Blind Date with a Vampire
Samantha Blythe just got out of an abusive relationship and she just wants to find a nice guy to spend a little quality time with. Too bad the guy she finds happens to be a vampire.
Nate Glover isn’t the right type of guy to be a vampire. He’s not a thousand year old Viking or an ancient Roman or a veteran of the Civil War. I wasn't really expecting much for 99 cents but when I finished this book I found myself thinking, ok....give me more. I really enjoyed the characters and the different take on the "alpha" vampire. Instead of "hot steamy hunk-a-hunk-a beefcake" you get polite, gentle, caring and considerate. I'm not saying I don't like the other but this was definitely a nice little change up from the normal vampire stories I typically read.
I'd definitely recommend this book to just about anyone. I wish the author was planning a follow up to this. I'd love to know what's next for these characters.

This was an impulse buy after seeing the catchy title, reading the blurbs and a few reviews. I love vampire stories so was willing to give it a try. This was not a typical vampire story and it was refreshing because of that.
The hero, Nate, is a vampire who was forcibly made in the 1950's, but was a Korean Conflict vet with PTSD issues that transferred into his second life. He chose to hibernate rather than face his new life. Nate wakes in the 21st century with 50's values still in tact. He chooses a unique and honorable way to feed that leads him to find a chance at beating back his shadows and grasping at happiness.
Samantha or Sam as she likes to be called is a good southern girl raised by her Nanna to embrace her older value system. She is recovering from a long term relationship that was loaded with emotional and some physical abuse. She is a pediatric nurse working long hours, but allows her BFF, Pinky to talk her in to trying an on-line dating service not to find her HEA dream guy, but just to get herself back in the dating game. Sam is impressed with a contact, Nate55, who appears almost staid and boring next to the other guys' profiles on the site. His black and white picture even makes him look old fashioned, but it feels right so she accepts a date.
Nate and Sam meet and after some understandable nerves hit it off. Nate came just to get a bite to eat and then clean Sam's memories, but finds that he really is interested not to mention that she resists his mind control. Sam finds a kindred lonely spirit and is willing to give Nate a chance, but their nice 'getting to know you' date is broken up when her ex-fiance Brad shows up drunk and possessive.
Though Brad spoiled the first date and led to Nate revealing his secret to Sam who surprises him by warily accepting the truth. They go out again and this date does not end well either. The relationship is now challenged from inside and from outside forces. It was an exciting read to the end.
As I said before, I found this one a refreshing read. It had to do with the world building which made vampires to be along the original frightening and terrifying sort, but also with the ability to be warm and endearing. I liked how there is a realism about Sam's journey toward accepting Nate which can come across as blowing hot and cold, but it was just reaction to new revelations and Nate working through the truth of his life and what is important. The story flips back and forth between their points of view.
The plot did not lag and the intriguing reveals, particularly in the second half, were attention grabbing. The first half of the book was mostly about the relationship building and the second half of the book deals with the supernatural world that Nate has eschewed for so long. The only thing that gave me a little disconnect which may not affect someone else at all was that I felt there was a teetering in Sam that could not decide whether she was a sweet southern girl with Christian values or a wanton who loved the dark and dangerous. I suspect the conflict in her might have been on purpose, but it still left me confused at times. It was not a huge distraction; it just gave me something to ponder.
The characters particularly Nate and Sam were done well. Nate's friend and fellow vamp Thad was the secondary character that really caught my attention and later I found that my surmises were pretty accurate. There is a villain in the story that I wanted taken down so hard that I could almost taste it.
This book was so enjoyable and I laughingly leave this pun intended statement, Evangeline Anderson has re-vamped on-line dating for me. I know you are groaning now. LOL!

Good book
This was a good book, and I enjoyed the story. I love this Authors books in general they always have a great storyline, combined with hot sex, and true love.

