Läbirääkimistehnikate ja inimeste mõjutamise “piibel”/klassika, mis sõnastab seitse peamist “mõjustamisrelva”, mida müügimehed meie õnge võtmiseks kasutavad. Raamat mitte ainult ei sõnasta, vaid kirjeldab need väga põhjalikult lahti, üritab selgitada, miks need töötavad, ning lõpuks pakub veel ka meetmeid, kuidas end selliste taktikate vastu kaitsta. Tehnikateks niisiis on vastastikkus (kui teine on mulle teene teinud, on mul kohustus vastuteeneks), kohustumine ja järjekindlus (juba täidetud väiksed palved või antud lubadused panevad meid kergemini täitma eelnevaga kooskõlas olevaid suuremaid palveid, sest tahame näida järjekindlad ja endale kinnitada oma algse nõustumise õigsust; jalg-ukse-vahel-tehnika jne), sotsialane tõendus (otsustamisel lähtume sellest, mida teised (väidetavalt) teevad), meeldivus (eelistame vastu tulla inimestele, kes meile meeldivad ehk kes on füüsiliselt atraktiivsed, meiega sarnased, meile tuttavad), autoriteetsus (kaldume autoriteetidele alluma ja kuuletuma rohkem kui ise seda usume - eriti, kui neil on tiitlid, rõivad/vormiriietus või autod), nappus (asi, mida on piiratud koguses, tundub meile ahvatlevam, sest seostame seda kvaliteediga ja juhul kui me seda ei saa, ka oma vabaduse piiramisena) ja hetkeline mõju (kuna infot on palju, kipume tihti tegema automaatset otsust vaid väga piiratud info pealt, aga see piiratud info võib olla võlts). Lugu on hästi kirjutatud, tõlgitud ja küllaltki mõnusalt loetav, kuid teos pole vaba sellest probleemist, et mulle kui reaalteadlasele tunduvad psühholoogiavaldkonna raamatud enamasti kuidagi umbmäärased. Seetõttu tuleb iga “mõjustamisrelva” selgitada arvukate ligikaudsete näidetega, mis aga pole teistest mõjustamisrelvadest täiesti sõltumatud, vaid pigem üksteise kombinatsioonid, ja seetõttu on vaja tuua veel rohkem näiteid, et iga asja käsitleda erinevast vaatenurgast, mis kokkuvõttes teeb raamatu pikaks ja paksuks (ligi 300 lk). Viimase kahe teema juures tundus autoril ka endal olevat jaks otsa saanud. Kokkuvõttes siiski huvitav ja silmiavardav raamat, mida puhta kullana ei peagi võtma.

Üllatavalt põnev ja terviklik raamat täis näiteid sellest, kuidas meid teadlikult ning alateadlikult igapäevaselt mõjustatakse.
