Compassion: The Ultimate Flowering Of Love (insights For A New Way Of Living Series)
In this tenth volume of the popular Insights for a New Way of Living series, Osho examines the nature of compassion from a radically different perspective. He points out that "passion" lies at the root of the word, and then proceeds to challenge assumptions about what compassion really is. Many so-called acts of compassion, he says, are tainted by a subtle sense of self-importance and desire for recognition. Others are based in the desire not really to help others but to force them to change. Using stories from the lives of Jesus and Buddha and the world of Zen, Osho shows how the path to authentic compassion arises from within, beginning with a deep acceptance and love of oneself. Only then, says Osho, does compassion flower into a healing force, rooted in the unconditional acceptance of the other as he or she is.

In the 1960s he traveled throughout India as a public speaker and was a vocal critic of socialism, Mahatma Gandhi, and Hindu religious orthodoxy.
Rajneesh emphasized the importance of meditation, mindfulness, love, celebration, courage, creativity and humor—qualities that he viewed as being suppressed by adherence to static belief systems, religious tradition and socialization.
In advocating a more open attitude to human sexuality he caused controversy in India during the late 1960s and became known as "the sex guru".
In 1970, Rajneesh spent time in Mumbai initiating followers known as "neo-sannyasins". During this period he expanded his spiritual teachings and commented extensively in discourses on the writings of religious traditions, mystics, and philosophers from around the world. In 1974 Rajneesh relocated to Pune, where an ashram was established and a variety of therapies, incorporating methods first developed by the Human Potential Movement, were offered to a growing Western following. By the late 1970s, the tension between the ruling Janata Party government of Morarji Desai and the movement led to a curbing of the ashram's development and a back taxes claim estimated at $5 million.
In 1981, the Rajneesh movement's efforts refocused on activities in the United States and Rajneesh relocated to a facility known as Rajneeshpuram in Wasco County, Oregon. Almost immediately the movement ran into conflict with county residents and the state government, and a succession of legal battles concerning the ashram's construction and continued development curtailed its success.
In 1985, in the wake of a series of serious crimes by his followers, including a mass food poisoning attack with Salmonella bacteria and an aborted assassination plot to murder U.S. Attorney Charles H. Turner, Rajneesh alleged that his personal secretary Ma Anand Sheela and her close supporters had been responsible. He was later deported from the United States in accordance with an Alford plea bargain.[
After his deportation, 21 countries denied him entry. He ultimately returned to India and a revived Pune ashram, where he died in 1990. Rajneesh's ashram, now known as OSHO International Meditation Resort and all associated intellectual property, is managed by the Zurich registered Osho International Foundation (formerly Rajneesh International Foundation). Rajneesh's teachings have had a notable impact on Western New Age thought, and their popularity has increased markedly since his death.

ได้กลับมาอ่านเมตตาอาทรของ osho อีกครั้งในรอบสิบปี ก็ได้สำรวจมุมมองการมองโลกของตนเองว่าเปลี่ยนไปมากมาย กลับมาอ่านรอบนี้ ถึงกับพยักหน้าตาม osho ได้ ตั้งข้อสงสัยได้ แถมเห็นแย้งในบางสิ่งได้แล้ว 555
'เมตตาอาทร' ยังคงเป็นเล่มที่อ่านได้อย่างสนุกสนาน ยังคงเหวอกับตัวอย่างสุดเว่อร์วังเล่นใหญ่ของ osho ได้เสมอ
นิทานเซนเรื่องฉัพพรรณรังสีสนุกมาก 555 และอุปมาเด็กชาย 3 คนพาหญิงตาบอดข้ามถนนทั้งที่เธอไม่ได้อยากข้ามนั้นเห็นภาพมาก

ประเด็นที่จับได้เพิ่มมาก็คือ พระพุทธองค์แตกต่างจากนักบวชในอินเดียคนอื่นในพุทธกาลอย่างไร คือยุคนั้นก็มีนักบวชสอนให้ทำสมาธิกันมากมายอยู่แล้ว แต่พระพุทธเจ้าสอนให้มีเมตตาไปพร้อมๆ กับทำสมาธิภาวนา เหตุผลก็คือ ก็ถ้าทำสมาธิไปแล้ว รู้แจ้งไปคนเดียวแล้ว จะมัวมาเสียเวลาช่วยคนอื่นให้รู้แจ้งไปทำไม
พุทธศาสนาแตกต่างเพราะไม่ได้แค่สอนให้รู้แจ้ง แต่สอนให้มีเมตตา นำพาคนอื่นๆ ให้รู้แจ้งไปด้วยกัน
แล้วยังจะเรื่องเล่าทางฝั่งศาสนาคริสต์อีก เพราะถ้าพูดไปแล้ว เมตตาก็คือความรักในทางคริสต์นั่นเอง เป็นความรักที่เป็นรักแท้ ไม่ใช่รักแบบละครตบจูบ
คำสอนของทางศาสนาคริสต์ คือ จงรักพระเจ้าด้วยสุดจิตสุดใจของท่าน และจงรักเพื่อนบ้านดังที่ท่านรักตัวเอง
มันคือประโยคที่เราเคยได้เรียนกันมาตั้งแต่เด็กในวิชาสังคม ถึงไม่ใช่คริสต์ก็ต้องคุ้นเคยกับคำสอนนี้
Osho ชี้ให้เห็นว่า นี่เป็นนิยามความรักที่เลิศมาก แต่คนตกม้าตายง่ายๆ กับประโยคนี้
นั่นคือ ศาสนาคริสต์สอนให้รัก 3 แบบ (ซึ่งจริงๆ มันคือแบบเดียวกันนั่นแหล่ะ)
1. รักพระเจ้า
2. รักผู้อื่น - ก็พระเจ้าเป็นสิ่งที่มองไม่เห็น ถ้ากระทั่งคนจริงๆ ที่รูปร่างคล้ายคลึงกับตัวท่าน ท่านยังรักไม่ได้ แล้วท่านจะไปรักพระเจ้าที่มองไม่เห็นได้ยังไง
3. รักตนเอง - คีย์เวิร์ดมันอยู่ตรงนี้! สิ่งที่คนมองข้ามสุดๆ คือตรงนี้ ต้องรักตัวเองด้วย! เพราะรักตัวเองเป็น จึงรักผู้อื่นเป็น และจึงรักพระเจ้าด้วย
สนุกจัง กลับมาอ่านใหม่รู้สึกว่าอ่านง่ายขึ้นเยอะค่ะ ^^