Samantha is pushed by a friend to try online dating since it's been 6 months since she broke up with her boyfriend and she barely leaves the house. She meets Nate online and even though he sends a black and white picture that looks about 50 years old, she agrees to meet him at a local sports bar. Her ex-boyfriend is there and although much larger than Nate, he stops his fist mid-punch. When they sneak out, he tries to hypnotize her and when it doesn't work confesses that he's a vampire. He had put himself in hibernation for over 50 years and now that's he's back, he having a hard time getting used to all the changes around him. They're attracted to each other, but can Samantha get beyond his differences?
Good book, sweet characters that are totally vanilla, well Nate has some butter scotch swirls but he's pretty 4-squared. (See, using hep cat lingo - taking a bow.) It seems to take awhile in book time for them to do something with their attraction, but in real life it would be a wam-bam. I found my mind wandering until about the last 3rd of the book when everything started getting real excited. It seems there will be a sequel to this book the way it ended and I'm planning on reading it if it comes out.

This was cute...and hot!
Nate is an old fashioned guy...and a vampire. The kind that burns in the sunshine. He's been napping for fifty years and the world sure has changed.
Samantha has been in an abusive relationship and is pretty happy with Nate's manners. Oh, and he's HOT, too.
There is a rape scene early on (not with these characters) that was disturbing. So be aware.
There were some HORROR elements here to go with the romance of the moment.
Although the loose ends are mostly tied up, it is set up for a sequel. I just might have to get it!

Evangeline Anderson's books have been hot or miss for me, but I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed this one.
It is not erotica, which I'd been expecting, based on my previous reading experience, but a nice paranormal romance.
I haven't looked really hard, but I was hoping to find a 'book 2,' as there was a nice set up for a story for Nate's friend, Thad. And then there was some implication that Marco, a very handsome character introduced toward the end of the story, might have a bigger role in Nate and Sam's future.

I have read quite a few novels by this author and always enjoy the story she weaves. This was no exception as I was drawn into the story from the very beginning and was reluctant to stop before the end. The main characters are well fleshed and established in a short time so that you can decide how you feel about them for the better or worse. The peripheral characters come clearer as the story progresses though some remain a little murky until the end. The setting is contemporary so there is no particular world building other than to establish the quirks of these vampires.
Nathaniel 'Nate' Glover was an investment banker who came home from the Korean War with a case of PTSD, though they did not call it that then. In 1955 he was coping the best way he could without medication or a doctor with the help of his best friend who took him out for the evening. He gets much more than he wanted when he and his friend are turned by two women they meet. Because he cannot cope with his new life he decides to take a fifty-five year nap and wakes in 2010 where he likes the technology but finds the women a bit forward.

This was a little more than just a blind date, so the title does not seem accurate, but it was definitely a couple of good ones. There is some good action, with a sweet romance and steamy sex scenes. I would say it is a good recommendation.

H hibernated for 50 years after being turned, he felt uncomfortable, and now he's awake he is still struggling to fit in. Meets h online, she is a nurse, caring and cautious. Evil vampire queen kidnaps h and H has to save her. He kills the queen, and has to step up as he is king of coven. It was just OK, H was weak, and h too perfect. Pretty cliched.

Since power is gained from taking blood in this book, Nate is way behind the times. There are two ways to feed; feeding with the good vibes and feeding by terror (which gives you more power). When Nate starts feeding off Sam he gains power very quickly even though he has been laying on the good whammy. Why is this you ask? Because her blood is special of course!
Ok, not exactly spell-binding, but whatev. Meh.
Then Nate's maker (and Empress) demands a tribute and his best friend offers up Sam to her (because she's special, remember?). Nate decides to fight for her, even though this is NOT done because you just don't fight the top-dog. So Sam offers herself up for terror feeding and Nate explains to her that it would be like rape.
Wait...what? Feeding and sex don't have to go together.
So then Sam says, "But if I'm willing it isn't rape, it's just rough sex."
Screeching halt!!!!!!!!!!!
W.T.F.?!
And that's where you lost me kids.
Of course then there is "rough sex" and he gains enough power to beat the evil Empress and happily ever after!
P.S. There is also a scene where they (Nate and Sam) rescue a 12 year old after she is raped by two men on the beach.
I am sorry, I am not down with rape motifs. This dropped it from maybe a 2.5 down to a 1 for me.

