(aka Jaz Parks).

This is a mission unlike anything my vampire boss, Vayl, and I have ever been on. It's not our usual take them out and run; it's an undercover mission that needs the whole gang: a psychic, an interpreter, and a weapons specialist. We're joining a Special Ops team to nail the Wizard, a major terrorist thorn in the military's side. We've...more

I took a look at my status updates before I sat down to write this review. I noticed that at times, I felt a little confused while reading this book and this confusion may have lessened my enjoyment. I decided to take a look at the author’s website and lo and behold there was a handy dandy glossary of terms and names. I read through it and suddenly, I was not so lost. The story now makes sense to me. For those of you who are interested, here is the link for that glossary. Be forewarned that the...more
Kt from A Book Obsession..

Jaz and Vayl typical missions involving taking down a target as quickly as possible, and then getting the heck outta dodge. Their current mission is a little different as they are teaming up with another team to take down one heck of a whopper necromancer called the Wizard. He's been causing mayhem for year and no ones been able to stop him. Despite this, things would be pretty simple for Jaz and Vayl if they also didn't have to figure out the Mole in the other unit that has been feeding the Wiz...more

This is the 3rd book in the Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin. So far there are 4 books in this series, with the 5th scheduled to come out Jan'09. Overall the latest I read is that there are 8 books planned for the series right now. This was another great book.

Team Jaz finds themselves shipped over to the middle east to help Jaz's twin brother, Dave, take out a terrorist called the Wizard. Dave has identified a mole in his Special Ops team and it is up to Jaz, Cassandra, Bergman, and Vayl to f...more

I really enjoyed this next book in the Jaz Parks series. I love Jaz's character - she's strong, sarcastic, feisty, but at the same time has an emotional side, but one she does not necessarily want to share with the rest of her CIA assassin team.

In this book, Jaz and her team go to Iran to team up with a Special Ops team, led by her twin brother David, to take down The Wizard, a necromancer who has been causing death and destruction for years, but has constantly evaded capture. The relationship b...more

This is the third book in Jaz Parks Series and I have to say I am enjoying this series very much.

I do not think that this is my favourite book in the series so far, but it is not like I hated it. Book was funny, intriguing and mysterious. However I do find that the mystery behind the story was solved too quickly. The mystery of who the mole is of the joint mission between Jaz and her brother team; pretty much without any clues or investigation, Jaz all of sudden figures who the mole is. I do wi...more

Although there is something about this series that keeps me reading, I find it awkward. The constant flashbacks and tangents are extremely distracting, as is the vagueness of Jaz's powers which include some form of astral projection. The descriptions don't provide enough for me to properly visualize the action.

Also, the relationship between Jaz and Vayl seems based on tenuous circumstances. I don't quite understand the connection between them since Jaz seems so confused herself.

I didn't have a...more

This is a series that I am finding gets better and better with each book. When I first started it I was a little thrown off with Jaz's character. I just felt like she was all over the place, and really she is. Her character can go off in a dozen different directions. While it's kind of interesting to read something like that it's also confusing. This is why with this series you have to pay attention to every little detail. Jennifer Rardin does a little backstory on previous events but only enoug...more

First thing , this book is really good. A lot of action, new characters that will make you want to keep reading, great revelations (up to the end, with the new revelation about Jaz father), astonishing bad guys (Jannifer Rardin imagination is incredible)...
...almost everything was perfect...
I'm still reluctant to give 5 stars for one motive: the main characters, Jaz and Vayl, don't convinced me... they are or not a couple? Maybe I start a serie searching for a paranormal romance, and that was...more

I love this series! I adore Jaz and Vayl – they’re so hot together!
Jaz is a smart, sassy, short fused, emotionally disturbed, crazy CIA agent. Vayl is a vampire who’s suffering from the loss of his children and is very pleasing to the eyes.
They’re closer than partners, but they’re still emotionally lost and not ready for each other.

I think I've figured out what bothers me about this series, despite the fact that I enjoy it.

The shifts in time are awkward as hell, two thirds of the book is told in retrospect, Jaz saying 'here is where I am. This is how I got there. This is what happened before that'. That really takes away from any sense of danger or immediacy. I also have difficulty figuring out the world this takes place in, we don't find things out until some random fact it thrown in and we have to believe it has always...more

In every series there seems to be that one book that was more of a filler between two awesome books. I think this one was a filler.
Val, Jaz, and the gang are assigned to Jaz's brother's unit to ferret out a mole. That particular story line was pretty good. I think the sticking point for me was the location of this book - Iran. This location could have been a treasure trove of detail and unfortunately the author really skimped on everything! I wanted to know how Jaz felt 'blending in' how the men...more

yeah, i like bad girls who are assassins that go after those the government want taken care of. I really like how the author has added the main character's thoughts. Yes, i often feel those ways, but do we act on it or not.

i really enjoy this series. unfortunately, this is one of the series that my library has decided that only #3 will grace it's shelves. i picked up #3 and gave it a shot. i'm glad i did.

now i own #1 and #2. i just have to get my hands on #4, 5, and 6... wish i had a book fund...more

Summary (from the book jacket)

We've never gone in with such heavy artillery before, but the more the merrier, right? Um… nope. At least not since Vayl and I learned part of our job is to ferret out a mole concealed in our unit.

