5 Words: Now it's finished. Empty feeling.

I came to the end of this book with a slightly empty feeling. It wasn't that it was a bad book, in fact it's far the opposite. It's just that you end up investing so much in the series that you can't help feeling a little bit lost when it finishes.

Edie and Dylan grow up a lot in this book, probably more than they have in the previous two books combined. They discover so much more about themselves and their relationships.

Edie and Dylan's journey is lovely and frustrating and tough and revealing. And a little bit scary. I really enjoyed reading it.

I thought the ending was somewhat bitter-sweet, and I was left wanting more. But there never will be :(

(Review for Diary of a Crush series, book 1 to 3)

I used to see this series in one of the bookstores I frequent. I like Sarra Manning so I almost bought all three a few times, but a voice inside my head always stopped me. “The books have cheesy cover pictures and the blurb makes the plot sound really shallow,” it said. “I’ll buy the first book and I’ll see how it goes from there,” I reasoned. “You’re meant to be reading more serious grown up stuff. If you start reading this you’ll be reverting back to your old habits,” it insisted. In the end, the voice won, and for the longest time I had no idea what I was missing… until I finally caved and read book one. From the very first line, “Do you ever get the feeling that you’re waiting for your life to begin?” I was hooked. By the time I reached the middle part, I knew I had to get my hands on the next two books. As fate would have it, they disappeared. I used to always see them in the bookshelf, waiting for me to grab them, pay for them, bring them home, and it was just my luck that now that I was finally willing to do that, they were gone! I cursed my stupid inner voice and wallowed in regret, but I did not stop looking. I looked for it in eight bookstores and had my friend inquire in the bookstores near her area. I was beginning to think that it was a cruel joke to have let me read the first book only to leave me desperate for the sequel when it was nowhere to be found, but I must have accumulated enough good karma along the way because I finally found them in the ninth bookstore. They were tattered and a little worse for wear but I bought them anyway.

The fact that this is a series allows the readers to understand what Edie really feels for Dylan and vice versa. Half the time I found either one of them exasperating: Edie for never being able to resist Dylan even when he’s being a big jerk and Dylan for being irresistible even after he’s acted like a big jerk who doesn’t deserve Edie. Rationally, these two should never have gotten together. They would have spared themselves (and myself) a lot of confusion and hurt that way, but where’s the fun in that? Part of the joy in reading about them is watching them stumble through their (toxic) relationship only to profess their eternal love for each other in the end. You grow up with their characters. You learn with them. You get intimate with them. Pretty soon you’ll realize you’re as in love with them as they are with each other. I was so invested in their relationship that by the end of book three, when Edie and Dylan were about to go their separate ways, I felt the gravity and sadness of their goodbye with them.

It turns out the nagging voice had one thing right, though: the plot is, well, kind of shallow. The first book is classic girl falls in love at first sight, girl pines over boy, boy may or may not like girl, the-more-boy- plays-hard-to-get-the-more-girl-goes-crazy stuff. The second book is Sarra Manning’s 262 page version of Jesse McCartney’s song “Just So You Know”. The third book features a road trip which reminds me a little of Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, only it’s nowhere near as developed or polished as the latter. And did I mention that there are a lot of kisses in these books? Because there are. There is an overabundance of them (and a few other more serious stuff), not that I’m complaining. Looking back, I was doomed from the start. This series is a love story through and through, and as a hopeless romantic sap, this is my ultimate kryptonite. This is the second time I’m using the song Buses and Trains for a book review, but the line “They’re like chocolate cake, like cigarettes, I know they’re bad for me but I just can’t leave ‘em alone,” says exactly what I feel about these books. They don’t make me smarter. They don’t really make me think. They have glaring flaws like factual inconsistencies- in French Kiss, Dylan’s eyes are described as blue. In books two and three they’re green. There are also some editing mishaps, from little things like spelling errors to bigger ones like repetition of dates. Considering the entire series is written in diary entry format, they should have been extra scrupulous with this. But for all its many faults, the books made me really happy, and that’s all that really matters to me.

