Kyousuke Motomi (最富キョウスケ Motomi Kyōsuke) is a Japanese mangaka whose stories have frequently been published in the monthly Betsucomi magazine. She is most currently working on Dengeki Daisy.
She uses a male pseudonym and draws herself as a man, but she's actually female."If my stories can touch you, make you laugh, forget unhappy things, or even give you that 'good job' feeling, then I'll be super, super happy!" - Kyousuke Motomi
"You're a wonderful boy, Q! You're worthy of protection. Don't ever think you're a burden for us."
I feel my heart is NOT ready for this new arc! Can we go back to our couple being nice and happy with no danger lurking?! *laugh cries*
Seriously though, the mangaka was spot on in saying recently there would be plenty of surprising revels because while I knew everything with the snake was greater than just Kyutaro, what I didn't expect was how large-scale the issue is. :o :o :o
Also shoutout to Fumi!! She really stood her ground in light of what she was facing in this volume! I can't say I would have had her kind of strength in saying no and fighting back. She is incredible!
This is sort of random, but Koichi has looked much more handsome these past two volumes and unsure why? Maybe because he's not wearing crazy shirts and now has been having a sword on him? Definitely makes a difference in taking him seriously that's for sure! LOL!
Very interested and excited to see where things are going to go in this series even if I'm a little nervous too! Please don't hurt best boy Kyutaro, mangaka!
I will say, I love the domestic vibes this volume started off with, it reminded me of the beginning volumes and how much these types of scenes revealed things about the characters. I also love Kyutaro and Fumi being together and the funny yet sweet conversation he and Koichi had later on about their relationship.
All that said, I STILL don’t understand the whole snake plot line, what it has to do with mental health or trauma, or even what it IS, as all I know is that people have snakes that look like humans locked inside them/possessing them. Okay, and? I honestly don’t see what this has to do with anything that’s been established in this series so far. I’m ESPECIALLY not fond of the lusty tone the snake takes (using Kyutaro’s body, mind you) toward Fumi, that’s just creepy and gross and I don’t like it, it made me very uncomfortable.
Also why do the Seiryu start a brawl on the Genbu Clan’s lawn?! Not to mention they attack Fumi and then are surprised when Koichi threatens them—gee, I wonder why. 🙄 (these people are idiots)
I’m not fond of where this is going with the snake stuff, but I’ll continue with the few volumes I have left from the library and see.
‼️Content‼️
Language: gosh; crappy
Violence: fighting giant bugs, monsters, and humans with weapons, hand to hand, and supernatural powers (PG-PG-13/R); injuries and blood (PG—PG-13/R)
Sexual: a guy and a girl sleep together (not sexually); kissing (PG, though one gets up to a PG-13 level); a mention of slipping a teen boy condoms; a girl is saving “special underwear” to wear around her boyfriend (nothing’s shown); cleavage; while possessed a guy says he’ll give a girl “pleasure” then licks her neck and tries to bite it while straddling her on a bed (nothing happens beyond this)
Alcohol/Drugs: a guy smokes; adults drink alcohol
Other: giant bugs mentally “infest” people; magic; supernatural powers; characters go into people’s minds and clean out bad/negative thoughts/emotions; a girl is called a curse; characters’ spirits step out of their bodies; a girl has several “queens” inside her who often “replace” her for brief periods of time and have different personalities and powers; a guy is possessed and his body is used by a “snake”; snakes lives inside people’s bodies and possess them
Honestly, I don't have strong feelings about this volume. It's mostly setup for the new arc. That said, those horrifying panels of the fake Kyutaro are well-done; you can tell he's not the real deal right off the bat. As always, Fumi and Kyutaro are adorable and I love seeing them together.
*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*
I'm really loving this series and how it is going. The romance is done at such a good pace and the story itself is done so well. It may become one of my favorites.