Evangeline Anderson is one of my favorite authors. Unfortunately this was not one of my favorite books of hers. The book had too much going on in some ways (there were so many details about the vampire world and I had a hard time keeping some of the characters straight) and not enough in others (the ending seemed abrupt and too many loose ends- especially since there doesn't seem to be more books in the series). Even with all that, this book is still well written and worth a Sunday afternoon read. The book had less "heat" than some of her others but the spark between the H and h was still bright and I enjoyed both the H and h. Heat level is 7-8 (1=Christian, 5= fade to black and 10= erotica).

I loved this quirky little vampire story. The blurb pulled me in and I just couldn't put it down. I'd forgotten to update GR with this one, I'm zipping through books at a clip and that happens. So sue me. :P

3.5 stats. While it was an enjoyable read, I found the beginning to be very slow, and the ending abrupt with many unanswered questions. I'm hoping that it ended this way because there will be at least one more book.

I loved this book. Samantha is so awesome, she made me laugh at what she says & being strong in spirit.
It has a wonderful story to it and I was hooked. I really hope there is going to be more as there is still more to tell with this story

Hg suatu hari,ketika Sam & Nate nntn parade kaum Gay yg di ikuti oleh temen baik dan adiknya,si Sam ilang dr pengawasan si Nate.
Pas di telusuri,ga taunya si Sam ama temen n adiknya di bawa Thad ke rmh Nate.
Di sana,Thad meragain ngisep darah di dpn Sam.
Nate yg kaget melihat betapa shok nya Sam liat apa yg Thad lakuin ke temennya,marah sama Thad dan ngusir dia.
Thad pergi sambil memperingati bhw apa yg dia lakukan sbnrnya hy utk nolong si Nate,Thad da mau gara2 deket sama Sam,Nate bakal dpt masalah dr para petinggi vamps,penguasa wilayah mrk....
Cz Nate yg mulai over protective ama Sam,mulai melakukan kegiatan yg mengancam kerahasiaan keberadaan kaum vampir tsb.

Samantha just wants to find a nice guy. When she finds Nate’s profile on a singles website, she figures he seems nice enough. Nate has been gone for a while. A vampire in this century and needing to readjust to the new world. His first move is to find someone. Not really a hook up but more a simple way to get a little “taste.” With Sam, he finds so much more but with both their pasts, things get complicated.
This is actually a sweet vampire romance. When do you read about a vampire who is truly old fashion? Nate doesn’t like the way that women act now and likes the old ways of courting not exposing themselves. With Sam she had the hot guy now ex, she wants someone that will truly care about her and protector. It seemed like these to were made for one another, even though Nate had to wait for her to be born. Then we have Thad, Nate’s best friend and vampire buddy. I didn’t like him in the beginning and now I know why. Then we have the evil woman that turned Nate. Can’t there be love for once? The story is sometimes dark and sometime sweet. It’s a good mix. It does leave things open for more to come. Only time will tell.

I never ever write reviews for books but I found it disgusting how casual the racism was in this book.
Pinky looked concerned. “Sam,” she said at last, “are you trying to tell me you’re dating a Shiite Muslim or a terrorist or something?”
It was my turn to look confused. “What? Of course not. Why would I date a terrorist?”
How dare the author casually place Muslims in the same category as a terrorist?! Anyone can be a terrorist. It doesn't descriminate between age, race, gender, sex etc. So who are you to discriminiate?
Many people of different shapes and sizes have been terrorists. Terrorism comes from a mindset, NOT a skin colour or faith.
I feel disgust that an author like you who has the power to write something great and correctly educate would abuse your power to promote casual racism.
Have some shame!

reluctant vampire
Not wanting to live life as a vampire Nate slept away 50 years to awaken and decide he doesn’t want to be alone, so tries internet dating. In the mean time all the rules & regulations a new vampire needs to know is something he needs to learn fast when he finds the girls of his dreams is revered amongst vampires.
How can they try and live life outside the vampires and would they be able to or will matters force his hand to be part of his new life.