I can give ten reasons why I do not regret going to nine bookstores just to continue reading about the convoluted love story of two very difficult people. I’ll name the one at the top of my list. I don’t regret it because I loved the series. I loved it for the simple reason that I am a girl who thinks that girls who keep diaries are kindred souls and because I am also the girl who will always swoon over art boys with floppy hair and brooding good looks. Yes, the books are shallow. Obviously, so am I.

I have put off writing this review for almost a week. Frankly it's because it was just average, and it bored me. And I really didn't want to have to put that in words. While I really enjoyed French Kiss , it came with a sort of caveat that the series would show a lot of character growth and development. Kiss and Make Up  was a hot damn mess and I rather disliked it, though I saw the realism in it and the potential for the series ender to impress me again. It... didn't happen. It just didn't.

By the third book you'll have gotten used to the obvious chemistry between Edie and Dylan. And it's just more of the same, to be honest. And more of the same in the sense that it became a little boring... It just didn't stand out in this book. What bothered me the most though about their relationship is that Dylan still went back to his hot-cold attitude. They go on a road trip through America together and at a certain point he just shuts her out again and they break up again and yada yada yada.

Character development was also sorely lacking, as Edie still reverts to catty fighting with her "BFF" Poppy. Arguably it was all Poppy's fault, but Edie frustrated me with her refusal to just sit down and talk it out with Poppy. That's what friendships are made of. It all gets fixed in the end, but seriously what an annoyance. However, I did like her friendship with Grace and how that developed. Sadly it wasn't that large a part of the story.

But I dunno, the plot rather bored me, though this isn't really the kind of book where you should actively be searching for a plot. What more we got to know about Dylan didn't really impress me. The road trip was confusing to me - especially the route they take. Since I am very aware of the geography of the US, I was wondering if the author even consulted a map during the writing of this book, because it went zigzagging, crisscrossing all over the place. It made no sense. It's not that big of a deal, no, but yeah, I was that bored with the story that I started nitpicking that far.

What ultimately bothers me the most is that the lack of clear character development could mean that, though this book ends on a rather rosy note, Dylan could have another hot-cold streak the next week, they could be breaking up in the next month, and it could all just keep going on and on in circles forever. While I get that that's real life, and this is a slice of life story... I had hoped for more.

Summing Up:

...I wasn't reading this to get the 5th season of Gossip Girl that clearly should have ended after season 2. That's how reading this book felt. The series just lost its charm. I don't know how it could have been better, but I'm thinking that this just shouldn't have been a series. It should have ended after the first book, because what did they do after that? It was a lot of running around, breaking up and making up, and all this kind of bullshit which, in the wrong mood (which I clearly am now at the time of writing this, though I wasn't really while reading it), really doesn't add anything. *sigh* Hopefully, as this series was Sarra Manning's first published works, it'll just get better from here. I do still have faith in her, in spite of this series ultimately letting me down.

GIF it to me straight!

"You're not my friend," I said slowly, glancing at Dylan's tense face. "I don't want you to be my friend either, I just want you to be the boy I love who loves me back."

The Diary of a Crush series has literally consumed my entire weekend! I started the first book; French Kiss, on Saturday night and by Monday morning, I'd finished the final book. Talk about an addictive series!

In the third and final book, Sarra Manning brings us more drama. Edie and Dylan are still together but her parents are causing some problems for her. Her mother doesn't approve of Dylan but now Edie's eighteen, she can do what ever she wants, even if that's a trip to America during the summer, with Dylan. So, that's what they do! Edie and Dylan hit the road and take in the sights of America but of course, trouble always seems to find them... will these two ever get their happy ending or are they doomed?

Sealed with a Kiss brings so many more hard times for these lovable characters. Both Edie and Dylan are not without their problems and for teenagers, of course they make mistakes but that's what I love about them. Their such an entertaining couple to read about, even though there's been so many highs and lows to their relationship, I love them and I'm honestly sad to see them go, but it's definitely the right time to end their story.