In my opinion, Jaz and her friends keep getting better and better with every book. I'm definitely going to keep reading this series!
Jaz has that I'll-kill-you-first-ask-questions-later mentality, that I used to love about Anita Blake. I had lost all hope of finding another heroine who had that quality after the Anita series dissolved into a steaming pile of crap. Then along came the Jaz Parks' series. I love the action, the gadgets, the magic, and the humor. As much as I love Jaz, these books w...more

I liked this book, especially the way the author revealed the realationship between Jaz and Dave. It seemed like she dealt it out to us like a leaky faucet, on drip a time. By the time you got the whole story you were really rooting for her plan. I also like how when faced with another woman with Vayl, Jaz is starting to realize just how much he means to her and how much he could mean to her. I think the Bergman character is super funny. I can just see this geek of a guy trying to "man" up. Why...more

This whole is series is maturing and becoming one addictive ride.

Jaz hooks up with her brother to find a mole...but what happens when your past, that you're slowly trying to come to peace with, comes and slaps you in the face? What do you do when the closest people to you become the enemy?

There is a maturation of Jaz in this book, an awakening of different powers and a reason why she just can't leave Hell behind. Her relationship with Vayl is also questioned and she must find it in herself to bu...more

The third book of supernatural mission impossible. Jaz and her team are deployed to Tehran. Their new mission is to weed out the mole in Dave's unit and find the identity of an evil necromancing wizard. Jaz takes a trip to hell with Raoul. She trades away her card shuffling and gets a demon mark for her trip down. She doesn't remember most of her adventure in hell, as she get bits and pieces back it helped fill in the pieces of the mystery.

Jaz is kick-ass. I love that her team is getting solid,...more

Jaz and her team must find a mole in her brother's special forces team and also take down the notorious and paranoid Wizard at the same time. All the while Jaz is being targeted by the Reavers who have been contracted for her soul.

A very fun book, but it also feels very fluffy. The action is good, the characters are fun (if not very usual), and the story is interesting. My only complaint is probably in the "chicklit" feel I get. It just does not feel very serious. Still, I did enjoy this series...more

Took a little time to get past how the main character talks in cliches but ultimately the storyline was interesting & the characters had page turning chemistry. Totally mindless entertainment but believe me when I say I burned through this series. The cliches come less and less as the characters develop throughout the series.

Don't come here looking to have your intelect stimulated. Great for getting away from your humdrum life for a while.

I'm really sad to know that this author is no longer...more

Here is my problem. I think I am too invested in Vayl and I am only reading these books in order to see where the realtionship goes. I like the other characters but I am beginning to be annoyed with Jaz. I hate that she acts like a hard ass all the time even tho we know that shes not really all that hard outside of her job. Plus the writing is terrible and hard to follow. I keep thinking if I just read one more then they will be together, but now it looks as if I am moving into book 4 and I am s...more

Rardin is getting better with each book in the series. I definitely liked this one the best so far - the mythology continues to deepen and I like that instead of adding tons of new characters with each book we're getting to know the main ones a little better. I'll be interested to see if E. J. pops up as being important again. Already, I'm about done with the love triangle thing with Cole though - between Jaz and Vayl's pasts and the general issues of human/vamp relationships there are really qu...more

Another solid addition to the series, this time Jaz and her team are in the Middle East working with her brother and his Special Ops crew. They are here to kill an Anti-American (pretty much anti-everybody and anything) necromancer...and to ferret out a mole in her brother's team. However, things become even more complicated (it is Jaz) because Hell has noticed Jaz's new abilities a...more

I was born in Evansville, Indiana on April 28, 1965. Mom tells me almost every year what crappy weather it was that day. However I like to think of my birthday as the first frost-free date for my p...more

“So... you're an assassin?" Dave asked incredulously.

"Why do I feel like you'd have used the same tone if I'd just confessed to being a stripper?" I demanded.

"Sorry," he said quickly. "I'm just surprised, is all.”

“We went to the door and I let Asha in. I expected an uberawkward moment when he and Vayl met. But Asha took care of that problem right away. "So you belong to Jasmine," he said in his melancholy voice. It somehow delivered Vayl his deepest condolences without bearing a trace of malice toward me.” 18 people liked it
