Still cute, but not one of the best in this series, if only for the fact that our hero doesn't seem to learn his lesson (namely, that removing people's wigs is not cool).

The Principal From the Black Lagoon definately shows how childrens' imaginations can run wild! Typically every child has nightmares and terrible visions of their principal who spends their days behind closed doors. Mike Thaler did a great job capturing the reader's attention through his text, whereas, illustrator, Jared Lee, then uses the text he is given to create images that catch the viewer's attention. The way in which Lee uses very school objects such as the lockers in a hallway to then be turned into monsters creating a haunting kind of effect is truly eye catching. Througout the entire book the amount of text on each page is very limited. Images are the main attention grabber on every page along with the use of bright and popping colors.

We all have been sent to the principals office once or twice and maybe even a third time. That's really the charm. Did something silly as knock someones wig off or call someone an Oompa Loompa (did I just admit something here?!!) And then comes the scary weird treacherous tales of the (dun dun dun) principal. Let your imagination run wild.

Great book about a student who was sent to the principal's office. He has heard many horror stories about students who have been to the principal's office, but now he will see first hand what happens. This would be a great book for predictions.

What terrible fate awaits the children sent to the principal's office? Are you sent home in chains? Kept in the cage under the desk? My children delighted in this title in the Black Lagoon series.

A case of mistaken identity. We all thought our teachers and principals were monsters. Fun read for anyone feeling nostalgic.

It’s the third day of school. I’ve been sent to the principal’s office.

People go to Mrs. Green’s office and never return. Bones and skeletons, they say, fill the waiting room. The rug is red so that the blood doesn’t show.

What will happen to me? Will I become part of her coat rack? Food for her pet alligator? A paperweight or a bookmark? Maybe Mrs. Green will put me into one of the cages under her desk. Or send me home in chains.

What happens if she decides to keep me for one of her experiments? Will I end up with a dog’s head? A hamster’s hands? A chicken’s feet?

And now the door is slowly opening . . . .

=========

In this book, part of the author’s Black Lagoon series, Mrs. Green, the teacher in “The Teacher from the Black Lagoon,” has become the principal. And, although the being-sent-to-the-principal’s-office situation is not quite as relatable as a new teacher for young readers, even the best-behaved youngsters can imagine what it would be like to be sent to the principal’s office.

The targeted audience for this hilarious picture book, young readers ages four through eight, preschool through the primary grades, are sure to enjoy this preposterous tale filled with absurd imaginings and speculation. Young readers, familiar with school settings, are likely to empathize with the main character.

Colorful illustrations accompany the story; the imaginative tale is sure to keep youngsters giggling.

Highly recommended.

This book is about a boy who is sent to the principals office because of a class incident. On his way there, he is really scared because he has heard that the principal is very mean and treats students very bad, even turning them into animals or feeding them to alligators. The boy waits there, thinking of all the possible ways that this can go wrong. The door opens and something is different!
The revelation of the main character (the boy) is given to the reader by the use of his actions. We can tell that he is a bit of a troublemaker when he explains why he got sent to the office, etc. The revelation of the principal is given to the reader by appearance, showing obvious and stereotypical traits of what a "good" person looks like.
The boy is a static character because he doesn't change over the course of the story. At the end, we can see that he would do what he did to get in trouble again which means that he didn't take a lesson from being sent to the office. The principal's characters was a dynamic character through the eyes of the reader because we were made believe that she was bad and mean but turned out to be completely the opposite.
I enjoyed reading the book. It is funny and entertaining but it isn't on my favorites.

This book is personally one of my favorites since I like the style of picture books the author and illustrator Create. the story line coming from a child perspective of school or any setting. allows the main character to make the plot dramatic based on the illustrations or the detailed given. the illustrations are hand drawn and having certain pages different color scheme although coincide similarly. the laid out of the illustration are placed certain giving a full bleed to some extend but having white space around the colored pictures. the story line begins with how bad the outcomes in this story is being sent to the office to speak with the principle so, the main character explains to the reader how scary the principle is and the punishments that are given for example, the short kids sent to the principle were given to her animals to eat or if you were lucky you were sent home with chains" gives the reader an imagination if that did actually occur. eventually, the main character realizes what he been told isn't true. this story being consider as a primary picture book helps children think dramatic about real life situation gives the chance to have imagination but knowing the reality.