Staying true to the series, author Sarra Manning sends Edie and Dylan on another road trip and this time it's America. I really found it great when they started going on the road, it has laugh-out-loud moments and it had sad moments. I love the way their are so many mis-understanding between the characters but by the end, I was ready for their happy ever after. I would have loved a epilogue set in the future, however, it wasn't really needed.

In all, Sealed with a Kiss was a great finale - even with all the drama and I'm even more eager now to read something else by this author.

SO GOOD but there are so many moments when you’re like oh my just kiss him! Edie has changed so much since the first book when she was a sensible girl that worked so hard at school. And now she has love life has flipped. There are points where she is about to abandon her friends there are points where she puts her friends first and there are points where she is just so weird but I mean it literally literally pulls at your heartstrings and makes you want to be there :3

What can I say I am sad and happy at the same time. Sad because the series has ended I am going to miss Dylan and Edie. I like reading about the two of them. I just can't put a name on that feeling. I laugh, I feel sad, happy and in love. Their relationship is never free of any misunderstanding but all relationships are like that. I love that Edie has finally grown up. On the second book she realized that boys should not be the ones to define her life. Here, on the third book she is starting to be more mature and she handles situation much better than the first and the third book. She turned out to be a very strong girl. Another sad thing is that they are going for a long distance relationship. I know that the two of them have become more comfortable and mature about their relationship that they are able to have a good relationship even when they are far away still, it is sad.

Anyways that was at the end of the book. In the most parts I was happy and I really fell in love reading about the two of them. Dylan and Edie are a funny couple. I wish for a fourth book. I wish that in that book Dylan and Edie will get married. Okay..okay this is me being a girl. But can you blame me? I wish that I have a relationship like theirs. When Edie said "i love you art boy" I wish that I have an art boy like Dylan.

Even if the story ended like that the two of them starting a long distant relationship I know that the two of them will be okay. Dylan is super in love with Edie and Edie feels the same way about Dylan. With the love like that and a strong will like Dylan's and Edie a happy ending is sure to be just in the horizon. I will definitely miss Edie and Dylan.

The ending was not satisfying at all! Personally, it was not a good ending because so much can still happen especially that Edie is still starting her university studies. I know, I know, that it was mentioned that they’ll remain together no matter what happens..they’ll still fight a lot and problems will always be there, but they’re more mature everyday, and they love each other so nothing to worry about...BUT STILL!

Anyway, I love this book more than the other two. I love how it started of with how normal everything is, then there are little fights here and there. Poppy, Edie’s current BFF is such a pain in the ass here. She’s a very complicated human specie. I love Tracy by the way, she’s the only light in the darkness some part of this book brought upon, lol. She’s so sweet and innocent, I love it. I like Edie here, all the time. I get her more, and the decisions she made were really very mature. Way to go Edie! Plus, Dylan, I still hated him most of the time. No biases my friends, but it was not his moodiness, but only his attitude of the lack of trust to Edie. Yes, he loves her very much, but at one time he did something (no he did not cheat), or he did not do something (by omission) which goes to show how NOT trustful he is. Anyway, I felt that that needed to happen for them to resolve their issues in the future that they talk about things earlier and not delay solving problems.

Overall, I really really love this series. A very fun one!

I loved the series so much I went out and bought the entire trilogy. The romance kept me, as a reader, on my feet. Just heartbreaking. Love it. Recommend for fans of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. This you won't regret. Edie can be very stubborn and ignorant, but I love this book anyways. 5/5 stars.

I loved this book and it was really cool to see them in another country and just them together. But what Jim did was really not cool at all and he should have told her what it was doing.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I love Sarra Manning. There hasn’t been a book of hers yet that I haven’t completely loved and this book is no exception.

It has been a bit of a bumpy ride up until this point for Edie and Dylan. They’ve broken up and fought more times than I can remember and they’ve also done enough kissing to equal that amount too. The thing is, even though Edie and Dylan have had a very rough time of it, I have been hoping for the best for them since the very beginning. Sometimes I don’t think they should be together but for the most part, they’re just too perfect for each other for me not to hope.

