رواية ( نادي السيارات ) للروائى الكبير علاء الاسوانى ... التي يتناول من
خلالها بأسلوبه الأدبي الجميل القضايا التي تلمس كل إنسان مثل الكرامة

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن أحداث الرواية تدور في أربعينات القرن العشرين وتحكي ضمن أحداثها الحافلة عن دخول السيارات إلى مصر والظروف التي مر بها الشعب خلال هذه الفترة الحافلة من التاريخ

Alaa al-Aswany (Arabic: علاء الأسواني), Egyptian Arabic (Masri) "علاء الاسوانى" (born 1957) is an Egyptian writer, and a founding member of the political movement Kefaya.
Trained as a dentist in Egypt and Chicago, it took him 9 years to earn his degree from Chicago National University where he spent 17 years in his life, al-Aswany has contributed numerous articles to Egyptian newspapers on literature, politics, and social issues. His second novel, The Yacoubian Building, an ironic depiction of modern Egyptian society, has been widely read in Egypt and throughout the Middle East. It has been translated into English, Danish, Finnish, French, Norwegian, Greek and Dutch, and was adapted into a film (2006) and a television series (2007) of the same name.
Chicago, a novel set in the city in which the author was educated, was published in January 2007.
Al-Aswany participated in the Blue Metropolis in Montreal, June 2008, and was featured in interviews with the CBC programme "Writers and Company".

הספר מתרחש בשנות ה- 40 במצרים, תחת שלטון המלך פארוק והכיבוש הבריטי כשברקע התחלת המאבק לעצמאות של מפלגת הופד והקומוניסטים. הספר מתאר את קורותיהם של אנשים הסובבים את מועדון המכוניות המלכותי. מהמלך ורב המשרתים האימתני שלו, עובר במנהל המועדון הבריטי, המשרתים השונים וקרוביהם ואולם במהלך הספר נעשה זום אין על משפחה אחת ועל קורותיו של ארגון מחתרתי.
ספר קולח ועסיסי, כתוב היטב, קראתי אותו בהנאה גדולה והתקשתי להניח אותו מהיד. יש כאן מבט אל חברה ואל תקופה שלא הכרתי.
בצד החסרונות: הספר הוא קולאז׳ של אירועים, אין פה העמקה, להיפך, זה מרגיש כמו סדרת טלוויזיה קלילה ומהנה.
ישנם הרבה סיפורי צד מיותרים שהולכים לשום מקום ושאפשר היה לערוך החוצה.
הספר מלא בתיאורים מיניים של נשים צעירות ומבוגרות (גופם של הגברים זוכה לתיאור אגבי וכללי) שמרגיש לעיתים קצת שוביניסטי ואייג׳סטי בעיקר כיוון שהחלקים האלו בספר לא ממש מקדמים את העלילה.
במקרה דילגתי על הפתיח (הנפוח מעצמו) וקראתי אותו רק לאחר שסיימתי את הספר וטוב שכך כי אולי הייתי מדלג על הספר.
בסה״כ נהנתי ונראה לי שאקרא גם את ספרו הראשון שאומרים שהוא טוב יותר
