Jonah’s new twin must time travel and face off against his siblings’ worst enemy in order to save the future—and his family—in the eighth and final book of the New York Times bestselling The Missing series, which Kirkus Reviews calls “plenty of fun and great for history teachers as well.”

After traveling through history multiple times and finding out his original identity, Jonah thought he’d fixed everything. But some of his actions left unexpected consequences. His parents—and many other adults—are still stuck as teenagers. And now Jonah has a new sibling, an identical twin brother named Jordan.

As odd as all this is for Jonah, it’s beyond confusing for Jordan. How does everyone in his family have memories of Jonah when he doesn’t? How can his annoying kid sister Katherine speak so expertly about time travel—and have people from the future treating her with respect? A few rash moves by Jordan send them all into the future—and into danger. What if he’s also the only one who can get them back to safety, once and for all?

Finales are hard. They can be written well with satisfactory endings. But many times, they are not. They seem rushed or have too many loose ends. Sadly, Redeemed was not a good ending, in my opinion, and this is why I think it was not.

I feel like a lot of people on Goodreads really enjoyed this last book. I tried really hard to like it, but I just couldn't.

First of all, the last book in an eight book series has a different narrator. No one asked for Jordan when we have Jonah! Granted, I actually really appreciated the twin twist. Not very many books feature identical twins, and if they do they're all wrong. Sorry guys, Fred and George Weasley are not good examples of actual twins. Haddix highlighted some of the struggles of being overlooked and mixed up as a twin, which was really relatable and very accurate. It makes me wonder if there is a set of twins in her life that she based it off of because it was written VERY well. That's probably the only thing I liked about this book, not gonna lie. (I am an identical twin so I am an EXPERT on this stuff lol)

Jordan ended up being a pretty decent character, but I'm still upset that in the LAST BOOK, our mains Jonah and Katherine did almost nothing. This is similar to The Blood of Olympus, when Percy and Annabeth didn't get povs in the FINAL PERCY JACKSON BOOK. Whatever I won't get into that.

Okay so I guess the first seven books in the series feature the gang going back in the past, so in the last one they're going to go to the future! Fun!1! I wish we could have gone to the past again, because I LOVED when they did that, but I understand why they went to the future instead.

Why were the last two books in this series so incredibly confusing?! This is a middle grade series I read mostly in elementary and middle school!! It was NEVER this confusing. Not to mention, the 'final battle' and resolution was poorly explained and full of deus ex machinas. Nothing made sense!! If you asked me anything about how the paradoxes and multiple dimensions were resolved, I wouldn't be able to tell you.

I thought Kevin/Sam Chase/Second Chance was done four books ago, so I was a little surprised when he came back. His plot line wasn't so bad, but the fact that even his thirteen year old self was able to predict the actions of Jordan and Mr. Rathbone before any of it happened just because he was some mega-genius was unrealistic, plot service, and a complete deus ex machina. I found it very hard to believe that he knew the secret to aging/un-aging at thirteen.

Also who even was Mr. Rathbone? Where did he come from? Why did Haddix add some new random villain in the last book? That didn't seem cohesive to me.

Also, let's not forget that these kids are young middle schoolers. Katherine can still fit into and shop at Justice. What's with all the stupid pairing off?? We do not need this much romance! It's kind of weird to me. They're still kids! I thought Angela and Hadley all of a sudden 'being in love' and adopting baby Gary and Hodge was super weird. When did they even meet?

Overall, this book felt very different from the previous titles in many alienating ways. I loved this series to death as a kid. This series sparked my love for reading in fourth grade, and I can probably cite it as one of the first things that made me realize how much I love history. Maybe it inspired my love for history. So I'll give it that. The beginning of this series is so near and dear to my heart. I'll probably just ignore the existence of Redeemed because it disappointed me. Still, great series overall, thank you Margaret Peterson Haddix!!

I NEED THIS! I NEED THIS! I NEEEEEEEEEED THIS! RIGHT! NOW!
DO YOU SEE THAT COVER!? THE WHOLE TIME MACHINE THINGIE IS EXPLODING!

I know when the last book ended the whole space-time continuum/world-vortex/all life as we know it was on the verge of dying, but this just scares me! Does this mean that now all time is going to end? (Obviously not, but I'm ranting, don't sush me!) And, if I heard right, this book is no longer from Jonah's POV, but now Jordan's!!!! In my opinion, this doesn't feel very good....

So, um I guess we'll just have to wait and see whether or not everyone dies and if the whole fabric of time ends.... I'm ever so slightly scared

After reading, I guess....

Well, I guess this is the part where I tell you what I thought of the book, because I finally read it.

IT.