In this final instalment of the trilogy, Edie and Dylan are finally a couple that aren’t fighting and they’re all loved up and happy. Now that Edie has a gap year ahead of her, she can start saving up for the road trip of a lifetime across America with Dylan. But, that’s nearly a whole year away at the beginning of the book and in the meantime there is work to do, band rehearsals to attend and a whole load of other crazy goings on. Sealed with a Kiss has a great plot and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

In the lead up to the road trip, Edie and Dylan show just how far they have come as a couple. Although much more sweet and loved up then before, the chemistry is still crystal clear to see. The first pages with them together made me remember just how much I loved seeing these characters together and I was so thankful to see them have a pretty smooth ride for a while in this book. However, Sarra Manning does what she does best too here – she throws in some exciting twists and turns to make Edie and Dylan question everything they have.

Something I have loved about the other two books is Edie’s relationship with her girlfriends. She’s such a fun and quirky character and comes with a whole host of others just as crazy as she is. In Sealed with a Kiss, we get to see more of some of the quieter characters which was nice. There are a lot of loud personalities in this book so it was great to have something a bit different this time around. There are also a couple of new boy characters introduced but they weren’t as good as some previous characters for me.

Strangely, Diary of a Crush (as a trilogy) doesn’t really have an ending. However, I didn’t mind this at all which I was a bit surprised about. Certain things are wrapped up nicely and in this third book, there is a nice end to the plot. But, nothing is especially clear about the ending for Edie and Dylan. The reason why I liked it is because it gives the reader chance to imagine the ending for themselves. Did they live happily ever after or did they break up once Edie went off to university. Even with things being left open, there was still a nice sense of closure as a reader.

Sealed with a Kiss was a great end to the trilogy for me and I can’t recommend this series enough

Honestly...book shoudve ended at 2. This one was too...unnecessary.

OK so, Edie and Dylan are doing great, they're more mature and communicative. But as usual there's drama. Edie's mom hates Dylan, which means they are always fighting until Edie finally decides to move out and crashes by poppy. 2 months later they finally make up and Dylan creeps into Edie's parents hearts. Edie and Dylan decide to go to America for the summer and more drama drama.

1. Its too hot and makes them cranky and at first all they do is argue.
2. Edie gets annoyed with Dylan always being around...after an afternoon apart they go running back to each others arms....literally.
3. Dylan gets distracted, changes the rtoute of their trip, stops talking to Edie, abandons her in strange towns and they no longer share a bed.
4. Turns out Dylan was looking for his dad and he couldn't talk to Edie about it. They go stay with the dad for a couple days.
5. Edie breaks up with Dylan...again.
6. There's the ussual " I love him but were only friends" diary entries.
7. Edie gets sick, 3 days in the hospital, no one knows what's wrong, miraculous recovery, Dylan does everything for Edie to show her he loves her but never actually says it.
8. They go to Vegas. Edie bitches at Dylan about everything to get a rise out if him, they have a huge fight, Dylan stomps off, Edie follows, Dylan proposes, Edie says no, they're all love dovie again.

They come home, they spend their last days together before Edie goes to college and Dylan goes back to their home town. They declare their love and basucly ends with Edie going all " we've grown so much but even if we split we'll always live each other" blah blah

Very disappointing.

Edie's storytelling is just so readable. She's got this fun and flirty style that just sucks me right into her world and her problems and her joys.

And Dylan would catch my eye and look at me as if I was the most beautiful girl in the bar. Which I wasn’t but it was very nice of him to think so.

I love that they're such a real couple with their own set of likes and dislikes. They have habits that annoy each other and they say things they don't mean. But they couldn't do without the other.

This third installment is not as angsty, but I still enjoyed it for the simple reason that Edie is hilarious.

When I’d asked them what they wanted to be when they grew up, Johnny said that he wanted to change his name to Fred and Hank had wanted to be a rabbit. Little freaks.

Edie is such a paradox. She's so mature yet immature at the same time.

