin and the gifts start arriving on her doorstep.
Policeman and werewolf Alpha, Aidan O'Bryan has a murderer in his town. Three werewolves outside of his pack have been murdered; and then there's the young woman who was attacked in an alley that he was able to save just in time. Being the only one who survived, Phoebe Martin has information that could help solve the case before more innocent werewolves are killed. But she refuses to talk about the attack.
As Phoebe and Aidan grow closer and the murderer closes in on Phoebe and her new pack, Phoebe will need to find the strength to face her past and open her heart to love, trust, friendship, the pack, and Aidan if she hopes to protect herself and her pack.
I loved how Echo Falls starts off right away with a high tension situation. Phoebe is being chased by an assailant who then shifts into a werewolf and manages to do quite a bit of injury to her before she's saved by a man (or was it a wolf?). This kind of situation grabs readers attention right from the beginning. Then there's the awkward morning after when she wakes up to find a strange man in her apartment cooking breakfast. I think anyone would freak out waking up to that, which is why she goes straight for the knife.
I thought it interesting that the werewolves in this book can only shift at night and are forced to return to humanity during the day. In all the books I've read with werewolves or shifters, they could all shift whenever they wanted, day or night. And I really like the story or legend behind the reasoning for the night shift only. It's romantic, but also bittersweet, which usually goes hand-in-hand with an origin story like this one.
The mystery of who the Hunter and traitor are was even more gripping with how tight-lipped Phoebe is about her past. By the time she decides to open up it's almost too late. I did have an inkling about who the traitor was though. The green-eyed monster is hard to hide and is usually a reason behind treason. I did find it kind of annoying that Phoebe wouldn't ask for help from Aidan and her new pack. Hadn't she ever heard of strength in numbers? I did admire her protectiveness though. But the question at the very heart of the tale is, will Phoebe find the strength to fight or will she continue to run?

Echo Falls was a captivating and quick read with an intense plot that I really enjoyed!
Phoebe Martin has been on the run for months when she reaches Echo Falls, thinking she can finally find a home here. Re-establishing her photography business and being introduced to pack life, something she has never experienced before, Phoebe cautiously dreams of a future. When her past catches up with her though, Phoebe knows that she must pack up again before another innocent person is killed because of her. But will the sexy alpha and policeman, Aidan O'Bryan, let her just walk away?
As Aidan tries to earn Phoebe’s trust and protect her he also searches for the person who is murdering lone werewolves. Aidan knows that Phoebe is hiding something and with no leads as to who or what they’re dealing with; Aidan is determined to make her talk. But the one secret that Phoebe is keeping is one that can help save his pack and those he loves. Can Aidan get Phoebe to open up to him about the secrets of her past before the killer strikes again?
Werewolves, jealousy, a fanatical killer, and love are just a few components of what you’ll find in Echo Falls. A nice suspense, but the paranormal element is what really made this story great and the good-looking, protective alpha didn’t hurt either! The main characters of Phoebe and Aidan where real and believable, and I was interested in their story right away. The romance between them was slow to build but steamy when we finally reached that point. I also enjoyed the side characters, which were fun to read about and brought a smile to my face.
The plot itself had several twists and turns that were sometimes surprising and other times expected, but overall kept me intrigued. I did feel like I was missing some key points at the beginning of the novel, as if there where holes in the plot, but by the end I was satisfied with the read and the ending was wrapped up neatly.
A light and quick read for paranormal romance fans that you are sure to enjoy!

This was an exciting story about one of my favorite subjects - werewolves. Phoebe is on the run. Each time she things she has found a safe place, her pursuer finds her again and forces her to run again. He seems to delight in toying with her. When she gets to Echo Falls she is attacked and rescued by Aidan who just happens to be a policeman and the alpha of the local werewolf pack. They are instantly attracted but Phoebe doesn't want to get Aidan involved in her troubles.
Aidan has troubles of his own. Three young werewolves who were not part of his pack had been murdered. The police don't know they are werewolves and are baffled by the crimes because the victims seem to have nothing in common. The pack realizes that they have attracted the attention of a hunter. It takes Phoebe quite a while to realize this and even longer to admit that she knows who her pursuer is. After all, she has been running from her ex-boyfriend since he found out she was a werewolf, he killed her brother, and tried to kill her because she was an "abomination."
I liked the story and found it entertaining but did want to slap Phoebe upside the head more than once and yell at her to trust Aidan and let him know what she knew. Her stubborn insistence on solving the problem herself was pretty inexplicable because everything in her encounters with the hunter showed her in way over her head. I couldn't understand why she thought that keeping secrets from Aidan and the pack would keep them safer than letting them know what she knew.
If you are looking for a good werewolf story with lots of adventure and a little romance, this one will be satisfying. Let me know what you think of Phoebe and her decisions.