ABSOLUTELY.
AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

I'm not going to go all fangirly and freaky-outy by making this entire review a compilation of what I just did up there. But, I will tell you that I liked this a lot.
For all of you people who have read the other Missing Books the whole way and loved them but now you're all like, "I don't know if I should read it because I'm afraid it might not be as good as the others--wah wah wah, blah blah blah!" Well let me ask you to do something: Scroll up to the top of this review. Look at those little red stars on the left--count them. There should be five. The highest rating allotted for books on Goodreads. Do you know what that means?
I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK.
I'll be honest, the beginning of this book was a little confusing--considering how it's been about a year since I read Revealed --but this book did a good job at refreshing my memory. And, even though it was absolutely not what I had expected in my months of wondering what the end would bring, Margaret Peterson Haddix simply did what she does best: she wrote a good book.

Not only did it bring to a conclusion everything that happened in Revealed, but it also introduced a new problem and antagonist. I won't Reveal what or who, but let's just say that our characters might have Found a way to give themselves a Second Chance to Redeem one another. But let's just hope they don't get Caught amidst too much danger or--
You know what? I give up. You probably get the gist anyway.

(Haha, I love puns. They're punny.....

That's all I have to say.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I finally finished the first series that I ever fell in love with as a kid! I started reading this series in fourth grade when I picked the first one up at a scholastic book fair, and it changed my life. Now I am going into tenth grade and I am so emotional right now. I am going to spoil the series and this final book a bit so please read at your own discretion!

Wow, at first I was really skeptical about this book because it had a different POV. Like, the first 7 books were all in Jonah's POV, but then the final one totally changes it up by making it in Jordan's POV?? Jonah has been the main character for the entire series, and it just didn't make sense that she would change it all of a sudden. However, Haddix did it very well and made Jordan's character just as interesting as Jonah's.

I was also skeptical about the whole "twin brother" thing, but I came to appreciate it as I went through the story. As a twin myself, I am always interested in reading about main characters who are twins. Also, Haddix handled the whole "twin" thing really well in my opinion. Some authors totally disregard the fact that twins are different people and make their twins identical in every way. It's unbearable!! But Jordan and Jonah were distinguished from each other (and maybe that's because they never knew each other) but similar at the same time, which is very realistic. Also, I was smirking the whole time Jordan was complaining about people thinking he was Jonah. Get used to it!! :D

This series as a whole has been so much fun to read, and my sister and I loved to theorize on who Jonah was from the past. So it was a little disappointing when it turned out he was just an orphan baby who was going to die from malnutrition. I am a history nerd and always liked the history aspect, so it was kind of a let-down. Oh well, I understand why she did it.

The best book in the series was Torn without a doubt. I read Torn in 5th grade, and it totally inspired my obsession with Henry Hudson. Ever since then, Henry Hudson has been my favorite explorer. Also, I am such a lover of books that take place on a boat. Sent was great too because I love the English monarchy and the late Middle Ages/early Renaissance period. I favor the earlier books in this series because of their great historical settings, but I Haddix ended this series very well. Her stories remained humorous and suspenseful, if a little predictable. The technology in this series is so sophisticated that it was at times hard to understand exactly what was going on, but in the end I loved how everything turned out.

I liked this story and I liked the ending, but I felt like it was a pretty weak ending to what has been a really fun series. First off, the whole time travel thing started to get confusing in the last book, but it really ramped up in this one. I got confused about which timeline we were talking about, and Second's genius became completely off the charts as we learn what he was able to accomplish as a 13-year-old with regards to time travel. In fact, by that point, I couldn't remember if he had known about time travel before that or if he'd had previous experiences or if there was one timeline where he did or did not know; I was somewhat lost about that whole thing. I also wasn't a fan of Jordan, who was really kind of a spoiled brat. Looking back, I think he was kind of like how Jonah was at the very beginning, except we've had the opportunity to watch Jonah (and Katherine) mature over 7 books. Jordan seemed to do a similar maturing, except he did it much faster and that just seemed a bit unrealistic. Despite these flaws, I do like how redemption was possible for Second, and the way the author accomplished the redemption was fitting, especially when it comes to the Skidmore family. As unrealistic as the speed of Jordan's maturity and understanding of time travel was, I did like how he came to understand how fortunate he really was. But this series has always been about Jonah (and Katherine), as well as JB, and I feel like they didn't get nearly the amount of screen time I wanted them to have. So I liked this book, but I didn't love it. I would still recommend the series though!