Exciting vampire story!
I hate to say, having never read Evangeline Anderson, I expected the same old, same old vampire story of boy meets girl, bites girl and so on. NOT SO! A must read on a modern vamp story! Please take the time to give this entertaining book a try! I look forward to more of her novels.

Unique storyline
This book was interesting, unique, and funny. The length of book was just right. Evangeline has certain trademarks that surface. Wouldn’t mind listening to this story with a good narrator like William Martin or Mackenzie Cartwright.

Samantha has been away from the dating world for far too long, or at least according to her friend Pinky. Through a dating site, she meets Nathanial, a guy who will be more different than she could ever imagine. And Nathanial finds out there is more to Samantha than what meets the eye. What will happen between the two of them when Nathanial's "friends" find out Samantha has a special ability?
It has been awhile since I have read this, but I guess it is a good thing I scribble down some notes about the books I have been reading lately, huh? :) Anyways, what can I say about this book that sounds kind of reviewish? :P
This book is pretty much like any other vampire book I have read, but a little bit better. Even though the book is relatively normal for this kind of genre, I can still say I enjoyed it. Errr, well, since it's smut, I can say I would enjoy it either way. :D I've read some of this author's free reads in the past, and I can say this one is MUCH tamer compared to her other smut, so beware if you want to read her other works. :P Oh, and also, it is told by Samantha's POV and Nathanial's POV. :)
Anyways, things I liked about this book is that the author kind of puts in there about safe Internet dating like how Samantha brings her friend Pinky to the place of the date, so she can watch over Samantha (from a distance). I know most people wouldn't think how the author put that into the book is a good thing, but I like to think there are hidden messages and advice in the books I read. :D
Second, the author actually describes her characters, including their hair color (most books just let the book covers do it). Also, I like how the main female character has a hair color that most main characters don't have (red). Most books I read I either imagine the characters with blonde or brown hair, unless the author says otherwise. >.>"
Next, the author makes the shapeshifters kind of unique. They have three forms instead of just two (human and then their animal form). Also, there was one or two animals I never read in shapeshifter novels, which was an otter and a kitten. *___*
The author also mentions several little things that I like or was amused about. Let's see, she added in homosexual couples and male x male kisses (without the character being a "couple"). Though, I wouldn't worry too much about it since there is only like one or two male x male kissing scene, and not very detailed at that. Also, she has a Nathanial who likes voluptuous women, uses old slang like swank and mod, Marcous somehow amuses me ♥, and how Nathanial talks like a grandpa telling you about the "old ways". And lastly, how the author "mentions" how society is now more focused with sex now than in earlier days.
Okay, I am just going to list some things I didn't like. The main female character doesn't like her weight, which is so typical in many romance books. Everyone blames Thad, and I actually feel bad for him since he can't get back together with the woman he loves. Also, the smut started so late in the book. >.>" Oh, and the ending is kind of disappointing since the story kind of feels incomplete. And that's about it for things I didn't like. :)
Overall, it was an average book, but I mostly liked it. Though, before I end this review here are the warnings, there is a rape scene of a little girl and homosexual themes mentioned. However, both of these are not very detailed, so there shouldn't really be a problem. Also, it feels like there will be a sequel, but I am not sure, since there are some things you really don't know about like what happens between Thad and Isella.