McDougall is an excellent writer. I felt drawn in right from the moment I met Phoebe, who was running for her life. I love a book that drops me right into the action, and Echo Falls certainly did that.

McDougall managed to make Liam despicable, yet the reader still is left with an ounce of sympathy for him. Challenging to do, yet wonderful when a storyteller creates such a character. McDougall's strength definitely resides in her ability to develop characters and bring them to life for her readers: Aidan the strong, sexy hero; Phoebe the independent, stubborn heroine who is determined to handle things herself; Will and Elle--husband and wife, leaders in the pack, who accept Phoebe and help her feel welcome; Mia, a member of the pack who isn't fond of Phoebe and Aidan's developing relationship.

When the reader first meets her, the reader discovers that she has been running from someone for a while and that she is in danger. She first meets Aidan (who is a cop) when she is attacked. There’s an instant attraction. However, both characters have secrets. Phoebe’s traumatic past gives her trust issue and the need to keep running. But, she likes Echo Falls and eventually loves Aidan. Can she overcome her past to stay where she wants to? Or will her misfortune drive her away?
Aidan is a cop and the alpha male for the pack of werewolves situated in Echo Falls. Lately, a string of murders involving werewolves have plagued the town. He saves Phoebe and becomes infatuated with her. However, he knows she is hiding something from him, and he hides the fact that he is a werewolf – at first. My opinion:
I really enjoyed this book. Jamie had me believing anyone could be a werewolf and no one would know outside the pack. I did want to read the book till the end. So it didn’t take me long. It took me in and I had to know what was going to happen. As it turns out Phoebe is running from her ex that is trying to kill her. She has never been in a pack of her own and finds one in Echo Falls. That is only one of the reasons she doesn’t want to leave. She is also falling for Aidan and wants to finally make a life for herself. If she could just get over the past. The only real problem I had with the book is that Phoebe can’t be honest with herself or Aidan and she spends a lot of time trying to “protect” him. What she needed to do was come to her senses and tell him everything. Other then that it was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it. The book did have some twists and turns, some you were expecting and some your weren’t. It held your attention and I am glad I got to read it.

This story follows Phoebe Martin and the residents of Echo Falls who have a murderer on the loose. When fellow werewolves are found murdered it's up to Aidan O'Bryan and Phoebe Martin to figure out what is going on.
Phoebe Martin has been running for so long, when she encounters Aidan O'Bryan she feels he might be the one to stop her running streak.
Phoebe quickly makes friends with Elle who is the wife of Aidan's pack mate and co-worker Will. They bond very quickly and find they have a lot in common.
A hunter is on the loose following Phoebe Martin where ever she goes. His goal to wipe out all werewolves. After four wolves are found dead Phoebe decides to take a stand against the hunter, her ex-boyfriend who killed her brother. She uses all her strength against him, and Aidan and the pack rush to her rescue.

This book hits the ground running. Literally. You're thrust into the story as the heroine, Phoebe, is trying to run away from an attacker. The story is pretty high paced throughout the book. It managed to keep my attention from the very first page until I was through the last page.
Sadly, I figured out early on who was helping out the bad guy. It kind of takes away some of the excitement, but it was still an amazing read. I also figured out early on what the bad guy's 'issue' was.
What made this book good, and kind of fit in with the overall 'feel' of the story, was that when the main characters finally hooked up, it was very vague and glossed over. I liked that.
I loved both Phoebe and Aidan, though I did want to hit her over the head a few times for being so bloody stubborn! :D
The shape shifter/werewolf take on the book was also slightly different to what I've read before. It gave this story a little something 'extra'.

Echo Falls is a story of Phoebe Martin who is trying to escape the horror in her past and thinks that Echo Falls is the place to do this. Until there is a Hunter who is after her. Problem is she used to live with the hunter until he found out her secret. What is her secret?? Not telling, you have to read the book. Other characters include Aidan O'Bryan who is the policeman who rescues Phoebe when she gets into a not so good situation. Aidan is not only a cop but a werewolf and he is investigating murders of members of his pack. When one of his close friends is murdered, Aidan is desparate to find out who the murder is. While taking care of Phoebe and trying to do his job there is still time for passions to flare between the couple. A fast paced suspensful story that sweeps the reader into the paranormal world of Echo Falls. Loved it!!