Jordan is perhaps the most annoying, whiny little poopyheaded stinko character that I have ever had the displease of reading.
On another note, do not under any circumstances, read this book. It was a bunch of crap. If I could time travel I would go back in time and make sure Margie didn't ever write this.
Luckily I am #blessed to be done with this series forever. Giving away books 1-3 from our shelf ASAP.

Actual rating: 1.5 stars because I'm salty

Have you ever been reading a huge series, and then you get allll the way through 7 books and then you hit the 8th and you're like, "You know what, I'd LOVE to read about a different POV character right now!!!"
Yeah, me neither.

Here's the thing - the actual ultimate conclusion was pretty interesting. It had some good ideas. But was it tainted because Jordan was the narrator and not Jonah? YEP.
What a disappointing end to finally finishing a series I loved as a child.

This review is also available on my blog, Read Till Dawn.

It's over. It's actually over. No more waiting for Missing books, no more begging my parents into driving me to Barnes & Noble on release day, no more bugging my sister/roomie with chants of "Only three more days now! Three more days!" as I count down to a new book. No more adventures with Jonah and Katherine, no more huge identity reveals that I never saw coming. I still have Margaret Peterson Haddix books to look forward to, but no more Missing books. And since I've been reading the Missing series for as long as I've been reading Haddix's books, that is really, really weird to me.

But enough about me, how was the book itself? Well, I'll start with the negatives. And they all boil down to one main factor: Jordan. Not that I have anything against the poor boy (in fact, I had been biting my nails to learn more about him since he showed up at the end of Redeemed!), but he just isn't Jonah. I spent seven books getting attached to Jonah - seven books! That's a lot of pages. Those were a lot of years. The experiences I share with Jonah simply aren't there with Jordan, and so no matter how interested in his story I am I'm still more interested in Jonah's. And sadly, we don't get as much of Jonah as I would have liked. He's there, of course, and there's definitely some tension going on between him and Jordan, but he and Katherine get separated from Jordan about two-thirds of the way into the book and then that's it. No more Jonah and Katherine. Ick.

Also, I would have liked a bit more exploration of the whole twin issue. Jonah and Jordan are practically identical (because nature and nurture were both working to keep them that way), but it did slightly grate on my when people said they were practically "the same person." I mean, Margaret Peterson Haddix of all people should be able to write about genetically identical kids raised in near-identical situations - Jordan isn't just a reboot of Jonah, a "what-if" version that would have happened if Jonah had never discovered time travel. He's a real, unique, individual person. And I couldn't tell if Haddix was ignoring this, or if she simply didn't have time to deal with it when so many things were already going on in the story.

So there's the negative. What about the positive? Again, it mostly boils down to Jordan. You know, Jonah's brother, the one who got time travel (and an identical twin) dropped into his lap. How could Jordan not be awesome?! Jonah-shortage aside, there were a lot of advantages to being inside Jordan's head this time around. He acts like a time-traveling idiot for most of the book, but somehow that never really bothered me. I actually really liked the fact that he was so naive, because it's realistic. If the Jonah from Found had been dropped into Revealed, he would have been just as terrible at time traveling as Jordan is. Speaking of our dear time-traveling pro, I also dearly love the glimpses we get of Jonah throughout Redeemed, as he tries not-very-hard to hide his disgust at having an identical twin brother dropped into his life. That's probably why I got so frustrated about not being inside his head while all of that was going on.

I also loved reading about everything through a newbie's eyes. I learned the ropes of time travel alongside Jonah (actually, inside Jonah!), and I love him to pieces but it's true that my knowledge-base is exactly the same as his. With Jordan, I'm the old hat and he's the clueless newcomer to the table. Being in his head, and watching him try to get a handle on Jonah when I already know him so well, is neat. And through Jordan we get to see how much everyone respects Jonah. Very, very cool! I also love the scene about halfway through, when they go through a re-hash of some of the most dangerous moments in the past seven books. I literally squealed when Jonah said "Richard III" and I realized what was happening! Somehow it was even cooler reliving it through Jordan's eyes, because he spent the whole time freaking out about all the crazy things that happen.

Anyway, this is shaping up to be the longest review I've written in a very long time. I guess I'll stop now, but I could go on and on. I have been waiting for this book for literally five years, and I am so, so thrilled to have finally read it. A few (fairly necessary) disappointments aside, Redeemed was everything I had hoped it would be, and I absolutely loved it.

Though I do wish Jonah would have narrated the epilogue.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed reading Redeemed and it provided a nice closure for the series and will defiantly go on my classroom shelves, however, this was my least favorite of almost all the books MPH has ever written. Time is a difficult concept to capture in print anyway, but this book was very difficult to follow and seemed to twist and turn with no rhyme or reason, even after you find everything out. I also found that I really did not like the new main character even as the book ended. He starts out as a whinny annoying child who never redeems himself even at the end. Sadly, most of the story centers around him instead of Katherine and Jonah so I really felt like this story went on far to long.