This is the last of Edie and Dylan. I think it's mainly because they have fought about everything under the sun. There is no drama left. They have completely run out of reasons to break up and so it is the end.

I really enjoyed this series. It went really fast and whizzed through emotions like a poker machine. But it was a great journey.

Unlike the first two books in this series Sealed with a Kiss took me a while to get into. Alot of the time I didn't see the point of the first 25% of the book, Edie and Dylan were just planning their trip to America and arguing as usual over pointless stuff.

Overall, I have a love hate relationship with this series. Dylan and Edie are the cutest couple and they are very real to me. I loved their trip and felt they really grew as people although Dylan was an ass alot of the time. I understand their circumstances and felt their problems as a couple were realistic.

Alot of things about this book annoyed me. Veronica turns up at Dylan's party randomly which obviously causes an argument with Edie but then she doesn't appear again. Talk about a waste of time! Poppy is a jerk to Edie for no reason and is a total bossy cow. I'm going to mention the writing again because there is just no improvements in that area at all.

The ending was... I have no idea.

This series is good but not great and overall Sealed with a Kiss was an okay conclusion... I think.

Okay, I wasn't happy with the end at first. But then I read Sarra's author note, and now I'm okay with it. She mentioned that she liked to think of Edie and Dylan frozen in time on that London street, and I do too. I like being able to make my own ending.
And she also mentioned that the trilogy was for teens and if she'd written another novel, it would've left the teendom and she didn't want that.

I love Sarra Manning and all of her books. You Don't Have To Say You Love Me is my favorite, this trilogy is a close second- tied with Adorkable.

I was a bit weary about starting this trilogy, but I'm glad I did. I love Edie and all of her quirky nonsense. And I LOVED her character development. She started out as an annoying, whiney 16 year old girl whose only tragedies had been color clashing and chipped nail polish. By the end of this book, she was a mature woman who could handle whatever was thrown at her, even if sometimes she handled things wrong at first. Edie will always have a place in my heart.

Dylan and Edie are finally back together and now they are stronger as a couple. After a long time without fighting, Edie and Dylan plan to go travel the United States for nine weeks. They know the trip will be amazing but after they come back, Edie has to go to an University and will leave Dylan behind. When they get to America the first stop they take is in New York. The trip is going good until Dylan starts having angry outbursts and then leaving Edie at a random place and telling her he will be back in a couple of hours. Edie is becoming suspicious and soon they start the fighting again.
Diary of a Crush #3 is really good book because it has some suspense and it made me keep wanting to read more and more. I also like the way Sarra Manning writes.
What I think the book could have improved on was the ending because I feel like it could have had a longer ending and more explanation for what happens next.

In this book, Edie and Dylan are finally stable and they are planning to go on a trip. They're so excited because they've always wanted to be on the road together, but suddenly things turn up when they arrive in New York. Dylan constantly leaves Edie in the middle of the road for hours, to do god knows what. Edie gets really frustrated and just throws a fit and cries and Dylan still doesn't realize what he's done. A little into the book Edie gets fed up with Dylan and doesn't talk to him but then Dylan finally comes out to tell her that he has found his dad and that they have kind of reconciled their relationship. It's a very difficult relationship they have but overtime they learn to become better and not have any problems. Together they all enjoy their journey and it's the last of it before Dylan and Edie go home.

It was a sad day when this was the final instalment of Edie's diary.

Sealed with a Kiss see's Edie and Dylan finally together (collective sigh of relief) and all around more grown up. After all the drama and pressure (not to mention psychotic girlfriends and twisted brothers of said psychotic girlfriends) Edie and Dylan made it through, albeit a little on the scathed side, but they made it through together. But the fight isn't over yet. Throw in a road trip holiday, zero alone time and a summer in the Deep South and things will get interesting. And oh, they do.

With this being the last of Edie, a sense of mourning will be felt when the final page has turned. But that's when you go back to the first book and start all over again!