Overall I think the book was entertaining enough, and got really interesting toward the latter half. Shamefully it was so rushed that many key points that could've been fleshed out were barely brushed over and ended in and unsatisfactory but nice epilogue.
Something that really irked me in the story was how Samantha continually reiterated that her Nanny taught her that, used to say that or raised her some way. It did seemed mildly amusing at first, but later, and in the weirdest of situations they would just pop out of nowhere and they just annoyed me. Moreover when she said that she never gave her love lightly, proven by her previous relationship, but given that this story happened in the span of a month I wouldn't really give credit to her musings (I couldn't help but laugh at that part)
Nate was a pretty nice guy, though I did find him quite naive though that could be explain by his 50 year slumber and his apparent need to maintain a grip on his humanity. Nevertheless he was a nice change from the wildly popular muscular, alpha, dominant, kind of vampire, and he just had the luck to find a woman with an old-fashioned sense. I really enjoyed his reserved and courteous personality.
Secondary characters were nothing outstanding, they were quite plain, maybe except for a few of them that had a bit of development toward the latter part of the book.
The book at first had a really adult vibe but as chapters went by it got a little juvenile, even affecting Nate's pesonality. I felt a little confused at that, but after much pondering I think some of it could be because our main protagonist had much-and still has- to learn about himself and what surrounds him so, doing something totally out of character let us see a different side unknown to both him and the reader.
The epilogue was nice though a little uncertain, and hinted to the possibility of a continuation that might focus on Thad's storyline. I might read it because I'm interested to know what happens if there's further installments.
In conclusion, a nice, entertaining, read. Sexual content indeed, but not as heavy as it might seem since Nathaniel is the most gentlemanly vampire of this book.

Surprisingly sweet. I could imagine this vampire romance to get shuffled with all the other Twilight-ish knock offs. I'm so glad I read it in 2014, because this story is worth the read. Very predictable but the character premise was what distinguishes this tale from others.
I really loved the fact that our vampire is almost a time-traveler because his circumstances. Felt original.
And because the character Nate makes fun of modern society and it's take on vampires, hands-down I would pay good money to see it made into a movie. Oh and can I just say this about Nate .
Enjoyable and funny. It's an average length but I was able to finish quickly, 4-6 hours.
Also, I've read a lot of EA's work. This book was great because I like that she gave her characters time to think.
So many of her recent heroines are suppose to be smart but act like idiots. It's nice to see a character like Sam think things through. Even if she doesn't always make the best decisions, I feel like she considered her choices. It's such a simple thing to do, it's a shame it doesn't happen in other works.

I'm honestly surprised with the great reviews I am seeing for this book. I gave it 3 stars but honestly I am being generous. I would actually give it 2.5 if I could. I just finished it last night and quite frankly found it lacking.
Nate wasn't your typical vampire being rather young and honestly he just seemed to constantly nag himself about this fact. Sam on the other hand I felt refreshing and likable. I don't know of many people at all that have the same values as her character.
I didn't get a grasp on who Pinky and her brother Raymond really were at all. Even though Pinky was Sam's best friend all I could personally understand was that she was supportive, because best friend's are supposed to be, and she loved to fix up Sam's hair.
I personally couldn't stand or sympathize with Nate's best friend, Thad, at all.
I expected a few grammar problems here and there. Yes, there didn't seem to be many but some of the listing bugged me. There were moments of no commas and lots of ands.
The biggest thing that bugged me about this book was there was a moment where Sam claimed to not have seen Nate for about a week after there first 'real' date I believe. But I think it is when they switch to Nate's perspective that they mess up the timeline and say it was the night before...consistency please!

I seriously fell in love with the story! I never did imagined this simple yet compelling story somehow made an impact. It's a very light and heart warming to read though nerve wracking at times.
All Nate wants is to have a person who will love him and accept him for what he is. There's no hidden agenda on his actions. He never intended to deceive or terrorize the people around him. he just want to live and co-exist with the people around peacefully.
Sometimes, humans acts like a beast more than the beast it self.
The simplicity of this story made it all more interesting and memorable to read.

Good read. I was torn between a four and five star rating, because this book had it all - a great leading couple and steamy scenes between them, solid side characters, a sweet love story that overcomes a few obstacles thrown in their way, lots of suspense, a very intriguing world as a setting, and all of it superbly written. I choose the four stars for a very personal reason, the hero isn't an alpha male. He is the Louis de Pointe du Lac of Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire to Lestat de Lioncourt. He was sympathetic and did everything for all the right reasons, but I'm a Lestat girl all the way.