Echo Falls is the first book about I have ever read that has to do with werewolves.Phoebe was on the run until she reached Echo Fall's something about the place she liked that was until she got attacked. Phoebe was rescued by a tall handsome man by the name Aidan who she would find out was a Cop. Phoebe has a VERY dark secret she is afraid to tell anyone and it coast 4 lives... 4 Wolf lives. She finds out not just Aidan is a wolf but most of Echo Falls so telling her secret was not so hard when she finds out. I have already given to much lol... you so have to read this book to find out WHO attacked her.... and why?? and what happens :) I love the way this book was written I did not want to put it down, and it is a fast paced book for sure.I hope there will be more books from this author I would be honored to review for her again.

Phoebe has been running from Liam since the day he found out her secret. It was the same day he killed her brother and revealed himself to be a monster. When she gets to Echo Falls she thinks she has finally found a place to stop and make a life for herself, but she finds she isn’t as safe as she thought. However she has made friends, and they promise to make her part of their family. Unfortunately her presence costs one of them their life. Phoebe takes a stand, but is it too late?
There were many small twists in story that had me guessing all along the way. I was constantly being surprised. The story is charming and moves at a quick pace. I give this story 5 out of 5 clouds.

I got this for two reasons - 1) it was free and 2) I like paranormal romance. I can quite honestly say that I'm very glad that I did and have sat down and read it in a couple of hours as I wanted to find out what happened!
I loved the storyline in it and even though I knew who the 'traitor' was, it in no way diminished my enjoyment of the story as a whole. I loved how Phoebe's story was told throughout the book and how Aidan was trying to get information from her. The secondary characters in this book are also believable and funny. It also makes a very refreshing change to have the main female as scared, unsure and carrying physical scars without being a complete wuss.
Loved reading it and will definitely be keeping it!

Echo Falls wasn’t great and it wasn’t terrible. It was just okay. I felt like the characters weren’t fully developed and I didn’t really get a chance to like or dislike them. There wasn’t enough back-story.
Everything happened in a week to two week period of time. The characters made these supposedly deep and profound relationships within that time frame. Overall I just didn’t buy into it.
I also felt the characters didn’t make sense most of the time. Red flags going up all of the place but the police officer/pack leader can’t see the clues? I knew who the traitor was immediately, definitely no surprise there.
I think this author has potential. I would just like to see better character and story development. It was fairly well edited and it moved along without getting bogged down in frivolous details.

Ever since the night her brother was killed, Phoebe has been running. Each time the Hunter finds her. When Phoebe is attacked in the small town of Echo Falls, the intervention of Aidan, police officer and alpha leader of the local wolf pack, is the only thing that saved her. On the long ago night of her brother’s death, Phoebe’s boyfriend told her all werewolves are abominations and should be killed. But Phoebe is a lone wolf and reluctant to ask for help from the local pack. It isn’t until her back is against the wall that she reveals her secret to Aidan and identifies the “Hunter” who has not only tracked her down once again, but is now threatening the local pack as well.
The book is fast paced and quickly pulls you into the story. I do wish the author had given more back story to Aidan and Phoebe.

For some reason I thought this book was YA and put off reading it for a little bit. I am so glad I tried it out and found out it wasn’t. I really liked this series and the world the author built. I love when a series introduces a new world.
The whole stalker tale was very well thought and written perfectly. I love how the author kept you in suspense until the end. Now I can’t wait for the next book. I only wish I knew when it comes out. Fading Echoes is the second book in the Echo Falls series and I hope it’s coming out soon!

I thought this book was excellent. I was hooked from page one and didnt want to put it down. The characters are well developed and interesting. I really wanted everything to work out for Phoebe and Aidan.
You really get to watch the character development for both of them as well. Phoebe to get over her fears and learn to trust Aidan. And Aidan as he tried to protect Phoebe and solve the treat to his pack.
It was a great read with paranormal elements and a love story mixed with action and some mystery. And is that sounds like your type of book I highly recommend you pick it up.

Phoebe and Aidan's story starts with an action packed punch, the plot developing as it hints to certain aspects of the theme but not revealing itself entirely. I had a bit of a problem with the author repeating some parts like the reader needs constant reminding of what is happening, hence dragging the story out a bit. Maybe a the attempt to create suspense is a little overdone. The story though is good, possibly suitable as a YA as the single sex scene is suggestive but not graphic.

Promising idea for a story. I liked the supporting characters it was the H and h that ruined the story for me. The characters could have been likable but the two main characters behaviors were unbelievable. Still a lot of questions and not a lot of answers that add up. Also I did not enjoy the hierarchy of the wolves (it made the female wolves to submissive for my taste). Disappointing and long. I was glad when it was over.

I just re-read this because I'm going to read the next book in the series... it's good, different, though written very simply - so it's a quick read.

It was OK...good...sorta, it would have been better if they figured out he was a werewolf earlier. DUH!! I also didn't like how the heroine kept lying and withholding the facts that would have helped the cops catch the killer sooner.
