Painful as it often is, I've come to realize that writer's block is a sure sign that I'm headed in a wrong direction. Sometimes I'm trying too hard to force a character into a situation where they don't want to go, or I'm starting at the wrong place in a scene. Once I throw a bunch of stuff away and start over, I always find the block is gone. I never end up regretting the loss.(less)