Also, in a good mystery, the author provides clues, although sometimes very subtle ones, that make the ending, no matter how surprising, comprehend-able. It fits. But this book just rambled with the kid/s and never gives the reader the clues needed to figure out ANYTHING that is going on and the ending just seems surreal and unbelievable. Combine that with the dislike of the main character and it becomes uninteresting as well.

I ended up finishing the book simply because I wanted to know the end of the whole story. How Kat and Jonah end up and how the time problems work out. So, I know what the words say, but I didn't quite understand it all and feel like overall a phenomenally brilliant series just flounders and stalls at the end leaving me as the reader more disappointed than if the book had never been written at all.

However, having said all that, I still have to say that MPH's stories are still some of the best written literature for young and pre-teen adults that exists. This series is also an engaging and interesting story-line overall, but this last book was not up to the standard. I would still recommend them as good books for kids and adults as a complete series.

NOTE: Spoilers if you have not read Revealed

Short and Simple Review
So, this is the last book in the Missing series! I thought that Revealed ended pretty well, so I found it odd that there was one more book. What's even stranger is the fact that this is not from Jonah's POV. At the end of Revealed Jonah comes home after saving time to find that three dimensions have merged and he now has a twin brother, Jordan, who had been raised in another dimension. This book is from Jordan's POV. I'll be honest, I did not like Jordan's narration. I can understand where he is coming from, he has no idea who Jonah is (and Jonah seems to be wise and better at everything), has no knowledge of time travel, and is scared for his parents, but this made him an annoying character at points. As a reader, we know what Jonah went through so it's annoying to have it repeated and it's tiring to read from the perspective of someone who is perpetually confused. The book itself was even confusing because things went so quickly or were explained so strangely that I had to reread parts to see what happened. Also, since Jordan knew nothing about time travel, he kept making stupid decisions. Another reason why I had difficulty getting into this book was that there was a large focus on Second and his background. This brought up some interesting things, but it has been a while since I read the book Second was featured in so some parts did not have as much of an impact on me. The book did end on a nice note, but overall, this was my least favorite in the series, although this is a great time travel series.

"Yesterday I mailed my editor the final copyedited/proofread/finished version of REDEEMED, the eighth and very last book in the Missing series. Today I suddenly realized I won’t write (or rewrite) anything about Jonah, Katherine, Chip, etc., ever again. After hanging out with them for eight years, it feels a little like sending kids off to college… in another galaxy. Where I won’t ever see them again. On the bright side for everyone else: REDEEMED is coming your way Sept. 8, with a lot more time travel and twists and surprises!"

Im dead. #confused #thoughtitended #stillneedthebook

Definitely the worst book in the series. Why did Haddix change the POV for the last book? Why were our heroes, Jonah and Katherine, sidelined in this book. This book was extremely confusing. Nothing and I mean nothing made sense. Things twisted and turned with no reason. I still don’t know how the multiple dimensions and time paradoxes were corrected. Unfortunately, this was not a very satisfying conclusion to the series.

Easily my least favorite out of the series. I don't like how there wasn't a final book from Jonah's perspective. Not really. And the story was just confusing and complicated to pull it all together. Really not a good ending.

Redeemed by Margaret Peterson the concluding book to The Missing series. Including characters such as Jonah, his alternate timeline brother Jordan, their sister Katherine, and JB (janitor boy). The book starts from the perspective of the new brother Jordan discovering all of the time altering events that have occurred within the family. Jordan has trouble understanding it and thinks most of it is a big joke. The happy ending that we should have seen has been effectively ruined by Jordan and his very unconventional decision which to this point have done no good. I feel like the book as a whole was not a good idea. It takes the cliff hanger and turns it into an utter free fall into a sprawled out mess. The previous book ended on a great note with Jonah being the hero to save himself when all was presumably destroyed beyond repair. The book's ending does however have a sweeter ending with for whatever reason love prospering and Jordan coming to terms with his time traveling siblings. I would not recommend this book to anyone personally but please if you think the book might be for you be my guest.

I read this series, and I LOVE IT! It has all of the elements (and more) that the greatest authors MUST HAVE in order to produce the best books of all time! Fun, action, fear, twists, surprise, and everything else. When I read this, I can't tell you how many times my heart stopped beating, I screamed in anguish, I was so happy I almost cried, I was stricken to sadness. I thought the characters were real when I read this series. I was angry with the whole new brother situation at first, but by the end, having Jonah, Katherine, Kevin, and Jordan was perfect! I think I'm actually gonna go home and start reading it again!