Growing up, I loved these books. They were the perfect amount of scary mixed with the perfect amount of funny. Now, as a adult, I work with kids. I've introduced a few to the series and they love it as well, so I have been looking for more and more of these books. This is one such book that I didn't have as a child so the first time I read it was as an adult.

It's a fun story about the fear of being sent to the principal's office. Hubie's theories and the rumors he's heard are pretty morbid so this is not recommended for really sensitive children.

The flow is very similar to the first book. So similar that he's even sent to Mrs. Green who was his teacher in the first book? I'm a little confused about that part, but whatever, it works.

Good read, fun story, wonderful series.

This book is under the genre fantasy and is a picture book and is intended for children age 4 to 8. This book is about a child you has been sent to the principles office and has he walks there he talks about all the horror stories he hears about the principle only to find a nice pretty woman when he arrives to the office. The reason I gave this book five stars is because this was one of my favorite books when I was younger to read and even today I find it entertaining. Although it does not have a large or complicated storyline I enjoy how they describe all the monstrosity's that occur in the principles office and the way they illustrate them as well. I definitely believe this book would appeal to young readers as it is engaging and entertaining to read.

This particular book is geared especially towards readers with strong imaginations. This text is a little more advanced in sentence structure, but it is not a hard read. The author uses plenty of adjectives and descriptors to depict the "monster" principal that he was dreading to see. The illustrations in the book consist mainly of the fear the boy possessed. The monster was never fully shown be cause he was only dreaming. This book is great for reading to entertain a class of elementary students.

Mike Thaler's Black Lagoon books are very interesting and popular. I grew up reading his books even though I still find them a little scary. The illustrations are detailed yet they are cartoon characters. If you look closely, you find other little drawings you missed the first time you read the book. This book is not centered on toddlers or younger children. The words and sentences are little longer. I prefer that children in first and second grade, those who are just getting into reading to read this book.

I am completely in love with this book. The way the story is told from the perspective of a young child makes his assumptions about the principal even more comical and enjoyable. The text and illustrations create a narrative that makes the read almost afraid to go to the principal's office. The illustrations are a mix of graphic novel and fork art style that appears more childlike in a sense, futher cementing the viewpoint from the child's perspective.

The Principal from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler, illustrated by Jared Lee is one of the weaker tales in this series.

On the third day of school, our main character is sent to the principal's office... and big surprise, he's heard that the principal, Mrs. Green, is a real monster!

This one had one illustration that wasn't awesome. This is also the very same Mrs Green from the first tale, so we were lacking creativity there.

The mood of this book is supposed to be a little scary, at least for younger kids. Actually, no. I definitely still think this way about principals. The montage of pictures showing all the reasons we should be scared of the principal is hilarious. They build up the suspense for the reader as we wonder what Hubie's principal is actually like.

Perfect for middle school students who are wanting an exciting book and can see what "COULD" happen if sent to the principal's office. The Principal from the Black Lagoon takes discipline to a whole other level.

Very comical children’s story about an ornery boy’s first time being sent to the principal’s office and all the horrors he imagined occurring there. From the students being fed to alligators and turned into coatracks to the pretty lady letting him off easy, it’s laughs all the way.

This is a good book for kids. The book is about a kid going to the principal office and he heard rumors about them before. He has all kinds of ideas as to what is going to happen. When he gets there he is surprised.

Picture Book #9: This book is hilarious! It shows the semi-reality of the fears that students have of their principal...until they actually meet them of course. Wonderful book for kids and adults.

This is another fun one from this series that will definitely be a part of my classroom, it is another one that follows the same kind of idea where the principal is built up to be awful and scary.
