Urasawa's work often concentrates on intricate plotting, interweaving narratives, a deep focus on character development and psychological complexity. Urasawa has won the Shogakukan Manga Award, the Japan Media Arts Festival excellence award, the Kodansha Manga Award and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. In 2008 Urasawa accepted a guest teaching post at Nagoya Zokei University.

Cała seria na 4.3. Bardzo równe i solidne mangi.

Część ósmą można określić mianem świetnego zakończenia świetnej serii, która pod wierzchnią warstwą sci-fi skrywała swoją nietuzinkową głębię. Urasawa w typowy dla siebie sposób podaje bowiem tutaj czytelnikowi pewną wciągającą historię, w której każdy będzie mógł doszukać się pewnych innych ukrytych znaczeń. Złożoność interpretacji treści staje się więc wielkim atutem mangi, która na stałe zagościła już w panteonie najlepszych komiksów. Pluto #8 to również satysfakcjonujące zakończenie wielu wątku (które jednocześnie nadal mają dość otwartą strukturę). Jest to również doskonała okazja dla autora, aby skumulować tutaj masę różnorakich emocji (przewijających się w poprzednich tomach). Dawka mocnej akcji jest tu tylko pretekstem, aby wymusić zarówno na bohaterach, jak i samym czytelniku refleksję nad pewnymi złożonymi problemami. Całość fabuły podana jest tu w takiej formie, że spodoba się ona zarówno miłośnikom klarownych zakończeń, jak i tym którzy uwielbiają analizować każdy najdrobniejszy detal komiksu i szukać w nich większego przesłania.