It is definitely annoying how Dylan and Edie keep breaking up and it’s over the smallest things that they never seem to be able to get over. Honestly i get that Dylan not telling her sucks and it was not great to do but why did she break up with him? She still loved him and what would keep them together isn’t their love it’s their ability to move over and resolve problems like that. Honestly they wouldn’t last in the era world but i guess that’s what books are made for. Still it was a good read that i enjoyed and the nostalgia makes it even better. I still like the first book the most though even though i had originally gave the series 4 stars i’ve changed it to 5 just because i think i’m bias with the nostalgia.

I relly enjoyed this book maybe its something that i could related to. I feel as that Edie is just another me. Throughout this book, i could see the growth and the path she has made to become a more indepedent women. This book is just another example of the book i had read " Who am i without him". This book is just another book that all teenagers should know. Because some of the problems that Edie had face other teenagers had face the same thing too; such as me. I recomanded this book not just because its about romace but its about a life choice that all teenagers girl need to make in their life.

Edie and Dylan? Are they together or not? With them it is hard to tell. They go on and off. They are good for each other but sometimes they forget who they are. When they go on a trip to New York nothing is the same, secrets are forming and everyone is doing their own thing. Will they last?

I can make a text-to-text connection with the book, The Heartbreakers, by Pamela Wells. They are sort of the same because they both break up and they are all going through some difficulties in there life. Some people have trouble making up there minds.

I would give this book 4 stars because sometimes the book got off topic or it just started boring me to death.

Not my favorite of the three, but still great!

Originally on my blog: http://ilovedthisbook.blogspot.com

I think Manning's later stuff is more polished, but I'll tell you why these were so great to me. First of all I love Edie who is our voice for the three books. I love how she grows up and matures in the books. I love that she has the same weakness for moody art boys that I had when I was her age. I love all the kissing. I love the Britishisms that Edie uses in sassy ways to make me laugh. I love that this is a story about two people you cheer for, but aren't quite sure they are that good for each other either.

This book is a really nice book if you like drama and romance in your book.

In this book there are things that can relate to teenagers lives. This book does keep you wanting to find out what happens next. Some parts of the book will leave you speechless ( in a good way). There is a lot of DRAMA in this book up it is a very interesting book to read and I really enjoyed it and I think lots of other people/ girls will enjoy this book as well. So I really hope if you do read this book that you really do enjoy it and like it like I did.

I would recommend this book to people who like drama and romance in there books.

I really enjoyed this book; it is the third book to the series of Diary Of a Crush. What I enjoyed most was the character's growth throughout the story. Edie has turned into an independent woman who thinks twice about making decisions. Her love life was the plot of the story and as the reader, I felt that I was there to know what was going. I liked how it was formatted into a diary-type story. I would recomment this series to anyone, mainly girls because I feel that some teenagers are able to relate to the problems that Edie faced. I was able to relate to her at some points too.

My sister read these books to me when I was younger, leaving out the explicit bits I was too young for. I promised that when I was her age back then I would read these. So reading these books I could'nt help but think how long I had waited to read them. Can I just say that the wait was entirely worth it, but the ending was quite abrupt and I want to know what happens next!!! But this is one of those books you need to be old enough to understand about life as a young adult to enjoy and understand.

The little couple saved up money to have a great trip to america! Edie and her friends finally got their own apartment, finally got freedom without the control of their families, is that amazing?
Your own future is controlled by yourself, just remember in order to reach something, some actions must be made and some must be sacrificed.
I've always want to have a 'small' trip to another country, actually would love to go to more than one with my friends using our own money, and it would be so fantastic if we don't have to worry too much about spending over the limit.

Dylan and Edie's relationship in my eyes is so strong even though they've gone threw a lot of rough patches (AND I MEAN A LOT) they are still as close as ever and during this road trip i think it shows really the true love that Dylan had for Edie like a one point Edie gets really ill (the type of ill you need to go to hospital for) and at that part they are in a fight but the way Dylan reacts is just so ADORABLE love them as a couple.

P.S i'M SO GLAD THEY DIDN'T GET MARRIED and i <3 JESSE
P.P.S Poppy annoyed me soooo much
