Dr. Robert Cialdini has spent his entire career researching the science of influence earning him an international reputation as an expert in the fields of persuasion, compliance, and negotiation.

ในยุคที่การหลอกลวงจากมิจฉาชีพเจอได้เป็นเรื่องปกติ การขายต่างตรงและขายทางอ้อมโจมตีใส่เรามากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ มีคนใกล้ตัวเราแม้แต่เราเองโดนหลอกได้หรือลงกลโดยที่ไม่รู้ตัว พวกเขาเหล่านั้นใช้กลยุทธ์แบบใดในการโน้มน้าว

เนื่องจากสัญชาติญาณของบางอย่างของคนเราถูกตั้งโปรแกรมสนองต่อการโน้มน้าวโดยอัตโนมัติเพื่อการอยู่รอดในอดีต (เหมือนอย่างที่ไก่ได้ยินเสียงหุ่นยนต์ร้อง จิ๊บๆก็คิดว่าเป็นลูกไก่และให้การดูแลอย่างทะนุถนอม) ทำให้การฝืนธรรมชาติของเรานั้นทำได้ยาก และมีคนใช้ประโยชน์จากจุดนี้ในการหลอกให้เราทำตาม

โดย Cialdini ได้สรุป 6 วิธี ที่เป็นอาวุธหลักที่ถูกนำมาใช้โน้มน้าว คือ
1. การตอบแทน (reciprocation), การปฏิเสธ-แล้วอ่อนข้อ เช่น การที่เอาของขวัญมาฝาก การทดลองสินค้า การตั้งราคาไว้สูงเพื่อให้เราปฏิเสธก่อนที่จะเสนออีกอย่างที่เล็กลงมาซึ่งทำให้เราปฏิเสธได้ยาก
2. การให้คำมั่น (commitment) เช่น การทำสัญญา การเซนต์ชื่อ การป่าวประกาศต่อสังคม
3. การพิสูจ์ทางสังคม (social proof) เช่น การบอกว่าคนส่วนใหญ่ก็ทำกัน ใครๆก็ใช้สินค้านี้ คนอาชีพหรือวัยเดียวกับเราก็ซื้อ
4. การชอบ (liking) เช่น เพื่อนชวน อ้างชื่อเพื่อน ความหน้าตาดี ความเหมือนกันของบุคลิก/ความชอบ/ความเชื่่อ การมีเป้าหมายเดียวกัน เทคนิคการกินอาหารกลางวัน
5. อำนาจ(Authority) เรามีแนวโน้มที่จะทำตามผู้ที่(เราคิดว่า)มีอำนาจสั่ง เช่น นักการเมือง แพทย์ ครู ผู้พิพากษา แม้แต่คำนำหน้า กับเสื้อผ้าก็นำใช้ให้เราทำตามได้ได้ง่ายๆ
6. ความหายาก (scarcity) เช่น ความคิดว่าจะต้องสูญเสีย การขีดเส้นตาย การต่อต้านการถูกจำกัดเสรีภาพ และการรู้สึกว่าต้องแข่งขัน ทำให้เราโดนกดดันที่จะต้องสินใจซื้อหรือใช้บริการนั้นของผู้โน้มน้าว

อ่านจบรู้สึกว่าตัวเองโดนไปหลายข้อ เป็นเหยื่อของการตลาดและการโฆษณาที่แท้ทรู อย่างไรก็ตามคิดว่าถ้าหากนำมาใช้โน้มน้าวในทางที่ถูกต้องก็เป็นประโยชน์มหาศาลเหมือนกัน

ส่วนวิธี ป้องกันการตกเป็นเหยื่อ คือ "การมีสติ ยึดหลักการเป็นเหตุเป็นผล มองภาพ zoom out ออกมาเป็นบุคคลที่3" พูดง่าย แต่ทำจริงๆยากเลยที่จะมีสติได้ตลอดเพราะอย่างที่บอกมันเป็นการฝืนสัญชาติญาณธรรมชาติของมนุษย์