Admittedly, I'm not familiar with this series; I normally avoid ARCs that fall this far into a series, but the description sounded good, and that gorgeous cover art sucked me in! I picked up enough of the story to get an idea of what's going on, though I would like to read this and the previous series now, because I'm intrigued- I'd like to see how we got to this point. The love story between the two MCs, Fumi and Kyutaro, is omg sweetness! The way he looks at her- oh my heart! But there's that snake sealed within him, that's gonna be an issue.... Then a representative from a rival family shows up, looking for help with a family member who also has a snake sealed within them, and awakens the snake within Kyutaro. The shift in the art signals this as much as the action; Kyousuke Motomi's art throughout is gorgeous and evocative, and this scene is no exception. After reading this volume, I'll definitely be looking for the earlier volumes, as well as the upcoming ones!
Initially NetGalley allowed me to read a digital copy of this book in exchange for a review. I wasn't able to read this copy before it expired, so I read the printed version of this book after it was released. This is my review of the printed version.
Honestly, I was beginning to feel a little disconnected with the series a couple volumes before this one. I couldn't quite figure out the main direction the story was heading with the sinister snake character. I feel like with this volume we're finally having a hint as to who this villain is and what steps Fumi and Kyutaro will be taking next on their journey together.
This is a solid volume for fans of the series/sequel. From cute to funny to serious, it flows easily and naturally without the awkwardness of forced humor in some of the earlier volumes. The art is beautiful and consistent, with a slight change to one character that the mangaka points out. I'd like to see more backgrounds in the panels, especially when they aren't inside a gate, but when backgrounds are used, they're effective. Otherwise, this new arc lines up with the previous one well, so I think we're in for some trouble.
Fumi and Kyutaro are dating but nothing is compromising their goal. The snake inside of Kyutaro had been released and attacks Fumi. Fumi tries to help but going inside his mind and using some of the White Queen's power.
The leader of a rival clan also has a snake inside of them which has caused them to be cold and possible end the clan. The current clan leader does not want them to succeed them, knowing what could happen. On whether they should help or not, by having the two meet to see if they can detect the snake in each other.
This is one of my favorite mangas. I do miss the cleaning tips though! The chapters seem short. Just as the story picks up the chapter is over. I do have trouble keeping some of the male characters straight, they do look similar to each other. I appreciate Fumi’s humbleness but I wondered why she did not stand up to the Seiryu clan to protect Kyutaro. He had to come to her rescue. Well, she is protecting him now. The new volume should be here any day!
I do really love this manga, and this was another great volume. It was not as emotionally intense as some of the previous ones, which was nice. It worries me though, I feel like something really awful is just around the corner.
There was humor. And Fumi and Kyutoaro are so cute in their new relationship. The adults are wonderful and supportive. And there was a moment where I was like, "wait, is Koichi hot?!" He's usually such a goofy character. But yes, he is also hot. It was eye-opening.
I love this series so much - this volume starts off sweet and romantic (Fumi & Kyutaro are so perfect together) but of course, their lives can't be complete without being threatened, and violence ensues. I just can't get over how gorgeous this art is - and the two of them finally together, condom jokes from his family aside, makes for some beautiful moments.
This one had some kind of slow storylines. I still find a lot of the word use, and general story a bit odd and awkward.
The last two thankfully did tie together, but it does annoy me that the story doesn't usually continue on in a logical way. It takes time to pause and pivot to less interesting things most of the time.
Still so captivated by the storyline in this series. Now, we have started a new arc dealing with the snake that’s trapped in Kyutaro.... And Fumi and Q are together now!!!! *high pitch squeals* They are too cute. I love how affectionate Q is towards Fumi.
Questi due ragazzi non hanno proprio tempo per una gioia. Aspettavo tanto che potessero vivere un po' di tranquillità, Kyotaro se lo merita ma anche Fumi, e invece niente... E diamogliela una vera gioia a questi poverini!

I truly can't get enough of Fumi and Q in this series. They have an amazing dynamic that I love to read, and their communication is great as well. I will forever be on their side of this fight, and I can't wait to see what happens in the future.
Starts out domestic and ends with a bang! I really enjoy this series and it's written so well, with lots of tension and emotion, but it never feels cloying to me.
A new possession has appeared! Everyone at Genbu clan is so considerate of other people, even when those people are awful. It's nice to see how Fumi's confidence has grown.