Weird way to end the series but interesting overall. At some point you knew how it was going to end so it was a bit predictable but also all over the place. Loved the series as a whole and felt like a throw back to when I was a kid. Would love to see this series into a TV show

I like the ending... hate Jordan.
Jordan is so obnoxious! He's like Jonah was at the beginning of book 1! I hated Jonah in book 1, but by book 4-5 ish he becomes better, and then everybody is like "whew! So glad he is over being obnoxious." Now in this book you throw in a character that is just like Jonah was at the beginning just worst! WHY!!!! What annoyed me most about the whole Jordan/Jonah thing is that when Jonah saved everyone in book 7 everyone was just like, "good job." On the flip side, Jordan saved everyone by just purely watching Katherine and Jonah's experiences, and everybody freaks out and is like "Wow Jordan you are the most amazing person ever! You did such a great job! You are so fantastic!" So let me just double check here... we are supposed to ignore everything that Jonah did books 1-7 and focus only on what Jordan did in book 8? I fail to see the logic in that. Let's not forget to mention that Jordan had Second pretty much manipulating the entire situation and making it so it was pretty hard for Jordan to mess up.
Second Chance was actually one reason I really liked this book. He is awesome! He was dead, and he was still able to manipulate everyone into doing what he wanted them to do! Super cool! He is my favorite character in this series. Period.
Another thing that I liked about this book is how everything worked out in the end.
An aspect of the story that I did not like was the fact that they shut down time travel at the end. That was really annoying. Stupid Gary and Hodge! I just think that they should have put more restrictions on it instead of getting rid of it all together.

In the first 7 books in this series, Jonah was the main character and narrator. This book switched to Jordan which really threw me off. I can see why it got switched and it did make sense with the story, but it really felt weird to me. That was the biggest reason why this book was a 3 star read for me.
The overall story was ok. I like how most of it took place in the future when all the others took place in the past. How can you have a series of time travel books and only have the characters go to the past and not the future?
Again, I feel like at the end everything was explained and it was a little muddy and confusing to follow. I may have been able to follow it better if I had read a physical copy instead of an audiobook, but it really just confused me even more. There were a lot of twists in this one and it kind of felt like too much.
The ending was a nice wrap up where everything could either be ended, or there could be a spin off series or something about Kevin which was kind of fun.

Well, I've finally finished this series. I'm not too entirely sure what to say about this last installment to it. It took me a very long time to get into this story; I think the biggest reason for that was the fact that I had to get used to a new narrator. That's the one aspect of this book I didn't really care for. I was sad that for that last book in the series, the one that is the most important, I would lose Jonah's perspective. But in the end it wasn't too bad, and Jordan was a pretty likable character. Once I struggled past the first good chuck of the book I read it very quickly. The last half was fast paced and exciting, and is the main reason I gave this book four stars. Everything came together very well in the end. I like how even though all of the lose ends were tied up, you're still left guessing about certain things in the future. The ending was quite perfect. You did a lovely job on this series, Mrs. Peterson Haddix.

The book “Redeemed” by Margaret Peterson Haddix is an amazing conclusion to “The Missing Series”. Haddix creates a beautiful story as she added a new character the best page turning series in your local library. Jordan always grew up as an older brother. One day some kid that looked exactly like Jordan showed up in his living room. HIs twin Jonah. In my opinion Haddix could’ve been stronger on the use of common knowledge in important situations. Overall a very strong piece of literature to conclude a fantastic series. This book would be an extra entertaining movie series as it contains many next generation ideas. This can be a book that we remember as the beginning of an era full of time travel ideas.

The most confusing of the eight books. I read the first seven in rapid succession and this one took me forever (well, five days, but that could have been because I have a teen finishing up school right now so we're mega busy) to get through. I think I would have been happy stopping after book 7. That said, the whole concept of time travel is fascinating, and Haddix does a good job tying multiple story lines together from books 1-7; introducing a "new" character (twin) this late in the series, however, felt unnecessary.

Granted, this is intended for a younger audience, but, personally, I, as an adult, loved it. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is the last book in the series, so, don't read it until you have read all the others, as it will not make sense. This story is told from Jordan's viewpoint, and he learns a lot in it (don't want to say too much, as it will be a spoiler). Fast-paced, fun, and not just for tween and teens! Try reading the whole series!

A disappointing end - I prefer the stories of the kidnapped children. Also, why the word screamed all the time. Yelled, shouted, there are other modifiers. Also, elucidators abilities changed significantly over the books and no explanation is ever given.

I can't believe it's over. It's been an amazing 8 years! Loved the ending but I still want more.
